It's very 70's in its decor but still has a good ambience. But.... it's very expensive for what you get, I mean $25 for what is essentially a beef dip sandwich ($30 with a healthy tip) is a bit steep, especially when the fries you get are not even as good as McDonalds. All of this with starter and a cup of tea cost us $80 for two. You would think that a restaurant of this stature would have an eagle eye on something as important as French Fries but no, they were awful. Phone up the GM at Red Robin and ask what their secret is. As it is they're thrown on the plate like they've been washed up on the beach, not impressed with the presentation at all... although the prime rib sandwich was generous and tasty. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was very imaginative dish. I would say overall it was just run-of- the mill, which is not what you'd expect from a name brand restaurant. The staff were lovely and our waitress was as sweet as can be ... that saved the day really. This is one of my favourite Kegs in town. Every visit at this location, their staff are incredible. They are fast with your orders, your wine glass is never empty and they are super helpful. Congratulations to this location of The KEG!!! I think it's my first 5-Star location. I don't do a lot of chain restaurant reviews but The Keg has always been an outlier for me. They in major city centres but still have a unique feel at each location. It was just into the New Year and we had a $50 gift card burning a hole in our pockets since last year! Yeah... gift card purgatory - you get them but forget to spend it. We were on a mission to use it - LOL. Decided not to go into the YVR downtown and since we needed to be out on the east end, we decided to go to this one - heck... aren't they all the same? Well we know that it isn't - people and service is key. Welcome to the BEST KEG experience I've had in a long time. I had an equiv experience about 15years ago at another location - yeah... 15 years. We got in, they sat us at the livelier part of the place (the bar) which is great! Didn't quite like the seat... asked for the high top around the corner - No Probs! Yah...!!! Right from the start, bright and cheery service, server was awesome - asked if we were celebrating something. YES... we're celebrating the eviction of a gift card from our wallet - and a past birthday. Order taken... Let's feast! Prime Rib Classic, rack of ribs, and a couple glasses of wine. And happy happy birthday - we got a Billy Miner Pie!!! OMG!!! If you never had one - it must be on your bucket list! LOL. The Keg Burnaby is an indulgent experience, the meat is cooked perfectly at the rarity you request (I find this location doesnt over or under do it which is good!) I personally enjoy their prime rib which is tender and decadent and my favourite side is the wild rice. Amazing night at the Keg trying a bit of everything. First of all, the bread is amazing. I don't know how they get it so crispy and fluffy but it's to die for. Calamari was fresh and tasty (didn't seem to be from frozen), escargot was an interesting flavourful appetizer and the crab cakes were on the small side for the price but also fresh. The keg burger was pretty standard, the prime rib was cooked to medium rare perfection, chicken dish was surprisingly delicious and the pork chop special was a delight. As usual the food is amazing. As soon as I knew we were coming I started craving the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing! Service tonight was exceptional. Our waitress noticed my son got some dressing on his hoodie. She brought him a small container of baking soda to help prevent staining. Needless to say I tipped her well! Tonight was a little loud. Great service, our server was attentive and friendly. Spent 4 hours there on a casual business dinner and would come back as it's a great spot to chat, eat and drink. We arrived at 3pm right when they first open the door on a Saturday with a group of 7. We didn't need to wait long and they were super accommodating with one elderly with walker in our party :) and they sat us at a comfortable long table. I ordered their Teriyaki Sirloin for the first time and asked for medium rare - overall taste was great but more on the dryer side. Portion was great for one person! I love Keg! The servers at this locations is fabulous. I've come in dressed nicer and also in dri-fit, and with no judgement. This location lighting is darker than most, more family style and a bit dated compared to other locations. Parking can be an issue esp during prime meal times. My family rarely goes for steak as it's not a thing for us collectively. For myself it's definitely thing I love to indulge in. Stuff happened though and we ended up here for my folk's anniversary. As always, I left wanting to return immediately. The appetizer bread they provide is always a highlight for me. It's always hot and definitely feels like it's very fresh. Their regular butter as well as the special butters they have make it a delicious way to start things off. For my main, I went with the prime rib and a side of mashed potato. The prime rib was just fantastic and was one of the easiest steaks I've ever been able to cut through. I love as well the nice piece of fat left over. I was ready for another serving right afterwards. We had great service overall that night. Our server was great with bringing us bread and butter often. My folks were really happy as well to get some champagne for the occasion. Overall, the Keg still hasn't let me down for what they seek to deliver. I'm always so torn about The Keg. I love their prime rib and I find myself intensely craving it every now and then. But I also feel most of their other foods are average for the price. That's said, we went recently for Dine Out Vancouver. For $55 I could get my prime rib (my boyfriend opted for a NY strip loin), with shrimp cocktail (plating left a bit to be desired but I guess they had to plate quickly for Dine Out), and a dessert. The mocha ice cream pie was so so good. If you like the Dairy Queen ice cream cake's crunch center, you'll like the bottom of their billy miner pie. It definitely went well The server left us alone most of the night (perfect ) They got our order right (same order for Mum and dad) I wasn't willing to do the prime rib thing again. Don't get me wrong. I like medium rare but I do prefer mine cooked along the edges. And with prime rib the whole slice comes to you looking just rare. And they come a little less cooked than I would like. I ended up getting the bone in steak. And I loved it. Think I'll be doing that from now on. Mum kept eyeballing the mushrooms that came with my steak. Her prime rib came with I think it was peppers and zucchini. I got that too. And the mushrooms. And I got a potato too. Definitely didn't finish the 20oz streak with the potato and the veggies. Mum and dad ordered medium (which this time came cooked bit more than she liked, she likes medium rare but for some reason the keg was serving it more on the rare side, the last few times we visited so to be safe she ordered it medium) She's apparently changed her tune. First off this review is for the take out New York Steak Dinner for Two. The take out package was picked up at the Still Creek Keg location, hence the review for this Keg. The dinner package comes neatly packed in a cardboard box and everything is individually packaged for a complete dinner for you. And they did a great job with the instruction on preparing and cooking the food including how to plate everything. The dinner included: 2 NY steaks (with keg spices), keg bread, asparagus, red pepper, baked potatoes, cheesecake & Caesar salad. Baked the potatoes in the oven where the bread is also warmed. I did the asparagus and red pepper on the grill with the steaks. I do a fair of bbqing and had a vegetable bbq device which made bbqing the veggies so easy. The meal came out perfect, was very tasty and I felt much more comfortable cooking and eating at home during COVID. It was a very positive food experience and happy to recommend the NY Steak Dinner for Two from the Keg. read more

Spur of a moment decision to dine here and I was so glad I managed to make a reservation on OpenTable. The place was packed on a weeknight! We were surprised to see the huge parking lot about 85% full and a few groups of diners waiting outside to be seated. After checking in with the hostess, it was a brief wait before we were shown to our table. Somehow it has been a few years since I last dined at The Keg. I always love the prime rib and cocktails. I had the prime rib classic which came with salad and mushrooms. The iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing was wonderfully crisp and fresh. I could taste the sweetness of the lettuce. The prime rib was perfection. Tender and flavorful on its own. The twice baked potato was equally yummy. The roast veggie was a bit burnt though. As usual, I could not finish everything. The eyes are always bigger than the stomach. I also tried the mushroom Neptune which was nice but a bit too rich for my liking. Too much cream cheese which overpowered the crabmeat and mushroom. I hadn't been to a Keg for eons but glad we decided to go and the ambiance the moment you walk in the two huge wooden doors all came rushing back to me! The restaurant was hopping both in the bar and the restaurant itself. After we got seated our server was quick to get to the table. He was very cordial and had a great sense of humor telling us about the Keg's history and welcoming us back after our long hiatus. The menu hasn't changed much to our delight. They brought out the signature piping hot bread and butter and drinks. We started off with the garlic buttered escargots and be sure soak up the leftover sauce with your bread! Our order consisted of the peppercorn steak, filet mignon and prime rib one with veggies on the side and the other with mashed potatoes. I have been coming to this Keg a few times a year ever since I was a kid, and it use to be a solid reliable decent meal with tremendous service. It's always super busy and there's usually a line, but it was worth the wait. However, the last few times I've visited I've found that the standards have unfortunately dropped drastically. The food consistency is subpar, the steaks are of varying quality and size when served at the same table - some would be full of gristle while others are perfect. It's very hard to accept that when you can compare the supposed same dish at your table. The appetizers we ordered last time as well were disappointing... our usuals are the escargot, calamari and bacon wrapped scallops. The escargot did not have enough of that delicious herb sauce for dipping, the calamari was slightly under fried and not seasoned so even the sauce could not save it. I also miss the good old days of the sourdough bread served in the bread basket wrapped in a cloth napkin, cause the bread they're serving now is meh and the crust is super grainy and unpleasant to eat. The prices keep increasing, but the food quality and consistency has decreased. I've been a life long customer, but if things don't start turning around I don't think I'll be able to continue going back :( read more

Pricey but delicious steak place. Parking is available in the lot next to the building. Place gets busy on the weekends. The venue is split into a restaurant and a bar/lounge area. Very modern and trendy. Staff were friendly and professional. The bread here is served as a giant bun thing with whipped butter. A bit filling, which is good as I usually leave hungry from places like these. The steak and lobster is amazing. Steak was done just the way I liked it, but special mention goes to the lobster tails. They hollow out the body of the lobster such that the meat is sitting on top of the shell in a solid piece. Best of all, the plate comes with a small dish of clarified butter. I was pretty much drinking that liquid sunshine. The twice baked potato is totally loaded with calories and tastes like weight gain. My husband and I came here a special night out since we had a gift card and to kind of celebrate our 1/2 year anniversary. When you come to the Keg, you know the entrees are going to be pricier than your average night out, but the food is worth it! Our waitress was great- she was able to answer our questions about the menu, give drink suggestions and checked in with us often. For an appetizer we had the calamari. It was cooked perfectly and served with two delicious dipping sauces which were different from the typical tzatziki sauce. My entree was the 7oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and the shrimp and scallop Oscar as an add on. The steak was cooked perfectly, as it should be when you come to a steak house. The meat was super tender and the mashed potatoes were pretty good but probably could have used more butter in my opinion. I wasn't a very big fan of the bearnaise sauce of the shrimp and scallop oscar. The shrimp and scallops themselves were really tasty, but I personally do not think the sauce is necessary. Next time I think I would order the steak with a peppercorn sauce and the jumbo prawns as my seafood add on. My husband had the New York sirloin steak (12oz) Keg classic with garlic mashed potatoes and the jumbo grilled prawns as his seafood. The keg classic options include a Caesar salad to start which I had a bite of- it had the perfect amount of dressing and was not overly garlicky as can sometimes be the case. The jumbo prawns were to die for- so much flavour! He was also very happy with his steak. We took dessert to go because we were so full but a friend of mine had told me I need to try the Billy Minor Pie. We enjoyed it later in the evening at home and it was super good- it's a mocha ice cream cake- can't go wrong.
