I moved to FL 18 months ago and I was having a craving for Hooters Wings so February 13th of 2021 I went to the original on Gulf to Bay in Clearwater. I went to the bar and was greeted promptly by Ciera. She took care of me all night and she reminded me of a friend so we took a picture together and I have become a regular since frequenting pretty much weekly. She always has a smile on her face and makes everyone feel important even when some people are being rude and obnoxious! Just her presence brightens my mood bc of her spirit! She often bartends with Kaley who is so fun to be around as well. They both always make sure everyone is given the best service possible! The managers Pete, Mark and Bree are awesome too. Friendly and welcoming and also work extremely hard! Plus they don't put up with rude behavior. The food is always good and if it's not they will fix it for you no problem! I highly recommend visiting this Hooters despite the reviews the miserable people write. These are the people who have to find something wrong wherever they go!!! Wife and I stopped in for a Saturday lunch to watch college football (honest, to watch football). Wings sounded good. We got 20 along with fries. Did we want ranch or blue cheese dressing? Sure. Assumed it came with carrots and celery. The result? Wings were disappointingly small. Fries were cold. No carrot or celery. And the blue cheese dressing? 99 cents extra and nothing to dip in it. Service was good though. Not enough to make me go back though. And please don't send me the same canned response you did to the reviewers before me. Was in Florida for 2 months training for a job and Hooters was a frequent stop for my friend and me. Unlike a lot of folks I actually dig the food, especially the wings. I've gone to Hooters in SF, San Diego, and Dublin, the girls at the Clearwater location were better looking and nicer than the other locations. I've gone to the Hotel in Vegas too but that doesn't count cause well...it's Vegas and everything "looks" better in Vegas right? The Grouper sandwich at this place was pretty tasty. Let me start of this review by saying that next to desserts, chicken wings are my favorite food. So I was sadly disappointed when I went to the original Hooters and found the chicken wings to be dry, small and tasteless. Worse still, we waited nearly an hour to get our food. We ordered chicken wings for heaven's sake! How long does it take to fry pre-made wings and throw some sauce on them? Our server was completely uninterested in us because we were a family of 4 and spent most of her time flirting with her other table. It also seems that the Original Hooters may still employ some of their original staff. The girls were much older, not nice at all, and provided horrible service. I almost feel like bad service is forgivable if the girls are young and inexperienced but cute. Sadly, this was not the case. There is nothing special about the Original Hooters. Buy some chicken wings from the Publix deli and go eat them on Clearwater beach. You will have a better view and you will be more satisfied with the quality. read more

What an embarrassment for the original Hooters. We are locals and have been here in the past and just never were satisfied. Recently with the remodel we wanted to check it out again. Mistake mistake mistake. Service is still horrible, most girls were snooty (our waitress wasn't good, but she was at least pleasant), FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. We ordered: -Wings 10pieces (this was okay....) -Fried Pickles (served room temperature) -Loaded Curly fries (disgusting) -Buffalo Chicken Wrap (came out with no sauces?) Requested some and was 10 minutes before any was served -Basket of Fries, server asked if we wanted them with the wrap, and then charged us $2.75, no explanation. -Boneless Chicken Wings (came out chilled??) It was extremely slow to receive our food after the appetizers, wings and pickles. We did mention to the server that the boneless chicken wings were cold, she said I will get you some new ones, that never came. She then stated that we said no? While we were waiting for a table I was looking at their shirts and was going to buy something but after this experience there is no way I want to own anything Hooters. This restaurant needs new management right away, I'm shocked they are still opened after 30 years. I guess they have survived on all of the out-of-towers going in to visit the original restaurant. The original, huh? If I were the CEO, I would be ashamed of these girls. Yeah, they're hot. (Well a few of them are, anyway.). But hotness doesn't excuse their lack of customer service and overall serving abilities. Let's just say that we expected more from the original. When we arrived around 6pm on a summer Monday night, the place was pretty bare. We were taken care of pretty quickly when it came to drinks and ordering our food - or so we thought. Between the time that we ordered and our food actually came, business began to pick up. We noticed that we were missing our appetizer, so we flagged down our server (Abril) when we got the chance. This wasn't easy because she was pretty absent for the most part. By this time, we had already finished our entree. Next thing we knew, our server was bringing us plain curly fries, when we had ordered the Mexican version. She finally got it fixed a few minutes later. The food was typical Hooters food. It wasn't my thing, personally - my palate is a bit more refined. But if you are a 20-year-old pitching a tent in the middle of a restaurant and love greasy food, you should feel right at home. Our fries were boring. The fish tacos were just ok. My hubby's blackened grouper sandwich was a piece of fish between a hamburger bun and little blackened flavor. In general, we found the food pretty flavorless. After not seeing our server much during dinner, we also had to wave her down for our check. Then we proceeded to find another server in order to cash us out. Our girl had pulled the disappearing act AGAIN. This place should be called "Hoot-dini's" instead. I am not a Hooters guy by any stretch of the imagination. The casino in Vegas was pretty deplorable, and I only suffered through that to see a concert. However, when I saw a sign indicating that this was the ORIGINAL location of Hooters, I felt compelled as a man to see what all of the fuss was about. After all, it was this very location that spawned a nationwide chain of restaurants, an airline, and plenty of controversy along the way. There must be something magical about this place. Or not. I liked the layout of this bar and restaurant. Being Florida, they have additional outdoor seating year-round which gives the place an informal, breeziness. The ambiance is laid back and is definitely a chill place to grab a beer or see a sports game. The eye candy was really incidental to the place for me. I popped in for lunch and put in a to-go order. I was able to get a 6-piece wing lunch with fries for either $6 or $7, I can't recall. Either way, it was especially cheap. Waiting at the bar, my order was filled in not even 5 minutes. The service was gracious, and the food was generally bad. The wings are breaded and really oily, and the fries are curly and bland. It cries out for a beer, but this was lunch. Oh well. I should say though that these wings are better than the ones I had at the Hooters in Fredericksburg, VA during trivia nights years ago, but I am quibbling about gradations of badness. This is nothing you would likely want to eat on a regular basis. The location was nice enough though for me to visit on a drinks-only basis. Recommend for that. 3 stars because they are the original restaurant, and that is about as high as I could rate any Hooters really. read more

I recently moved to Clearwater from the UK. I was curious about visiting Hooters after seeing it in a couple of movies. The concept of a sports bar is alien enough to a British person, but a sports bar with attractive women in tight clothing...it's very American. I was interested to experience it. Hooters was pretty much as I expected. It has the large, bright colours that you'd associate with most large American chains. I imagine every Hooters in the country looks the same. There's not much character to the restaurant, but I think most people know what they're getting when they go there. They do put the sports pages up on the bathroom wall which I thought was a good idea. The women are what give the place some personality. The servers were nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Our waitress was featured in the Hooters Calendar which seems a bit strange to me. What other restaurant would sell a calendar featuring their staff in bikinis. Maybe I'm just not the Hooters audience! The wings were delicious and probably the best I've had. Covered in sauce with a crispy coating. I'd go back to Hooters just for those wings. TL;dr. The "Original" Hooters doesn't give a flying FUCK about sports and sports fans. Don't bother with this shithole. If I could give this place a ZERO, I would. My first time here was before Yelp (2009), and nothing has changed. We had shit service back then. The waitress laid my bill down in wing oil instead of my open hand, so she got a 2 cent tip. She also ignored our table the entire time and fawned over a table of white men nearby instead. I guess she didn't care for me (white butch lesbian) and my co-workers (both black). Not even shitting about this or pulling the gay or race card as people may think. She fucking ignored us for no other reason I can imagine. Little did she know we're loaded, BTW. $$$$$! Tonight, I stopped by to watch game 7 of the World Series at about 11:15. It was the middle of the 9th inning, and they had locked the doors so I sat at the outside bar which was still occupied thinking I could get a beer and watch the end of the game. A manager checked in on the lady sitting next to me and asked if she wanted a soda. She declined and he walked away without even acknowledging me as I sat with my ID and credit card on the bar. It was obvious I was thirsty and had just sat down. A few minutes later, I asked the lady if they were closed and she said they had at 11pm. I walked across the parking lot to Pete & Shorty's to watch the game instead. The game ended past 1am, and as I got into my car, Hooters was a fucking ghost town. They missed out on a few hundred dollars in sales because they closed early. read more

If this is your first, second or even third HOOTERS experience STAY AWAY! Service......sucks rooster balls! We Sat at the same table for 10 mins and no one came up to us, thought it was because we were brown? Could not even get the hostess to help. Moved tables and still no help. Dang! It's a Hooters...but its THE ORIGINAL Hooters, so that makes it feel special :-) Had the HOT buffalo chicken sandwich -- nothing to write home about, but the crunch on the chicken breast is nice. The sauce was not hot at all in my opinion so ask for a side of extra sauce if you want an extra kick. Would definitely return to watch a game with a beer and some wings. read more

Being the original hooters has to mean something, right ? Located on gulf to bay, this location is convenient to north county residents. We met my brother and his family here one night for dinner. I must admit, the grilled mahi sandwich was REALLY good. Probably one of the best I've had in a while. Of course I couldn't resist the curly fries (who can) so I got an order of those too. There is definitely enough fries to share. My brother and husband devoured the wings. I've never been a wings fan, but they seemed to really like them. If you can get past the god awful tights and too short shorts, hooters isn't a bad option. read more

Stopped here a week ago. Been to the previous facility 5-10 years ago. I liked what they did with this place.Much more open and spacious. A lot more natural light available. Large gift shop with a Wall of Fame (historical articles, ads, calendars, etc. as well as memorabilia). Place was pretty packed. This was about 2 pm so I was a little surprised. I opted to sit at the outdoor portion of the bar. Didn't realize until later that this was a smoking section. Bartenders were a little busy so took a bit to take my order. They were very friendly and pleasant. I'd had a large breakfast so opted for 1/2 dozen hot wings. Quite good. As opposed to most sports bars I go to in PA their wings actually have the wing portion still attached, not a lot of meat on that portion. Pleasant breeze on the patio. I have a 20 year love affair with Hooters, but it seems the flame has gone out. I stated eating at hooters in Panama City Florida in 1997, not the beach location, the other one that I think closed. I would be there 2 - 3 times a week while I was at Tyndall AFB for training. I have been to locations both in the US and in Europe. Then there is all the other wing places I have eaten over the years, I have consumed way too many wings. Anyway, about my trip here! Something has happened to Hooters over the years and especially the Hooters I have had in the greater Tampa / Clearwater areas. The menu they have and the menu I have come to know and appreciate are not the same. For some reason they don't appear to have Cajun on their menu down here. Cajun is a fantastic flavor and yet they don't seem to have it here either in Florida or Tampa / Clearwater. The problem is this, Cajun is not a dry rub, so they use butter or oil together with the spice and it is very good. Hooters doesn't seem to do dry rubs well, maybe if they prepared the dry rubs as wet like the cajun wings, they might be better, but overall, the dry rubs suck. Also, I have no idea what is occurring, but the wings breading is really thin, almost non-existent. This is another problem I have noticed in the Tampa area. Last, I seem to get quite a few broken boned wings, like they have a lower cheaper grade of wings to save money. I don't like chewing on bone. Really, I don't. I was going to give this place two stars, but the more I remember about my time at this location, the more I remember how lousy the food has gotten at Hooters. I'm not normally someone who writes a ton of reviews unless, it was absolutely terrible service or exceptional service! Today my boyfriend and I stopped in here for a quick lunch before heading to the beach for his birthday. We sat at the bar and had Mariya as a server. She was great! We never had empty glasses and she was perfect with time frames and checking in on us throughout the entire meal! She also went above and beyond to accommodate my boyfriends birthday! Being a restaurant manager myself, I was thoroughly impressed and thank her for the great experience! Holy cow! No one's reviewed the ORIGINAL Hooters location? i have been graced with being the first?? Wow. So where to begin? THis place has so much history and local gossip that I'm not sure is appropriate to share...... In any case, its a 2 story looking beach shanty on your right off 60 as you head towards CLW beach. The food is like any other Hooters - oily breaded wings which I'm not a huge fan of. Their clam chowder is ok. Their curly fries are pretty good. Service is friendly and pretty laid back adding to that super beachy floridian appeal. Typical local joke is that the girls working are the original hooters girls too (its not). Definitely worth a stop just to say youv'e been there - but i've never been huge fan of their food so I can't really give them high marks. read more

We have been going to this original location for 28 years. Tonight 2/27 was the absolute worst experience ever. We ate on the porch. First beer was not cold literally had to remind the waitress three time over 15 mins that I still did not have my beer yep saw the beer sitting inside for pick up the whole time.. Our appetizer was given away to the table behind us. Never got my fries. Wings ordered drumstick only did not happen. Asked for a second beer. Good god to 15 mins and two reminders to get that one. Hooters is my absolute favorite place to go for chicken wings. I am really addicted to their style of wings - breaded with a very delicious sauce. Every time we've gone to this location, the service is excellent and the food arrives very quick and fresh. I like that we can order a platter of wings and another of fries and everyone just helps themselves. It's a very nice laid back, casual, restaurant. I love that they have added outdoor seating, especially with the gorgeous weather we've been having this spring. We can take the kids and go enjoy some chicken wings and the fresh air, and the noise outside is always very low. I am a little surprised that they have a kid's menu, but they do, and the food from it is pretty good. I do agree with Duane D's recommendation to go up one level when you order the wings. "Mild" aren't spicy what so ever, and the "Medium" wings are pretty much what mild would be anywhere else. We'd definitely get the "Hot" in the future. read more

The wings were soggy, the french fries were mostly brokenbroken in pieces, and although we were seated inside they had the door wide open so we did not get to take advantage of the air conditioning. The tables ares still dingy and greasy, the wings are still steroid induced and veiny. I generally stick to the grilled cheese and the curly fries when I come here and that was good, as usual. As a chic saying this, the girls are little prettier than Connecticut, but I guess that's to be expected considering where I am. Store Numero Uno! #1. As mentioned this "historic property" had seen it's better days until the renovation. I've come here to get away from the hectic life of retirement, ;-P do brews with buffalo boneless wings, and watch sports on the tube! I've also done two run races which American Running Company has done with Hooters. Those events rocked and I will continue to do it yearly! Hooters is Hooters! It's as simple as that. I have to confess that it had been awhile since I visited the Original Hooters. It had been before they remodeled and what a major enhancement in both the ambiance and personality. They remodeled so completely I found myself getting lost. Even the bathrooms had been moved which is not something easily done. The whole place had a more awake and clean personality. The layout seemed to flow as though it worked as unit (the old setup had rooms that seemed like an afterthought). Also, the personality of the wait staff presented and carried themselves as though they were part of a team to actually serve customers. To be honest I had actually stopped even thinking about Hooters as an option a couple of years back because (especially this location) the waitresses seemed to have an attitude that they were there to get discovered not be a part of restaurant team. One time I was even left at a table, no drink, no menu, no mention of when I would be waited on (this was well before Yelp). Thank Hooters Management for making all these improvements because my experience today was way better and extremely superior to what I had experienced before. I definitely will be back. Today, I was interested in only a basic burger (no cheese) which I was very satisfied with. It was very much to my liking. The garnishments (lettuce, tomato, and pickle) were all very fresh and added to the burger balancing a cool crispness with the warm flavor of a medium well burger. I had a side of tater tots which I find is a major plus. Love those tots! Plus I believe they are relatively new and I think they are a wonderful compliment to the menu. Sorry if this is behind the times. My waitress was very attentive and visited the table, offering drink refills, on frequent occasions. She did not seem to be put out by my texting and delaying my order. Which I appreciated. She offered the opportunity for me to participate in a charity drive without over selling it. So I did. She had a very good eye for measuring the needs of the table and where to take it next. I enjoyed the unique floor plates that were scattered throughout that had quotes and pithy sayings from various Hooter's Girls. I found this to be an added entertainment. Speaking of entertainment the remodel brought more televisions that allows for more games and opportunities to watch while dining. I did ask for a couple of items that I half way expected; although not a deal breaker for me because my visit was awesome, I asked for sliders and jalapeno poppers. Maybe something to consider. All in all a very nice place, it would great for groups and families alike. read more

Can't beat eating at the original Hooter's!! I'm originally from Florida but moved away for a couple years to Virginia. Let me tell you no other Hooter's can beat Florida locations especially the original spot. The wings were great, the service was fast and pleasant. The restaurant is very clean and updated, there's booths, high top tables, bar area with TVs, outside seating and decent size gift shop.
