I've been here twice. Seems cool vibe and always a lively group of clientele. A good local hangout. Last visit I met some cool people working in Grand Canyon with funny stories. And tonite a group of Italians passing thru on a motorcycle trip to Las Vegas and of course cruising Route 66. Dogs hang here too which is nice. Stumbled across this bar this past Saturday while on a little weekend getaway in Flag. We were drawn in by the lively atmosphere and stayed for the fantastic beer & cider selection. They have several coolers filled with beer, cider, and wine; all of which can either be enjoyed onsite or to-go. Bartenders were very friendly as well as fellow patrons. If I could give zero stars I would. My cousin showed his valid Hawaii state ID, but the woman checking it said it looked fake and compared it to "McLovin." He was born and raised in Hawaii, and the ID was completely real. She refused to give it back, so we had to call the police. They scanned the ID and confirmed it was valid. Even after that, she still told us to leave and was so disrespectful. The lady was nuts and should be trained on how to treat customers respectfully and also know how to spot real vs fake ids. read more

Just walked in here unexpectedly on a Saturday night. Pretty chill vibes as it's a convenience store along with a bar area. Love the concept!!! My boyfriend and I had the Grand Canyon Amber Ale. Although I didn't finish my drink, it was still tasty and only $4.50 for a 16 oz. They also sell coffee but I didn't try the coffee or anything else. We did purchase some snacks for the road though. I don't often leave reviews but this terrible experience and service has prompted me to leave one. The woman working tonight was blonde and delivered terrible service. It was myself and 3 other friends who came in around 9. The woman was very cold and unhelpful and made sure to tell us the bar closed at 10pm. The group spent collectively $60. I bought a bottle of wine and mentioned I would like to keep it in the freezer until we left as one of our group members finished their drink and the woman said "well I'm closing now and locking the front door so you can walk through the back door." She literally kicked us out with the excuse that she had a young child at home. Children are great, but, if they interfere with your job responsibilities, then you should reorganize your priorities. This was not the case where we overstayed way past closing, the bar hadn't even closed yet. As people from out of town, this was the only horrible experience we had this entire week. We will never visit this place again. This is a glorified convenient store with terrible service, go somewhere else. read more

This place is a gem. A true local hangout with an astonishing selection of beers, and other drinks. We wandered in, early Saturday, had a quad latte... one of the best coffee drinks in flagstaff. The coffee was so big, they served it in a pint glass! The locals are amazing. We bellied up to the bar, and started talking to a couple guys about the 70 mile bike ride around Morman lake. Apparently this is the start and end point for the ride! The lady behind the bar gave us some great hiking tips... I love this place... It was around noon on a Wednesday. Bjork played on the speakers. Only a few people sat at the bar. A woman sat at her laptop, wearing hoop earrings and a flower-printed blouse. Three other men hung out. Two were already drinking beer, but quietly, to themselves, looking completely untroubled. The other guy was drinking a soda. I found a stool at the bar and looked around. There was a convenient store section at the corner to the right of the door, with the necessary supplies: socks, licorice, lights, zigzag papers, energy drink and candy bars. *An ATM machine sat beside it because this bar only takes cash. There' was a long aisle of single drinks equipped with all the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks invented in the 21st century. With breakfast burritos made locally. Overall, I liked it here. It was cozy. Personal. I ordered a coffee. Was given a big mug filled with dark liquid, room for cream, and a big metal jug containing the cream. I felt really situated, sipping my hot coffee slowly, as I tried to wake up, on this particularly cloudy day. I saw menu up front reeling a list of special beers. Happy Hour was from 4 - 7 daily. All drafts: $3.00. The Mexican selection: Always $3.00. I recalled being here on the weekends. This place would always be jam-packed, as layers of people would be surrounding the L-shaped bar of ten stools, but the bartenders would always find a way to keep everyone happy. I got saki on one awesome night here with a friend, and we trotted to the Orpheum across the street to attend a film festival. That was a good night. Someone in our group recognized this place when we walked by because he's cycled with the owner (or someone affiliated with this place) so we had to stop in for a drink. I really liked it (and the concept)! Basically it's a convenient store with a heavy focus on alcohol & coffee. They have several bottled beers & maybe about 10ish beers on tap (I'm guessing they rotate). They also have wine on tap & bottles. I had beer, but from what I can tell the only way to do wine by the glass was the tap (for the record, two of the people I was with had the Chardonnay that was on tap and said it was the best tap Chardonnay they've ever had). There's a bar to sit at with a TV and a small patio. While we were there I believe there was only one person working, but it wasn't very busy. Seemingly a cool concept but it sure wasn't working yesterday. I had a few minutes and wanted a beer. I waited at the bar while the bartender and some other worker screwed with the satellite tv remote trying to find a certain soccer game. It was moderately busy but I was completely, totally ignored for 12 minutes. They never looked at me or allowed any eye contact. About halfway through my wait, I walked down and stood closer to them with a "please take my money" demeanor. It didn't work. I love this little hole in the wall. They have a killer selection of beer and places to sit inside and out. One of my most favorite things to do is grab a beer from the tap and sit on the little patio in the evening and listen to the music emitting from the Orpheum Theater. The bartenders are super friendly and have TVs to watch some games while you chat you a local. This is a great place to stop after a hard day on the mountain. Fun local hang out. This little bar/convenience store is very unique. One of the best beer selections in town and they usually have four on tap. You can buy buy and take it out or drink there. They also have a few food items like chips, locally made burritos (heat in the microwave) and hot dogs. I've had mixed experience with the bartenders: mast are very nice and friendly but a few are straight up A-holes. They have a great happy hour with $2.50 beers. Pay-N-Take is amazing. The outdoor seating area is awesome for us smokers and people watchers, the beer is always great, and the selection is amazing. You can bring your dog to the outdoor area which is super cool and people are always friendly. Don't show up in your club gear though. The atmosphere is relaxed and the patrons like to keep it that way, you definitely get some funny looks if you are all dolled up. Very jeans and tee shirt kinda place. read more

Incredible. The pay and take is something that I believe more towns should have, mixing the convenience store with a bar. Huge selection of beers, and at first glance, you may think they are expensive, but really, $8 for a six pack is much better than paying 3-4 a bottle elsewhere. Also, this is an excellent bar to go hang at before a show at the Orpheum, however, seeing that the venue is closing, I will greatly miss the days of going to the Pay-And -Take before a show. Also also, their tap beers are usually excellent, and they even carry some of the local brew as well. All and all, this is an excellent place to go. You can't go wrong with the Pay & Take. read more

Be careful! Had a derogatory statement said to me by the bartender. I told him to piss off, walked outside and sat down on the patio with my friends. Bartender came out and slapped the beer out of all of our hands, soaking the table next to us also, and said we were not welcome. This occurred 11 years ago, when I first moved to Flag and I still...will never step foot in that place again. Watch out.
