Great Dim Sum place. First time visiting Boston and its Chinatown. All the food was hot and well prepared. Glad we tried it. Shrimp Dumplings were the best. Prompt service.

Food was pretty good. Excellent price on the taro toes and the lychee addition was excellent. Service was quick and the food is good. Ambience is funky but I dig it. The place is definitely authentic. Tea was brought to the table without us asking and I guess we did have to pay 3$ for it?? -1 star. I have never had to pay for tea before if it was Brought to the table without asking. I was disappointed the "chive" bun had meat/shrimp in it. Not many vegetarian options. I liked the veggie chow foon but it was not good enough to get again. Scallion pancakes were really nice.

A friend mentioned a bubble tea shop nearby, but it turned out to be a Cantonese restaurant... so I'll only review the bubble tea section. Coffee Milk Tea: Extremely, extremely, extremely inauthentic. Both the tea and coffee flavors were very weak, like drinking water. Jasmine Milk Tea: Also very weak, but you could taste the jasmine aroma. A relatively good one. Taro Milk Smoothie: Very sweet, but not fragrant.

We want to sample dim sum in Boston's Chinatown so we decided to check out Hei La Moon which nearby Tufts Medical Center where our son is beginning his residency. The food was tasty and prices were reasonable for the quality we got served. Staff spoke some English and always ready to help you choose something wonderful to try. The atmosphere offered a nice and relaxing atmosphere to sip your tea and to enjoy your dim sum dumplings. Highly recommended to try this place if you're craving for some delicious Chinese food. Restrooms were clean too :)

Not captured (pan fried noodles) but I swear I got them!

I know everyone has their favorite dim sum in Boston, but Hei La Moon is pretty high up there on my list (maybe tied with Great Taste if I want Pan Fried Turnip Cakes). The proprietor/hostess is so sweet, and the cart service on weekends is always such a vibe. As always, I get the Siu Mai, Har Gow, Bean Curd Meat Rolls, Chive Dumplings, Tofu with Fish Paste, and Fried Noodles every time I come. Honestly salivating thinking of this place!

We got dimsum and it was pretty nice. The service was a little off. They served things at very different times. My boba didnt come till we were almost done eating and the noodle soup was kinda late. Ambience was nice. Overall, i think the food is great. Just the food service was a little off.

We had dim sum at Hai Le Moon this morning, and I really appreciated that they still use the traditional dim sum carts. It's becoming rare these days, and it makes the experience so much more fun and nostalgic. Most of the staff were very friendly as well. I also like that for fried items--such as fried taro dumpling, roast pork puff, and egg tart--you can mix different items on one small plate and count it as a single order. That's a nice touch. Their turnip cake was quite good, better than what we've had at some other dim sum places. The rice roll was a bit less ideal since it had been on the cart for a while; the shrimp was slightly dry. Overall, it's a nice spot for dim sum, and watching the carts roll by is always enjoyable. We'll definitely be back again.

Loved their dimsum wish I can go back! Fast service, hot and fresh Ambiance -any typical dimsum place Price was average

We used the Spot Hero app and found a parking garage for $10.99 at 88 Kingston St. for 8 hours on a Saturday. It was an easy 2 minute to the restaurant so perfect for us. We were a group sharing dim sum so we selected different dishes. We got fast service and the cart ladies tried hard to suggest more items. I can't say it is my favorite place for dim sum in Chinatown but they provide solid items and a good selection. You have to walk a set of stairs to find bathrooms. They are pretty paintings on the doors and they are clean facilities.

Love this place! Food is fast. Fresh and friendly service. It's not fancy but it does the job. I very much like this Asian restaurant as it's large quiet and often seems to have better quality food than other places Parking is a bit of the pain in the butt and it's kind of in a sketchy area, but I still love it .

This was my first time dining at a dim sum restaurant and it was amazing. I was in Boston and visiting Chinatown (which was so cool), and this restaurant was so amazing because it was so authentic and felt so unique. I've never done something like this before (as someone who is used to Chinese takeout). This was one of the coolest dining experiences I've ever had, and the food tasted incredible.

Food was good, similar to other dimsum I've had before. Only problem came during the end when after having payed already, we were confronted by a server asking if there was a "problem with the service" and was implying for us to tip more. For not meeting their tip expectation, we were put in an uncomfortable situation where the server's passive aggressive and pushy attitude left us in a sour mood. While the idea of telling a customer to tip more is already wrong and rude, only bringing water and sauce when asked during a slow evening isn't exactly going above and beyond.

Food: the dimsum was OK. I wouldn't say it is the best. I liked the shrimp dumplings, but did not care for the pork siu mai. I loved the beef stir fry and the veggies! Both were really good. Service: The service was alright, but I didn't expect much coming here since I know how it usually goes at traditional Chinese restaurants. At least we know it's authentic LOL Ambiance: The restaurant is outdated, and not the most aesthetically pleasing. The floors are a bit sticky and dirty, but the tables were clean/chairs/cutlery were clean.

After doing a quick TikTok search, I was prompted to try out this chicken sandwich from Rubato. We walked over and actually missed it on the street because it's so tiny. After realizing it, we turned around and to our surprise, there were several people inside eating and others waiting. This must be a good sign. We walked in and it was the most casual, laid-back establishment. The green color scheme and plants gave it a more earthy vibe, which I absolutely loved. Since we didn't necessarily know what to order we decided to split the fried chicken bolo. When I tell you, I have not stopped thinking about that sandwich since I ate it, I'm not kidding. It was absolutely delicious. My husband, who was resistant to even going in the first place, kept telling everyone around town about it. Ever since Double Chin Restaurant in Chinatown closed (may she rise again), I've been on a mission to find a worthy fried chicken bolo bao. My friend and I trudged into Rubato on a cold, rainy day, hoping for a replacement. Spoiler alert: we did not find one. We ordered four items: rice rolls with curry fish balls, an egg custard lava bun, Ovaltine French toast, and the fried chicken bolo bao. The rice rolls were mild but fine, topped with enough cilantro and scallion to keep it interesting. The lava bun was hot, gooey, and did its job. (GOOD JOB, LAVA BUN!) The Ovaltine French toast? Eh, it aite. But here's the heartbreak: the chicken bolo bao. The chicken wasn't hot; it had that "sat around" feeling. And the bun? Just a dressed-up brioche, missing that true bo lo bao magic. A brioche bun with a crackly top is not a bo lo bao, my dudes. In short, everything was edible, but nothing made me want to come back. (It's not like watching like a hawk for an empty seat and swooping in the moment one opens up is any fun.) The chicken deserved better.

Highlights: - beef chow fun (dry) - great wok hei flavor and they didn't skimp on meat. - pan fried turnip cake - crispy on all sides vs. just top and bottom that you usually see. Cut thicker too so you get more of the soft inside. - beancurd sheet roll with pork and shrimp - tender and flavorful. The sauce they have on the outside is delish and the beancurd texture was nice. - taro puff with pork - light and crispy on the outside. The taro itself was soft and custardy. It didn't eat heavy even though it's deep fried. Just ok: - steamed rice roll with shrimp - sauce was just ok and the rice roll was a little thick. - Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce - the sauce was very thin. I'm used to a thicker more flavorful sauce that holds to the broccoli better. But the broccoli was cooked well. Service really left a lot to be desired. We constantly had to flag people down and they really made it feel like we were bothering them. They missed an item on our order and it took a while for them to correct it.
