Lumpia. Only 2 left because we ate them up!
Mel C.

Came for the lumpia, I will keep returning for the ube panna cotta! Wow, that was the highlight of our meal. The lumpia was crisp with a nice light wrapper, and I like that it is filled with pork and shrimp. It's a nice shareable appetizer for 2 to 4 people. The chicken adobo was good and served in a rich, thick sauce, the way I like it. But the chicken was cut in random pieces, and it was hard to get meat without pieces of bone in each bite. It pairs well with the garlic rice. The pancit sitanghon is delicious with plenty of crisp vegetables. Do not skip dessert. It was delicious. Price was not bad for 2 entrees, 2 sodas and appetizer, and dessert. They also sell bags of freshly baked pan de sal and jars of garlic sardine to go. Lot, our server was sweet, and others working stopped by our table to ask how our meal was. That warm and inviting Filipino hospitality was apparent here. Salamat po Hong Ning!

Taho and lumpia

Taho and lumpia are all I need in life. They do theirs right. They were also really patient with our outrageously large order for dine in and takeout.

BBQ Skewers

Since moving to the 'burbs, this is our go to spot when craving Filipino food. Service can be slow at times, but for the price point and quality of food it's pretty good. Ambiance is casual and more recently I've noticed no issue accommodating large groups. Our go to dishes when we come by... calamari and sisig to start, BBQ skewers and chicken inasal are always solid options and an order of the pancit canton as well. Yeah I know seems random, but these are my favorites. They do have a lot of all the classic favorites from lumpia shanghai, crispy pata, kare kare, adobo, deep fried bangus (fish), etc. so likely something for everyone. For dessert, the ube panna cotta is very good. Of course could always go with the halo halo, but man that ube panna cotta... Anyways, that's all I got on this one. 'Til next time, salamat po!

Pancit bihon

Tried this place for the first time. I had been craving some lumpia and since there's a limited amount of Filipino restaurants in the burbs near me, I figured I'd try it while out shopping in the area. My BF has never had that cuisine and he's picky so I took a chance! We both enjoyed it. He got the lunch special and let me try a bite of the garlic rice. We agreed that it could be more garlic-y but overall yummy. The pancit bihon was VERY tasty and came with a HUGE portion for the price. We both ate it and I still brought home about 2 servings worth I think. The lumpia was hot and fresh but maybe not as flavorful as I'm used to at work potlucks (we still ate every last bite though haha). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was quaint and clean, loved the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was all very friendly and prompt with service! We would definitely go back again to try some other dishes.

The food was so good and we were so hungry that we forgot to take pictures! You'll have to go there to try it!

Food is great and tastes like someone's Nanay or Tatay made it with so much love! It was served promptly with the hallmark Filipino hospitality. We were a group of ten paying in 5 separate checks and they accommodated our request with no problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean and the tables comfortably seating smaller and bigger groups alike.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The acoustics allows conversations to take place without people having to talk loudly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owners Ernie and Malou were present to help and support their crew. We have always had a great meal at Hong Ning, even at their old location in Glendale Heights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their current location in Carol Stream is bigger and better with ample parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommended!

Grilled pork belly lunch special

I was looking for a good meal after having so much fast food lately and I'm glad I found this gem! I believe this was the first time I ate Filipino food and wow, have I been missing out! I ordered their grilled pork belly lunch special (which was cheaper than a combo at any fast food joint) & it was packed with flavor! The server recommended it to me and I'm glad she did. She was very attentive and sweet. If I'm ever in town again I'll definitely be coming back!

Top to bottom: Crispy Binagoongan, Shanghai Lumpia, Pancit, Garlic Rice
Annie C.

There's not that many Filipino restaurants in the area, so I appreciated how authentic the food was, coming from this family-owned establishment. The food was nothing but packed with flavor! I really enjoyed the Shanghai Lumpia--definitely order if you're considering. It was some of the best I've had. The Crispy Binagoongan was also lovely. It was the perfect balance between meat (crispy pork) and veggie (eggplant). I want to come back and try more dishes. The only thing I would improve about my experience was the ambience. The lighting was very washed out which did not feel super inviting. Our table was also a dirty when we sat down despite it being a slower evening, but those things are just minor compared to the food.

Family has been coming here for years. Good traditional Filipino food. My regular order might be: Camaron rebosado Chicken inasal with java rice Halo halo Calamares Calamansi juice Sinigang Staff is nice and decor makes you feel like your in a Filipino dining room.

This is only my second time going to this restaurant. I love the mixture of two cultures as they serve both Filipino and Chinese food. Our waitress, was very polite and took our order effectively. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is somewhat lively, but somewhat peaceful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only con about this place is that there is 90 minute time limit per table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely recommend the garlic rice and sisig (The Crispy Sisig). I also love the Pancit palabok.

We've been going to this place since the 90s back when we still live in St Charles. They serve authentic Filipino dishes that never fades. Now we live and the city and we still trek out here. It's great for groups, little to no wait time and always reliably delectable plates.

Pusit (calamari in garlic butter sauce), Sinigang na Bangus (milkfish in tamarind base soup), Garlic Fried Rice
Angie C.

We are repeat customers at this Filipino restaurant. We normally order lechon, kare-kare, and/or chicken adobo. These are all good here. However this time we decided to have something different. Pusit (calamari in garlic butter sauce) was so tender and flavorful. Sinigang na Bangus (milk fish in tamarind base soup) packed a nice tangy and savory punch with lots of veggies. I'll have to remember to skip the garlic fried rice next time; just got used to ordering it. Soup would be better with plain steam rice. Nevertheless we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Service was excellent and prompt. Our server was a sweetheart. Forgot to get her name.

Went to this joint for the first time tonight for dinner with my partner…read more My son recommended their crispy pata and lumpia Shanghai, so we tried those along with their homemade siomai. My goodness, everything was so good! The crispy pata has an incredibly crispy skin, with soft, tender, and flavorful pork meat inside. We were told by the owner, Ryan, that they slow cook the meat in its own juices for 6 hours prior to deep frying it. The result is nothing short of one of the best interpretations of this favorite Filipino dish. Definitely my favorite! The lumpia is top-notch -- crispy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. The siomai is garlicky and delicious as well. All of this for just $32. The price is unbelievable considering the quality of food they are serving. Everything was fresh and served hot from the kitchen, unlike the typical Filipino "turo-turo" style restaurant. They also have combo meals for $12.99 all day. I have to try their lechon belly and crispy kare-kare next time. This place is truly a hidden gem! You have to try it, and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family. Thanks to the owner, Ryan. I think you have a winner here!

It's across the street from Arby's in a small strip mall. You'll definitely have to make a U-Turn because getting into the lot is weird. Plenty of parking since it is a shared lot. We decided to do two combo meals plus the aristocrat chicken. When dining in, there are about 4 tables so it can be limited if there is a rush hour. The owner was very pleasant and he explained about the items before we looked at the menu. Lumpia was crispy and tasty. Garlic rice was a little oily but still good. Overall, it's about a 4. I would have given them a 5 but that rock hard crispy kare kare is hard to forget. However, I'll return to try other items. -crispy kare kare with garlic rice and lumpia 3 - I wanted to like this but the crispy kare kare was a huge let down. It was very tough to eat. I've had Filipino food many times and it was never this hard. It's a shame because the peanut sauce with the veggies and eggplant were delicious. -bbq pork belly (liempo) with garlic rice and lumpia 5 - I really liked the BBQ pork belly. Very easy to cut with a spoon. Meat was well seasoned. It is fatty, so it's best to eat it with rice. -aristocrat chicken 5 - highly recommended. Chicken is extremely flavorful even for leftovers. Meat is very moist and juicy. Nice balance of sweet and salty. I should have gotten the 10 pieces.

The staff is friendly, and this is located in a strip mall, and there is plenty of parking They have all sorts of Asian produce and dry, canned goods and frozen items as well that you don't typically find in major grocery stores. In the back of the store, they have a hot food area, where they display Filipino dishes for the day, which is supplies last, so I tried to come here as early as I can so that I would have all the options to pick for lunch. They also continue serving their dishes while supplies last and they have combo meals which is affordable and they also have seating area where you can enjoy your food. If you want to sample something don't be shy ask if you can have a taste so you can decide if you would like to order that dish or not. You could also order Filipino catering food here as well, which you would order at the cashier register and depending on how far you are located from the store you can also have delivery as well. Overall, it's a nice local Asian store. I would highly recommend to come here and take a look and enjoy their dishes as well. I will definitely come back here.
