Fixed the problem but at a ridiculous price. My 4 year old faucet was leaking, and I did not want to wait to have Moen mail me the parts. The service man was very friendly and worked fast, but wanted to charge me $700 to replace the faucet (new it cost $200), plus $49 for the visit. He stated that Horizon does not replace the leaky ring or broken parts, but replaces the entire insides of the faucet. I opted to have him replace the insides for $379, and got a 3 year guarantee. Did use a $50 coupon. Probably should have waited for my boyfriend to replace the whole thing and saved about $120, but I was worried about my cabinet wood. I need to find a local guy to call for this kind of work. Horizon does service my AC-heating system and my price refected an additional discount of $58, but I still think it is shocking that a 10 minute repair can cost 1 1/2 times the cost of a new faucet. read more

Back in September of 2020, I got this company to service my gas heater because it was not working, and the technician said the thermocouple needed to be changed. Fast forward to November 2020, my heater isn't working again. I called them to see if they could come out and check it they told me they would charge me $110 to come out and check something that they fixed. I'm not understanding how a thermocouple stops working within a year and it's supposed to last at least 10 years. Im not happy with this company at all. Always called Horizon when in King of Prussia home and was always happy with price and work Moved to Limerick. Needed a new kitchen faucet and had them come out. Knew it would cost $49 but assumed they were still above board, so I agreed. Ready for this??!! They wanted to charge us $896.00 for 1/2 hr work and new faucet. After I threatened a Yelp and Facebook review, he went down to $576.00. STILL A RIPOFF! I didn't want to lose $49. So, to install a faucet, minus the faucet price of $250, they charged $326 labor for 1/2 hr work!!!!! Didn't even give me a Horizon service plan for other services and told me they were coming down a lot for me. So, if I said ok originally, labor for 1/2 hr would have been $646!!!!! The guy just started work without giving me a price first. Since it was just a small drip and he said it would take about 30minutes, I figured it cost about $100. Nope. I called Horizon earlier this week as we were hearing a banging sound after flushing toilets and running other water in our townhome. I tried to remedy it myself by turning the water main off and clearing out the pipes as had been suggested in researching online but it did not resolve the issue. Caleb and the other worker who came with him were super friendly and I believe they did quality work. My issue is with the company and their pricing. If you charge a $59.50 dispatch fee, that should be deducted if you have the work done by them. I was told the sound was because my pressure reducing valve had gone bad so they would replace it for $805. Once replaced, the water hammer sound still was happening so they said they were going to have to add a second PRV. They did give me 50% discount on that one for a cost of $402.50. Once the second valve was installed, the sound did stop. But it doesn't make much sense to me that it was fine with one valve before and I have lived there for 9 years. I ended up paying a total of $1,159.19 for something that probably should have been half that or less. They have good reviews on Google but now after reading some here I wish I just paid the dispatch fee and sent them on their way and hired someone else with reasonable rates. I will say I've been or was a fan whenever I needed plumbing work and would call Horizon. Recently I had them come for a problem that needed an HVAC person. The guy pretty much told me the repair I needed was a band aid with no guarantees because my entire boiler system needed to be replaced ASAP. He proceeded to give me an approximate $3,000 quote for the band aid and that one of their sales people would have to come out to give me a quote for replacement. The ball park range he gave me was 12,000-14,000. I felt pressured to make a sales appointment right away. Thankfully I did get a second opinion and canceled the appointment with the Sales rep. Their band aid quote of $3000 was done by the second opinion for $150!!!!! My heating system is old however the second Company stated I should get it done by next winter so I had a time frame to save some funds. That heating system quote was $1500-6000 depending on what I wanted. Now the company won't stop calling me to set another sales appointment. I'm not answering your last 5 phone calls for a reason. You lost all business with me!!! I know your response will be some generic response you seem to do with negative reviews. It will be something to the effect that "you can't seem to find a file " insinuating that I am not making a real review or that I even had contact with your company. I've now had two separate experiences with Horizon. Both started out nicely with friendly customer service, prompt arrivals and polite and knowledgeable technicians. That is the absolute extent of positive feedback that I can offer. Beyond that, in BOTH circumstances, I was passed around from person to person, received broken promise after broken promise for call backs and was left hanging for a scheduled appointment without so much as a phone call to cancel. You may wonder why I went back after the first experience. I did so because the second time was an emergency and I thought perhaps the first situation was a one-time thing. I was wrong. This is just how Horizon does business. Do not trust this company with your time or your money. It's may be a sweet start, but there's a sour, sour finish that would leave a nasty taste in anyone's mouth. I'm so thankful that I didn't lose any money with this company. They are known for having ridiculously high prices, but I was willing to accept that for the sake of working heat. But the complete and total disrespect burns me more than their prices would have. Im not sure how this company can actually be in business and the techs can sleep at night. I had an emergency with my AC last year. 2021. I couldnt get a local company out. I call Horizon. They come out, fix the problem. The cost is $419. Fine, no problem. But for $430 you get the free check up next year. No brainer. I call them out early Spring for AC check up. Low and behold, the coolant is low. He showed me and my fiance the gauge. I can pay $600 for a leak test but he recommends a full replacement. Coils are expensive. Unit is 8 yrs old. Didnt seem right. Move on to this week. Unit is freezing up. Good sign of low coolant. I call my LOCAL company. Guess what. Its just to motor. I asked about the coolant. He said id anything it is bordeline too much. WHAT? But Horizon showed me the gauge. He said nope. All is good. Motor is covered under the 10 yr warranty from Carrier. In speaking to others same thing happened to them and in one case a unit had a pin hole leak that showed up right after a check up. Cant prove it but..... Disgusting business practice. read more

We found some water dripping down around the air vent area in the basement. Not sure if it's HVAC related, so called them and check if they can have someone to take a look. They setup the appointment for the same day and called before arriving. The tech did some check and determined that the HVAC system was fine; there is actually a leaking pipe from the toilet on the first floor. Lucky for us, the tech worked as a plumber before and was able to fix the leak himself (just needed to grab some new tubes from the office). To replace a toilet with one I purchased from Home Depot $580.00 , to replace a Pedestal sink purchased from Home Depot $1,280.00 .These turkeys are nothing more than overcharging rip off artists. BEWARE! Horizon bought the company I used to use to service my air conditioner and heating. I had no problems when they would come twice a year to do my service but a few days ago my air conditioner stopped working and I had someone from the company come out to look at it. They told me that it wasn't worth putting the money into it to attempt to fix it because it was an older unit and the compressor and fan wouldn't work. He told me that he could have someone come out to give me an estimate for a new system. I reluctantly got the estimate because I figured I had no other choice. I called another local AC person and they put a new compressor in in about 15 minutes and it is running beautifully. My unit didn't need to be replaced!!!! And when the salesman was at my house giving me an estimate he told me I should replace my hot water heaters in case they leak it could be catastrophic. I've never had a problem with these water heaters. I'm angry that they tried to take advantage of me and told me that my unit wasn't worth fixing and couldn't be fixed. Beware! read more

Got flyer for good deal for A/C and heater check. Even though they have a website to book, it does not allow you to complete transaction. Must call and talk to salesperson. On phone , they never asked me how many units I had in the house (I have two). Not big deal, but it meant that they did not charge me the amount offered on the flyer. Technician checked unit #1 and told me that it was low on refrigerant and it would cost $744 to fix it. I said no. Technician said that A/C would not work without refrigerant. I held my hand over A/C duct and it was blowing cold air. I said it was working fine. When technician checked second unit, he reported that he had erred and that the first unit had a different refrigerant than he had thought and that it was OK after all. Then we told me that the second unit needed two new parts -- a capacitor and a contactor -- and that would cost $767 to fix! I said no, it was fine. Then he tried to sell me a maintenance contract and then a WHOLE NEW SYSTEM! I realize that these 'deals' are an opportunity to get someone in your house to sell you additional services, but I've never seen something so blatant as this. read more

They tried to sell me new systems and told me they only had one in stock and if I had it installed in the next two days they could discount my job $5k. Really? Worse than a car salesman! The technician was knowledgeable, during my tuneup. However, my hunch, tuneups don't pay the bills, so "find something wrong" and kill the customer on markup fees for parts! My capacitor showed it was failing. The fee to replace it was $301! Less coupon $261! My research showed the part was no more than $25! I was able to get a partial refund but it was absolutely criminal how they marked that up! They even tried to throw in labor, when the labor was already done during the tuneup. Meaning, he had to take out my old one to test it and if I said no to the replacement he either put the old one back or the new one in. Again same labor for what I paid in my tuneup fee. Also the capacitors I researched that match the one put in, all had 5 to 15 year warranties. They tried to tell me, "well you got a two year warranty on this capacitor." First of all, the technician was not willing to do fix the clogged kitchen pipe (company policy for apartments in a condo complex) and then I got an estimate for fixing the toilet flusher for $486 ($20 worth of material from Home Depot and 20 minutes of labor if I did it myself) and almost $700 for changing the dishwasher fitting to the kitchen sink (are you kidding?) A little after they left my AC developed a problem holding temperature and took a lot longer to cool... I made contact with the company and they send someone out a few days later to check and said that the system needs refrigerant and may have developed a leak and I have to pay several hundred dollars to do a leak check and put refrigerant in... I spoke to a manager by the name of Joe who was very rude kept shouting at me, talking over me, and finally told me that I have to pay or nothing can be done... My AC was working perfectly until they did the tune-up and it stopped working and now they want me to pay several hundred dollars to fix whatever they did to it... So we may end up in court!!! Service guys stated it had multiple leaks and needed to be replaced and gave us a menu of options including replacing both the furnace and the a/c system - both are about 12 years old. Four years ago I had Horizon out to do a tune up on my central air conditioner. That tech was very helpful and found a minor electrical connection that was getting lose and repaired it before it would become a bigger issue. He also changed the filter. Fast forward one year (three years ago) I had Horizon out to do another tune up on my central air conditioner which was 13 years old at the time. The tech didn't do much of a tune up. All he really did was hook up his gauges and told me the unit had a Freon leak. He suggested I have someone out from sales to get an estimate on a new system. The salesman was very pushy and was estimating a price between 12 and 15k for an oil furnace and central air conditioner. Mind you my house is only 1400 square feet! He did offer to lower the price a bit when he realized I wasn't going to bite on it that moment but it was still in the 5 figure range which I know is still too high. Eventually I got him to leave. Being hesitant on what I was hearing I called a second company out to look at the unit. This tech looked it over and said the unit had no leaks and it would probably last atleast a few more years. When he asked what company told me it had a leak and I told him he wasn't surprised at all. He also said Horizon is the highest priced HVAC company in the area. What would cost 15k through Horizon his company did at a similar house in the area for only 8,200. Several days later someone from Horizon was calling me for days about my estimate. I eventually replied to an email and told her the unit had no problems! Nothing more was said from her after that. Fast forward three more years (2020) and the same ac unit Horizon told me had a leak three years ago is still working fine. I did have to change the contactor (which has nothing to do with refridgerant charge) which I managed to do myself in 2018 but that's been it so far. Now I am saving up so I can buy a new unit at a reasonable price from a reasonable contractor in the next 12 to 18 months. And needless to say that company will NOT be Horizon Services. I did have them do some plumbing repairs several years ago. Their repairs were very good however they were very expensive. Since then I have found more reasonably priced plumbers. read more

I told them that the township requires that there is video lateral inspection of the sewer pipes. Lady over the phone told me that it would be $99 for cleaning and video. Horizon came to repair a problem with a sewer line in December. They replaced the line and left the yard torn up saying they'd come back in the Spring to repair and seed the lawn. We've made multiple calls to attempt to get them to come back and finish the job with absolutely no response. Considering the cost of this service was almost $10k this is completely unacceptable. Definitely causes concern for any warranty they say they provide with the sewer line service! Would not use them again or recommend them to others. read more
