Best Seafood in Georgia. Love the size of their crab legs and the spinach is outstanding. Servers are very friendly and efficient

I was in Atlanta for a few weeks and wanted seafood. The restaurant is located in an attractive complex of apartments, shops and restaurants. Even though many restaurants are having trouble employing servers, the restaurant seemed sufficiently staffed. Our waitress was quick to help us, drinks came quickly as did the food. In hindsight I should have ordered plain steamed crab legs. As it was mine were service with a spice rub which made them extremely messy to eat, although still delicious. They have an outside patio. It was a pleasant experience and if I were still in Atlanta, I would go back! A bit pricey but so is all seafood. read more

I Stumbled across this place a year ago on my way back from work. They had a scoutmob deal and was looking for some decent seafood. They are coventry located off South Atlanta rd. Behind the Starbucks.. Parking is available through the shopping center. They use Uber eats for deliveries. They have a out door patio. Indoor cafe and booth style seating. High top seating and a bar. The Food. There menu is mainly seafood. And the food is pretty consistent. I have had there Lobster rolls, fried shrimp, boil shrimp, grilled oysters and grilled crab legs. After 4pm they have half off peel and eat shrimp. And on Tuesdays all you can eat grilled crab legs. Out side the food they serve only local and craft beer on draft and full bar. The verdict. The place is solid. Great seafood. Consistent service and Great food specials. read more

I had a great experience at Hook Line & Schooner. I ordered Jumbo shrimp and scallops from the fried menu ($20.95). They came with fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies. They were delicious. I'd definitely would be back. It was pretty slow for a Saturday at 8PM so we were seated right away. read more

So as a Marylander I'm snobby when it comes to seafood, that being said Hook Line and Schooner meets my requirements. First, let me just say I was a big fan of the hush puppies. Fried to perfection with a hint of heat. I had the she crab soup as well, but that was admittedly underwhelming. It was a bit bland and could have used some Old Bay. My friends shrimp platter was solid. Nothing ground breaking, but delicious nonetheless. The shrimp paired well with a rather sizable beer list made my dining experience quite pleasant. This was my second go round with Hook Line & Schooner and I'll be coming back. So, my advice for those seeking a seafood experience would be to definitely give this restaurant a shot. read more

After an extremely long day yesterday I went here and sat at the bar with my friend and had 2 of the best old fashions and bowl of their She crab Soup which did not disappoint at all. The two biggest mistakes I made was forgetting to get a slice of cake to take home with me. They have a HUGE selection of amazing desserts and I will go back to try. Excellent seafood! Hook Line & Schooner is consistent, fresh seafood one of the more high quality take out meals you are going to get in the Smyrna/Vinings area. Don't be afraid to order seafood takeout. They do it right. Covid precautions are very well followed. We had shrimp and grits and blackened grouper and they were wonderful. It's a nice spot, and the service was great, but I came for the all you can eat crab legs and was disappointed. For $50 you would think they would season them. A little bit of old bay seasoning would go a long way. Other than that, I have no complaints. read more

I have given this place three tries and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME, they disappointed me. I wouldnt feed this dog to my dead dog, Shirley. It started awhile back with their all you can eat crabs. That was a hot pot of Gar-Bhage! They crab legs were mushy and had absolutley no taste. The second time I came, I had the disappointment of dealing with a stuck up waiter. No need to tell his story, he isnt worth it. The third time, after the first bite, I told them ill pay for my sweet tea, but im not eating this hot bowl of trash. I've always enjoyed the food here and haven't had a bad experience. Normally it's crowded but not to the point of a wait. Thursday's are my favorite night, they do half off wine bottles and 75 cent / $1 oysters. Their brunch is okay but their $4 massive bloody Mary's make up for it. read more

I'll start with the obvious positive - our service was incredible! I noticed our waitress was wearing a Bassnectar wristband so we told her how we saw him at Coachella and started talking about all the music we liked. Super fun and friendly - also did not hinder her from getting our food out quickly and checking on us. However, my boyfriend and I were not particularly impressed by the food. He ordered the snapper and I ordered the fried grouper - both were a little lackluster/bland. Same goes for the green beans and seafood chowder. The one thing I really liked was the house salad dressing - I highly recommend it if you get an entree that comes with the house salad! read more

I really wanted to like this place because they donate money to some local charitable causes and they're a locally owned business. Unfortunately our experience there made it impossible to like anything beyond that. My husband and I went in for lunch. The place was empty except for two other tables (a one top and a four top). We ordered two soft drinks. When our server returned with them, we asked for another minute to decide on our order. She must have assumed we needed time to memorize the whole menu because after 5-6 minutes, I got up to find her. I asked the (very nice) gentleman behind the bar to send her our way if he saw her, which he promptly did. We ordered. I ordered the fried fish tacos, not realizing they needed to catch the fish for the tacos. Nothing else explains how terribly long it took for our food to come. At some point, we had to ask a random employee to refill my soda. Complimentary crab dip and crackers was delivered to the table. It looked awful and tasted just as bad. Finally, our lunch arrived. My fish tacos would have more appropriately been called lettuce tacos, because they were primarily lettuce. The food wasn't bad. It was just bland. $11.00 for bland fish tacos made mostly of lettuce seems a little pricey to me, especially with mediocre service. One the plus side, the place looks clean. The atmosphere isn't bad and they are dog friendly on the patio. The patio area looks really nice and it is a locally owned small business. I can't say those are reasons for me to return though. read more

So we just went here and had the worst experience. They sat us and then we were ignored for twenty minutes. We let that slide because it was a Friday night, and we all get a little overwhelmed at times. So after finally getting an order placed, we waited 45 more minutes for a half dozen raw oysters. Yes, 6 raw oysters took 45 mins to prepare at a seafood restaurant, yeah, about that. During this time at least 5 parties of people came in and received all of their food including a party of 7. After complaining to the waiter and the manager about the wait there wasn't even so much as an apology. The waiter even tried to come back with a sarcastic quip which is incredibly bold for someone who screwed up, didn't put in the order and was marginal at his job, at best. We waited another 30 mins for the actual entree which hadn't come so I had the hostess go get the manager from the kitchen. I'm sure some think this wasn't enough time but mind you during this time we watched literally 20 people who came in after us get their food which was ridiculous considering we were only 2 people. I told the manager that we were leaving and that we would pay for the drinks and the order of oysters that we had. This was probably about 25 dollars. The manager said that she would take care of the entire meal but we elected to leave. Even with a free meal we were unwilling to stay and eat it as the level of service and professionalism was absolutely appalling. My thing if you screw up, acknowledge that and work to rectify it instead of ignoring us repeatedly for an hour like a child. It wasn't a pleasant experience for me either but at least I tried to talk it out like an adult and not like a petulant child. I will never return as the culture of this place is obviously lacking if they actually are complicit in allowing such behavior. read more

Jennifer our waitress was extremely rude. Our fish and chips tasted like old grease oil. She never came to check on us until the end of our meal. When we stated we didnt like our food, she was starting to blame us saying "if you told me i could have gotten you something else" with a attitude. She didnt even apologize, I witnessed her and a blonde women talking crap about us and the situation. Well how are we gunna tell you, if you never came to check on us!?!?! On top of it , i paid in cash and was expecting to receive my change back and she kept it! You wait until I tell you to keep the change not just assume thats your tip. Recently order the dos tacos and wings for dinner. The wings were great but the tacos were basically lettuce and tortilla.. Very disappointed in the lack of shrimp(two small pieces) and chicken (literally the size of a quarter)in each shell. For the price, throughly disappointed in the quantity. read more

This is one of the best surprises I have found in Georgia. Ted and Rosie have nailed it with there wonderful seafood restaurant and tavern. The food was great, everyone that was working there enjoyed there job. The other patrons looked like they were loving it as much as we were. This review is for my second visit here. I came a year or so ago and wasn't impressed. Decided to try them again because they had a deal in the dining out passbook and also because the location was perfect for me to meet family here. Came on Wednesday evening with my sister and aunt to celebrate my aunts birthday. Restaurant is located on the far left in the plaza and there's free parking in front of the place. Inside there are booths, bar seating and tables. We were seated in a booth by the window overlooking their patio area. My sister and aunt had already eaten the Brussels sprouts appetizer which they enjoyed. Wine bottles are half off Wednesday (yayy) so we ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris which was great. My aunt ordered fried shrimp and sister got stuffed shrimp which they both enjoyed. I ordered grilled mahi with soy glaze, roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts. It also came with a side salad. Here's where things took a left. The fish was served with the sauce on the side so I dipped the fish in and the sauce was extremely salty. Inedible. I asked the waitress for the other sauce offering and was given a side of cold herbed butter. I decided to just eat the plain unseasoned fish without any of the disappointing options. The roasted potatoes were just okay because most of them weren't fully cooked so they had raw potato texture on the inside. I decided to pack the rest of them to take home with my plain fish to doctor them up the next day. I did enjoy the roasted Brussels sprouts so I ate those to fill myself up. There was another issue. The actual day we were here was my aunts birthday. She is special needs but highly functioning and kind of likes the extras on her birthday. We notified the waitress about her birthday and she said "ok" and gave us the cake menu. No mention was ever given to the other house desserts they have. My aunt picked chocolate cake which was brought out by a nice gentleman & our waitress hadn't come by to check on us. I was expecting a little more TLC since we had a birthday like maybe a small complimentary dessert with a candle. I was charged for the cake (no big deal). So as we're leaving my aunt is very disappointed and upset as she saw some other table receiving a cute dessert with a candle in it for their birthday and she wasn't given the same courtesy. I was also a bit shocked that there was no candle and felt horrible for my aunt because i wanted her to enjoy the whole experience. The cake was delicious but for the price I would like ice cream with it as well. Overall If you're in the area it's worth a try but I'd avoid the fresh fish preparations especially the soy sauce. I think this was my last visit here. read more

Passed by Hook Line & Schooner for the last two years on the way home from work and never stopped by. That changed two weeks ago. All I can say is amazing!!! Great beer----even better food. While I'm a native Southerner, I lived for at least 10 years in New England. I'd pretty much despaired of ever finding delicious grilled lobster anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line...then I found "HLS!" I've lived near them since they opened, and it's now become a regular (at least) weekly addiction...a HUGE delicious salad, loaded baked potato, and (nirvana) a grilled lobster tail with drawn butter...all for less than $30. Combine that with fun and tasty craft cocktails, great beer & wine selection, and killer service (look for Tyler!). A good friend of mine raves over their oysters on the half shell. This is one of those classic "I almost don't want to tell you about it because I want to keep it to myself" places, but I want these guys to be here a very, very, long time, so you should check them out if you're in the area! read more

Location is good with ample parking, hostess was ok and waitress was great! BUT food...appetizers were great! Bang bang shrimp, Brussels and calamari, YuM. However the pasta and fish and chip entrees were much to be desired. Absolutely no FLA out what so ever in the Alfredo linguine. Blacked shrimp were way to salty and if I hadn't asked for the Parmesan cheese I do t think I could have eaten it, plus 5 small shrimp and 2lbs of pasta is a little ridiculous. Fish and chips was the same, fries were good and so was the slaw but fish was completely bland. Fish tacos were good and so was the burger per the teenagers. Desserts were delicious but way to much, half the size and price would have been ideal. Nice place but def need to get the flavor locked down on some dishes I wouldn't pay for those dishes again. Children's fish sticks and fries was not good, fish were off cuttings of a whole fish and there were spiked pieces that we had to remove. Real fish sticks would be better for children. read more

Scallops were a good size and cooked perfectly but the herbed citrus butter made it amazing My husband got the crispy flounder and couldn't even eat half it was so big - 2 lbs! Came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was empty when we got there, and was greeted right away. Service was very nice and we got or orders taken in a timely manner. I got the crab cakes salad and it was very good. If there was anything I could add is that the crab cakes could have been a little bigger and more to the salad than just lettuce. I love this place! Honestly never had a bad experience, service or meal! We went with a group of friends just yesterday and the waitress was very attentive to us our meals were prepared well and fresh! It's a pretty nice atmosphere as well. Everyone was pleased with the experience as a whole. The only complaint that I have if you can really call it a complaint is that I ordered oysters and they didn't seem as good as they usually are... it could just be the season. They were dry... like the chef removed all of the liquor which is one of the great parts of the eating oysters experience. Also, they weren't cool enough, which can lead toward bacteria... i would just say to be careful... because you can't really mess around with raw oysters... I do understand... consuming raw foods is at the risk of the consumer. I ate them anyway I didn't deem it to be life threatening like I said those were minor issues to me. Anyway, it's a great place. I have eaten here before a couple of times and the food was kinda spicy but ok I suppose. This time we ordered online to the tune of almost $90 for 2 meals which I thought was steep. Then the food was underwhelming to say the least. Not only was it too spicy bit it was fried so hard that we almost could not eat it. The green beans were ok but the mashed potatoes were so dry that I considered using it to repair a small hole in my wall. The 2 stars I gave are based on the dine in experiences but NOT for this one.
