Can't say enough about the food here. The entrees are limited but exceptionally excellent. I love the freshness & the portions. I go back again & again only to be satisfied EVERY time. The staff is efficient & organized for how busy they are. AND sitting out enjoying your meal right on the dock & water is EXCELLENT. I wish they would stay open just a bit longer in the Fall so the working locals could have a chance to really sit & enjoy after the busy of the summer is over. But nonetheless, always looking forward to my next meal!! read more

Im not here to bad mouth the food, we know the food is good and we can agree on that and definitely attribute the one star for the excellent food. The problem here is the hidden ridiculous charges tacked on my bill (all of your bills of you ordered the crabs.) I didnt relize these charges till my wife pointed it out when where 20 miles north of wildwood on the garden state parkway. Apparently there is a 5 dollar charge to sit at there Rusty, chipped paint table and another for them to cook the crab. A table charge is called. TIP where im from and I leave what I feel is fair for the service provided. How was the service provided you ask? Really non existent because they called my name at a window and I picked up the tray. We also had another treat included in our 5$ rusty paint chipped table charge! The portable toilet company stopped by and cleaned out the portapotty while we where eating our marked up market price crab that cost 5$ to cook! Nothing like chit smell wafting thru the air while your getting taken advantage of everywhich way. Any respectable buisness owner (including myself) knows a service like that is performed afterhours or on days off ESPECIALLY when your establishment is serving food. Visited this place for lunch on a lazy Saturday afternoon after reading a few reviews. Pay attention to the side of the road when your looking for this place. It's a shack and easy to miss. The food is awesome so be on the lookout. Had the fish tacos and the wife had a John Dorey fish sandwich. ( the was one of the catches of the day) Excellent food and super fresh. Ordered a dozen of medium crabs for $25. They are amazing and delicious!!!!!! Must try! One downside is that there are lots of flies and bugs biting your legs. So be prepared when you go order your food. There seared tuna platter was awesome too! read more

Wow! Great Seafood!! We didn't even know this place existed and we lived here for 3 years. Found it in Yelp! What a great find!! I had the crab cake it was fried on the out side but was all crab. Sometimes they have too much filler this didn't! My husband had the special which was the blackened swordfish sandwich which they cut to serve. The shrimp was so good we got a second portion. It is a little expensive and you eat on picnic table but soo good! A MUST TRY!! read more

But hey, it's the beach, people will eat any kind of seafood. With that opinion of food at the shore, I randomly stumbled upon Hooked Up Seafood on a long bike ride. It's incredible. Super fresh seafood mostly caught by the owners of the stand. Pro tips: 1) Smash tons of crabs legs while looking at the boat that caught much of the seafood they're selling. 2) Try it after cycling all over Cape May County. This past summer I returned with my parents and made them believers with the friend flounder sandwich. read more

This place was fabulous. Its your no frills type of seafood market/take out place by the water. Walk up to the window and order what you want. They had at least 3 kinds of fresh fish that were on special (the day we were here it was tuna, flounder and one other) in addition to their regular menu. We got the fish tacos, fried shrimp, peel-n-eat shrimp, clam chowder and a corn on the cob. Ordered our food and grabbed a table in the back right next to the fishing boats (they have about 6 picnic tables back there). We brought a 6 pack of Corona with us. The food came out about 10 minutes later and each thing was better than the one before it. Excellent fish tacos. Chowder was awesome if you don't like a heavy, thick chowder, which I dont. Everything was super fresh. While we were sitting there the truck drove up to delivery the crabs. We will definitely be back. A few things: The parking lot is small. The only bathroom is a port-o-pot by the road. We were there at 6pm on a Saturday, but I imagine had we gotten there later we may not have been able to get a table. If there aren't any tables you really have to take your food and go b/c there isn't anywhere else around to sit. read more

I never had a crab cake and a family friend told me to try them here so i did and boy was it delicious the staff is very nice and you are sitting next to the water good choices on the menu and you don't have to wait long for your food. FIRST TIME VISTOR AND WHOA So, this is not a restaurant. This is a take-out place with seating in the back. You must bring your own everything if you don't want to pay for bottled water or soda and what anything other than plastic utensils. Seriously, we wish we had brought metal silverware and crab knives for the crabs. However, the food was AMAZING, the staff was so kind. The view is lovely and the vibe is very casual and easy to enjoy. You're picnicking behind the great seafood shack they have. Everything is fresh and it seems family run which adds an element of warmth. We can't wait to be back for take-out and picnicking. read more

Wow. Great place ( byob) Got there around 430 and no crowd. The menu is great, half is fried and half is steamed. The fish sticks were the freshest and lightest i ever had really good. The onion rings again were the best i ever had, we watched one of the staff hand make them at the window ( thin light and crispy) the seafood combo was excellent shrimp, flounder and crab cake were awesome. While waiting at our table, We also got to watch the owner filet up the catch of the day, how is that for fresh. Don't think twice and dont miss this place its ex to pass by. After driving into Wildwood Crest and spotting this crab shack on the side of the road, we knew we had to try this place as eating crabs while vacationing on a beach is practically a ritual. We placed an order a couple hours before hand and showed up a little early so we understood why our order wasn't ready yet, but I'm glad it wasn't because that showed to us that the crabs were fresh and not left out for 20 mins waiting for us. A dozen of medium crabs was 35 dollars which is a reasonable price for crabs. We ordered 2 dozen for 70 which was more than enough for our party of 4. As soon as we put the box of crabs in the car it filled the air and our mouths were watering. When we got back to our hotel room and opened the box of fresh-old bay crabs, it seemed as if there were more than 2 dozen but we didn't think much of it until we all finished eating and counted them out realizing there was exactly 2 dozen left so after totaling up how much everybody eating, we realized we received an extra dozen which i'm sure was not intentional but was definitely appreciated (please don't ask them if they give extra crabs just because of my experience i'm sure it was just a mistake). Honestly I think the extra crabs are what made this 4 stat experience a 5 star because now we can whip up some crab cakes and crab dip which is DELICIOUS. The crabs were not the best I've had but definitely not the worst probably a 7 or 7.5/10 and i'm glad they didn't drench the crabs with old bay like some crab joints. The customer service was great, most of the employees seemed to be younger teenagers (16-20) which i'm glad to see a local place hiring some local teenagers trying to make some extra cash. Small roadside stand with seating on the side. The food was good but the cost adds up quick. To feed 2 adults and three kids under 10 it was about 170 with no alcohol on that bill. The food was good though and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Its a BYOB so we brought a nice bottle of wine. The crabs were fresh and the clams were cooked just to our liking. Excellent clam chowder, clams in a delicious broth and John Dory blackened fish sandwich! We decided on the John Dory because we have never heard of it, it was super fresh and light with a nice flavor especially seasoned with the blackened seasoning. Stopped by to pick up some food to go. Next time we're planning on taking time to sit outside at one of the picnic tables near the water. What a great little place. I was impressed by the friendly staff and the food was so fresh and prepared perfectly. YUM. My daughter was with me at the counter and we both noticed the kitchen immediately. Hooked up is our perfect idea of a beach restaurant. Simple - easy - great food - affordable. Grateful we just discovered this lovely place. We shared the John Dory platter and loved it. Granted - my husband chose the fried version --so good -- but we were on vacation so decadence was fine! Their french fries are the real thing - not frozen - and the coleslaw delicious. 20$ and we were set. Could we each have had our own platter? sure -- but thats whats wrong with the diet of most people -- eating huge servings when less food will def suffice.
