As you walk into the Pellston Airport and climb up the beautifully carved wooden stairway, you'd never know a restaurant bar awaits you on the 2nd floor. But once you walk in, it's instant good vibes and ambiance. Ordered the Friday night all you can eat fish and it was seriously the best I've had. What a great place to hang out if you want great pizza or need to kill time due to flight delay. The pizza is delicious, their salads are big, and the mozzarella sticks were good too. Their pours were generous as well. If all of this doesn't convince you, then there is the epic staff! Barbara became my friend by the time I'd left. Personable, sincere, efficient and kind enough to suggest I ask for a voucher for my flight delay which made my lunch almost free! We had some extra time when we were flying out of the Pellston Airport, so we opted to get lunch here. Very rustic looking with lots of wood along with some local sports paraphernalia. Can very much recommend their pizza - caprese style. It was large enough to share with another person. Another friend in our group ordered a burger along with fries. The fries were an unusual shape, but they were fresh, hot and delicious. As an added bonus, they played some of my favorite music from the 60s and 70s. Had dinner there . Really enjoyed walking around looking at the building and attention to detail. The food was very good. However the service was very lacking . Our waiter, (never got a name) was very crass. Didn't acknowledge our family coming in. As we have never been there, it was not busy one table at the time. We were not sure if we were to seat ourselves. It seemed we were an inconvenience to him. He was rude at our table. We thanked him upon bringing things, he didn't respond, acted as if we didn't say anything. Again seeming like we were a bother and really putting him out. Did not ask if we wanted refills, took sons food without a word , not knowing if he was finished . Ignored my partner completely when he spoke to him. Extremely off putting . Not welcoming whatsoever. If management had been around and came and did an entree check, they would have been told this, and more. Having someone represent your establishment that requires people skills. Even if he had to fake a smile. This older gentleman perhaps should be behind the scenes and not with the public. A friendly bar that serves food too. I saw people ordering pizza and burgers. I don't know what else they have on the menu. Hoppie's Landing is in the terminal for Pellston airport. What I loved about the place was the rustic decor... with a lot of taxidermy pieces including a huge aquarium of taxidermy fish. A great staple in the area. If you're a fan of Hoppie's Tavern you'll love this place -- & yet it is unique from the "original." Hands down the best item on the menu is their pizza -- quarterback favorite is our fav. House-made dough & sauce. Perfect size for two to split (with leftovers). The whitefish pâté, when available, is expertly done and FRESH. (Which is why its not always available.) That said, we have had many things off the menu and have never been disappointed. Everything is good. Most things are great. Always friendly, prompt, attentive service. Tabletop shuffleboard, TVs always on sports, great atmosphere are a bonus. You won't disappointed! read more

I've always liked the restaurant space at the Pellston Airport and Hoppie's on Burt Lake has been a local favorite for years, so when I heard there would now be a second Hoppie's, in one of the most interesting spaces around? It sounded brilliant to me! The menu is a little different, with a few items missing or names changed (for example, the Western Bacon Burger has become the "Smokehouse" burger) and other items added (like pizza). The food is not fancy, but what they do, they do well. Hoppie's burgers are of good quality. Their nachos are also a favorite with fresh-fried chips and generous toppings. In my opinion, the only thing that lacks on the menu are the salads. They seem a bit of an afterthought, pretty standard. The furniture is rustic log, the walls are decorated with local artwork, and taxidermy is on display throughout the airport. That may not sound appealing to some, but I appreciate that the overall effect is more of an introduction to Northern Michigan's natural beauty rather than creepy hunting lodge. This is the kind of place that should just become part of the local dining landscape for years to come. The food is good, the service is quick, the prices are no higher than at Hoppie's sister restaurant (a pleasant surprise), the atmosphere is calm, and you get to watch the occasional plane come and go. read more

Nice, comfortable and friendly. Burger selection is pretty good. My Singing the Blues Burger was a little dry, but I ordered it "medium" thinking that most places under cook a little. Nice amount of blue cheese and the bacon was great. Home-made kettle chips were slightly heavy but tasty. Others in our group liked the Turkey Burger, Mushroom/Swiss Burger and my mom complimented the Pasta Alfredo. Loved our server! Very friendly staff. read more

Love Hoppies on Burt Lake, so my first (and only) experience at this location was a huge disappointment. One waitress on a Sunday afternoon, and she had a miserable attitude. Pretty much threw our menus at us, and it went downhill from there. We ordered glasses of water and an appetizer, and when we were ready to order our meals we were told "you'll just have to wait". The restaurant was NOT that busy, and she didn't have to be so rude! Got our meals, she never bothered taking the appetizer plates out of the way and never bothered checking back with us. My friend needed extra sauce for her sandwich and was already halfway through it before I was able to get the waitresses attention. It was obvious we were just such an annoyance to her. She then snapped at me - very loudly - after bringing a glass of water, complaining about being the only waitress there. NOT the customer's fault that your restaurant is understaffed. Someone needs a lesson in customer service, or a career change. I'd never go back. read more

We have eaten here several times this summer because Hoppe's Tavern gets so crowded. We ordered dinner the first time and they were very good. The next 2 times we ordered pizza...in a word, they were awful. The last pizza had tomato sauce and it was unbearably acidic. The owners should send someone over to evaluate the food and I think they need some big changes as the food at the Tavern is always good. read more

Well if you would have asked me in February of 2015 I would have said this place is amazing! My husband, 2 sons & I stopped in for dinner after a day of snowmobiling. Pizza was buy one get one 1/2 off so we tried the Western Pizza, It was great! My 2 sons wish they would have ordered pizza instead of sandwiches. Friday night we decided to have it again and order Western Pizza again, Loved it again! Went home bragged to friends & family how good the pizza was, tried to find a place that sold a Western/Cheeseburger pizza that was as good near home. In May we got a chance to be near Pellston so the first place we thought to eat was Hoppies Landing and get a Western Pizza, my husband ordered 3 of them one for us to eat with dinner & 2 for home. Very disappointed when the pizza arrived, looked NOTHING like it did in February. It had fried onions on it that tasted like the fish fry from the night before, in February it was purple onions cooked on the pizza. It was covered in bacon & beef minced, not nice size pieces like before. I've contacted Hoppies in weather they had a chef change and to let them know of the disappointed experience we had thru the contact us button on the website. No response, I hope if your going back that your not as disappointed as we are. read more
