We love this place as it's right in our town. Solid food and great staff. Love the burgers. It's usually busy but not too loud. We do like the outdoor patio when it's not too hot. Quite a few parking spots but some of them are tight. Don't like that. read more

Update August 2026: Following my last review, management reached out and offered an apology and a gift certificate with a plea to give the restaurant a third chance. I appreciated the offer and accepted. We returned to the Tega Cay location for dinner last night. Unfortunately, I experienced the *exact same* error with my entree. I ordered the Hoof Burrito and it was delivered to the table *again* missing both rice and queso despite the menu description of "Juicy chicken, dreamy homemade queso, crunchy lettuce, our famous pico and soft, fluffy rice all bundled up in a tortilla hug." Truly a disappointment and an obvious miss on whatever quality assurance methods are in place in their kitchen. I'm keeping my review at 3 stars as my wife's entree was delivered correctly, the server was genuinely pleasant, and the food delivered was not bad but it did not match the menu description and I feel like I was financially shorted given that some key ingredients were left out of the dish. To the server's credit, they did offer a remake of the entree and a free dessert to make up for the error but the damage was done with three strikes against the restaurant in three visits. The remake arrived as my wife was finishing her entree so I had it boxed for a leftover lunch the next day. After that was all handled with the server, the manager came by and asked how we enjoyed our meal. Once I explained the repeated error, she then explained that she heard about that in the kitchen. In turn, why would you approach the table and ask generally how the meal was when you know that there was a problem that was a repeat problem for a customer? My entrée, the Hoof Burrito, arrived missing an ingredient -- the rice that was supposed to be part of the burrito. When I pointed it out, the server immediately offered to bring the rice separately or have the entire entrée remade. I chose to just eat it as‑is given that I was already halfway through it, and it was still decent even without the rice. That said, it became a pick-up and eat item instead of a knife and fork item as there was nothing to hold it together when cut. Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday and was hoping to see a few brunch options on the menu, but unfortunately, they don't offer any. I ended up ordering the BLT with a baked potato. BLT: 3/5. It was a pretty standard sandwich, but the toast was very hard--so hard it actually cut the inside of my mouth. Maybe I just have a sensitive mouth, but yeah... not ideal. The baked potato, however, was a solid 5/5. Perfectly baked and well seasoned. My friend ordered a burger and requested it cooked medium, but it came out closer to medium rare. Aside from that, it was flavorful and well seasoned, so overall the burger landed at a 4/5. Price-wise, most of the menu leans expensive. I was eyeing the Cobb salad, but once you add a protein, it would've been around $25+, which is more than I want to spend on lunch. If they added a few brunch items, it would make this place feel more well-rounded--steak and eggs would've been a great addition. Service was great. Our server was attentive, and the manager even stopped by to check on us. The ambiance is more of a relaxed, chill vibe, but it didn't quite match the higher price point in my opinion. Welcome H & B, we've been waiting! They just had their soft opening last night and open for lunch today so I stopped in for a bite. I sat at the bar and my server was Alicia H who was very nice. She told me she started at the York location and had been there about a month. I had the grilled cod tacos on flour tortilla. It comes with pico de gallo queso and garnish with several limes, you can add lettuce etc but there is an up charge, no option for regular salsa which was disappointing. As you can see from the photo I posted, it's served on what looks like a wooden bread board. The pico has so much liquid you got a pool of water running off the board on to the table. You also go one side so I went with the steamed broccoli florets which were tasty. They also offer a Vet discount which was nice. They offer a first responder discount as well. I really liked the vibe, very relaxed and casual. This was a former Famous Toastery which evidently was not so famous. It has outside patio seating and inside a large dining room with large tables, 4 and 2 tops as well as large tables for groups. There is also an adjoining room off the main dining room where there is a nice fire going. They also have heat lamps so if it's real cold they can enclose it and light the fire or if it's just chilly crank up the heat lamps. A full stocked bar with many draughts and all your bourbon options. There are also large and small screen HDTV's spread about so you can catch the game. I was most IMPRESSED with the wide menu selection, just amazing all the options, truly something for everyone. Alicia was spot on, very professional and nice, she game me FIVE star service. I tried to tell the manager BJ about my observation regarding the way they serve the tacos on the bread board but he seemed too distracted to take my feedback seriously even though I told him it was NOT a complaint but an observation. I hope they do well because the small town of Fort Mill/Tega Cay just keeps getting bigger by the day and we need more food options. Great service, nice menu, best beans I've ever had, jalapeño burger was cooked perfect medium, seasoned well, I really enjoyed it! The only negative, my wife's small salad was way too small for $8, it was a 3-4$ side salad anywhere else, with that said, it was fresh & well prepared, as was her baked potato. The layout is fairly similar to what it was when Famous Toastery occupied the space; a small waiting area off to the left when you walk in, seating in the middle, and a bar area in the back of the space. The menu is fairly big, with lots of different options. We both got burgers (which were just ok), and fries (which were quite good!). The beer menu is fairly small, and really only has a couple of decent options. The server was terrific! Friendly and attentive, with alot of information on the menu items. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately the service completely overshadowed the experience. Our server did not seem familiar with the menu at all and couldn't answer basic questions. Multiple items we asked for were forgotten, which led to repeated reminders throughout the meal. When the checks arrived, they were incorrect, creating even more frustration and delays trying to get everything fixed. To make matters worse, the menu specifically mentioned a sweet treat for the kids, which was a big part of why we chose this restaurant. Not only did the kids never receive it, but it was never addressed or acknowledged. Dining out should feel relaxing, especially when kids are involved, but this experience was anything but. The lack of attention to detail and poor communication made what should have been an enjoyable outing disappointing. 3 stars Tried Hoof & Barrel in Fort Mill and came away a bit underwhelmed. The food was just okay overall. The turkey sandwich was a little too salty and didn't have much going for it flavor-wise. The Makin' Bakin' burger was slightly overcooked and fairly mediocre, though the bacon jam did help salvage it a bit. The fries were actually the highlight -- crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best thing we ordered. The ambiance leans heavily into a laid-back, country western vibe. That might work for some, but the country music playing throughout the meal was pretty distracting and, honestly, a bit annoying. I might give it another shot down the road, but this visit definitely didn't hit the mark for us. Hopefully just an off day. read more

Stopped in for lunch. They were not busy at all. First observation is the menu is laid out very strange. The entrees are on the front with the apps on the second page. It just reads weird. However, that's a small detail. Second observation is that this food is pricy! Our server was great. She did an excellent job and the food came out very quickly. The food was fine. And I didn't get any ice cream for this review either so Our waitress was amazing and so patient with our questions and our 4 year old attempting to order her own food. Everything came out exactly as ordered, and it was all delicious. Inside was clean and decorated nicely and BONUS...a basket of blankets right by our table for anyone who gets cold in restaurants!!! I would first like to say that we were at this restaurant on Mothers Day and had a pleasant experience. Not so much with this Fathers Day! We arrived there apx 9:45. 3 adults and 3 children(ages 7-4 yr and an 11 month old). Our breakfast order was taken in a timely manner. After over an hour my daughter asked the server(who we had not seen in some time and who never came to check on us) where were we in the line. She said there were 2 orders ahead of us. After an additional 20 plus min I asked to speak to the Manager and told her of our disappointment. It was almost and hour and half wait(for breakfast). She said she would check on our order. Our waitress finally came over and we asked where we were in the line. She stated there was still one order in front of us! This, after 20 plus minutes. The Manager came over with the children's food(which we were very appreciative for). Our food was out in a few minutes. However, the Manger never offered a discount on our food, or even something extra for the children. I understand it was a holiday but to wait well over an hour and a half for breakfast is crazy. Don't believe any of the five star reviews on any apps or websites. They literally ask for five star reviews in exchange for free ice cream. I'm posting this on behalf of my girlfriend who doesn't have Yelp. The server Kimberly apparently seemed to deliberately ignore my girlfriend, even though she was sitting in the middle of the table. She not only totally skipped over her while taking orders, but also seemed to skip over her every time she came by to fill her water. She even ignored her while she was collecting menus even though my girlfriend held hers out for her to collect. Everyone else got their food except her. One person from the group called her back, and told her what happened. To her credit, she came back and was very apologetic and then treated her well from there on out. Weirdly enough, they ask you to give them a five star review in exchange for free ice cream. It's weird to try to bribe people for reviews, especially after totally ignoring one person at the table until someone complains. read more

We didn't even receive water until the server assistant brought out our food and we specifically asked for it. It was just okay, the interior looks almost exactly the same as when it was Toastery except bringing a couple high tops in bar area, not more bar seats, same as before. Came for happy hour just before Christmas and sad to say they have no happy hour or lunch menu. Friend had a hot dog, I had bacon wrapped shrimp which was too deep fried. We each had 2 beers & their beer prices are ridiculous. $8.00 for Blue Moon & $8.50 for White Zombie - no place in the area charges that much for 16oz draft beers. The Hoof & Barell Restaurant is just past the Discount Tire store on Route 160 I was quite impressed with the food, service and quality employees. Just got back from lunch for the 1st time at this establishment I ordered the delicious flank steak and I guess it was a little beyond medium rare I was loving it anyway, well out comes the kitchen manager Jerry and sets this side dish of flank steak Infront of me and said here this is more like a medium rare well I never complained, I told him! Well if you can't eat it all let some of the party taste it so I did and about six of our party of 30 had a piece everyone loved it. The personnel handled our party from Regency Palisades just perfectly in there front seating area with a roaring fireplace. You won't be disappointed. Say Hi to the Kitchen manager Jerry for me. Sides were not great. Grilled veggies not edible in vinegar-forward thick sauce and mac and cheese was a dried lump. Server asked if we would like fries or beverages to go since not happy with sides. She didn't rush us on ordering, we took our time, ordered drinks... several different kinds since they have a fabulous cocktail menu. Food was piping hot, fish was delicious, maybe a little too dark of a fry for me but the white meat was tender and juicy. Mac and cheese was very tasty. My husband had the pork chop. He said the flavor was good but a little over cooked for his liking. Friends had the cobb salad that was huge and the cod as well. The toffee dessert was very tasty.
