We love Hops on Birch! I've seen this place mentioned a few times on my dog friendly groups and glad we stopped by. They are dog friendly and Bailey was allowed inside! Also thankful for that because it was so hot outside and I was able to have some beers and my dog with me! They had open night mic on the day we went and they have other events on different days also! Their happy hour can't be beat! Def will be back when we're visiting! Bailey saids 5 stars

Lots of fun beer and unique choices on tap and in cans. Friendly service, cool vibe, and overall a great place to pop in for a drink or three when you're in the area.

    Super dog-friendly! :D

What a dog-FRIENDLY beer pub! We were stopping by in Flagstaff, before heading back to our home in Las Vegas. And we had our 25-pound dog with us. We always travel with our precious dog, even on airplanes, inside the cabin. I was so excited to announce to my hubby (who is often skeptical) that I found a dog-friendly brewery. To my own surprise, dogs are even allowed inside the brew pub. Now that is exceptional! This review is a month behind, so I cannot recall the beer we tried, BUT one was IPA & the other was wheat beer, both of which were tasty! The bar manager & female bartender (Kate) were very nice & sociable too.

Enjoyed our time at Hops on Birch! The place had a cozy, comfortable, almost dive bar feel (but not grimy like a dive bar). We sat up at the bar and received friendly & fast service while enjoying many of the great beers on tap. They also offer a fridge of beers to go; we were happy with the selection of beers to take home.

Visited Hops for the first time in MANY years and it was just OK. The bartender poured the wrong beer so in turn overcharged me. I had to correct him and he had to adjust my price. I honestly didn't feel very welcomed here and there wasn't many people there so I couldn't blame it on being busy..I don't think I'll be back sadly.

Was visiting Flagstaff for a few days for a little get away from the Phoenix heat. Took our dog with us to join in on the adventures. It is very difficult to find a place that will let your dog inside in the building and not be limited to the patio. Hops on Birch is entirely dog friendly so it was a great spot for us to hang for a little bit. Bonus was they were carrying a draft of one of our favorite beers from OKC. Was surprised to see it on draft as it is not a usual draft beer. Will be coming back for more pours in the future!

Good beer selection & dart board. Bartender was nice & gave good suggestions. Cool vibe & at center of downtown flagstaff

Super cozy bar. Makes you feel like you're in the mountains and it has the tavern feeling. Haha We came here after a day of snowboarding at Snowbowl. Parking lot on the street, might be difficult depending on the time. Have to pay for parking on the street, unless you find a strip of no meters, which there is one about a 4 minute walk. There was only one bartender inside working at a time we came. He was disappearing in and out of the kitchen or something I believe. Either way, it was hard to get ahold of the bartender. Not very attentive. But friendly and helpful once you get ahold of the bartender. Really like the feel of The Rustic Tavern feeling inside. They are also pet friendly, as there were two dogs inside. They have real good selection of beer and draft. Love the beer that I got, see picture as posted. Prices aren't too expensive. My beer was maybe around $5. Would recommend coming to check this place out. Also located near other stuff in the downtown part of Flagstaff.

Hops on Birch, recently remodeled, is a great, pet friendly, local hangout. They have plenty of local beers on tap, as well as a fridge filled with cans and bottles and wines. Sit with friends and relax, or play darts, or sit outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air on their mini patio that sits right on Birch Avenue. Weekends are especially busy with music, creating an intimate musical experience as the space is somewhat small- but I like the atmosphere. The bartenders that I've encountered are friendly and generally very knowledgeable to assist with your beverage choice. My favorite spot are the barstools facing the street so you can people watch while enjoying your drink. Give it a try!

Hops On Birch is an awesome bar to catch some unique and local favorites from Flagstaff/Arizona. There aren't a ton of bars in town that keep up with rotating out taps and always having some fresh flavors to try out. Personally, this is one of my go to places to try something new, but also a place that I know I can find a brew that I will enjoy. The only thing that I wish was a little improved here is the events. On the weekends you're bound to have a local musician playing away on their little front end stage which is cool. But I wish that the bar itself had some more creative events to offer. At one point, they were going to host a beer pong tournament, but cancelled a few days before because not enough people signed up which was a bummer. SERVICE: The service here has always been great. The bartenders are always super friendly and welcoming to everyone which is one of the numerous reasons that this place is so awesome. On top of that, the staff is great with offering suggestions or tastes to see what you might enjoy from their list of taps. OVERALL: I really love Hops On Birch for their reliable variety in brews and friendly service. I highly recommend them to anyone local or people passing through. This bar is a great place to try in Flagstaff!

The restaurant itself was clean and had a stylish modern-meets-vintage vibe that made the atmosphere feel both cozy and upscale. Their cocktail menu was especially unique. I ordered the Vendetta Ride, and it was easily one of my favorite drinks of the night: light, slightly sweet, and finished with just the right kick. I absolutely loved it. The menu features creative contemporary American cuisine with an emphasis on sharing plates, which made the experience even more fun. We ordered two appetizers, two mains, and a dessert, and overall everything was excellent. My only critique would be the Duck Taquitos. The duck flavor was not there, and the mesquite mole sauce leaned too sweet for my taste. Aside from that, every dish impressed us. Overall, it was a fantastic meal and a great dining experience. I would highly recommend this spot if you're in Flagstaff!

Hospitality matters to me just as much as what's on the plate because great restaurants don't just serve meals; they create memories. Unfortunately, Shift became one I'll never forget for the wrong reasons. Our day couldn't have been further from what the staff assumed. We spent the morning hiking, went back to rest, explored a local bookstore, grabbed ice cream, and walked to our dinner reservation. Not one alcoholic drink had been consumed by anyone in our group the entire day. Not one. We also had a child with us. The only conversation we had with the host before being seated was asking whether it was okay that we had arrived about twenty minutes early for our reservation. We were polite, excited, and looking forward to dinner. Then my husband ordered a beer. The waitress immediately refused because she claimed the hostess believed my husbands speech and mannerisms meant he was intoxicated. Read that again. A guest who had consumed zero alcohol all day was judged to be intoxicated. I understand the responsibility restaurants have. If someone is genuinely impaired, absolutely don't serve them. Every responsible restaurant should protect its guests and its liquor license. But there is an equally important responsibility that seems to have been forgotten: making sure your judgment is actually right before labeling someone. There was no bar crawl. No cocktails beforehand. No wine tasting. No brewery stop. No hidden drinks. There wasn't even one drink. We left feeling embarrassed, confused, and honestly caught off guard. Not because a beer was refused, but because a person was reduced to an assumption based solely on how they naturally presented themselves. Here's what makes the experience even harder to understand. After leaving Shift, we walked to Atria, where we remained for approximately two hours. We talked, enjoyed ourselves, and spent the evening there without issue. If someone in our party had truly been intoxicated wouldn't that have been obvious there as well? It wasn't. Food can be good. Cocktails can be creative. Service can be polished. None of that matters if hospitality disappears the moment someone doesn't fit your expectation of what a guest "should" look or sound like. Maybe perhaps because we weren't locals we seemed off ? To anyone considering Shift, especially if you're traveling with someone whose speech, mannerisms, or disability could be misunderstood, know that this was our experience. I hope the restaurant reflects on what happened and asks itself a difficult question: How many guests have we mistaken for being intoxicated when, in reality, they simply communicated differently? Because that's not just a missed beer. That's a missed opportunity to treat someone with dignity. I came to Flagstaff excited to discover one of its most " creative" restaurants. Instead, I left wondering how quickly a restaurant built on hospitality could make a guest feel so unwelcome. Simply , because my husband is a restaurant manager in Las Vegas, who has managed restaurants like Yellowtail, Herbs&Rye, Gjelina, and Edo we left out of respect for the industry. However, we should have got our deposit automatically refunded. Next time, take the time. Take the time to care. If a staff member is under this assumption, management intervene not to just follow said assumption and repeat what she said, but to hold an actual conversation with your guest, to evaluate , to observe, to understand. I promise you, that would change so many things for you.

We started with the green apple/brie and fig balsamic on a baguette. This was a great idea but the execution needs improvement. The bread seemed a bit stale. It should have been toasted for crunch and texture as well as adding flavor and interest. The salmon on creamy orzo was perfectly cooked and my wife enjoyed it. I had the chicken parm. It was a generous serving over spaghetti. On the positive side the thinly pounded breast was nicely fried- not heavy at all. There was minimal sauce on the chicken and on the spaghetti leading it to be quite under- flavored, as a local guide and others have stated. Overall, I think the restaurant has great promise.
