If I want to treat myself to a snack after work I opt for the deviled eggs (so stinkin good and if you really want a treat add bacon crumbles on top ) and a small fries. Today I had a rough day at work needing to work through a migraine; which I related to Dylan at the drive thru after he asked I was doing today. Staff is fantastic as I have come to expect from Jim N Nicks. Fun and friendly! Food is great as it sends me into a 'lost in the sauce' moment. Corn on the cob is a winner. My husband was excited to come here because they have Carolina style pork. We ordered the 2 meats platter and we picked pork and brisket, and for the sides we ordered Mac and cheese and collard greens. My husband enjoyed the pork and said that it was almost perfect but the sauce he's used to is a little thicker than the one they have but he is happy with it. My brisket was disappointing and dry. I ate one piece and didn't want the rest. My husband enjoyed his sides and I loved the biscuits that were served. I even asked the server if I could have some more and she brought me some. The service was pretty slow though. I did like that we were seated right away. Since hubby likes it, he'll probably be back but I'll try a different meat. read more

Had brisket, ribs, chicken, Mac n' cheese. Ribs were meaty and tender, the brisket was juicy, tender, and not too lean or too fatty. The Mac n' cheese was good. My nephew's girlfriend says the cheese biscuits are to die for, but avoid the coleslaw. read more

Unfortunately, Cumming GA doesn't have any great BBQ spots which sucks so this Jim 'N Nick's is the best option. The food here isn't great but the good news is, it's not too bad and it's at least consistently average (never sucks). The best bets on the menu are the chicken and beef brisket and the pulled pork isn't too bad (just missing a good chard ends). I would steer clear of their ribs and Brunswick stew. Their biggest drawback in my opinion is how expensive everything is despite tasting average at best. On the good side, their desserts are tasty and with homemade lemonade, you can get a really good Arnold Palmer here to accompany your average BBQ. The service here is usually good inside and a bit hit-or-miss in the drive through. If you live in Cumming and want BBQ fast, this is your best option. If you've got the time to drive a bit further, Dreamland and Williamson Bros are really good options, better pricing and much, much better BBQ. read more

Took my parents here tonight after having lunch with a friend on July 4th earlier this week. The lunch was so good that I knew I had to bring my family here for their southern BBQ experience because things have been a little inconsistent for them. Tonight was not busy inside the restaurant, but that was not a bad thing. Kathleen was our server tonight, and she did not disappoint at all. On top of everything that we needed, there to help answer questions, and basically a member of our family with her attitude and professionalism. We started out by ordering some drinks, as well as an small appetizer of onion rings to complement our cheesy biscuits (more closer to muffins but it's not a big to-do. Hot out of the oven and fryer- both were wolfed down and enjoyed by us. My father loves ribs- so he went with a half rack with collards and Mac n cheese. My mother went with a brisket sandwich and had the collards also, as well as the baked beans. I had the catfish (2 fillets) with fries and Mac n cheese so I could share. Sides of sauces: sweet bbq, extra tartar, and Carolina style vinegar based. I had a taste of everything and the beans were a pleasant surprise for me. Onion rings are so good here, I'm positive they're freshly made and not frozen but this was a mini argument we had- my catfish was crazy tasty with their special dredge that I think would make anything taste so good! We had no room for dessert, but I promise the next time I'm here and sitting in Kathleen's section I'll make sure I save room for either a pie or the banana pudding. Thanks to the team here. Couldn't tell from the packed lunch earlier this week to the slower early dinner service tonight. The food was top level and the service from Kathleen tonight was impeccable. We're traveling for sports and staying in Cumming. In order to avoid traffic, we wanted something close to the hotel. It's been a long time since we've received service this bad... Syd had a special skill to truly not care about her tables, her job or the food she was serving and she made that clear by her actions. * there was no greeting the table, just told us to give her our drink orders + food orders * she wouldn't even acknowledge if we asked for something (butter for the cheese biscuits) * she never checked to see if the delivered food was good/what we ordered (thankfully the food was delivered by 2 other servers who were good) * we weren't offered dessert, she just brought the check * she was truly annoyed that we asked for boxes/lids for sauces/a to-go cup/bag to carry out our 3 boxes of leftovers The food - we ordered with the intention of having leftovers to bring back to the hotel for the following day... 1) Full rack of ribs with baked potato / potato salad 2) Brisket plate with fries / greens 3) Chicken finger dinner with greens and a salad The Full Rack of Baby Back Ribs were delicious!! The chicken fingers were rubbery, like they had sat under the heat lamp for more than 10 minutes, thankfully the person who brought our food to the table (not our server) brought some of the sides a few minutes later and we were able to ask to receive fresh fingers and the new batch were delicious and hot. The Brisket was warm and I wish it was warmer but it was seasoned well and overall good. We all really like the greens at Jim n Nicks and they didn't disappoint. read more

We love Jim 'N Nicks! We often pick-up or order in bulk (chicken, pork, brisket, sometimes a combo) and add meat to what we're cooking or just have it as our main. It's quick, easy, flavorful and versatile. We add meat to our salads, make meat ragú sauce, sandwiches, etc. It's less time consuming than buying the meat at the grocery store and smoking it yourself. It's one of our go-to's. Outside of the bbq, the cheese biscuits are also delicious and I love the way they do their deviled eggs. The one thing I haven't found I like is their cole slaw, but everyone does it differently and most people have their own style preference. Theirs just happens to not align with mine. read more

The sad thing is when you go through the drive-through and you drive off and get on the interstate there's not going back. We got a barbecue sandwich, we asked for two different sauces and got no sauce. We had lukewarm french fries that were limp and over salted. We got a large lemonade that was warm. It had a good taste, but it needed more ice and we had an hour to drive home with nothing but a warm drink and a dry sandwich. We are big Jim and Nick fans. If we're ever near a restaurant, we always go. Definitely a disappointment. read more

They forgot my mac n cheese side and bbq sauce, instead it was some spicy sauce put in the bag that looks like bbq. I put that on my sandwich. Our waitress was good however, once the bill came, I decided to add on two banana puddings to go. My daughter called me and asked if I could order them and drop them by her house. The banana pudding looked old, and the bananas were black and fuzzy. I nicely asked the waitress if I could get them taken off my check. The problem was when the manager came over to give me the new receipt. He was literally yelling/talking so incredibly loud that the whole restaurant could've heard him talking. He was very rude and short with me. When the manager walked away from the table, my friend, who was at the table with me, asked why he was yelling so loud, and that her ears were ringing. This guy was a jerk! I called the restaurant after I left to speak with him. He stated that this is how he always speaks. However, when he was one table over, I could not hear him speaking to that group of diners. So, this is not how he speaks to everyone! Not sure if I will be going back ever again! In my lifetime, this was probably my 5th visit to a Jim N Nicks. This location resides in the outskirts of The Collection, right off 400 (exit 13). Plenty of outdoor seating here & indoor seating, and they can certainly fit big parties. For this night, a friend of mine was doing her book signing for one of the groups I'm in, so that's the only reason I ventured out here. Truth be told, I don't eat Red Meat as much these days so BBQ places aren't my go-to. I believe we had 20 people or so, and our waitress was struggling to keep up, so I can't fault her on the delays with my drink. They did have the basket of sweet cornbread muffins (which comes as an appetizer and is "free"). These things are amazing! They do have a bar here with some specialty drinks. We order the Southern Peach (bourbon drink and real peaches). It was really good, and would recommend. I got the 2 meat combo meal with BBQ chicken, turkey, collards and Mac n cheese. It was not the best food experience I've had here ... chicken was moist but it didn't come out like I recalled last time & bbq was onside (I swear I have a photo from a past experience where the presentation was much better). Turkey pieces were large but I just didn't feel like finishing my meal so had it for lunch the next day. Collards were, Mac n cheese was decent. The bbq sauce on this visit was off too. Five of us at lunch for my wife's birthday. I ordered the brisket chili, which I enjoyed, but I would have preferred not to have the cheese added on top by the kitchen. I also had deviled eggs that I ordered for the table, but I was the only one who wanted them. That was not the case with onion rings that were liked by everyone. Wife had brisket with collards and slaw as sides. She liked the brisket a lot, although one of the three slices was overdone. She also disliked both sides, but our waiter replaced them with a mac & cheese. Daughter #1 ordered chicken fingers and said they were good. Daughter #2 had catfish, and didn't offer a critique. She shred her sides with her BF, who decided to just order a pound of pork, aiming to take most of it home!?? Free birthday slice of lemon meringue pie was enjoyed by all. Cheese biscuits as usual are good. Our waiter was excellent, and one thing I appreciated was his bringing refills for all of us at one time. I have never actually been to Jim N Nicks, so I cannot speak to the service or the restaurant itself. This rating is only for the food. I have only had experience with their food either through catered parties or through delivery services. The loaded baked potato - holy crap...this thing is big enough for several people to eat off of LOL It's delicious with pulled pork in it. Seated immediately and server was right there taking our fri k orders I can specifically for the baby back ribs. We ordered and not five minutes later our dinner was served. I commented on that and the server said they were in the smoker ready to be served. She wasn't kidding. My ribs were like a block of concrete. Dried out and not easy to cut. Obviously in that smoker way too long. She offers to get recombining wise but I passed. No mgr came out to address the issue. We will not be back. But the folks are delicious! read more

It did seem the tables were being spaced out (so not every table was in use) and the staff were wearing masks. Overall the service was great when they showed up, but it took them a while to show up or check on the table We ordered the beef brisket sandwich with one trimming - we choose the house salad - and we got the quarter chicken with two trimmings - fries. and corn. the meats were cooked well and were tender but had little flavor inside - definitely needed the sauces they provide to add extra flavor. the french fries were good and the house salad had lettuce, cheese and walnut so was decent; the bbq corn was also decent as well. the complimentary cheddar cheese biscuits were nice overall, an average meal with decent flavor and decent portion size read more

To start, I have been going to this location for years. The food was always good, not quite great, but not bad. However, that changed for the worse. I recently ordered two lunches, totaling $76.00. Upon returning to the office, I found that two items were missing (extra order of biscuits and a large side). This was the start of what I'm calling a 'company in decline'. The chicken wings tasted terrible. They used to be smoked for hours and were large and juicy. These tasted flavorless and microwaved. For the most expensive Buffalo wings in the state, I expect much much better. Absolutely not worth the price when served like this. Then there was the meal. Burnt ribs, so over cooked it was like chewing charcoal briquettes. The side of fruit was 9 rotten grapes. Rotten...not one of the 9 grapes that made up the side dish were edible. Two were pruned to raisins and one had mold on it. Rotten! The list goes on, but rather than elaborate on rotted, burnt and flavorless food. I'd rather point out how good the food used to be. This is no longer the case. If this restaurant continues to fall out with their food to this level, I suspect they'll soon be closing their doors. My advice is to try one of the two new barbecue places in the same shopping center. I'm willing to guess they won't sell you rotten food. read more

So this place is apparently popular for more than just BBQ. They have baked potatoes that are the size of you head. And the meaning of loaded is on a whole another level. Got the huge baked potatoes with pulled pork, and a baby baked potato (actual normal size). Plus we had a pulled pork sandwich. All the main food was really good and Smokey, as it should be, with two low points, but not huge part of the meal. The fries were not as crunchy as I like and the deviled eggs weren't as creamy. Had chunks of celery. But the complimentary cornbread made up for it for sure. I would definitely recommend this place but come hungry or be prepared to share. read more
