We tried. FOOD: The burger sucked. The bread was old and crumbly and then soggy on the inside. The burger didn't fit the description, and it was overall not something that tasted like it came from a place that specializes in burgers. Chicken tenders - these are tough chicken. They're not hot on the inside, and it felt like eating a block of cheese but made of "chicken." With a pretty good digestive system, this meal will be notable on your body. The brain was fine ,- nothing to write home about. The buffalo sauce wasn't saucy enough, so I simply asked for a dipping sauce. Sweet potato fries - they were salty with an oily over-crisp later on the outside. The shape and center (soft, sweet potato flavor) were enjoyable, especially with the sauce. The menu called it Buffalo sauce, but it's more of a barbecue sauce and is not spicy/vinegar-y THE BAR: The bartender was nice, but he doesn't know how to make drinks. His recommendations (or even if we asked about a specific item) were way off par. The "old fashioned" pictured was barely half a shot with water and no cherry. The setup of the bar doesn't quite make sense. It doesn't go all the way around, but in an odd way. Most of the bar seats are in direct line of the cold air from the exit door. The most confusing part is that the tv screen itself is directly above the edge of the bar. So from the seat, you have to look up at an angle to catch game highlights, and it's unlikely you'd be able to watch a full game. AMBIANCE: While the entrance line leading up to order at the bar was not quite obvious, it was large enough to handle a long queue if there were one. The menu in the TV screen was overwhelming, but you can stand in line and read a paper copy. There is tons of seating - mostly four- or six- person tables. I'm simple and always go with "The Classic" burger but I add pepper-jack cheese and sliced avocado. It's so delicious! They have quite a few specialty burgers that always catch my eye but I'm too much of a creature of habit. The shareable fries though... they are truly the superstars of the show. My favorites include the parmesan truffle fries and the hot honey & sage sweet potato fries. The nacho fries also look incredible. They come in a large stainless steel bowl and come loaded with toppings. Truly my preferred way of getting served fries. I've heard the loaded brussels are also yummy if you're trying to be a bit healthier. This place is so screwed up. They messed up our entire order. We ordered four burgers and fries for the whole family. Every Burger was in the wrong box including a beef burger being in the vegetarian box and when I talked to the manager AJ all he did was make lame excuses and gaslight me and tell me how wrong we were for not noticing that they were all in the wrong box. I told him when we give a new place a try, we don't really know what to expect. He tried to say oh so only one thing was wrong. This guy was really gaslighting the crap out of me and he made me realize that Hopdoddy is a trash restaurant. I'm definitely gonna go up the ladder to corporate on this one but instead of just saying oh my gosh I'm so sorry. Let me give you a refund to come get the new order. My family ordered takeout from this location for dinner on a Monday night. The pickup process went pretty smoothly and our order was ready within 20 minutes from when we placed it. We did have to wait on our milkshakes at the bar, as they had not started on those until after our food was ready. After picking up our order, we immediately noticed the whole car smelled like old, burnt fryer grease. Sure enough, when we got home we noticed our chicken tenders were super dark, dry, and overdone. This was not pleasant, especially considering the price point. I had to pick through them to find edible portions for our kids. I enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, as the spice level was on point and it was crispy, but the chicken also had a slight old fryer oil taste. I hate that Hopdoddy's has such bad ratings here because the food is actually really good - it's the service that brings the restaurant down. When we went, there was only one "adult" - the rest of the staff were clearly young. They tried their best but it kind of shows that they don't really know what they're doing. We ordered a boozy shake and they didn't even start making it until after our food came out and after we reminded someone that we had ordered it. Mind you, it wasn't as if they were slammed and it slipped through the cracks. I'd understand that. It was dead, there were maybe three other tables in the whole place. On to the food itself. You have to try their Primetime burger. It's top 5 burgers I've had from a restaurant. Juicy, meaty, savory, delicious. The A1 onions are right up my alley because I find caramelized onions too sweet most of the time. The ratio of bun to bread was on point. Strawberry boozy shake is enough for at least 2, if not 3 people. It's dangerous because you can't taste the liquor but I promise you it's in there. Both were very delicious, oddly enough the Brazillian Wagyu is a great burger for later if there happens to be leftovers - no lettuce or tomato to get soggy, just pure flavor for later on! The shareable sweet potato fries didn't last long (not for lack of quantity, teenager with an appetite) so we got the hot honey and sage Brussels sprout leaves - my first though was that it was a bit too spicy, and yet I couldn't stop eating them.... It's a great taste that somehow sticks with you enough to crave more. Service was very good, food was pretty well timed, everyone was helpful and making sure it was a good experience all around. This was my first visit to Hopdoddy since they were Grub Burger. My son and I decided to give the new menu a try. We got in line to make our to go order and I must admit the new menu is pretty cool. I had the Llano Poblano and the son had the Bacon Jam Double. We both ordered shakes and I got the Brussels. Let's begin with the service. The staff was super nice and the expediter was on point! There are a few items that were lacking: * We were looking for to go sauces but no to go containers * Our milkshakes were great but no lids to go on them and the lid we received was too big for the container which flew off along with my straw the moment I got outside and the wind blew it off. * The old Grub app should have had the option of moving rewards to the new platform or warning the users they needed use them before the change. The poblano burger was good but needed a condiment to help. I'm glad I had access to Mayo but a mild Southwest sauce would have helped. The son loved the bacon jam burger and after a couple of bites, wished he had asked it the burger came as a single. He said the texture from the jam was a little bit different for him but wants to try it again. The Brussels were okay and you have your choice of style preparations. Swung by here for lunch at 1pm with my lady. Line wasn't too crazy, just about 4-5 folks ahead of us and food popped out pretty quick. Place was nice with a good mellow bar area to sit. We went there about a week or so after it opened and got our usual- chicken sandwich and for me the veggie burger. I'm a salt not a sweet eater and this burger was way too salty for even me. I figured it was just newly opened issues and trying to find their groove. So we gave it another try last night and the same thing! I couldn't even finish my veggie burger because it was SO very salty, my mouth puckered and dried up! Very crazy!! We loved the food in Arizona so I'm not sure what they are doing differently here in GA. Husband loves the chicken sandwich though and the fry offerings are great. Possibly the best burger I've ever eaten. I stopped in after work on a Tuesday around 4:00PM one day. I forget what it was called, but it had basil pesto dressing, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion (which I removed,) and instead of goat cheese, I asked for tangy bleu cheese crumbles. It was so delicious, I had to try and recreate it at home, to some success. The part I couldn't quite replicate was the perfectly cooked, medium-rare patty. They topped it off by seasoning the burger with a blend of spices, which complemented the juicy meat. I will definitely be going back for this spectacular burger until I can cook my meat as well as this location did. Terrible experience and won't return. We've been going to the Collections and have eaten at Grub for years. Today, However was our first encounter experience with the restaurant as Hopdoddy. With the Collection being an "open container" community of business, it is perfectly legal to order an alcoholic beverage "to-go" and walk around to visit other stores and restaurants. Well today was St. Patrick's day...Rainy and cold. My family and I had just finished lunch at Cheekys, walked thru multiple stores with drinks in hand, stopped by Wild Wings for a green beer before heading to my wife's hair appointment, also in the Collections. My daughter and I needed to get out of the rain and maybe some ice cream as we waited for my wife to finish her appointment. So I strolled my toddler and the quarter cup of leftover Wild Wings beer over to Hopdoddy for a dry place to hang and a cookies + cream milk shake. Just like Grub, this place hasn't improved it's extremely weird and inconvenient ordering process. If you've eaten here you know what I'm talking about. But whatever.. So with my beer in hand, I order and pay for the milkshake at the register and then take a seat at the bar where they prepare the shakes. For about five minutes my daughter and I take turns sharing the delicious treat, happy and relaxed...Exactly what my goal was while waiting for Mommy -not even realizing I still had beer in my cup sitting next to us. But no matter, ice cream was the focus, I wasn't there to drink. Just then, as if I'm a belligerent over-served drunk the manager (Rick Williams) walks up and promptly orders me to leave the restaurant, citing that I wasn't welcome since I didn't purchase my beer from there. I was absolutely shocked and embarrassed. Here I was, 43 years old, electrical engineer with a family of 5 and I have NEVER needed to be asked to leave ANY restaurant or bar in my life...until now. I didn't give him an argument I just simply replied "really?!" With my child sitting on my lap, begging for more shake Rick explained "If we didn't serve you that beer, you must leave". So I just said "We'll then you won't ever serve us again either." At which he quickly responded "Fine!" Everyone was looking at us. I didn't know what else to say. His approach was intended to be dominate and intimidating. So i strapped my daughter into her stroller, grabbed my beer and left. I immediately threw the beer out as I exited the restaurant-it was warm at this point anyhow lol. He could have just asked me to discard it. This place will gladly take your money and serve you but kick you out for an unposted policy not in line with other businesses in the Collections. There was a better way of handling this situation Rick Williams. You are tacky, rude, and place no value on customer service. I hope the new owner reads this and realizes his business will suffer if he keeps managers like you employed. I won't be back. read more
