I've been to both locations, and the food is so good! This location has its own parking lot and doesn't get too crowded, which is a plus. I've tried the griot, cabrit, and Djon Djon rice with shrimp, and everything has been delicious. The drinks are worth the price, and that Haitian rum is good and STRONG! I also love the cute atmosphere and simplicity of the design. The employees are knowledgeable about Haitian culture, which makes the experience even better. This place was so good. Definitely has one dishes I had never heard of or tried before. I wasn't trying to eat too heavy so I had an appetizer. I tried the plantain nachos with chicken. They were very good. The plantain nachos provided and interesting texture. The chicken was well seasoned and the other toppings provided a good compliment. Zeke's in Smyrna is easy to locate off South Cobb Drive. I was working nearby and customer told me how good their oxtail were. She showed me a picture. I had been wanting to try their food so figured give it a try. I placed an order for Haitian patties, Oxtail, and a side salad. When I arrived, I reviewed the receipt and noticed the price of the oxtail increased from $38 to $42. The price on the website is not currently reflecting the prices being charged. I use the unkind app but it was not working so could not use it to pay. The hostess said it was an ongoing issue. Let's discuss the food. My coworker enjoyed her Haitian patties. She said the island slaw was really good. The side salad is the house salad. I asked for balsamic dressing when given the option. There was none on that salad. Sigh. The oxtail were good. They were very well seasoned and had a good flavor. The rice and beans were good but not enough. The rice could have been cooked a tad bit longer. It wasn't fine bur like 1 minute when have been perfect. I did not dine in but it looked nice inside. There was a decent amount of people there. It was clean and nicely decorated. Every last bite of food and every last drop of our drinks were delicious! It's food in restaurants like this that makes you want to lick the fork to get every last crumb. *no forks were licked* The food was so good after eating our appetizer or plantain nachos I dived right into our mains before taking pics. The waitress along with other staff members were extremely polite and helpful. I will say my only qualm is that it took a while for the waitress to return to our table. Once our food was brought out they never returned to check in. Even after the plates were cleared it took another 10-12 mins to be acknowledged. Coming from a big city, this might be a skewed version of events as I am accustomed to wait staff checking in at least once but nonetheless food was amazing. I thought it was a sport's bar. My taste buds began to activate when I saw the Haitian dishes on the menu. We had hit the jackpot. This spot is Zeke's second location and seemed brand new. Sonya, our charming and welcoming server took us under her wing. She helped us navigate the interesting choices. I ordered the oxtails and my partner chose the Djon Djon bowl. OMG, the flavors made our toes wiggle. With just the right amount of heat, the oxtails might be the best I ever tasted. All I heard from my spouse was cooing as she devoured the Djon Djon. The portions were so huge, we enjoyed these dishes again ten hours later after drinking at a reception. I'm smacking my lips now. We're from Minneapolis, visiting Atlanta. Please open up a Zeke's in the Twin Cities. My only concern was Sonya was the only server, and the area she had to cover, including the outside patio, was too much by herself. The plantain chips had good flavor there were just a little dry. The jerk chicken on the nachos had great flavor, the chicken was also on the dry side. The pico and lime crema were perfect and important adds to the dish for freshness and acid. My friend ordered the ceviche. It came with plantain chips as well. Same feedback for the plantains, the ceviche was excellent. The seafood tasted real fresh and acid paired so well. I had the shrimp tacos for dinner. They were outstanding. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and moist. The slaw and aioli had a great amount of heat, sweetness and acid at the same time that made the tacos super tasty. Zekes delivers in so many levels perfect amount of fusion in the Haitian style dishes. I have been many times and haven't had an item I didn't love. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Of the five days that I was visiting family in Smyrna, I willingly and excitedly ate food from here three of those days. I have never come across a rice dish so rich in flavor fresh and dense. I could taste every single ingredient and it compliment the others so well. Outside of my addiction to the djon djon, this restaurant did many other things so well. For visiting within an hour of closing, you couldn't tell with with me enthusiasm and genuine niceness from the server and employees, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the food maintained its freshness. We also had the Haitian Patties and Mais Moulin dishes within our party, and both were very good. I got the coconut mojito cocktail and that was also delicious, as I was surprised how the mint / rum and coconut milk didn't override each other in flavor. Its not a large place which i prefer so I can get the full experience and a true feel for a place. We had the jerk Plantains nachos and the half roasted chicken with black rice. I have been here now two times once dine in and once carry out. It's a small spot off South Cobb and the service has always been good. They have a nice amount of seating available and an area when you walk in to order or pick up food to go. Yesterday, I ordered the bowl which is very good and comes with plantain. The bowl is $13 and I added the salmon which brought my total to $27 so you do the math. The amount of food was good but I think the salmon was overpriced. The best Haitian food in Atlanta. The food is so flavorful and authentic. You can tell that the chef really takes it seriously. The drinks are strong and they even have five dollar margaritas on Mondays. The restaurant is also very spacious and well kept. They have indoor and outdoor space for when it's nice outside. We were lucky enough to visit on Haitian Flag Day and the place had a festive spirit. I had the Mais Moulin, which were fried grit cakes in a super flavorful gravy with shrimp. My daughter's shrimp tacos came with a slaw that we were warned was quite spicy so she got it on the side, I think I ate all of that too! Well I read the reviews and I tried this place. To me, it's a solid 3 stars. I got the jerk chicken salad. My daughter got the salmon and my friend got some fish we never heard of because they were out of the red snapper. There was simply nothing and I mean nothing to write home about. The food was small portioned and very BASIC. My daughter hated her food, stating that the salmon was super fishy smelling and not seasoned well. She asked for a lemon sauce to help it. My friend quite enjoyed his fish, but the rice and peas were dry and hard. I tried them and they should not have even served that. My salad was ok. It was just a basic chicken salad. Nothing remotely spectacular. We tried the desert and the rum cake was really good. My daughter complained about the brownie and I tried it. I had to agree with her, it was nasty. Our waitress Neicey started out good but got worst as the night went on. She just got slower and inattentive. We waited like 20-30 minutes for her to get dessert and then another 20-30 after asking for the check. So we were there like 40 minutes longer than necessary. I came here with some family and friends from out of town. One of them being Haitian, so I was pretty excited to get his review on this place. Anyway, parking is always easy and I was able to get a table despite not making reservations for my rather large party. I got there early, so I started off with gin & juice and their Haitian Pattie's. Both were very good choices. Once my party arrived, we ordered additional rounds of drinks and our entrees. Three of them had the Fried grit cakes & shrimp and they all loved it. My vegetarian friend had the Djon Djon veggie and he loved it. My cousin had their fish and I opted for the chicken that came with white rice and black beans. I will say there was more bean juice than actual beans, but it was still delicious. We had a great time. The environment is always chill and I love that they always play kompa or Haitian music in the background. Our waitress Kinsey was very attentive and funny!
