One of the best Chinese restaurants in the Triangle. My Uncle & Aunt ordered take out multiple orders of our old favorites from this restaurant: General Tso's Chicken, Beef Lomein, and vegetable fried rice, and each of them is beyond what most Chinese takeaways could offer. They ordered them for my Uncle's Birthday celebration, and I'm glad they chose this over the terrible MediterrAsian (previously reviewed) nearby. They have the best General Tso I've tried: slightly spicy with crunchy texture and right amount of sweetness in its sauce. Great with rice and lomein. Beef Lomein is tasty, not too salty, with just the right amount of so sauce, and good amount of beef. Fried rice is excellent and went well with General Cho and Beef Lomein. Honestly, Orient Garden never fails to disappoint with their food quality. We've had dine-in experiences here in the past, and I'm glad they allowed dine-ins again after years of just take out since the Covid pandemic. Ambiance is not the best but slightly larger than an average Chinese takeaway spot. Customer service was decent, as far as I remember. I was wanting some rice noodles so came here. I asked if they had the noodles and the man at ghe register said yes, so I ordered shrimp and chicken rice noodles with veggies. I almost cried when I saw my order. No way it was even close to rice noodles. It was pasta for sure. The small shrimp and chicken were ok and there were some veggies but soy sauce had to be added for flavor. They have remodeled since I was here last and it was much nicer. I ordered from Uber eats. It wasn't anything fancy and the food was pretty sweet and flavor. I ordered both the orange chicken and General tso. Both tasted pretty similar, which I expected, but they were definitely sweeter than normal. Crab Rangoon was OK but not very filled. I don't think I will order again from here. read more

This is a good option for my family of picky eaters when I don't have time to cook and don't want drive-thru fast food. Being a fairly busy working mom, this place has saved the day on more than one occasion. The food is good. I love the portion sizes for my family (my two teens can share an entree with an extra order of rice). My teens love the orange (extra spicy). I have enjoyed the egg rolls, fried rice and wonton soup. The Szechuan chicken (regular) wasn't a favorite for my family but it might be more flavorful if you request extra spicy. Be mindful that this is a restaurant that seems to be designed primarily for takeout. It's small, super casual and only has a few booths available for dining in. No first dates. LOL read more

Recently moved to the area and my prior experience is that Chinese food is quite a search to find the right one. Based on reviews my search didn't take long as orient garden is great and for an up charge a protein can be added to the fried rice, also off the menu are regular fried wontons. I have eaten lunch from OG twice now and both times have been excellent! I always order Hunan Chicken, steamed rice and an egg roll when I'm trying a place for the first time. Each time I've been here, there's a lot of chicken in the entree. It's flavorful and tender and the accompanying veggies are cooked nicely with the right amount of crunch but not soggy. The egg roll is spring roll in size, but very flavorful as well. Kudos to these folks in Cary for putting out some quality shopping center Chinese food! I'll be back in the future! read more

It's our neighborhood Chinese restaurant/take out place, and we like it a lot. The food is definitely above average. Last night we had the beef lo mein, and the dragon and Phoenix special. The beef in the lo mein, for instance, was more tender and tasty than you'll find in some restaurants. The prices are reasonable and the people are nice. They do have some booths, though I suspect that it's more suitable for a quick lunch. read more

We were visiting from TX and felt like staying in, so I ordered and picked up takeout...but first I had to narrow it down to here looking at just 4+ star places and reading reviews for several places North of Hwy 64 and West of I-40 as we were driving from my parents and sister's. I arrived 15 min after placing our order fully expecting to wait, but it literally came out as I walked to the counter. Orange chicken was best I've ever had...the chicken fried rice was good, as was the crab rangoon. The egg drop soup was excellent. I like the online ordering system as you can tailor dishes to your liking (extra broccoli, etc.). The host smiled and thanked me as I picked up my order. Tried Orient Garden after passing it several times. Great decision. Had the Mongolian beef, it was delicious, lots of meat and lots of onions. Egg roll was crunchy and flavorful. Have already gone back to get food for my family, who really enjoyed it. The only thing to note is that this is more of a takeout place. You can sit in, they have booths, but you'll be eating off paper plates with plastic silverware. That being said service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

Loved the fact that we could place our order online (but we couldn't pay online). We came by for lunch on a Wed at around 11:45. Our order was ready within 15 min. Pickup was quick and easy. I had the Hunan Chicken with white rice and egg drop soup. Soup was hot and tasty. The Hunan chicken was not spicy at all. I even ask for extra red spicy oil sauce and it also was not spicy at all. Quantity of food was great. The flavor was bland. Very bland. My daughter had sesame chicken and she agreed about the blandness of the food. Oh. My. From now on, this is the ONLY Chinese restaurant my son and I will ever go to. A while ago I had read this GREAT review for this place but had forgotten the name of the restaurant, but remembered it was off Maynard. Fast forward to last night, I googled Chinese off Maynard and presto, there it was, Orient Gardens. The portion sizes for delivery is MASSIVE, the food itself is simply over the top delicious. The crab ragoons are my fav, but so are the spring & egg rolls. The AMOUNT of pork AND THE QUALITY you get in the Pork Fried Rice, well, you can't compare it to any other Pork Fried Rice because we've tried every local Chinese restaurants and Orient Garden has them beat hands down. Okay, probably not a fair review, but whatever. I won't be ordering from here again. I ordered takeout on a Friday night and was told it would be 30 mintues. I arrived 30 MI utes later, only to hear it would be another 25 minutes until my food was ready. After 25 minutes, I was just told it would at least 10 more minutes. Consistently solid. I'm not super adventurous but when we get takeout, the Sesame or Orange chicken is always hot. We also enjoy shrimp with vegetables, beef with broccoli and other basics. The best Chinese takeout place in the whole area, hands down. It's just a little storefront and you would think how can this place be good, but you'd be wrong. All of the things you think about with Chinese takeout like hot and sour soup, general tso's ect. are all excellent and better than every other place I've tried. The hot and sour soup in particular is one of the only ones in the area that has a strong vinegar taste like I'm used to from Massachusetts. I don't like ggat the rice & noodles only come in 1 size. We placed a to go order & I feel it doesnt live up to the hype. It's just like any other take out Chinese. Egg rolls are tiny & a rip off. I ordered here last night using Door Dash. This was by far the worst food I've ever tasted. I threw it in the trash. I'm understand when buying cheap to go Chinese food that I won't expect a five star dinner, but this ish wasn't even edible. The lo mien was so over cooked it was mushy. Steady Decline of Food Quality! We have lived within a few blocks of the China Pearl in Cary, for 22 years. And it has always been our go-to, Take-out spot... until now. My favorite dish has always been Pork Egg Foo Yung. It used to be very well made, and came with a light-brown gravy. The last several times it was ordered, the sauce was changed to a dark-brown, weird-tasting stuff that was not good at all. And the last order, it came home pretty well burnt! Super disappointed. We went here on a Saturday, and the place was dead empty, which probably should have been a warning sign. Sesame chicken tasted super bland and was drenched in a sauce that tasted only like sugar syrup. Fried rice was bland and dry as well, absolutely zero flavor. Compared to other Americanized Chinese restaurants, this place has better quality and flavor. I would only order from this place if I wanted Americanized Chinese. Their Singapore noodle is not broken or stuck in clumps like other places. They always get my orders right even when I give specific instructions. Best Chinese food in Cary. One of the only places I've been to around here where you can get Sesame Chicken with All White Meat and it is actually ALL white meat. Prices are reasonable, and I found out about their lunch menu the other day - you can get a combination (meal comes with soup and a spring roll i think - i'm not sure because I don't eat them), for $7 for lunch.
