Two Prawn Tacos and Back Country Beer.

We found this place a few months ago. We have to come to Burnaby every so often (from the Valley) and it's usually during the week around lunch time. First time there we had a meat pizza, it was delicious. Then we were there on a Tuesday, lol found out its $3.50 Taco Tuesdays, we had to try it. Husband had the Prawn ones, he raved about them. I had beef ones which was also very tasty. That was our first time trying the tacos here, well it was so good we try to now go into Burnaby on Tuesdays so we can stop in for Tacos and a beer . Next time we were there the waitress remembered us, asked if we were having Tacos again. Husband had the Prawn ones, I had a Prawn and Beef one. I agree the Prawn is awesome, the beef one I had that time seemed like it was a hamburger patty broken up and seemed overcooked. This didn't deter us, as last Tuesday we went in again. Waitress ( I think her name is Tia got name from bill) recognized us again and said "Tacos and Beer?" Yup all Prawn tacos please; and they were delicious. Enjoyed the Back Country beer too. Seems it gets a good lunch clientele, and Tia is busy attending to them all and her service was cheerful to all from what we saw. We like the venue, parking daytime doesn't seem to be an issue. We will eventually try other menu items but can't make them for $3.50 each and not have to buy, cook and clean afterwards for a few tacos, plus it's a nice change for us to enjoy with a beer.

One of the dying breed of neighbourhood pubs! We regularly come by here after playing volleyball at the nearby Harry Jerome centre. Staff are friendly and they cater to regulars. It's a great place to hang out and not be pressured for anything. They have darts and some games. They have raffles, trivia, and other contests during sports events. The food is solid pub fare. It's fresh and portions are generous. There's a good selection of craft beer on tap, and a full bar for cocktails. Overall, fun and casual place to watch sports or hang out after playing sports.

Stopped in for an early evening drink. I ordered a Caesar (every place seems to have Caesars on special for Sunday), but it didn't taste very good to me. Maybe it had too much Worcestershire, I don't know. Also, the waitress checked up on us from over a short wall type thing, and I was a bit startled... couldn't she have walked around it? Maybe I am being unreasonable. Overall, nothing much to draw me back here.

Came here on a Sunday ( Crab legs special as my bf calls it). We came in on a super busy day and service was relatively good considering they were packed. I had gotten one of the salads which had a few modifications on it and the waitress and kitchen staff made a great effort to sub the mods for me ( 2 thumbs up). We had all shared a " half portion of nachos" which was $15 and omigosh they were huge!!!!!. ( cheese layering would of been awesome but overall very impressed). My bf had specifcally came for crab legs and he was disapointed. $2.50 for one snow crab leg which barely had any meat. It used to be $4.00 for a cluster of crab legs and also Alaskan crab legs. ( quality has gone down). Not sure if I would come back as the Crab legs were the selling point and that has clearly changed :( There is a pool table in the back which is nice!

What made this place stand out to me the most was the bartender whipped up the most absolute AMAZING espresso martini I've ever had. Just happened to have a conversation about how much I love a good espresso martini. I've had many but this place wins 1st place! There was also live music later in the evening and the environment was very casual and up beat. I will definitely be returning for another espresso martini in the near future! Tons of wine options to choose from.

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Everything about it makes for a truly nice experience, and we'll definitely be back.
