Ehhhh, I am always hesitant to deal with local businesses because of how they treat women. This place was really no different Customer service was cool. The first guy was a bit confused on my request. I already knew they didn't have the tire I wanted so I bought it elsewhere and came here to have it put on. He was totally lost on me just needing the tire put on. I have wheel locks and I don't have the key. The man said hey we can't get the tire off. I said no problem, drop the car and I'll go elsewhere (because yes I am jacked up ATP) They do something and find a key, switch the tire. The owner I assume comes out to sale me a key, ok boom I buy it. Then I'm showed a hub covering THEY BROKE. Maybe because I was driving a Benz it was okay but I was told if I BUY the coverings, they'll put it on. HUH?! lol U BROKE IT and I have to replace it? I said okay and left. Why argue? I came here with a screw in my tire. I called two different Belle tire's and they both told me they were booked out going into the following week. Another one said my car would have to be there for four hours. I called this place and they said the turnaround time would be 20 minutes. I drove there, sat in my running car listening to music, and they popped the tire off and took it into the shop and had it back on within 10 minutes. 30 bucks. I got a flat tire on Jefferson this morning. I was 2 minutes from an auto repair place. The auto place didn't have my size tire in stock so they put on the donut and directed to Hood's only 1.5 miles away on Mack. Hood's Tire Services is family owned and I never knew they existed. They were so friendly and quick, they had my tire in stock and had it on my car in under 15 minutes. New tire, reasonable prices. Such an awesome experience to receive such wonderful service. Hood's is good. They provide drive-thru tire repair service for any size tire, at a reasonable price. And they don't whine. Car tire that's still on the car, car tire that's off the car, boat trailer tire, wheelbarrow tire-- doesn't matter, they fix them all. There's none of the whining I've encountered at the Name Brand tire places-- "your boat trailer tire doesn't fit on our machine." At Hood's they fix whatever tires need to be fixed. The large concrete area in front of the building is often marked off in lanes with cones. You pull up and wait your turn, which for me has always been less than 10 minutes. You stay in your car, lower your window and tell the attendant which tire needs attention. They remove the tire from your car or take it out of your trunk, take it in to their garage, fix it and bring it back to you. The usual charge is $10, and I've always paid cash. That's all there is to it. I once bought a used tire from them, to get me by until my original tire could be replaced under warranty. I hate driving on donuts! I think I paid $20 for that, including putting it on my car. It worked out just fine. We've sometimes bought tires online, and had Hood's mount and balance them for us. That service was also $10/wheel. I've never bought new tires or rims from Hood's, so I don't know about their selection or prices for those items. Hood's has signs prominently displayed on their building and around their property: "We don't buy stolen tires or wheels." I much appreciate their position on that issue! This is a neighborhood must use. They are professional and quick! You pull your car in under the awning, you don't get out, they jack your car up, fix your tire and your done! You can even pay from your car with their wireless card reader! I would go here instead of one of the big box places that charge you a ton and make you wait forever. read more

The best. I hit a pothole the other day - Belle Tire said it was probably a rim bend. They asked me to leave the car (for 5 hours). Said if the rim was bent they'd have to send it out which would take 2-3 days to get fixed. So I went to Hoods. They took off the wheel, fixed the rim (it was bent). Back on the road in 1/2 hour for $25. Owner is great. People that work there are really nice. Been in business for 40 years for a reason. And they've got great t-shirts for sale $10. We stop here for all of our tire needs, we have had tires replaced, tires fixed and random tire issues that they have taken care of very quickly. Places like Belle tire you wait for 3 hours, we are always in and out of Hoods in record time. Most of the time we don't even have to get out of the care. Yesterday, I came in to get a tire replaced. I was told my rim was cracked and I could either get a "temporary bandaid" or replace the rim. I asked for the rim to be replaced. They quoted me $120. Then they said they didn't have a rim in stock and that they would "fix" my cracked rim for $100. I said I would wait and just replace the rim. They assured me that they would fix it to hold. I paid for a used tire and rim repair. This morning my tire was completely flat. I would not recommend this incompetent tire repair place. I actually just asked them to put my spare back on. A friend of mine needed a set of 4 tires for her car that is to come off lease in a few months, because winter is coming and 6 months is too long to ride on unsafe tires. I checked into a few places that all said they had a descent collection of good used tires. We picked this place because they had better hours than the rest. All I can say is wow...good deal on OEM Michelin tires with hardly any wear. The staff was nice and, even though they were very busy, we were in and out in less than a half hour. AMAZING SERVICE! Eric Hood, the owner truly deserves and award from the city of Detroit or at least a much expanded customer pool. My sister and I were stranded late on a Saturday night and literally EVERYONE was closed and said we'd have to wait until Monday. Not Mr. Hood though. He patiently listened to our dilemma and waited for us to get there even though his shop was already closed! We were in and out in less than 10 minutes.
