    Hunan beef

I used to love this place for the food and value when I worked in DTC, but my last visit I ordered hunan beef, the portion was so small for over $25, I probably will never go here outside of lunch hours again.....

After having a nice experience and being introduced by some friends to this restaurant, we decided to venture here again. It was tasty and nice, just like last time. The staff was friendly and attentive and [[HIGHLIGHT]]overall, the restaurant was pretty busy, a good sign for sure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One thing I really like about the place is the quantity of food. Each dish has a great quantity on each plate and it feels like a good value. We ordered the crab cheese wontons, which were creamy and filled well, orange chicken, which was one of the better orange chickens I've eaten, my least favorite dish the chow mein, which I would not order again, and a mixed garlic chicken and shrimp dish, which was pretty tasty. Our company ordered the sesame tofu which was surprisingly tasty as well! We did order a showy volcano alcoholic drink. Not very strong and mostly for show. Wasn't actually the best drink and we likely wouldn't order it again. All in all, it was another nice visit with great portion sizes and tasty food. We will be back again to try some more food!

This is our to go place for Chines food! I would recommend them! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is really nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] plus the service unlike to other Chinese restaurants - they are wayyy better!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very spacious, beautiful, high-end traditional Chinese restaurant vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was alright. We liked the lunch combination.

although it was insanely busy when we went, and it appeared that our server was the only server and food runner, the food was great. he had the king pao triple delight and we loved it. the fried rice was great. the crab cheese wontons were so warm & melt-in-yer-mouth deelishusss! i could have eaten just those for appetizers, dinner, & dessert & worn them to bed like a cozy set of pajamas. i had the orange chicken. it was good, but not packed-with-flavor and dance-on-yer-tastebuds-kung-pao-chicken-yummy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience was great. clean, low lights, not really loud for as busy as they were.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]the loo could use some love, for sure. it's a bit dated and run down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the only negative was the wait for the food and the check bc they were understaffed. overall, we will certainly be back & highly recommend that you go!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Hoong's Palace was jam-packed on Christmas night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant has been in South Denver for a while and has quite a league of dedicated customers. Although the taste is more American Chinese, but very delicious nonetheless. Certainly one of the better American Chinese restaurants in town. Here are their beef chow fun, shrimp with walnuts, kung pao triple, squid with black bean sauce, eggplant with garlic sauce, salt & pepper pork and steamed bun with red bean paste.

I like eating family style where 2-4 family all order a different dish and we share. I really like the food here.

Good food but best for lunch. Dinner is somewhat expensive whereas lunch items are more reasonable.

My group of 7 shared the roasted pork, pork and duck barbecue. I'm not a fan of duck so it would not be fair for me to write anything about it, but those who loved duck meat said that this place serve wonderful barbecue duck. As for the pork, both roasted and barbecue, they were so good. We had a little bit of white rice to eat with the meat, but really, you don't need the extra rice in order to eat these two types of pork meats. Since both styles of the pork were prepared differently, I cannot say one is better than the other: they were both delicious. The crunchiness and the flavorful from the roasted pork, as well as the aroma and the soft chewy from the barbecue pork, brings this dining experience to the next level. We also ordered the yu stir fry choy sum in garlic, the combination fried rice, and salt and pepper shrimp. I highly recommend the yu choy and shrimp dishes. I would skip the fried rice and get their beef chow fun, which is exactly what my other group of 6 did. In addition to what were mentioned above, they ordered Chinese broccoli, daikon and beef in clay pot, Taishan five spice duck, salted fish & chicken fried rice. Everyone enjoyed their food and dining experience here. Conversations were easily understood and heard. When asked what their favorite dish was, all of us said we liked everything, but when pressed to give one special dish, several folks mentioned the roasted pork, the clay pot, and the salt and pepper shrimp. Service here was excellent. The manager was very accommodating to our large group of diners, coming back and making sure we are doing fine as he refilled our water glasses. If you are looking for legit Chinese barbecue pork and duck, you don't need to look further: it's here at Happy Cafe BBQ. Enjoy!

We opted for a 3 item bbq plate - roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork (char siu). The bbq pork was fine, nothing special but the highlight was the roast duck and pork. The skin on the duck is still crispy, and had a good ratio of fat to meat and bones. Some places make it with a strong star anise flavor, but HKB does not. The flavor on the duck is sooo good and not too salty. The roast pork was juicy and the skin super crunchy! They gave a solid portion too. I'd spend my $20 on this any day! The 2 item and 3 item bbq options are on a separate lunch menu, but I'm not sure if it's offered daily or just weekdays. The rice plates come with some steamed chinese broccoli and a big scoop of rice. They also provide the bbq with a little dipping sauce. It pairs well with the greens, but is a tad bit salty so use sparingly. We also ordered beef chow fun, dry style. The beef slices are tender, the chow fun has that good wok hei flavor, nice and smoky. I do wish the noodles were a tad bit wider but overall, very solid dish. Sesame balls look/taste like the pre made frozen kind. It had a good chew, solid red bean filling and you get a ton for $5. The service here is nice and friendly. They give you giant cups of water and will check on you to refill it as well. It's in a plaza, lots of shared parking spaces and they do take CC for payment. I am devastated that my now favorite HK BBQ is not in California, but if anyone asks me where to eat in Denver, this spot is going to be my #1 recommendation.

Best to be eaten right away otherwise it gets soggy. The peiking duck was a little fatty but can't complain given the crispy skin and just being able to experience this in Denver, where it's rare to get real Chinese food. The Bao is super fluffy as well.

The standout for me was the taro fries. I absolutely loved them. They were crispy, flavorful, and something I'd order again. They were also surprisingly good as leftovers the next day, which isn't something you can say about most fries.
