Hop Jacks is a great place to go with a good atmosphere. They typically have good service, good food, and good drinks. The ambiance in the bar is spot on for a neighborhood watering hole. The only thing that really pisses me off about this place.......You CANNOT get Tomato Soup with ANY of the craft grilled cheese sandwich entrees they offer. It literally has kept me from selecting them as a date night option because I was in the mood for grilled cheese. We go down to Crockett's in Puyallup instead. I wish they would fix this issue, I would eat there more often if they did. read more

First and only time I will visit Hop Jacks. I went with a group of 4 people. 3 out of 4 meals were horrible, and the 4th was just decent. The service was good but I can never eat there again. The chicken was over cooked, the soup (one and only soup they have) was extra salty & tacos were BLAH. The pasta was decent. One of my favorite local places to eat, whether it's taking the family out or just for drinks this place always has you covered! Never usually a big wait if they are even busy, Staff is always smiley and willing to help you out, food is always good and if they mess up they are more than willing to take it back and even take it off your bill which is a mega bonus compared to most places! I would even recommend calling in and ordering take out there food is never a bad choices and they have plenty of options for everyone! Drinks are ice cold and always better than the last one! Eh... it's okay. I would put it on-par with Red Robin, Applebee's, or another large corporate chain "casual dining" place that serves beer and burgers. One individual in my party complained that her dish was WAY too salty - and her family generally eats pretty salty food in my opinion. We had a large party and they squeezed us into a booth instead of pushing together two tables, of which many were available. This seems lazy. My food was average tasting, certainly not worth the price. Beer selection is decent (maybe 10 varieties), but not as extensive as I would expect for a place that calls itself "Hop Jacks". Cooks were able to cook one meal to-order to accommodate a doctor's-orders dietary restriction. It's nice to have one more dining option in the area, but I don't plan on returning. read more

This was the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant before. We made reservations for a party of 10 and at no time did the girl on the phone state they don't take reservations and instead said to my daughter that she'd let her manager know we were coming. My daughter even received a text message stating the reservation and how we'd be seated in 10-15 minutes, can produce if anyone wants to see it. After waiting 25 minutes, we are seated right next to where the hostess stand and they began to talk about our phone call and the one girl used us as a training exercise for the other workers. Then when the noticed we could hear them, they walked down the aisle further and it was obvious they continued to talk about us due to they were all looking our way. And to my surprise, the manager even took part in conversation smirking at times. I hope the owners of the establishment don't condone this type of behavior, as a state worker, we frequent quite a bit. But not after today, we went to the Rock and received wonderful service. Arrived with my family, party of 6. Having food allergies, I am very careful to make sure that I review every piece of a meal I am going to order, and verify with the server to ensure that my food will not make me sick. My cousin asked for a special request they were pretty rude about being unable to fill, and my aunt asked for a couple modifications that they didn't deliver on as well. I ordered the carnitas flatbread with no cheese. Simple enough, right? I got a cheese quesadilla. So most of my family was happily eating, except my aunt who didn't receive her order correct either, but I am still waiting over 20 minutes and nothing. Finally the manager comes by and there is cheese literally soaked all over everything and I can't even eat it or I will get sick. My family is done eating, and the manager who delivered it just walked away with the plate and didn't even say a word. Then Meredith, our server, comes by to let me know it's all her fault. Yes, Meredith, I know it's your fault. You had one job. And still charged me full price for everything. Trust me it is not worth the hassle. Incredibly frustrated. Husband and I popped in just before Christmas for something hot to drink as it was oh so cold outside. To our surprise NO hot specialty drinks either seasonal or not. Our waitress sheepishly quickly thought of hot coffee and Baileys. We were floored when the 2 drinks were more expensive that our meal! This is a great little community restaurant located at Lake Tapps Parkway. We like to eat there a couple times a month and we are never disappointed with our food or drinks. Best of the big restaurants in the Lakeland area hands down. We have been SO disappointed since moving to the community and trying Puerto Vallarta (YUCK) the Rock (hit or miss.. The last visit was the slowest of all time.) last night we decided to try out this, and were so pleasantly surprised! We came in with our toddler during the Happy Hour/Friday night rush.. We were seated right away, and although the place was packed, the service was outstanding.. We were checked on throughout our time there, our food came out quickly and hot, with flavor! Today I had the nerve to being my hungry & tired 5 year old in for lunch because I wanted a good meal (and sometimes it is about ME). He gave everyone attitude and even melted down on the waitress, Jerri, who handled him like a pro (and a mom). She brought him a fruit bowl & some oyster crackers and he was instantly transformed. We have been to Hop Jacks multiple times. So far, we haven't found a single thing we didn't absolutely love! Everything from their French onion soup to burgers are delicious! The homemade chips dipped in sour cream are a family favorite! The service is always fast and friendly, and they are able to accommodate larger parties of 8-10 in their booths that allow the divider screen to be lowered. We came here for burgers the first time and were so glad to have "better than red robin" burgers!! The staff is always nice!! My menu item of choice would be any burger!! I've also had the following: "Shrimp and chips"- which is actually suppose to be fries... But came with actual chips. I get its suppose to be a "puny" play on words like "fish and chips"... But the name makes it confusing for staff it seems. I didn't complain because it seemed to be an honest mistake and the server seemed new. They were really kind and, to me, a lot of the time that makes the dining experience worth it. The shrimp are delicious, I alway order tauter sauce with them, and all is right with the world. A salad, i think it was called a southwest salad. I was honestly let down by this one. It had avocado (barely) and the best part was the bread. I resolved to stick to the delicious burgers, but next time I ordered the... Southwest Mac and cheese- it was pretty good, but I'd order something other than the tortilla chips that come with it on the side. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich once and it was so tender and Juicy! I'd say it was on par with the burgers, so either is a great option! YOU HAVE TO TRY EVERY FLAVOR LEMONADE!! By far the best service, and food in Lakeland. We are never disappointed, or hungry when we leave. The wait staff is outstanding, and never makes us feel rushed, or that we are an inconvenience to them. The managers always greet us at some point during our meal and ask how everything is. We are always greeted by someone opening the door for us, and two more smiling faces at the hostess station. It's a great family restaurant, and we love the atmosphere. Went here for a date night with the hubs. Great place! Love the atmosphere and the food. It was kind of like red robin type of atmosphere but the prices were a tad bit higher than red robs. I had the meatloaf burger with tots and it was so good. I loved how the tots were not super greasy. We also had the tempura shrimp which was really good as well. The staff was very nice and pleasant. This place is great. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The veggie burger was very flavorful and moist. Other places often serve very dry black bean burgers. I ordered the potatoe chips by mistake last time and was very pleasantly surprised. I love the icy drops as well. My only complaint is just how full I am because the food was so good I ate way too much of it. One of these days I'll try their breakfast as well. read more
