After being bombarded by greasy, spicy food all over Allston... my taste buds were screaming for help -- I desperately needed a bowl of something light and comforting! That's when I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a Hong Kong-style café -- zero wait time! And honestly, it immediately earned a spot on my "Boston Comfort Food Go-To" list‼ Clean, retro green-and-white decor Soft lighting, plenty of space between tables A spotless restroom (seriously, you can tell from the street!) Compared to the popular next-door spot with a one-hour line, this place feels like someone pressed the mute button Perfect for quiet solo dinners or bringing parents who prefer calm over chaos ‍‍ I don't get why it's not Insta-famous yet... But maybe that's what makes it such a true hidden gem -- low-key, unpretentious, and quietly excellent. My must-order list : Century Egg & Pork Congee -- perfectly simmered, silky, with those little rice "blossoms" Pickled Cabbage Fish -- light and refreshing, not overpoweringly spicy Baked Pork Chop Curry Rice -- that dreamy curry-cheese combo happiness (And psst... the milk tea? So rich and fragrant -- straight out of a Hong Kong street café )

Stopped by to get a small bite. They did change their menu a bit, but most items on the menu stayed the same. We just ordered half Hainan chicken and beef stone porridge. The chicken was so good that I originally planned to take out the leftovers, but we emptied the plate since they took out the bones, which makes it easier to eat, and the ginger oil was light and not overly spicy (since I am not a fan of ginger). The beef stone porridge was thick, and the beef was soft. There are a few items that I want to try. Next time, hopefully, this restaurant will still be here since the other location in Brookline closed.

We've heard things about Baby Cafe and I'm glad we could finally visit! The place had a few open tables, but was full enough where it felt busy when we arrived. The interior was nice and felt pretty modern as well as super clean. The menu had a good mix of dishes from fusion to more classic Hong Kong options. We opted for the latter, getting rice and various dishes to share that weren't as modern as their pasta variety. The tea was super nice and fun (melting ice baby was quite cute) while everything came out super tasty and hot. Service on the other hand was unfortunately a bit slow - there were only 1-2 people on table duty so it was very hard to flag someone down for ordering, getting the check, and water refills. This isn't the servers' faults though - there probably should have been more folks working on a weekend. The experience would've been 5 stars had there been a bit more staff, but that doesn't deter me from wanting to return - definitely a solid spot for HK food in Allston. Thanks, Baby Cafe!

4.5/5 - Food was great, and Japanese tofu was insanely silky. Love the umami in all of the dishes, and would 10/10 go back. Great service, great vibes!

I didn't have much expectations from a place that was called "Baby Cafe" Didn't really scream that i crave anything there. But there selections was interesting. I ordered the Popcorn Chicken, Salt and Pepper Squid, side of Chicken broth rice, and Hong Kong Style Toast Buy 1 get 1 Free. I have to say the TOAST of all the other dishes I've eaten was probably the best. Simply because I don't think we have anything that's close to this in NY!? I mean we have our infamous HK style French Toast but their butter toast is like a diff. level. Slight crisp on the outside with a buttery texture. Drizzled with condense milk! URGH...They got me on that! and I get another one for free!? SCORE! The Popcorn Chicken was good. Well seasoned and the salt/pepper squid was cooked perfectly. I thought it would go nice with the chicken broth rice. Let me say this. Cut down on the turmeric! I know you try to give it that golden yellow color. Turmeric is not the way! ROAST a chicken use their drippings! toast some shallots and garlic and mince ginger in oil a bit of chicken yum yum and mix! Overall this place was pretty good. Would come back to try other things on the menu.

I ordered takeout from Baby cafe so this review is solely on the taste/value and does not account for the location/service. I had the curry fish fillet, serving size was pretty small and wasn't as filling, but it was very yummy! Was craving for more curry sauce and wished there was an option to order extra on the side. I also had the dry beef chow fun, while portion is decent and taste is good, the downside was that it was extremely oily. Would like to try this place out in person and test out the other items on the menu as it does look pretty good.

As a Cantonese person, I did not have high hopes for Baby Cafe lol. But I was very pleasantly surprised. They have the best beef chow fun in Boston - hella wok hei and plenty of string beans, onion, scallion, and beef. The curry fish ball was good - but not the best I had. The lemon tea was decent too. However, I got the Portuguese baked chicken over spaghetti, which was my child fave , and it was ... flavorless. The chicken was juicy and the spaghetti was al dente but the whole dish tasted like nothing. This was also the only dish that was over priced too. The service was good and fast every time we went.

Few food lovers from Hong Kong recommended me this restaurant, prior to this visit I checked Hong Kong style milk tea with satisfaction so ordered Braised Tofu Rice for take out (Fried) Tofu was bit over cooked and too salty for my preference but with enough rice to go with, it made sense at the end. Tofu was cooked with Back Choi and very little mushroom.

Clean casual interior with green and white color scheme. Service very quick and efficient! Food came out fast and we were seated immediately on a Saturday at noon We ordered the beef cube and chicken and rice! Beef cube: such cool presentation! The crunchy rice block is very nice to eat. It's also A LOT of beef since the rice wall is thin and holds the beef like a bowl. The beef was very savory, slightly chewy. Chicken and rice: a classic. Done pretty well, the garlic side seasoning gave it good flavor. The meat portion here is much smaller compared to the beef cube. But still filling with the big mound of rice. A bit pricey for what it is, but I enjoyed coming here, and they had a pretty big menu of other things that looked good to try.

When you're feeling a bit of chicken and rice, come to Baby Cafe! LOCATION: Baby Cafe is located on a busy street so prepare to hunt parking spaces. There is a very small lot in front of the restaurant but it's almost always full. INTERIOR: There are a quite a few big tables to accommodate larger groups. It's pretty spacious inside. The decor is clean and there are large windows that make the space feel larger than it is. MENU: The menu is huge and has so many different options to choose from. FOOD: Get the chicken! The chicken is so tender and soft and pairs perfectly with the chicken rice. A surprising dish that was the crowd favorite is the beef chow foon. The dish had good wok hei (iykyk). I'd recommend skipping the tomato pork chop rice - it was a bit watery and not too good. DRINKS: The milk teas were good and highly recommend. SERVICE: Hit or miss - we went twice and had different experiences.

I found this place through TikTok and the reviews seemed quite decent so we decided to try this place out for dinner. It was a weekday and we were seated quite quickly. The decor is quite modern and nice, good for Instagram photos. The menu is extensive and has all the classic HK cafe favourites like baked rice dishes and stir fry noodles. They also have more traditional dinner dishes good for sharing. We tried a lot of things: Sizzling Ground Pork Japanese Tofu - this was a fan favourite. I love the egg tofu. House Beef Stew - this was a bit of a let down. The cut of meat was poor and it was too salty. Hainanese chicken half with rice - the chicken was deboned and nicely flavoured. The rice also had a rice chicken flavour, but it was way too oily - oil actually dripped off the bottom of the bowl when I tipped it. I had to mix it with regular rice when I ate it the next day. Sweet & Sour Pork Chop - The table didn't like these very much. The flavour was off from what I typically enjoy about this dish. Pepper and Salt Chicken Wings - nicely fried and good flavour. Crab Rangoon - wasn't my favourite, but I tend not to like them anyways.

I'd been wanting to try Baby Cafe since they took over this location, and even despite all the mediocre reviews. We came on a Sunday right around 6pm for dinner and it wasn't too busy. It eventually filled up a little more but the service was always quick and friendly. We both got drinks and were pleasantly surprised at how big the glasses were. I ordered the Honey Green Tea, which even came with jelly. We split the Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice and the Honey Walnut Prawn, which were both good. The fish was salty as expected, and the prawn and walnuts were perfectly paired. We ended up with leftovers and happy stomachs. I might be interested in coming back, if anything for how big the drinks were.

    Dry beef chow foom
    Alan C.

This review is for Baby Cafe takeout. Dropped by to order some dry beef chow foon take out. As most folks know, ordering dry beef chow foon is a good indicator if the restaurant kitchen food has the "wok air", which is achieved from high heat cooking. Unfortunately, baby cafe didn't have that critical wok air taste so the beef chow foon was just missing that key attribute. The wide rice noodle was still cooked thoroughly and was nice and chewy. Takeout took a while though but that gave me a chance to observe the interior which was actually very nice due to the tree ambience style decoration. I will definitely try eating inside next time but not ordering the chow foon.

My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.

It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. I got the crab wontons, their take on crab rangoons, as well as three different rolls (yes my eyes are bigger than my stomach). I went with the eel avocado roll as well as the spicy tuna and yellowtail rolls. I was REALLY impressed by the quality of all the food. I was given the wontons first and they were perfectly crispy and filled. I dislike when the ratio of filling to wonton is too heavy on the filling side and things get messy. They were also SUPER hot which is a personal must. My only qualm is I would've loved a bit more sauce, there were a lot of wontons for that small dish of sweet chili sauce. In terms of the sushi I surprisingly loved the spicy yellowtail the best. Normally the other 2 are my favorite but I might've found a new go-to. The others were great as well, though. You could seriously tell the tuna was JUST cut from the fish (I watched the sushi chef do so!). Notably, the ratio on the eel-avocado roll was great as well as the amount of eel sauce. No need to pay for extra on the side! I will most definitely be ordering or dining in from here soon, this time bringing friends along!
