After initially having our eye on this charming café for lunch (ended up at Mead Hall in Berk instead), we instead stopped in during a thunderstorm. Thanks to my apparently superior meteorology skills, we quickly dashed over here all the way from Mine Cart Madness after it was closed for weather while we were in the queue. It was clear to me that the weather delay was going to be substantial, and we wanted a more comfortable place to ride it out. This was the perfect choice. We arrived just before the major rush of similarly-minded (but slower thinking) folks looking for shelter and were quickly seated. The ambience is more upscale than the Paris cafes I've been to, reminding me more of the famous cafes of Vienna, Austria. Nevertheless, the high ceilings, wood paneling, soft lighting, and portrait hangings make for a nice spot to enjoy. I would note, though, that when fully packed, it is quite echo-y and loud. I was never able to get the Universal app to allow me the option to pay for things, so I ordered from the counter, which I prefer anyway. For our first round, not knowing how long we'd be there, three of us shared a ham and cheese baguette. It was delicious. Crisp, fresh toasted baguette with just the right proportions of meat and cheese, none of it too salty. The best part, though, was the wonderful surprise of finding Delerium Tremens on the menu. If unfamiliar, Delerium Tremens is a strong Belgian ale, widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world (and it absolutely is). After a long hot day in the park, splitting a couple of these with my wife, in a beautiful cafe during a thunderstorm was the break I didn't know I was going to get. I do appreciate that about the parks, the foods change depending on the area, and include some regional specialties. Be careful though. While Delerium Tremens is well worth the $13.50 price for a can, Kronenbourg 1664 definitely is not! It's a good beer, and unlike Delerium is from France, but it is a standard lager, and way overpriced. We later split the butterbeer crepe. It was very sweet, and like sandwich enough food for three of us to split. I might choose the lemon crepe instead next time, to balance out the sweetness. If you don't like pudding it might be hard to eat. Honestly, the Crepe Citronnee aux Chambord is better. Crepe Citronnee aux Chambord: This crepe is the superstar! Don't feel bad about skipping the Bieraubeurre crepe. The lemon cream cheese inside is light, flavorful, and slightly sweet. The Chambord sauce on top is tart and compliments the fresh berries. It's sharable, but you won't want to. Crepe Parisienne: This breakfast crepe is so good and worth taking time out of your morning. The brie cheese combined with the green apples is a fresh flavor profile. The turkey makes it filling and the yuzu hollandaise sauce is perfect. I wish there wasn't a poached egg on top; it's really runny and with the sauces the egg isn't necessary. Boeuf Bourguignon: Portion size is good for one. There are minimal beef pieces but a good amount of bacon lardons. The beef pieces can be a bit chewy. The mashed potatoes are tasty and overall the dish is flavorful. Soupe et Salade Maison: This is really good French onion soup. Lots of caramelized onions at the bottom of the bowl topped with a thick piece of bread. The soup is covered with a layer of toasted cheese. I recommend this if you like French onion soup. Quiche Lorraine: The crust is good; not too thick. The Mornay sauce prevents the quiche from becoming dry. There is bacon so it can be a bit salty. It's served for breakfast and lunch.

As with most places at EPIC, it can be confusing on how to order. Do I go up to the bartender? Do I use mobile order? Apparently at the tavern, the answer can be "both". The bartender was very helpful and took my drink order and then told me to mobile order any food and pick it up at the window outside. He was funny, too, and gave the history of the Monocane mocktail I ordered. I then placed a mobile order for the Hunter's Garlic Stake. It was ready quickly and then my husband and I stood by the windmill table in the center of the tavern. I do wish there was more seating as our legs were tired after standing and walking all day. The Monocane comes in a fun plastic chemistry beaker and contains pineapple syrup, blue raspberry syrup, passion fruit syrup, Sprite and emerald prism powder. I think my first mistake was seeing the fruit flavors and thinking "juice" instead of syrup. Because while the drink looked really good - a swirling green color - it did not taste good to me at all. It was super sweet (from all the syrups) and tasted a bit fake/wrong as well (I'm sure from the multiple syrups). I tried to suck it down but I could only take several sips before I had to stop. Luckily, because it was so hot out, the bartenders had a whole bunch of iced water cups so we took those. The Garlic Stake however... that was amazing! Crunchy and loaded with garlic, and so yummy. I didn't even think it needed the accompanying garlic sauce. I pretty much ate the whole thing myself, it was so good.

The restaurant has a great themed vibe that reminds you of where you are in the best way I still miss the Chicken and Rice Curry entrée, which was one of my favorites, but the current menu selections have been excellent and have not disappointed. A team member in costume would typically be stationed at the front door, handing out menus for patrons to review while waiting in the short line that is situated inside the building. Upon entering, the interior with its decor and decorations is nothing short of striking. The pub doubles as an inn, stepping right off the pages of the Harry Potter books. The movie set, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was based on the restaurant, which made it feel so authentic. Keep casting one's eyes upward and one can't help but notice the dimmed lighting vibe, beautifully weathered rafters, and cast-iron chandeliers. The ordering process was easy via the Universal app and delivered right to your table. My partner and I decided on their Fish and Chips and slices of Watermelon. Our fish came with tartar sauce (a French addition), of course, and our chips (fries). Lemon wouldn't be usual. Both dishes were crispy, fresh, and genuinely delicious. They were perfectly "on brand" for an authentic, old-school English lunch. The service was extremely quick. The staff were friendly and helpful, even during the busy lunch hour. The flavors were good, and for being in a park, not too far off from a traditional English breakfast. However, it all came out luke warm - which truly detracted from the meal (cold eggs shouldn't be a thing unless you're eating egg salad). The coffee was ok, and at least warm, and the tea/hot water was also luke warm at best.

We had a dinner res/planned visit in November 2022 which was sidelined/greatly postponed due inclement weather produced by Hurricane Nicole. As a precaution, all dinner reservations that night after 6:00pm were cancelled (our was at 6:15pm). Thankfully, during our visit last November 2025, we were able to secure at dinner res for 6:00pm....and we hoped everything would go as planned. And rightly so, as the weather forecast was hot and sunny that day. We checked in for our dinner res about 15 minutes prior, and were able to wait in their lobby/waiting area. NOTES 1. Reservation made via the My Disney Experience App. 2. The food/menu is Thanksgiving all day everyday! It's also AYCE....with dessert included! The AYCE menu includes: 1. Declaration Salad: greens, apples, cranberries, and cheese with House-made dressing 2. Patriot's Platter: roasted turkey, pot roast, pork loin, mashed potatoes, vegetables, herbed stuffing, and mac and cheese. 3. Dessert: Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake ( vanilla toffee cake, chocolate sauce, and vanilla ice cream). 4. House-made gravy and dinner rolls. We also ordered Coke Zero for our drinks. Interestingly enough, we really enjoyed the salad, it was such a great start to the meal. We nearly finished the portion, but we absolutely wanted to save room the main dishes. The Stars (and stripes) of the meal were the turkey, pork loin, and stuffing. Honorable mention goes to the dessert! It also took a while to get the check, and we had to rush out of the restaurant to make our lightning lane reservation for Troy: Light Cycle Run. Sassagoula's coffee situation was poor unfortunately. Mind bogglingly unprepared for the morning rush before park openings, empty self serve coffee containers, and only 1 milk option. In reality there should be at least 3 (whole, 1%, half n half) for that much traffic. One day, I actually had to buy a small carton of milk for our coffees because I wanted to get out of there and make the bus.
