Okay, Hopdoddy! I'm traveling for work and wanted to grab a quick bite and a glass of wine. Granted, school's not in session, so I can't speak to the "normal" crowd, but in the summer on a Tuesday evening, this spot is pleasantly busy but not crowded. I picked a seat at the bar since I'm dining solo and ordered the Thuderbird (a chicken patty) and a glass of cab. The bartender is super nice and attentive, but by no means trying to rush me out. The clientele is a mix of families and couples (both older and younger). They have a TV playing golf at the bar. Nice. I haven't been to a Hoododdy in a while and enjoyed this meal. Let me explain my rating. Hopdoddy does have some good things going, including quite reasonable pricing for the neighborhood. The building is everything a burger bar should be - including footrests for the booths, a great idea! There's a lineup of appealing burgers and some appealing sides. And beer (yes!). However: (1) The Hopdoddy website says "Located in the heart of the Texas A&M campus, Hopdoddy..." - what are they talking about??? It's literally off-campus. (2) We thought "shareable fries" meant a size big enough to share. It should be be thought of more literally: "something you can share". (3) After a meal, if the service has been good, I tip generously. But asking for a tip before there's been any service isn't just out of order, it's a bit of a hostage situation. My refusal to go along with it must have affected the attitude of the girl who brought our food, because she wasn't the least bit friendly. read more

I am normally a big fan of Hopdoddy Burger Bar, but this visit just missed the mark. We were eating lunch here with a large group from the Beef Team and the burgers were served in an assembly line and the one that I selected the patty was overcooked and tough. The burger came with a side salad and fries. You could customize your burger by adding the toppings including tomatoes, lettuce and onions. It was also served with a cup for a drink. I added my favorite truffle aioli sauce and chipotle ketchup that helped mask the flavor of my burnt patty. We came here for biergarten Sunday evening. We are incredibly thankful for member Josue Julian who was very helpful in helping us with rectifying this situation. However, We were disappointed by the customer service of one of the female staff member "Gabby"--since AC Was not working at the time, we decided to go sit outside where there was a nice breeze. We were instructed to order our food to go which we noted to the cashier. The first issue was that our food did not have utensils in the bag. The second issue was that we had ordered our dressings on the side, but the dressings were not included in the to go bag. Third, I had ordered my tenders, naked-- which I asked the cashier if this would be possible and they said yes, implying, no breading --however, the tenders we received had breading which I cannot give to a diabetic family member. Lastly, I had ordered a side of sweet potato fries, but this was also not placed into my to go bag. When I approached the staff member, Gabby, she had told us that we should have asked for utensils when we were placing our to go order. But I had expressed that we were sitting outside to the cashier. I am wondering how she expected us to eat food without utensils L O L. A very good place for Sunday brunches or other low-key events! Food Recommendations: the "Goodnight/Good Cause" was life-changing the first time I had it! 10/10 recommend. Now, I like to turn the burger into a salad which is also good especially if you're gluten-free or health-conscious :). Food to avoid: I really, really didn't like the Parmesan truffle fries but the Hand-cut Chipperbec's were excellent (see Chipperbec fries below)! I guess I didn't like the Parmesan taste. My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch. I was looking for a meatless meal and she, a vegan meal, and this spot came up on Happy Cow. When you first walk in, there are menus and we stood looking at the menu figuring what/how to choose. The menus are there in case there is a long line so you can look at the menu while waiting. We stepped up to the counter and noticed a separate vegan/vegetarian menu, which is totally awesome but please make sure one is these is at the front too! After ordering, the server gave us a table number outside. I like that she asked if we prefer sunny or shady. The table was clear but not clean. Lots of crumbs and such from previous guests. Not worth taking off a star, but an inconvenience. I ordered the impossible magic shroom burger with sweet potato fries. It was freaking awesome. The melty goat cheese, pesto and mushrooms were just awesome on the homemade signature buttery bun. This would have been amazing with beef as well. Even the fries were hot and crispy with the perfect amount of salt. My friend ordered a burger as well but they brought it vegetarian vs vegan so they had to take it back. Funny part is the server sat it down and then said was this supposed to be vegan? The difference was the bun - wheat vs their signature, and we probably would not have realized. Vegans take note that the signature bun is not vegan, you should get the wheat. Overall, I'd totally go back. Ok so in general I'm not a huge burger person, however I can definitely get down with a good veggie burger! This place did not disappoint with this veggie burger!! I have had some mean black bean burgers, but the blend of veggies for this patty was amazing. If you're looking for true vegetarian remember to ask without the goat cheese, but overall great option! Can't speak for the other burgers but this one was tasty! Anyways the staff was very gracious considering we were "those" people who showed up super late for dinner lol, regardless they were super nice to us let us eat in peace and even checked on us before they started cleaning up! I've always loved Hopdoddy, but I was beyond disappointed with the service during my last visit, specifically due to Briana's attitude. After waiting over 40 minutes, some of my friends' food still hadn't arrived (even though people who ordered after us had already received their meals). We spoke with the food runner, who was wonderful and very helpful throughout the situation. He discovered that my friends' food had mistakenly been given to another table and reassured us the replacement orders would be coming soon. Since it was so late, my friends decided to make their meals to-go. After waiting another 15 minutes with still no sign of their food, I went to the counter to politely ask how much longer it would be. A staff member named Briana turned around to assist me. I explained our situation, and when I started to say, "I think the orders were..." she immediately cut me off with, "You think, or do you know?" and then added, "You haven't been waiting that long." I was stunned by her hostility--I'm never confrontational with staff especially when they're clearly in a dinner rush, so her attitude really caught me off guard. At that point, I just returned to my table and told my friends they need to explain their orders directly to her. Thankfully, the original food runner brought out the food soon after and sincerely apologized multiple times regarding situation. He even went above and beyond by offering us coupons, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, the food was excellent as always, but Briana's customer service was unacceptable and left a very sour impression. read more

Uber eats pick up came through tonight. Right on time. A bit easier than the website just for ease of use for the UI, but ordering via website on the phone works too. The burgers here are great - fresh and flavorful. The buns are outstanding. I love the fries - especially with the green Chile queso. If you get some extra it goes great on the burgers or the Thunderbird chicken sandwich. The food has always come out fast and fresh. Cold craft beers on tap. Great little outside seating area. These burgers are spot on! Well, I don't eat red meat but the Thunderbird is FIRE!!! So tasty and moist. White meat patties are often dry or crumbly but not here. Also. ALL OF THE FRIES!!! The line is often long, especially if there is an event on the green space. My one "beef"with Hopdoddy, and it's come up a few times now, has to do with the lengthy process of ordering just a beer. If you already have your food, I've been sent to the end of the food line multiple weeks to order just a beer. When I get to the front of the line, they send me to the bar to order. But when I go straight to the bar, I get sent to the line. Others in my friend group who come for trivia also run into this. Why can't there be the option to just order from the bar initially? If draft beers were an option to order online; I'd totally do that. It's how I order my food, but I don't prefer the bottles and cans options online. Taking away the second star. For my resent visit last week. I went in with some co workers for a lunch birthday and it was pretty cool to see separate "vegan/vegetarian" menu. A separate menu, or even a pre programmed button that states in detail how to make the burger vegan does absolutely no good when there is an apparent misunderstanding by the staff who makes the food. I ordered the "El Bandito" at $13.75 with a side of fries for an additional cost. They were out of the began bun which wasn't a big deal since I got to try my first burger with a lettuce bun. But of course my burger came out with their NON vegan pesto and aioli. So I had to send it back. When it came back my patty had cheese on both sides which only meant they scraped the sauces off and threw a piece of cheese on it and called it day. I'm also ok with that as long as non of the sauces touched my patty so create less waste, but you guys have to get it together. Y'all are going to hurt someone with an allergy really really bad. It is not ok to have uneducated staff anywhere on your team when it comes to food allergens or preferences. That's negligent and dangerous. read more

They are clearly understaffed like most places nowadays so expect to wait at least 10+ minutes for your alcoholic drinks and another 5+ for your food. I am so glad Hopdoddy opened up in College Station! I feel that the taste here is just like the one on South Congress in Austin. While I do like their burgers, what really stands out to me are the fries and milkshakes. Their parmesan truffle fries are my all time favorite! I usually ask for extra truffle aioli. The milkshakes at Hopdoddy are thick, creamy, and delicious. My favorite is the Oreo, but you can't really go wrong. For my burger, I usually go with the classic and add bacon & cheese! If you are looking for a drink, the classic margarita is a great choice. This location has a nice grassy area next door to hang out & talk with friends after. The only downside is that the parking lot is fairly small, and the nearby spots were paid parking only the last time I was there. I'd recommend coming by with friends for a fun dinner! read more

The bartender checked and said they were still working on my order. 15 minutes pass and I finally check with someone at the counter. They tell me they don't know why it let me order what I did because they've been out of veggie burgers for hours. I relayed this info through a customer service survey. Someone did reach out and apologize. But it's now 6 days later and I still don't have my refund posted to my credit card despite having the attached receipt. I've emailed and called and have gotten no response. A couple my of coworkers had to send their burgers back because they weren't cooked. One was cold in the middle and the other was pink like mine. One of my favorite things about College Station is Century Square and Hopdoddy's just happens to be in it! There's lots of seating (indoors and outdoors) and the restaurant is making sure to take precautions due to COVID. This is super reassuring and makes me feel safer when I eat out. I got the Magic Shroom, which included Basil Pesto, Mushrooms, Goat Cheese, Tomatoes, Onions, Lettuce, and Mayo. Each bite was creamy and the burger melted in my mouth. The pesto wasn't too overwhelming to where it outshined the burger and the goat cheese added a nice, creamy finish. The Parmesan Truffle Fries tasted soooo good with the truffle aioli. These fries had the right amount of crunch/"fryness" and had a sprinkle of salt. Overall, 5/5 experience and food quality! I can't wait to come back to try more! read more
