Visited at the recommendation of another Yelper and happy I did. Their food is an interesting twist on both traditional bar food and bbq. Lots of tables throughout, a full bar, and a beer garden outside ... it's a good vibe. We had the Jalepeno, Cream Cheese and Bacon wontons to start. Super spicy!! In a good way! They were crisp and left my mouth watering, yet wanting more. I had the Brisket Grilled Cheese (good flavor, Ever so slightly greasy bread) with the corn bread. THE CORN BREAD! Not your normal Jiffy! This was moist, huge, and had tremendous flavor. My companion had the Carolina Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich with French fries and other than not being able to get her mouth around this monster of a sandwich, liked it. Instead of plain old pickles on top, it has fried pickles. We also had the Bourbon Infused Deep Fried Twinkie for dessert. We had a party of four. Ok service. I'll give her some slack she was young and inexperienced so just needs to learn a little more. It wasn't busy so I would have liked her to ask if everything was ok after you deliver the food you come back in the next five minutes. Only because my burger was waaaayy over done. I asked for medium rare and I got a dry meatloaf. She came back once for drink order and I didn't have time to ask for a different burger because she brought the two drinks and turned and left. Then by the time she returned my group was almost done and I didn't want to complain. They said their food was good. Crab cakes, Cuban and shrimp. We were asked if we needed boxes and I said yes, but when she came back I said the burger was overdone since she finally asked, I asked for the manager and she said there wasn't a manager there???? and she seemed offended and went to ask fellow staff if she could take half off which was fine but grabbed the plate and said I gave you half off but I need the item. Like I was trying to rip them off by taking it with me. If the staff looked at it it was very obvious it wasn't medium rare!! I cut off a 1/4 of it and ate it so maybe they thought I was trying to get away with a free meal?? I guess, don't order a burger (dry meatloaf) there. I would have eaten it but it was so dry. You could see that it was not made right just looking at it. Zero juiciness. And it was their highlighted menu item. So you'd think it would be done correctly. I'm willing to give restaurants some room for recent events; staffing problems, food prices etc. but no reason for not being pro customer service. And making the customer feel bad about getting what they paid for. So basically we paid 8 bucks for 1/4 burger and some French fries. I know I rated this a little low, but first off I do wanna say that the drinks were good and the service was incredibly fast. Bartender was on point at ordering drinks for me at the time, and had no problem keeping up with me. The main problem I had was the food. I ordered the Carolina pulled pork with tots. Tots were fine, but the pulled pork seemed pretty watery and tasteless. Sure, there was some smokiness too it, but it just lacked a lot of flavor. My boyfriend got the trio tacos which were delicious but the star was the slab of cornbread casserole...(I may be partial because it reminds me of my grandmas:) I got the black bean veggie burger (my second time getting it... too good not to get) the first one brought to the table was over cooked which is understandably easy to do but our waitress was awesome and quickly replaced it with a perfectly cooked one. Ending with the bad ...chief complaint is that the few tables tucked in the back by the kitchen and bathrooms aren't the best especially on a weekend when bathroom goers tend to be quite loud and it doesn't exactly sent a good ambiance. Downing a star since my last visit, they need to get rid of the giant ignorant table in the middle of the room. Seems convenient but when you have a party of 25 people. You find yourself screaming at the person just across from you! They knew we had a table of 25 coming in on a Sunday night, for a bday party a few days notice at the most. About 6 plates came out about 15 mins later, no biggie, but then the next "set of plates" didn't arrive for about 30 minutes. Literally. Let's start with the crab cake dinner ordered to split as an appetizer. 2 nice cakes with a pile of slaw As soon as the crabs hit the table we could smell the crab. Yum. Flavorful fresh tasting crab one of the best I've had. No breading not fried will definitely order again. Also had pulled pork sandwich w fries . Tender and flavorful light coating of BBQ sauce . My friend and i came here for an late lunch and sat on the patio. We both ordered the special which was a spinach wrap with 3 smoked meats and a garlic aioli. We skipped the fries and had crispy brussel sprouts for our side. The brussel sprouts were fantastic! They were crispy and the reduced balsamic sauce was really great! The wrap was okay. I asked for extra aioli because i found the smoked meat to be quite dry. The sauce was okay, but tasted like hellmann's with some garlic thrown in. I know mayonnaise and aioli are first cousins, but if you're going to serve mayonnaise with garlic, say that. read more

Disappointing menu with very few options. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was really good and perfectly sized. Wait staff is just ok, but the bar staff... 4-5 of them at a time and you'd think the drinks would come out quicker. I'll admit the food here is good, they just need to offer a few more options. We were offered an appetizer that they couldn't fill because they ran out of fries. We made do with a platter of fully loaded tater tots instead. Here's a good tip: limit your intake of potatoes by ordering the coleslaw on the side with your sandwich. Then the loaded potato appetizer won't put you into a potato coma. Update (11/27): menu has been updated and is much better. On our prior visit, we were not made aware of the limited pre-opening menu selections. This place isn't much to look at from the outside, but give it a try and you won't be disappointed. It is pretty sharp looking inside with a long bar. There are many TVs tuned to different channels so you can pick a spot that has something you want to watch. I stopped here for the first time last night for dinner with a friend. We tried a wide variety of cocktails (including an adult milkshake) and food. Both of us agreed we would be coming back. The highlight was the steak bites. It is served with a stone at 500F and you cook as you want on the stone. I'll be back to try the steak on a stone. I thought the menu had enough unusual items to set itself apart from other restaurants in the area. Because of our excellent dinner the night before, we decided to try the Sunday morning Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar. Once again, just like the dinner menu, the breakfast menu had many items we wanted to try since they seemed unique. The food was again excellent. We had fun making our Bloody Marys and had Mimosas for desert. The best thing about the Bloody Mary bar---they had Uncle Dougie's Bloody Mary Mix!!!! The only way this morning would have started out better is if they had Uncle Dougie's Bloody Caesar Mix. What a great way to start Sunday morning. The bill was very reasonable for all the food/drinks. They have extensive hours, an unusual menu, carry an excellent selection of craft beers and the whiskey/bourbon/rye/scotch collection behind the bar is amazing. What is not to love! Should have short seats in front as the tall chairs are not suitable for people with back issues. Traveling through, we found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. We're glad we did. It was a Sunday evening about 8pm and we were there for dinner. The place had cleared out after a Chicago Bears game so we had the place to ourselves. We sat at the bar. My wife got a salad and shared my rack of ribs. The bar tender was helpful and knowledgeable with the beer, and the ribs were great. I agree with the good reviews. I want to give the Hoppy Pig more stars but the service we received today was so bad, two stars is as high as I can go. I can only blame the management for the problems we had with our server as it seemed she lacked training, especially with her knowledge of the specials menu items. She also was not very efficient, making multiple trips, bringing only one item asked for at a time. Not to mention, I had to remind her of the appetizer I ordered when she was bringing the main courses to the table and completely forgetting a side dish I had ordered. However, the missing side dish made it on the check. The food was delish and don't forget to order the cornbread casserole.....sooo good! The beer menu is extensive with lots of good selections. I went here with my family and I ordered the buffalo sliders. I generally really like buffalo anything. This unfortunately was way too spicy for me to the point where I had to drink 3 glasses of water and my mouth was still burning. I told the server I would pay for the one I took a bite of but not the other two because I couldn't handle it. It's not my fault or anyone else's fault about the heat and my ability to handle it. She was ARGUING with me about how it's my own problem and she's not doing anything about it because it's MY FAULT. I'm a server and have been for 6 years. When a guest at a restaurant says they don't like something or it's too spicy or something we take it off or get them something else. Instead of getting the manager, they server talked to a guy who wasn't even the manager and came back and told me what the "manager" said. I said no I would like to speak with him instead of going back and fourth and talking through someone. A gentleman came out and informed me that he would get yelled by the actual manger if he took it off the bill so he proceeded to tell me "whatever I'll just personally pay for it." Me feeling worse than I already was said why? It's not your fault or my fault this is ridiculous... so he proceeded to say fine I'll deal with it. Later the server came back to the table, rolled her eyes and threw the check down. How beyond crazy is it that I got talked down to by the server and mistreated because of something out of my control. I shouldn't have been talked to like that because my mouth burned so bad. Inappropriate and unprofessional to say the least. I normally do love this place but I can't believe this experience I had. And after venting to a friend she said she had a similar experience.
