Strange food. Very sweet or bland. The chowmein was terrible and no flavor or noodles. Sweet and sour chicken was way too sweet and no other flavor. Fried rice was boring and couldn't find any pork in it. Almond chicken was a little better but the gravy was a Strange bright yellow color. Wow three years since a review? Huh. Decided to come to Hong Kong. We ordered entrees to share with an appetizer platter. The stand out was the pork chow fun. So good. It was a good size portion as were the other entrees. Service was prompt and the good came out in reasonable time. The place was clean and quiet. The lounge hadn't cranked up yet. Still one of my top 2 Chinese restaurants in town, Hong Kong is one I keep going back to for their Singapore noodles. I'm obsessed with this simple, delicious dish of spicy thin noodles full of chicken, BBQ pork, and tiny shrimp. And the portion is huge - I always have enough leftovers for one or two more meals at home. While I usually get takeout, this week I went there for a pre-Christmas dinner with a couple of friends. The service was fast and friendly, and we all enjoyed our meals. Of course, I got those darned Singapore noodles again. I can't seem to resist them, even though I keep vowing to try something else on my next visit. The BBQ pork, which is usually tender and excellent, wasn't my favorite on this visit. I am very disappointed in the many changes that the restaurant has made They upgraded the dining area, but they raised the prices and changed the meal options to pay for it. I have been a regular customer for many years, but I actually walked out of the restaurant on my last visit. I don't care about all the fancy upgrades to the dining area, I don't care about the new plates and dinner wear, I care about getting the value of my dollar for my meal, and I am really upset that they have made the meal combo options SMALLER and actually have the gall to charge more while giving you less. Be sure to come hungry! We were craving good Chinese and hit the jackpot in the north end with Hong Kong Restaurant. Family dinners are priced per head with a two head minimum. We ordered a two person family dinner at a little over $20 pp and still had a ton to box up after feeding two adults and a child. Standard family style - choice of soup, an app, 4 entrees, and fried rice. Pictured is the number 10 family dinner. Service was friendly and quick, what more could you ask for? Food is great, but the chilli oil sauce is a little salty side & that is why I put lemons & also I thought that I finally found Asian that doesn't use MSG & they cook it very natural, BUT 1 of the waitress or owner or whatever & does asked like it & in the beginning I thought she was the 1st Chinese that is so sweet & pleasant. Early this evening she was inpatient & very rude expression on her like she didn't want to give me service & she was hurrying to order when is not even half of her time & all I was asking is a simple questions & her face look was like didn't want to take my order & so I told I need more to see want to look at the menu & see if they what I was trying to ask her in the 1st place. & as I was setting there waiting for my food I witnessed how she treat the white folks like their so special like I don't have what they have that like so very nice to them & talk to like sweet like candy. I've been remiss in posting reviews and so they have been stacking up! First off, Hong Kong restaurant. I'll post some good/not so good things from my perspective, and some photos! We've eaten here a number of times recently, so not all the photos were from one visit. Good: The restaurant is clean and well put together. No torn seats or carpet. Plenty of booths and a big round table with a roundy thing in the middle to spin your food off like a merry-go-round with you and all your friends flying off it when you were kids. The lounge! Just what I want in a lounge. Friendly bartender, low lighting, some music, and you can eat in there if you desire. The main restaurant; Friendly staff, multiple types of menu choices (Cantonese, Schezwan, etc). Lunch menu and dinner menu available during lunch hours. The food? Mostly delicious! The lunch menu has different combos at a reasonable price. Not So good: Not a big fan of their fried rice. It was "okay" IMO, not much seasoning, a splash or two of soy sauce woke it up nicely, but no wok char present so it really lost the smokey flavor I enjoy with fried rice. read more

This was our first visit even though we've lived in a relatively nearby area for 7+ years. We never found a Chinese food restaurant that lived up to our hometown favorites in Vancouver, WA. Boy, am I glad I stumbled on to this place. When we are in the mood for some Cantonese or Szechuan style foods, I know where to go. They have a rather extensive menu with lots of variety - chicken, pork, beef or seafood, it doesn't matter. They've got you covered with all your favorites. Our server gave us water and hot tea to start things off. Seeing as it was our first visit I ordered the Appetizer Sampler. It contained 7 slices of BBQ pork, 6 Crab Rangoon, 6 Fried Shrimp, 6 deep fried Potstickers and 1 vegetable egg roll. Lots of our favorites to try. I wasn't a fan of their BBQ pork as it was cold, like right out of the fridge cold. The taste was ok. Definitely not the best I've eaten, but not the worst. The Crab Rangoons were very good. Nice and crispy with lots of filling, but no discernible crab/Krab flavor. The fried shrimp were excellent! Very crisp and oh so tasty! The potstickers were very good too and came with the usual dipping sauce. The egg roll was just so-so. It wasn't all that crisp on the outside and the filling was sort of bland. I loved that we got a ketchup based sauce and hot Chinese mustard plus sesame seeds. We like dipping all of our appetizers in a mixture of the ketchup and mustard, except the potstickers and miss it when it's unavailable. Our server was more than happy to provide us with extras when we asked. We could've made a meal off the appetizers alone I suppose... but hey... you only live once lol. So we ordered two entrees as well. The wife ordered Kung Pao Chicken which she loves. Lots of veggies and chicken PLUS a LOT of peanuts too! The sauce was very tasty. Spice was as requested. It came with a side of steamed Basmati rice. I orders a special that was listed on the board - Crispy Beef. It was just like it sounds. Beef strips lightly breaded and deep fried, then tossed on a sweet and slightly savory sauce, mixed with onions. It was good. Maybe a little too sweet for my tastes, but still pretty good. I added some crispy chili flakes oil to my rice, with soy sauce nd then topped that with the beef and onions. It was a good combination. I probably will order something different next time and based on the quality of the food we were served, 8 wouldn't hesitate to try something new. Everything was good. My car broke down on my way to pick up dinner on Thanksgiving. I called them to let them know it would be about 45 minutes before I could have someone come pick it up. I love their Kung Pao Shrimp... it's absolutely delicious! We also really like their House Special Noodle Soup... it's loaded with wontons, noodles, shrimp, chicken, pork & vegetables.... so tasty! The service is great sometimes and not so great other times... it just depends on who is working that day. read more

Disappointed with their best fried rice, missing key ingredients. Chicken chow mein had a sprinkling of chicken, mostly Sprouts and cabbage, looking for slivers of Barbecue pork, found crumbs, lacking the correct seasoning to make this dish delicious. read more

New menu SUCKS My family has been eating here for 30 years but when we went for dinner last night and saw the new menu we were very disappointed to see the combinations had completely changed for the worse. Well dang it! I know it was late, but if you aren't willing to cook the meal like the teriyaki I tried to order, assuming it's because the broil was off and the cook didn't want to turn it back on. Which was alright with me, my back up was beef and broccoli! I have loved the beef and broccoli before once dining in. Unfortunately it was the most bland beef and broccoli I've ever eaten.. pretty much just steamed with onion carrot and broccoli... I'm so extremely disappointed as I've had nothing but rave things to say until this point. The orange chicken was pretty solid though. I would have just ordered what they could have prepared correctly so I'm not wasting $20 on mediocre not as listed food. Terrible customer service. Guy by the name of Joe. Has no restaurant skills, and argued for 10 minutes when we said the wrong food with pork was given when we insisted vegetarian. He argued belligerently insisting we should be looking into the menu before ordering. We said, we were already home and will bring the food back tomorrow to exchange. He goes to say, needed to be done right now. When we went back, again argued for 5 minutes to prove a point instead of promoting the culture, customer first. They take reservations but then make you wait over an hour just to tell you they don't know when a table will be available. Given they are taking walk-ins before those of us that made reservations is bad business! The owner could not be bothered to care or to wait any tables from what we saw in the hour we were standing waiting for our reservation. There was one waitress with rather short hair that seemed to be doing EVERYTHING!!!! She was the only one to come over to the 4 families that all had reservations and ask if everyone was together or how she could seat them. This is not the first time that what appears to be the owner has taken a reservation and not been able to have seats or over book. I also tried for 2 weeks to call and make reservations but they never seem to answer the phone!!! read more

The Food is fantastic and authentic, the service sublime. There were meals in the menu that I have not seen in a while. If you are looking for good food this is the place to go however, they get busy very quickly so plan accordingly. Added to that, it can get crowded inside. Now you all know that every restaurant we go to it starts off with five stars. The waitress gets 10 stars because she was amazing very sweet full of energy absolutely meticulous about her place settings and all the utensils were clean. This however is the great part . I do expect some greasiness to CHINESE FOOD especially when it's sweet-and-sour chicken or deep fried shrimp however when it's dripping with grease and the shrimp have been double deep fried and it's a rubber looking mallet burnt. We have issues when the small pieces of chicken have been dumped twice in the flour mixture prior to frying and has been deep fried cold you know what's going to happen. Upon taking out your deep fry, you will now have the grease holding onto the cold for dear life. This is just a whole fiasco of tragedies. The one chicken was terrible. It was deep fried nuggets covered with some unrecognizable sweet sauce took two bites and declared it worse than you can imagine. The egg flower soup was pretty good. While the food is sometimes better than other regional American style Chinese restaurants these days, they are too inconsistent in the kitchen, and the last visit was quite the disappointment. I ordered sesame shrimp that were prepared with sticky rubber like batter that was overly starchy and ruined the dish which I usually enjoyed there. Eatingbut was like slimy chewing gum. The biggest miss which will keep me away for awhile was when I brought this up to the server and was very clear that I would still pay for it, butvwnated them to know so it is better next time I came, she go lt defensive that it was just in the sauce too long and discredited my feedback, not understanding the nature of the issue. It wasn't the expensive dish getting soggy in the sauce, it was being battered with imbalanced ingredients that made the food sticky yucky rubber. Then, when I was willing to forgive them this once if they would take ownership to learn form it and be more careful next time, they were just argumentative. Waitress was helping other people that got sat after us. I asked her if we could order she said in a few min rudely. I said we have been sitting here for awhile can we please order at least drinks. She gave me so much attitude and said I just sat you less then 5min ago I said actually 10-15min we would like to order. She responded and said I will get to you when I get to you and walked away. This is my first time here, and I loved the food.....It was fresh, the vegetables were cooked al dente, and had loads of flavor. The price was not bad either.
