We visited the Red Robin at The Commons in Federal Way today, and I felt compelled to write a review because this experience was the complete opposite of one we had last week at the Auburn location. Last week, my daughter and I ate at the Auburn Red Robin and it was honestly one of the dirtiest, most unpleasant restaurant experiences I've had, which led me to leave a very negative review. Because of that, I was hesitant to visit another Red Robin so soon, but I'm really glad we did. The Federal Way Commons location was extremely clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. Our food came out hot and fresh, and our server (Evan) was friendly, attentive and checked in on us regularly without being intrusive. The overall atmosphere felt calm and cared for, which made a huge difference. This visit restored my faith in the brand. It's clear that management and staff at this location take pride in what they do. Thank you to the Federal Way team for such a positive experience. Also, the reason we visit so many Red Robins is my daughter plays in the Special Olympics and when we have big breaks for lunch, that's her favorite place to go. read more

This used to be the place to go, over the last year I've noticed a decline in quality, the prices have gone up but the size of a burger seems to have decreased greatly. I have celiac and usually have no problem ordering alternatives to get around this and avoid gluten, this time even though the waitress made note and noted to avoid all cross contamination the cook put my burger on a bun that was gluten, when I said something because server said something about the bun being gluten even though the allergy alert flag was in the burger I asked for it to be fixed, she returned immediately with the correct one, however I believe this was because cook or preparation person just moved it all to a gluten free bun, causing cross contamination. By the time I was leaving the place I became nauseous and very bloated! They comped the one burger but this takes me weeks to recover from! Also today we went for my mothers birthday, I mentioned that but even though the waitress was nice she paid less and less attention later in meal and no one brought the birthday ice cream, usually there's some type of complimentary birthday dessert brought in. I also ordered the nacho appetizer and the quality was way down, the chips break when you pick the up and the dip was not that good and got thicker by the minute!! I'm not sure we will return much anymore, the quality and sizes going down along with the fact I was cross contaminated kinda ruined mother's birthday experience and my appetite for Red Robin. I do like Red Robin and this seems to be the type of place that can make a large amount of the people in your party happy. They even have veg and gluten free options. If you are not into burgers there are lots of other options and they have a kids menu too. Prices have definitely increased recently, but with bottomless sides and special deals like the 9.99$ Big Yummmm Burger it still seems like a reasonable meal out. There is also happy hour available from 3-6 pm. Don't forget to sign up for the rewards program, although this is also not as strong as it used to be, but everyone loves a free birthday burger, available to be used the entire month of your birthday. This location has a big parking lot, is close to the freeway entrance and is walking distance from the light rail station. I've eaten here a few times and service is always helpful and friendly. It can be a little bit longer of a wait than some places, but just enjoy some extra fries and go with the flow. It seems like they may be a better dining option for a bigger party than some other places. Just be vocal about your need for more fries, extra sauce and drink refills. They also do a good job of keeping track of substitutions. There is so much good food in this area, but if you need a reliable place to add to your freeway stop offs, this may be your regular stop off. read more

We arrived close to opening and there were quite a bit of cars in the parking lot as well as tables inside filled with parties of all sizes. It was definitely busy but the employees were on it and were able to get everyone seated and our server, Erica was very sweet. She definitely seemed like she was overwhelmed and it looked like she was the only real server with a male employee helping deliver foods. We were able to get our order in a little bit after we got seated. I also asked Erica if I could get a birthday sundae without the song and she was happy to accommodate that. Plus someone else had a birthday so if I got to hear the song anyways which was nice as they changed it up since I last heard it as a child. My partner got the A.1. Steakhouse Burger and I got the Scorpion Burger. We found out that you can buy the fries seasoning that they have which is neat as online it says they don't offer it but I'll have to consider as it is a must have for their steak fries. It take some time for food to arrive but it was a busy start for them as they were busy since they opened. We asked for some pink and the cooks nailed it. The fries were great too and we were able to get a couple refills before we had to call it quits. The campfire and honey mustard poppyseed are my favorite sauces for the fries here. Whose kids don't love Red Robin?! I grew up coming here for birthday parties and family dinners now I come with my son who absolutely LOVES Red Robin. We stopped here after visiting Wild Waves and our service was good, our waiter kept the fries coming and even gave us an extra plate for two of us to share a burger. Happily even provided us a root beer float to go on our way out since we got bottomless. Red Robin is a large chain restaurant so we set our expectations for service appropriately and as long as our waiter is attentive to our request it's always a good time with solid food. I love Red Robin, my kids love it, my parents love it. To us, Red Robin is American culture. We visit Red Robin often, it's a staple for us. Through the years things have changed. They used to only have the mudslide for desert and now they have cake options and donuts! I mean...it's a go-to "I'm hungry and want something good/decent". They are never a fail. If I posted all of my Red Robin pictures, it would easily exceed 30+. Every time I ask the kids where they want to eat "RED ROBIN MOM!" lol!! I always have great service at this location, they keep our fries coming and have no issue giving us all the sauces we ask for. I'm sure all of the staff know my son lol! He's so loud! And talkative and they just let him be him and I love it! Appreciate it so much. Our kids grab balloons every single time and the employees are always kind and helpful. I would say that the Mac and cheese was way better back in the day. It's super basic now but my kids love it and always order it with their kids meal. I ordered the garlic broccoli for the first time 2 weeks ago and it was way better than I expected. It's also bottomless! So way to go with that. I'm going to order it every time now that I've had it. This particular visit we ordered the chips with salsa and guac, a cheeseburger kids meal, the monster burger, a side of sweet potato fries, side of broccoli, and two cocktails. The worse thing were the cocktails. We are sure they had no liquor. And if they did, it was a splash. And I hate that. Alcohol is so strong that you can certainly taste a half oz in your drink. The restaurant is clean and thoughtfully laid out with no tight walkways to negotiate, our server, Padmé, was attentive without rushing me for a bill, and the food actually came out clean and HOT! It was a really nice day so we requested to sit outside as we saw others had sat outside as well and the host was super friendly and accommodating. The interior looks really nice and modern. They even have a photo booth that I unfortunately didn't get to try lol. Our server, I think her name was Padmé, was excellent. Best customer service I've received from Red Robin. Very kind and helpful. Super patient when my friend's birthday reward wasn't working. Each time we requested something, she'd be super fast getting it for us even though she had lots of tables. If you have to go to Red Robin, I recommend getting their Tavern burgers. I now have tried the Red Double and Haystack Double and both were excellent. They are very reasonably priced as well. Prices seem to vary by location but they range from 9 to 13 dollars (as compared to 15 dollars and up for their regular burger menu items) and they come with bottomless fries. Portions aren't small at all. This particular location had very good service. Our server talked to my kids and we were very well treated. The biggest issue I have though is the cleanliness of the place. Our table was very sticky and the place overall did not look very well maintained. I guess I have to be a bit more understanding since this place is mainly to host families with little kids, but yeah just noting this. A server is assigned to you but if you prefer, they have a little mobile device that you can use to order food and pay. I think Red Robin has been using something like this for a while now. Again though, this device was pretty filthy and I washed my hands right after using it. So yeah! Go try the Tavern burgers if you haven't. I recommend the Haystack Double. Red Robin is one of those places that I used to love in high school/college (so 20 years ago), and it has just slid downhill. The menu was drastically cut back after the pandemic, most of the food is just so-so, and the staff seem to rotate out a lot. The only reason we go is because my kid loves it for some reason. My feelings would warrant 2 stars. It gets another for moving to the old Federal Way Ram building. The old restaurant location was disgusting in terms of cleanliness: ground in food and spilled drinks on the floor, crumbs on the seats and ledges. My young adult child, who observes a gluten-free and low histamine diet due to life-long sensitivities, and I visited this restaurant this afternoon for lunch. I do not have food allergies, and ordered a gourmet Red Robin burger. The other half of the order was for a Red Robin burger, with NO cheese, NO pickles and NO onions, on a gluten-free bun. When our food was brought to the table, the waiter's assistant called out my burger, and I identified that it was my order. The assistant did not call-out anything about the other burger, and placed it on the table. Both of us were very hungry, and I began eating. Normally I would have glanced at the other plate for any discrepancies, but this time I did not. After a few minutes, my lunch companion stated that they didn't believe that the burger bun was gluten-free based on the texture of the bread. With that, I looked at the bun, and also noticed that onions and pickles were on the plate, and had to be removed from the burger before eating. Sometimes a restaurant will change the supplier for different products, such as the buns. For this reason, we felt it necessary to confirm whether or not the bun was gluten-free. It was not. Concerns were voiced to the waiter regarding our disappointment with this oversight, especially because Red Robin stresses that they "take food allergies seriously". The waiter sent the manager to our table, and our frustration with the situation only increased. The manager gave the scripted "I am sorry that happened" response, but the flat voice and facial expression told the truth. In this day, with so many people dealing with food allergies and sensitivities, I would expect that restaurant employees would be educated regarding the dangers. I explained to the manager that there has not been an anaphylactic reaction related to the gluten issue YET, but how would it be if 911 had to be called to the restaurant as a result of this mistake. Gone are the days of going out to eat and trusting the safety of the food brought to the table. Normally, food is checked for accuracy of the order before we begin eating. We got comfortable, we were hungry and we trusted the fact that Red Robin states "we take food allergies seriously". I am primarily writing this review for people with food allergies and sensitivities who are traveling through this area. read more

I met some friends for dinner - I was early and the waiter was attentive and kind. My Diet Coke in particular was always refilled in superb timing and I had all the sauces I could possibly want. Had an outstanding experience here yesterday. My wife, granddaughter, and I went the Red Robin in Federal Way, WA yesterday for lunch. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. As soon as we were seated our waitress appeared and took our drink and appetizer order. I ordered a new dish called Tsunami Shrimp. It came with onion rings and garlic broccoli. The onion rings were nicely done. The garlic broccoli was excellent and I plan on having that again. The Tsunami shrimp was outstanding. The shrimp size was small, but there were plenty of them, so much so that I ended up bringing some back to the hotel. It's difficult to say what the sauce on them tasted like, only to say that it was outstanding. While we ate, the manager, Don, came by our table to ask how our meals were. He seemed genuinely interested and wasn't at all intrusive. Excellent management. I wish I could remember the waitress' name - she was great. I remember she had red hair. It's my time to place a curbside order. I got an email at 7:19 PM saying it would be ready at 7:33 pm. When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant there was barely any parking space for the curbside customers to park. Luckily we found a spot and pulled in. We sat in the car for a short while and decided to call the phone number on the curbside pickup sign. A gal pick up my call, and she asked for the name and curbside number. I gave it to her. She said we just got the order, and when it's ready we'll take it out. I replied, "thanks, we'll sit back and relax." This conversation was around 7:27 PM. I gave another call at 7:50 PM, the phone rang then it went to voice mail. Rerouted to the system, and finally back to someone picking up the phone after a couple of tries. A gal picked up the phone. I asked about my order -- just want status. She said it's almost ready and that she'll bring it out right after taking care of a customer in there. Sounds like it's super busy Wednesday night. My food must have been ready but forgotten. Around 7:55 PM my food arrived. I thanked the server and took off. Based on this curbside experience, I probably would not order it anymore. But, would rather dine in. Here are the reasons: 1). App/ email "ready" time is inaccurate vs. what the server tells you. 2). Automated TIP is 20% for orders to go. No way to opt-out of it. 3). The curbside parking spaces are parked by those that dine in. I observed and saw what I needed to see (photos). 4). For the same amount of tips, by dining in the waiter serve you and you get endless fries. 5). No catch-up or dipping sauce for the onion rings. That's my two cents anyway for this curbside visit.
