We aren't usually in this area so had no idea where to go. They at the time weren't allowing people to eat inside. So we had to eat in our car with half hour till we got home left to go. I was glad to see they had steamed veggies. I did have to get a pretty large portion and it came with chicken. The veggies were perfect and just wanted I needed. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken. The orange chicken was excellent and it's a homemade marinade there are small slices of orange peels in the entire that really gives a nice citrus kick to it. I compare all take out places to Hong Kong. It is my favorite. My test for places is the lomein. Most take out joints use veggies that taste out of a can. This is not the case with them. A lot of places do not use an authentic noodle. Hong Kong has a lomein that uses a textured noodle unlike that of pasta (which I really like). I have requested this dish spicy a few times and they always make it happen. Fried dumplings are pretty awesome! Their Generals Chicken is just how I like it, and pairs well with fried rice. If you ever have a cold, order any of the soups. They are a life saver Every sauce Is delicious with a great garlicy taste! We tried Hong Kong for the first time on Saturday evening. They were busy with multiple phone orders, but service was quick and friendly. The pork egg rolls were larger than those at most carry out places, and were pretty good. Same for the crab rangoon. The rest of our items all contained chicken that was rubbery and made each dish unpleasant. The lo mein noodles were good, but the chicken ruined the dish. The place feels a little dirty and the food is not as good as it's counterparts 5-10 minutes further away. Very solid American Chinese food. Everybody needs a Chinese place like this within easy driving distance of their house and this is mine. This is located on the southwest side of Indianapolis. A small strip mall restaurant. This is nothing special. This is the same Chinese food that you find at 100s of small locations around the city. Prices are about the same as you would find at most of these places. Food quality is below average for me, but I know a lot of people find this acceptable. Service was good. I would overall give it 2 1/2 stars but it didn't warrant a 3. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. I like picking up dinner here on my way home from work. It's always ready quickly and the portions are large enough for multiple servings. The chef's special is around $10 and I can definitely get multiple meals out of it (or share with someone.. but who really shares their food??) Used to be my favorite place to get Chinese chicken that actually was chicken, rice was great and not dry and overdone. Now the consistency is off. Sometimes we will order a sesame chicken, it looks and tastes like freshly battered and fried chicken. Next time we order the same item, it is the spongy, pre-frozen cheap "chicken". I don't know if its a manager or chef trying to cut corners, but this place was a 5 star place before they started to skimp on food quality. The quality is okay, not bad enough to not get it when I am craving Chinese but not good enough to make it top of my list. i'll go back and give it another try, but first trip was nothing special. kung pao (or kung bo as they call it here) was unexciting as was egg roll. i'll go once more and try something else. it's not bad, just under seasoned or something. and the chicken had a different texture than i'm used to. that said, the vegetables in the dish were fresh and there was technically nothing wrong with the food - i'll give it another try and see if i'm more suitably impressed. read more
