You can just feel it--and yes, confirmed: actual Mexican folks running the place, so you already know the food isn't playing around. Everything was insanely tasty and felt super authentic. Like the kind of tacos that make you pause mid-bite and rethink every other taco you've had before. Bonus points for the sauce bar--lowkey my favorite part. Nothing like standing there debating life decisions while trying every salsa like you're on a flavor quest. Easy 5 stars. Located near the airport and next to Costco. Last month my wife and I (along with another couple) just arrived into Maui airport. The car rental company receptionist recommended this area of food trucks to check out since it was close by. It was about a 15 minute drive to the food trucks. Our friends said they've tried Ono Tacos before in Lahaina. They said that the tacos they had were good! I was in the mood for tacos so I ordered one Al Pastor "Pork" taco and the Shredded Beef Birria tacos. They were both very tasty and I would say "on par" with tacos I've had on the mainland! The burrito was mediocre. We were confused between two Ono Tacos trucks in Kahului. We actually wanted to go to the one we visited several years ago in Lahaina. Based on the name and the continuity of the Yelp reviews from when this food truck was in Lahaina, we assumed this was the original one. Later, we learned that the original Lahaina truck had split into two after the partners separated, this is one of them, and the other is about a mile away. Unfortunately, we didn't get the same taste we remembered from when the truck was in Lahaina. The shrimp were very dry and tasted like frozen, Costco-bought shrimp rather than fresh. They also spoke negatively about the other truck. Next time we're in Maui, we will try the other one. read more

So yummy! Definitely stop here...with CASH in hand. We flew in, stopped at the nearby local Whole Foods for groc. and stopped here for a bite after. We are so glad we did. The Ono fish tacos were highly recommended and the steak looked simple, but it was quite flavorful. Great hospitality. Salsa and topping bar with great flavors and variety. Cash only! Not sure if we went on an off night or what. I wanted to try this lunch truck for a while but never got a chance to. Burrito was good. Packed with steak, rice, lettuce, cheese. The carne asada tacos plate was a little disappointing. There was a lot of meat for sure, but nothing but meat. It was a little weird. Thought there would be something on it for more flavor. This was truly amazing!!!! Food was 6/5. We got the taco salad with steak- it was so fully packed, nicely dressed with tomatoes/dressing/ETC. The steak was soft/moist, flavorful. Wow authentic delicious Mexican street tacos in Maui right by the airport, I was not expecting that and it hit the spot. Perfect marinated meats, perfect birria, perfect salsas. The only reason I carry cash in Maui is for this taco truck - no lie. I was unable to find this truck on my last visit to Maui but I'm glad to see they're still in business! After reading some recent reviews I see they now also accept Venmo and possibly other options which is great. All this to say - the tacos and burritos here are legit. If you're looking for traditional flavors and combos this is the place. The food is quick, hot, y con sabor! The truck used to be parked in a random strip mall with no tables or seating area but it seems now they are in a much better location for reaching more customers which is great. Wow .. this is a food truck? The food was carefully prepared just as order per request. We had the fish , shrimp and meat taco and seafood and chicken burritos All were amazingly delicious. There is a salsa bar with a variety of sauces and condiments. They have a little sit down patio with a pergola that's super cute. The chickens are a bit of a nuisance but that's outdoor Maui ! Service was quick and the food was tasty. Being from Arizona we are very familiar with carne asada burritos. The size was great and ingredients seemed very fresh. The asada was a bit lacking in flavor (that expected charred, smokiness) however, the sauces made up for it. The guac sauce was really good, hot is for sure hot, the medium has a good balance of heat and a nice green chili and lime flavor and the mild was fresh and delicious. We ordered the shrimp taco salad, cheese taco with shrimp and and a shrimp torta. We're pescatarians and didn't realize the torta came with ham so we had to remove it, otherwise everything else was perfect. The salad came with a ton of flavorful shrimp, the shrimp taco was fried to perfection and the salsas on the side were either spicy or tangy, just the way I like it. I door dashed my meal so it wasn't completely fresh which I knew. I am also a picky eater on top of having a dairy allergy (which they were very helpful with!) so I tend to eat a bit plain. This food truck is located behind the Maui Clinic Building on Puunene Avenue. It relocated from Lahaina after the August fires, and I hope it stays at this location because it is a short trip from my office. There is ample parking at Maui Mall if you're driving. I had not tried their food in Lahaina, but I've eaten here twice in the past week. Their food is great and servings filling. I went for two tacos on my first trip and opted to add rice and beans for $1.00 more. On my second visit, I tried the nachos with shredded beef. This time I added the salsa over my meal before I left. It was worth it, as their salsa bar has a good variety of add ons. Guys! Ono Tacos from Lahaina is up and running in Kahului. They are posted up in a black food truck on the backside of the Maui Clinic Building (across Subway in Maui Mall). They have the same phone # (808) 357-3779 and are open everyday from 11am-9pm. They are still cash only! We called in an order today and they had it ready within 10 minutes. My co-worker went to pick it up and she said they were so super nice and appreciative for our orders. I have been going to this food truck for years in Lahaina and am so excited to have them close by! They lost their original truck in the fire so please, please, please come out and support them! My favorite burrito on Maui, but be aware they are a cash only operation, so come ready! A few pro tips: a steak and shrimp burrito is not on the menu, but they will happily make one for you, and the hotdog is so delicious and comes out so quickly that you should definitely order one while you wait for the rest of your order and enjoy it on the picnic table right there. Also, try all three of their sauces. But holy cow, the orange one will light you up. The ingredients are so fresh, flavorful, and most importantly -- filling! I ordered the shrimp burrito, birria taco, and Al pastor taco. I was not disappointed with any of my purchases. We went bc it was close to the airport. The tacos are stuffed and there is a "salsa bar" which is nice for toppings since they come pretty bare. My husband and I both enjoyed them but the steak taco is just steak so make sure to add your own toppings. We've had this taco truck every time we come to Hawaii and I feel like the quality changed a lot. I ordered the carne asada, chicken, and Birria tacos. They're regular sized tacos. The chicken was extremely dry, the carne asada was more like steak and gummy. The Birria was good but nothing exceptional. And 6 dollars per taco???? That's extremely over priced. i ordered birria tacos without cheese the girl at the register noticed that they had cheese so they had to redo, got home 15 minutes later the food was ice cold and the beans loaded with cheese, also I had a beef tongue taco which when I picked to eat was sitting in about 1/4" of oil and juice. Food truck visible from Route 30 Highway, has seating at bench tables for ~20, cash only, and shrimp burrito is the best! Continuing on our food truck journey around the island we are at Ono Tacos. We tried a bit of everything and the best item (recommended by others on Yelp) is the Burrito with Shrimp/Camaro es. The shrimp was well flavored, but the whole package is just bursting with flavor. They offer mild/medium/hot salsas and also an avocado sauce, but we thought the chipotle cream was great and would want an extra of it. The salad with fish smelled amazing, very fragrant, and was filling too. The fish had a nice seasoning to it, and there was enough sauce/dressing to work with the proportion of shredded lettuce underneath. The Al pastor tacos were drier than expected (I usually think the Al pastor as being very wet and saucy), though strongly seasoned. The avocado sauce went nicely with it. The combo is $1-2 more than two tacos and comes with rice and beans, these can add more flavor and volume to the tacos. The carne asada quesadilla is meat + cheese + tortilla, as you might imagine. The steak did had a strong seasoning/flavor to it, acceptable in the quesadilla. I was pretty thirsty afterwards, and I suspect that all proteins incorporate a lot of salt to get the strong flavor. Comparing all the dishes, I could see the shrimp and fish working well on each vehicle (burrito, taco, salad, torta), with the burrito being a good volume and great flavor combination. Theirs nothin like authentic tacos made from scratch and Ono Tacos has them! This little food truck can be found tucked away at the end of the Subway parking area. The people running the truck were friendly, and the food was prepared fast! They have a variety of meats to choose from such as lengua, beef, shrimp, carne asada, and fish. They also have a salsa bar with onion and cilantro options which I thought was a nice touch. The seating area was covered and clean.
