Great chain! I love the whole bar feel to the family friendly restaurant. Happy Hour is the way to go here as the drinks can get pretty spendy (3 of my happy hour drinks was the same price as my boyfriends 1 that wasn't on HH menu) I usually hit the 9 pm to close HH which, it's less busy and the patrons who are there are more of the adult and college kid variety and less parents and small children. They have great food as well, covering almost all the bases ranging from your typical bar food (burgers, wings, and other finger foods) to a variety of sandwiches (French dips, pulled pork, etc), and a wide selection of Flatbreads and Mac and cheeses. Drinks menu had a very wide selection and tons of delicious options. What I really love about this particular Hop Jack's is the service. I've yet to have a bad experience with one of the servers or other members of the staff. Great, friendly people. This place is really perfect for after work meet ups with friends or family. My wife and I have patronized Hop Jack's from the day they opened and more often than not, in years past, would eat there at least once a week. My disdain began several years ago as we would often have breakfast there on the weekend but since management insisted on using plastic plates rather than porcelain, we decided to dine elsewhere for weekend breakfasts. Recently we went there for dinner and was absolutely amazed at the high prices for their drinks. Totally out of line for the demographics here and much more comparable to what you would expect to pay in a larger metropolitan market such as Seattle. With those issues aside, we again visited for Happy Hour, the appetizers were great, the service laughable. Specifically, the young lady that was our server was only interested in serving as many people as possible and most remiss in bringing not only ourselves but others their checks. To add insult to injury, the gentleman that wears gray and is perhaps the manager but should not be, spent the majority of his time holding court with 4 or 5 employees at the cash register! Totally frustrated to see what once had been in our opinions a 5 star operation sink to this level. I know that the owners/management could care less about my feelings but it will be most interesting to see how their business will do once Stack 571 opens. read more

Food: 4 stars. We had the potato chip nacho appetizers and my girlfriend had the buffalo wings. Both were excellent! You can get great bargains during happy hour for the appetizers. Their burgers were also delicious. I had the black and bleu burger and my son had the teriyaki burger. My daughter was so impressed with her meal that she was asking if we could come back tomorrow for dinner. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. We live in the Lakeland Hills area and are used to commuting to larger cities for a good meal. I feel this is a great addition to the Lakeland Hills/Lake Tapps area. Service: 5 stars. We've been here 2 times and each time we had a different server. They were each very attentive and informative about the menu. The service was prompt and our glasses were refilled without us even having to ask. Ambience: 4 stars. It's a great family friendly place. The establishment and bathrooms are clean, and they have TV's mounted around the restaurant, which is perfect for the average sports fan. Food is consistently good, but what stands out to me is the service. I was here last week and the waiter was so friendly and kind (I wish I would have written down his name). Great service is hard to come by these days and the whole team delivered. I was here for dinner with family around 5:30 and was happy to see that happy hour was still going even on a Saturday in the normal dining area. I had the fish tacos and my husband had french onion soup with tater tots. Both were good and filling. We were leaving and my nephew (he's 3) accidentally dropped the leftover box with his chicken strips and a few flatbread pieces. He started crying, so I went to give him a hug and then clean up the mess. The staff was so kind and quickly cleaned it up, not letting me help and insisted they get my nephew new chicken strips to go. I was hungry and this place popped up on yelp with 4 stars, so wth. I was greeted and sat in a booth immediately. Everything looked clean and the booth was comfortable. Service was excellent. Thus the 3 star rating. I had the "smoked" rib tips with a Caesar salad. I did ask for a large salad and the server said it would be big. It wasn't. A very moderate amount of lettuce with too much dressing. No croutons. The rib tips were not to good. The only smoke on them was liquid smoke. And too much of that. Meat was tough and chewy. Sauce was meh. You have probably guessed I would advise against ordering them. I did have a large Irish Death beer that was excellent! First review I have ever posted on Yelp and we eat out a lot. Went to Hop Jacks 11/11/17. Place is friendly and very busy and has a nice atmosphere. Wait staff was fine. Now, I am not a picky eater. I will eat basically anything put in front of me. But.....the Rib Tips and fries I ordered for dinner were simply inedible. The fries were really greasy. Reminded me of the times my mother attempted to make homemade french fries 50 years ago. The Rib Tips must have cost Hop Jacks about 14 cents. They appeared to be the scraps picked up off the floor of the butcher. Easily 90% fat and gristle. I tried to carve out the little bit of meat on them since I was really hungry but ended up just pushing the plate to the side of the table. This was no doubt the worst food I have ever been presented in a restaurant. I went home and ate a power bar, apple and bowl of cereal for dinner. read more

The part of our party who arrived first was told they don't take reservations, but confirmed that we were on a wait list and it should be any time. We waited for over 30 min. While waiting the hostesses/waitresses standing at the desk began talking about us, and the conversation on the phone putting our name on the wait list. They then left the desk and stood at a farther point in the restaurant with the manager looking our way, still talking about us. At this point it had been approx 45min since our confirmation text of 15min. And we were no longer comfortable with the service we were apt to get if finally seated. I would highly DISCOURAGE anyone from visiting this location. After calling and speaking with the hostess, letting her know I had a party of ten, she took down all of my information and got me on the wait list. In addition to receiving a text on my phone saying the estimated wait time was 15, I asked the hostess prior to hanging up what the wait time would be and she said about 10 minutes. For myself, it took about 15 minutes to get to the restaurant, and the rest of my party had already been there for a few minutes. They had all been told that they don't take reservations and would get us seated as soon as possible, even though I was told otherwise on the phone. After standing at the hostesses desk for 40 minutes, I experienced numerous displays of terrible customer service by the employees, to include the manager. Such as: listening to two employees at the hostesses desk lie about the conversation had with me on the phone when I originally called, the manager telling a member of my party that he could have "kindly" told us to leave, and having all the staff stand at register across the restaurant pointing and talking about us. After 45 minutes, I walked to the register that which all the employees were still standing and talking about my group, I let them know we would be leaving to enjoy dinner somewhere else. I got told to have a nice day, with no attempts to resolve the situation for the party of 10 I had sitting in the waiting area for the past 45 minutes. We walked a few stores down to the Rock where we were seated in less than 5 minutes and had better than great customer service. If you don't enjoy having employees and a manager point and talk about you when you are a paying customer, I would suggest avoiding this location at all costs. read more

Well when I picked up the food and brought it home- the nacho dish was cold as if it had been sitting and ready for a while. The manager Shelby did an amazing job at recovering the issue. Absolutely great service, my girlfriend and I ate here for lunch. She had the morning burger with a salad and I had the Alaskan cod fish and chips. We both liked our meals and thought they tasted great. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with friendly service staff, they really work hard to make you feel comfortable and that your table is well attended. I have been going here since it opened and have absolutely LOVED it, but recently I have been not as impressed as I usually am. I enjoyed walking in and seeing familiar faces and being able to talk to them like they were family but within the past 6-ish months I walk in and I literally know no one, the tables are filled with teenagers not their normal crowd, it might just be the time that I go in but it is disappointing to walk in and not see employees I recognize, a neighborhood gathering place my ass. Dolly and Chantel are my absolute favorite servers and will politely ask to be sat or move into their section so I can talk to them and they just make the whole atmosphere of the restaurant so much more enjoyable. I will most likely not be returning to this establishment unless I am sure that Chantel or Dolly will be working. read more

Hop Jack's is one of the few restaurants in the Lakeland Hills area. the food is consistently good and the prices are fair. Lots of beer on tap and they have on any game you want to watch. As my family and I approached Hop Jacks on a hot Saturday evening, we were treated like royalty. A server opened the door for us and we were seated immediately- in the storage corner. The table we were at was tiny, barely big enough for five plates and five cups, and our feet were squished by the lack of space. Our server was enthusiastic and quick to offer a gluten free menu to my mother, for which we were grateful. The menus were clear, helpful, and delightfully extensive. It was a rather long wait for the food, but when it came, it was delicious. My Mac and Cheese 410 was cutely presented in a small skillet, and was creamy and hot, served with chewy flatbread pieces. Although I love bread, I was confused by its presence on my plate. The chips in my sister's meal, while crisp and thick, had a distinct lack of salt. Stopped in for lunch over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised at this new (to us) restaurant. I had the BLTA with fries and my husband had a chicken wrap with tots. Both were good. The bacon was crispy, the tomato not soggy, and the avocado fresh. We also ordered the pretzel appetizer, which was crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside- the mustard dip was a little spicy for me, but I prefer a mild mustard to the stone ground that they serve with the pretzel. Hubby liked the beer he ordered, and I thought the lemonade was nice and tart, not overly sweet. Considering the slim number of good restaurant choices in Auburn, we'll definitely be back! The burgers on our neighboring tables looked really good, and we're always looking to try new breakfast spots near our house. read more
