Carne asada taco on left & al pastor taco on right. Both without onions (I already squeezed the limes)

I was born in Long Beach, CA and lived there for 27 years, so I was spoiled with great Mexican food. I always crave bean & cheese burritos, so since moving to Maui, I've been on the hunt to find my favorite. 808 Antojitos was my 1st stop. Unfortunately, I'm going to keep looking. The beans just weren't right for me and fell a little flat. Maybe they needed to have more lard or seasoning in general. The tacos weren't bad. The carne asada tasted great but was a little dry. The al pastor was moist, but a little sweet for me. I'd come back to try new things. I gave it 4/5 stars because while I've had better in SoCal, it's pretty good for Maui. If I can't find another go-to Mexican place on the island, I wouldn't be too upset to return here. The man I dealt with was very nice, attentive, and helpful. There was plenty of seating, but only one table had some shade around 3p. The rest were under the hot sun.

Lots of shaded seating - April 2025

Loved it and would go back. As self proclaimed Al pastor experts, we found their al pastor to be some of the best - even compared to Mexico or Los Angeles. Great friendly service. Quick preparation. We all loved it. Lots of shade while ordering and 4 picnic tables.

They should rename this place 808 sucks .. We had the Asada plate. The meat was dry, tough and too salty.. do not let the ratings for you. This place sucks...

Wow, Thai food truck is an absolute gem in Lahaina, the best value in Maui by far! It has a wide variety of delicious options, great taste, and the ingredients are very fresh! The service is fast and the little patio ambiance is very cute. We took ours back to eat the second time at the hotel, we had the views to match the quality of the food!

I got the carne asada and Al pastor burritos. The burritos were smaller than what I'm used to in California. The green sauce was more flavorful than the red sauce. The burritos were tasty but did not have enough meat. Lettuce inside the burritos was not something I was used to either. The service was quick. Ambiance was dark at night. You could smell their generators running so if you're not okay with that then just take it and eat elsewhere. There is also no bathroom available.

We were excited to try this food truck and have some fish tacos. Unfortunately they weren't that great! They needed another tortilla because having just one made it fall apart after the first bite. Also, the flavors were just okay. Nothing special. The rice had an odd flavor and the beans were pretty salty. Overall a big disappointment!

Pretty solid overall. We were getting our nails done at the lahaina cannery and luckily, 808 Antojitos was right outside. We had some time to kill and were hungry for a snack so we went to check it out. They weren't too busy during the weekday late lunch hour, but there were some folks sitting outside and enjoying their food at the tables. Ordering + waiting for the food was super quick. We were able to get everything done in probably 10 minutes max. We sat at one of the tables in the parking lot to enjoy the nice fresh air. I got 2 chicken tacos. They were loaded with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Definitely generous portions. However, the chicken was pretty dry and didn't have a whole lot of flavor. The green salsa they provided helped and definitely gave it that extra kick! Sounds like other meat tacos are a lot better, based on other reviews. Maybe the move is to go for their burritos next time!

This taco truck in Maui has to be the best food we've had on our entire one week vacation, April, 2025. We had a lot of resort food, restaurants, but this Mexican spot is definitely the best! We went around 5pm on a Monday and there wasn't anyone in line or eating. We ordered fish tacos, chicken tacos, al pastor tacos, and a birria taco (special menu item). Hands down the birria taco was my favorite. We also got a gansito (Mexican dessert treat), Arizona tea, and water. The total cost was less than we've paid for a meal for our family this entire trip! Definitely recommend and I would return. Family owned and operated and very friendly. While eating, more customers came. They have a cute little seating area in the front to enjoy your meal or takeaway. I didn't eat the salsas (green or red) because they were very spicy.

Fish Taco Plate (rice very flavorful too)

808 was recommended by Dee's Poi Mochi as great food truck fare in Lahaina. Our experience is that some of it is solid and some less than expected. We tried their fish, carne asada, and Al pastor tacos. Here the fish was the most flavorful, partly due to flavoring on fish and also the generous sauce on top (see second pic). Al pastor taco solid, though a bit drier than what I usually think of Al pastor tacos. Carne asada taco was underwhelming. Would get fish again and try other items. A taco plat comes with rice and beans, and the dirty rice was strong flavor while beans with cheese on top was expectedly bland. Loved their al pastor tacos and fish tacos. Their rice was super flavorful too. Skip the carne asada tacos. Recommended by Dee's, food was okay.

So far the best food we ate in Maui no joke not even the big nice restaurant They have this good food for sure. They are the best in the town.

Mahi Mahi Tacos

Located in the parking lot near Safeway! Food is a solid 3.8! Definitely rounding up because 808 is one of the few food joints open past 8pm! Everything closes early in Maui Jodeci was sweet and helpful. I warned her I'm from Los Angeles where we run deep with Mexican food! She explained the Mahi Mahi tacos: Pico, Lettuce and Aoli, did you say Aoli? I LOVE Aoli, SOLD! The fish is cooked on a separate section of the grill for all my pescatarians!

When I first walked up to the window, the guy working the truck had on a smile and greeted me kindly. While I was ordering, he made sure to ask good questions to ensure the food I was getting would be made exactly how I wanted it. I'm picky, so I ordered the bean and cheese burrito with no rice (all burritos come with rice in them, per the text written on the menu) and a flour quesadilla w/ chicken (minus the pico de gallo and sour cream - I know, I'm crazy, but I haven't been able to break my childhood appetite ). I got my food within 7 minutes! Once again, the guy was super nice. The nice part was they had a few tables set out that you could sit at to wait & eat.

Excellent elote and burritos! Will be returning for a second time before we leave. Perfect for the beach and the kids even loved it.

We waited too long on our first night in Hawaii to decide where to eat. Hubby pulled up the Yelp…read moreapp, put in sushi and this food truck came up as still open at 7:30 pm. We decided to hit the road and find it. Lucky we did! It was open, there was no line. It had a great assortment of rolls and a good number of options for nigiri. We got 4-5 rolls and some nigiri and a poke bowl. It was all freshly made, perfectly rolled and came out at the time told to us, about 15 minutes. We ate it in the car- we didn't notice the ants in the table until after we sat down to wait for about 10 minutes. I followed them on instagram and they posted our order. So cool! We went back one more time during our trip.

At least two of our uber drivers mentioned this place as a top sushi place on Maui, and I'm glad…read morethey recommended it! Smash Maui is an absolute vibe. We stopped by on a Monday night around 7:30 pm after doing the road to Hana. They had some Whitney Houston and Shakira bumpin, some cute garden lights, and three outdoor picnic tables for diners. We ordered and had to fill up on gas, so we picked up some drinks from the nearby gas station and got back to wait for the food. The server said it would take about 15 minutes, and I think that was pretty accurate. We ended up ordering the following: Salmon Nigiri - 3/5 this was a little bit more salty than I normally expect of my nigiri. Spicy California Roll - 5/5 tasted like a fresh California roll with some spicy mayo on it. It wasn't very spicy though? Mild enough for the non-spice lovers. Tempura Roll - 5/5 this was probably my favorite roll. It was simple yet delicious. You can't ever go wrong with unagi sauce. Smash Roll - 4/5 the smash roll was really good. It had a good, well-rounded taste with the tuna and salmon. This was my husband's favorite roll. If you're feeling like you need some good Asian-American sushi, check out Smash Maui! It's going to hit!
