Stopped in to get a two item combo at Hong Kong Express that's been here in Artesia for years. It's about $12.50 for a two item combo but they tack on a dollar if you use a ATM card or credit card. We came around 8:00 they're closing in about half an hour so some of the items were already sold out. I got teriyaki chicken against my better judgment because it looked like it was the end of the tray for the night and I was right. The teriyaki chicken was fairly dry and unless it looks like it's brand new out of the kitchen next time I probably won't get it again. The egg flower soup is more of a corn chowder very tasty. The Kung Pao chicken was tasty spicy and not dry like the chicken teriyaki. The flavor was sort of overpowered by the big huge chunks of celery that's okay. The chow mein was okay nothing to write home about. The food was pretty good I usually go to the Chinese fast food that's at Del Amo and Pioneer but they were closed. Fast and friendly gets a job done. They have a quiet dining room if you want to eat there. Overall casual ambience. I'll probably try it again but get something that's fresher than the Teriyaki was tonight. read more

Parking was stressful and I had to cut across a Taco Bell drive-thru to get here and the lot was small and clumsily shared with a curry restaurant and a smoke shop. Not a lot of options for parking. The colors of the food look phenomenal, but I have a feeling that's to detract you from the neutrality of the flavors. If this Chinese food pledged allegiance to any other country, I'd argue they'd be saluting Switzerland. Got some sweet and sour sauce to dip my cheese rangoons in. It tasted like I was dipping them into red water. It was so liquid, I could barely hold any sauce on the Rangoon and I could taste the red. What the hell does that even mean I don't know but it tasted RED. In spite of all this I will most likely probably actually return. This is an awesome place to eat! I was there yesterday evening and ate my meal but I forgot my wallet. 20 minutes later when I went to put gas on my car I realized that I had left it. I was worried. This place is amazing, my boyfriend and I come here all the time and we are met with hospitality and kindness, despite the culture and language barrier. The prices went up because of the pandemic and the struggling small businesses have to adapt to STAY in business so they can keep providing their services to the community. I'm totally okay with that because I can understand the business aspect of this. Also, previously working in the restaurant industry has shown me how hard it is working with food and having to satisfy "every customer" even if the customer isn't always right. Some people are just too entitled and ignorant to have any empathy or patience for others and it shows through the unfair feedback they receive. They do their absolute best here and it shows. Their chow main is amazing, it is the first thing I judge a Chinese food spot on and theirs is thick and not dried out. The portions are more than generous and they appreciate their regulars as well.
