I get takeout from Joe's almost every Tuesday when I am in the office nearby. The staff here are all friendly and the food is really good. They offer regular deli sandwiches, soups, and other items like chili. If I had to sum up my review in one line: They do basics, but they do them really well. For example, I'm always amazed that when I get a BLT, the bread is toasted, the bacon is crunchy, the lettuce is crisp, and the tomatoes are fresh. The wrap was made with lettuce, tomato, fresh green peppers, avocado and some shredded carrots. Taking the first bite sold me! Moving on because I know the real thing you're interested in is the food and what they have. I will do as much of a breakdown as I can for you. First things first. I'm going to put this at the top because I absolutely do not want to forget it. They make homemade tartar sauce. If you go here I absolutely 100% want you to order this. RIDICULOUS! Honestly, they could bottle this and sell it!! Moving on... They have the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. The usual selection. Of course they taste homemade and not like the processed stuff you get from fast food that you can tell is frozen and mass produced. Huge on flavor. They also serve a wide variety of both cold and warm sandwiches. Of course they have hamburgers and french fries as well. I was going to put what my favorites were but there are so many. The tuna is insane. The egg salad sandwich is also very very good. They have a turkey gobbler as well that is really really good. I'm not a fan but one of my friends says the Reuben is one of the best that she's ever had. One of my employees does not like tuna but when she had one from here she was converted. She now gets cravings for them. They have several different types of pasta and potato salad. They also offer a wide selection of green salads. I've had all of the pastas and while I'm not a big fan of eating pasta often, when I do it's usually from here. The potato salad was good a little bit on the sweet side. The salad is fresh and they have a salad bar so if you want more of something they're always super willing to do it. I ordered the taco salad once and could not finish it because it was so big. If you get the taco salad it might be something you want to share with someone. For some, the true stars of this place are their homemade soups and their dessert that are homemade daily as well. The soups....out-of-this-world!! They have two choices a day on soup. Monday I get the corn chowder, Thursday I get the bean soup, and Friday I get the regular clam chowder. I always go in with the intent of just getting one of the soups but always have to get half of a sandwich with it as well because the ssndwiches are so good too. And it's only 6:50 for half a sandwich and a cup of soup. Some of the homemade things that they make for dessert are Rice Krispie treats, magic bars, homemade carrot cake, brownies, a wide selection of cookies, and I can't think of what else. They also have healthy selections that are Grab & Go. They have a fruit cup that is filled to the brim with kiwi, oranges, watermelon, grapes, melon and several other things. Sometimes they have apples in them sometimes they don't. I was a little hesitant on getting it because I never have a good experience when I get grab-and-go fruit. I got one when I had lunch meeting. It was wonderful. I get them often now because I know that they're super picky about the fruit. The only thing that is a drawback from this place is that they close at 4:30 everyday. I lived in Federal for 20 years.. I've eaten everyplace in town and quite a few places that have gone out of business.. Is Joe's Deli the best place at any price in a five mile radius? No... Is the worst? Not by a long shot... What Joe's is is a nice, clean little cafe where you can get some tasty breakfast or lunch and a good cup of coffee at a very reasonable price.. I've eaten there a few times. Most recently I got a really decent Denver Omelet stuffed full of ham, onions,cheese & peppers, fried potatoes and a coffee for less than $10.. That's a couple bucks less than the same at the chain restaurants... Yeah, you order at the counter and carry your own food to the table.. That works for me.. Add that it's centrally located but not on the main strip (like Denny's or BBear) so it never seems to be real busy.. and that often translates to a little quicker service or a seat when everyplace else is full. I have nothing bad to say about Joe's. I've had nothing but good food and good service there. I look forward to eating there again when I'm in the area. read more
