War won ton soup, mixed vegetables, chicken lo mein, sesame chicken, teriyaki skewers, egg rolls and crab cheese won tons are some of our favorites and they offer delivery after 4pm which is always super fast. I called in and placed a to go order and let them know I'd be there in a half hour. I got there right on time but the order wasn't ready. The young man that rang up the order was very nice and polite and went to the kitchen. It only took another 10 minutes and he came out with my order - which had obviously just been made and was still steaming hot when I got home. That made me very happy! I was a little worried because there were no customers but some did come in when I was on my way out. The portions were very generous and the prices are good - I like being able to make a lunch into a combo with soup, 2 crab cheese wonton, and a small egg roll for only $4. The food was all good and the two young men working there were very pleasant. The restaurant seems older and could probably use some clean up behind the counter area but I wouldn't be opposed to eating there again. read more

Seems they only had one person for greeting guests, playing host, taking online orders, taking in house orders, bussing tables, and serving. Ordered takeout for dinner and decided to try several different dishes. The General Tso Chicken had great flavor and plenty of chicken. The Kung Pao Shrimp wasn't too spicy and tender. Although the Beef and Broccoli was cooked well and flavorful, it was more broccoli than beef. Sweet and Sour Pork was more breading than pork. Definitely order off of their House Speciality menu as those items were better quality. Food was ready and on time and service was friendly and portions were good. read more

We have been customers since 2022. So we have seen the best and worst of this place. I think hard times have caught up to them as the quality of food isn't the same and they are cutting corners to probably make ends meet. The sweet and sour sauce is basically a gelatin like substance with all red dye 40 it looks crazy. The 6 dumplings come with sauce but they give you maybe a tbsp of sauce or everything and it's watered down. The food has always been hit or miss it depends on the day and who is working. When it's good it's really good but when it's bad it's inedible. This evening was the last straw. I normally get the sweet and sour soup and this time it smelt just like wet dog and tasted just the same. We thought ok no worries maybe a bad batch moved on the our lo mein and it was the same thing a pungent awful smell and tasting just as toxic. The people are kind and I hope this review helps turn things around as we have had more bad food than good this last year. read more

I've been using this place for almost 2 decades, it used to be great food now it's pretty much just trash, meat was over-velveted and just mushy garbage, the egg drop soup was just trash and barely resembled egg drop soup, the crab cheese wontons were way over fried, the sweet and sour sauce was an red lump of gel. I am so disappointed, it was great for decades and now isn't worthy to even be thought of prison food. I've tried to find some merit to it, but it's just not worthy of any further effort on my part. I'm sure there's going to someone that likes mushy garbage of the lowest quality, but that's just not me. Formosa Garden was our go-to restaurant for takeout during the pandemic. We hadn't ordered from them for a couple of years until tonight and won't be doing so again. The best I can say about the food is that it was edible but nowhere near as good as before. We ordered 4 extra pancakes for the moo shu and were surprised when they charged $4 -- $1 per pancake seems excessive, even more so when they only gave us 3 extra. The fried rice was dry and bland with no apparent ingredients except rice. The moo shu filling was bland. My husband said the egg foo young was okay but not great. It's sad because this restaurant is very convenient for us but that doesn't make up for the mediocre food. read more

We chose Formosa Garden for lunch as the other Chinese restaurants nearby that had better reviews didn't offer dine in options. I took my nieces and nephews out for lunch and we wanted to dine inside. We arrived around 2:45pm, just right before the lunch price cutoff time of 3pm. Ambience was ok and looked like a typically Chinese restaurant from the 80's. They could use an upgrade in flooring and decor. Formosa Gardens has ample seating. The place was almost empty when arrived. Service was good and the food came out fairly quickly. Our server kept our water glasses full and brought hot tea refills when we asked. Now for the food.... We ordered the crab Rangoons and pork dumplings, those were pretty good, made with enough filling and tasted fresh. Temperature-wise, It wasn't that hot. Like it had been sitting in the back for a while. Our server mixed up our order a bit and brought out steamed rice when we asked for fried rice. Formosa's fried rice was actually pretty good compared to other Chinese restaurants. It had good texture and taste. I ordered the kung pao chicken, which happens to not be on the lunch menu?!?!?? and was charged $1 more than the other $9.95 lunch items. The brown sauce that came with the kung pao had a weird bitter aftertaste, it wasn't savory that leaves you wanting more. Same for the lo mein... it was lacking flavor and savory... very bland. The sauce for the orange chicken was better, but it was mostly breading and not much chicken. Pricing was decent. We paid $79 for 5 lunches and 2 appetizers for 5 people, and that included a tip. Overall it was an ok dining experience at Formosa Garden. I don't live in Aurora, but I probably wouldn't go back. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures, the food wasn't that memorable. read more

Had reservation for 6 at 6:30 tonight for xmas eve. Seated right away but then took 1 hr to get someone to take our order. All the folks at other tables were waiting a long time too. What the restaurant was doing was pushing out online orders both pickup and delivery and the heck with seated customers. There were so many to go and delivery folks that they were lined up out the door holding it open so that all the heat left the building. The staff (all 3 or 4 of them) were fighting and yelling at each other. The owners nephew got mad at me ( finally got out of his seat and in my face) for complaining and told me to go talk to his uncle (the little old man) in the kitchen. This is a totally different place than it used to be. Oh and the food stinks so no great loss of our business to them ever again. read more

My wife had the Kung Pao Chicken and I had the Beef with Broccoli, along with fried egg rolls and fried pot stickers. We were both craving vegetables and these entrees delivered! My wife loved her chicken dish as there was plenty of chicken and vegetables. The broccoli in my entree was perfectly cooked, meaning not too al dente or mushy. The sauce was not too sweet or salty, which I truly appreciated. The fried pot stickers were simply amazing and tasty. The weak link was the egg rolls. I'm not a huge fan of salt, but these egg rolls definitely needed some. Plus, the egg rolls were wrapped too many times, thereby making the ratio overly wrapped versus the amount of filling. My husband and I ordered the sesame chicken and beef general tso with "fried rice". The chicken and beef are extremely over cooked to the point it's difficult to chew. I actually had to spit it out. Love Formosa Garden!! Great customer service from the owner and his wife. You get an incredible experience and more food if you eat at the restaurant, but we order Togo once every one to two weeks. Hot and sour soup is amazing, love the sesame chicken, love the shrimp dishes, and the Szechwan tofu. I think we've found a new favourite! Although we'll try a few more dishes before I make that call official. We ordered delivery tonight, after ordering online. Super easy. There's a great option to add a soup, crispy spring roll and 2 crab and cheese wontons to any entree for about $3. My husband and I both chose that option, and ordered steamed pot stickers for our son....soo much food! We have plenty for lunch tomorrow. Everything was tasty. The crispy duck was exactly that, very crispy. The chicken pad Thai was delicious, crispy spring rolls were good, crab and cheese wontons were thick and full. Love this place! The restaurant sits in an unassuming strip mall right off of Smoky Hill. If you're not looking for it, you'll definitely miss it. Good news though. If you see Dunkin Donuts, its right behind it off of Pheasant Run. There, I made it easy for you to find it. Service is wonderful and food is awesome. I ordered drunken noodles with beef as well as a hot and sour soup. My buddy David ordered Mu Shu chicken, another great dish. Everything came out hot. Everything came out flavorful. It had been a while since I was at Formosa Garden. I ordered takeout. Unlike other Chinese places in the area the lunch special does NOT include soup so I ordered it separately. We got hot and sour soup, it was a gloopy broth with a little bit of tofu and an occasional piece of ground pork, some of the worst hot and sour soup I have had. We also got orange chicken and sesame chicken. They were exactly the same except the sesame chicken was sprinkled with a few seeds. No orange flavor at all. The "egg rolls" were cheap frozen vegetable spring rolls, greasy too. It was 12:30 and not a single customer in the place, now I know why. It was a big disappointment and we won't be back! They also add a 20% tip to take out orders with NO delivery. read more

This place is so good! I have been searching for a new go-to place for Chinese food and I have found it. The prices are very reasonable, the service is friendly and the food is very tasty. My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday evening and the place was mostly empty. Just a few tables were full so we were seated promptly. Service was excellent and our server gave us some ideas from the menu when we told her what kinds of dishes we like. We ordered the crab cheese wontons appetizer (8 for $5.95...excellent deal), the hong kong noodles with beef and lo mein with beef. We added on the combo to our meal which for an extra $2.95 you get a cup of soup, two egg rolls, two crab cheese wontons and a choice of steamed or fried rice.
