They started up their truck shortly after the 2023 tragedy in Lahaina and have only raised their prices $1 in three years. Very ono given there is still so much suffering and loss in Lahaina. I overheard one patron explaining his monthly rent in Lahaina is over $2700. Zoiks!! Wonderful selection of freshly made Mexican food, things I've never tried or heard of as a Canadian, and certainly things I have never had fresh homemade like gorditas. And most items are under $7, just WOW. LOVED the gordita, chicharron only on offer but still, so good! $5.50, perfect size little lunch for a normal adult appetite. Tried the chicken sopes too, lovely fresh sopes, generously topped although the chicken could use more flavour. No worries though, the homemade salsa was spicy delicious. We took the rest of it home to use later instead of tossing it. We also tried the elotes, which is beautifully presented but lacking in cotija. They use mayo to coat, tasted sweet like Kewpies, not really my thing as I dislike mayo and sweet creamy sauces. At $6.75 each, not really worth it. The food truck also has a cute theme. The owners grew up watching a Mexican kids' show called "El Chapulin Colorado" (the Crimson Grasshopper), and have used the theme throughout, including old toys from the 1970s. I had no idea the broader cultural influence this show had, including inspiring the Simpsons character "Bumblebee Man" and undoubtedly other goofy bug superheroes like "The Tick". Let me start off by saying to call ahead and order your food because we waited 30 minutes for a burrito, 2 tacos and a sope! So being from Los Angeles, the carne asada burrito was just okay. I was born in Long Beach, CA and lived there for 27 years, so I was spoiled with great Mexican food. I always crave bean & cheese burritos, so since moving to Maui, I've been on the hunt to find my favorite. 808 Antojitos was my 1st stop. Unfortunately, I'm going to keep looking. The beans just weren't right for me and fell a little flat. Maybe they needed to have more lard or seasoning in general. The tacos weren't bad. The carne asada tasted great but was a little dry. The al pastor was moist, but a little sweet for me. I'd come back to try new things. I gave it 4/5 stars because while I've had better in SoCal, it's pretty good for Maui. If I can't find another go-to Mexican place on the island, I wouldn't be too upset to return here. The man I dealt with was very nice, attentive, and helpful. The burritos were tasty but did not have enough meat. Lettuce inside the burritos was not something I was used to either. The service was quick. Ambiance was dark at night. Pretty solid overall. We were getting our nails done at the lahaina cannery and luckily, 808 Antojitos was right outside. We had some time to kill and were hungry for a snack so we went to check it out. They weren't too busy during the weekday late lunch hour, but there were some folks sitting outside and enjoying their food at the tables. Ordering + waiting for the food was super quick. We were able to get everything done in probably 10 minutes max. We sat at one of the tables in the parking lot to enjoy the nice fresh air. I got 2 chicken tacos. This taco truck in Maui has to be the best food we've had on our entire one week vacation, April, 2025. We had a lot of resort food, restaurants, but this Mexican spot is definitely the best! We went around 5pm on a Monday and there wasn't anyone in line or eating. We ordered fish tacos, chicken tacos, al pastor tacos, and a birria taco (special menu item). Hands down the birria taco was my favorite. We also got a gansito (Mexican dessert treat), Arizona tea, and water. The total cost was less than we've paid for a meal for our family this entire trip! Definitely recommend and I would return. Family owned and operated and very friendly. While eating, more customers came. 808 was recommended by Dee's Poi Mochi as great food truck fare in Lahaina. Our experience is that some of it is solid and some less than expected. We tried their fish, carne asada, and Al pastor tacos. Here the fish was the most flavorful, partly due to flavoring on fish and also the generous sauce on top (see second pic). Al pastor taco solid, though a bit drier than what I usually think of Al pastor tacos. Carne asada taco was underwhelming. Would get fish again and try other items. A taco plat comes with rice and beans, and the dirty rice was strong flavor while beans with cheese on top was expectedly bland. Loved their al pastor tacos and fish tacos. While I was ordering, he made sure to ask good questions to ensure the food I was getting would be made exactly how I wanted it. I'm picky, so I ordered the bean and cheese burrito with no rice (all burritos come with rice in them, per the text written on the menu) and a flour quesadilla w/ chicken (minus the pico de gallo and sour cream - I know, I'm crazy, but I haven't been able to break my childhood appetite ). After trying a neighboring truck we decided to come back to try something new and just a quick bite to hold us over.. or so we thought.. it was storming out so there weren't too many orders that they had to deal with id imagine, a few cars in the lot. I went ahead and got 2 tacos, gf got a fish taco and her son got a steak burrito. The food was good, authentic enough and well seasoned meat. If anything the meat could hold its own amongst many of restaurants or food trucks. Reasonably priced and not super friendly but the workers didn't have an attitude so a fair interaction. The only reason they lost a star with me is because the ridiculous wait time we had for our food. We're talking 20-30 minutes in the rain for an order that 1 person could eat. I know the island is relaxed but I've been to many states and none of them have mexican food that takes that long to cook lol. I know our order wasn't the only priority for the day but waiting out front I could count 2 people get their average sized orders before us too. They didn't look to happy for their wait either. We were browsing the mall and wanted to pick up a quick lunch to bring to the beach with us, and came across 808 Antojitos in the mall parking lot along with two other trucks (that weren't open at the time). We all tried different dishes, but the one I had and really enjoyed was the al pastor quesadilla - so good! Probably one of the best al pastor I've had. The serving was also really big for only $8 or $9. I can't speak on how I thought the other dishes tasted, since we all ordered individually, but everyone in my party enjoyed everything they ordered. Two people had tacos and they were both surprised with how much meat they packed in the tacos! My boyfriend ordered a special dish that I'm forgetting the name of - something that had fried potatoes in it and was torta-like. He really enjoyed that as well. While there is outdoor dining, it's pretty sunny there in the day, so I recommend driving a short drive to wahikuli beach - along the drive you'll see plenty of picnic tables to eat at by the water! In the parking lot of Safeway, there is a small circle of food trucks that we pass by daily. I can never pass up on any taco trucks and I tried the tacos from here after a very disappointing taco run at ono tacos truck not too far away from here. I got the fish and the lengua taco. The fish taco was a nice sized grill fish taco with cabbage and a chipotle aioli. I could've done without the aioli because the flavor was a little off (tasted too much like thousand island dressing?) but it was delicious nonetheless. The lengua taco was amazing. I literally can eat like 10 of those. The lengua was very tender and it was topped with cilantro and onions and the spicy salsa they gave you had a nice kick to it so it really sealed the deal for me. I will be back for more! read more

Being Mexican and knowing what Mexican food taste like and looks like I am highly disappointed. Not only was the service was bad but the burrito I got was I don't know what to describe it as but it's something else... The cashier insisted she didn't know Spanish which was not a problem because I speak English but my mother speaks only Spanish and though I ended up ordering for both of us it's disappointing to see Latinos acts as if they don't speak Spanish to customers who have a language barriers. It's disappointing because we overheard her speak Spanish to the cook. I ordered gorditas for my mom which there was no problem with. But I placed an order for a burrito de Asada and there was no meat in it along with the beans being cold, which were clearly canned beans. I also don't know why they would put lettuce and tomato into a burrito because typically burritos are not supposed to have those ingredients. Ordered the fish tacos as it is a go to staple for me and always sets the scene for a new place to eat. It tasted good, with a nice spicy sauce, unforuntately they serve their tacos on a single tortilla which means when you try to eat it it falls apart. Very messy and needed a fork as the bottom of the taco fell out. Jazzy's in Wailea uses 2 tortillas and glues them together with melted cheesy goodness. I lived in SoCal for 18 years and every taco I had was double tortilla so it didn't disintegrate. Wish they would do that here. We have been here previously and hubby liked the quesadillas, but not tonight. Maybe a new chef? Not as tasty as previously.
