I was afraid the pancakes and french toast would be super sweet, but they weren't. The pancakes were fluffy and not too sweet. The toppings were well incorporated and not over powering. The French toast was perfectly cooked and not too big. The whipped cream was delicious and not overly sweet. I was afraid the coffee would be mediocre, but it was perfect. I wish I lived here so I could try more of the menu! Our server, Audley, was polite, understood the menu, and timely. It was the best breakfast I have ever had, so I wanted to make sure the staff knew what a great time I had. I asked to speak to the manager. Yelp is fine, but I strongly believe in paying compliments directly to those in charge. The manager could not have been less interested in talking to me. A middle aged, medium height, average sized, medium blonde haired woman with large earrings, anxious eyes, and a false smile... she was quick to come over and quick to ignore me. She made minimal eye contact, turned her body away from me, and proceeded to pick up plates before I had finished my sentence. She turned her body away before I was done speaking. As soon as she felt I had spoken long enough, she left. It was a strange experience for an otherwise pleasant meal. If I lived closer, I'd likely choose somewhere else for future breakfasts. When management isn't interested in doing their job, service tends to follow. It's too bad. If only she had managed to stand still, face me, and listen... I might have given this a five star review.

Well lit with kitschy decor-a mix of colorful murals and teapots (teapots are for sale), and other items, like puzzles and cute boxes. Uneven floors add to its charm. Menus are cute newspapers, with "articles" about the place and area in case you're interested. Nice coffee options, like espresso, cappuccino, and lattes, though we elected to have just regular coffee. Served hot with free refills, and choice of half & half or flavored creamers on the table. I ordered the biscuits & gravy with eggs and hash browns, while my husband ordered the lobster Benedict. Food came out relatively quickly and we were both pretty happy with our orders. We ordered extra crispy hash browns and they were the only item that fell short, not being really extra crispy. But they were good enough considering how good the rest of the food was. Our sever came by several times to check on us and give us coffee warm ups. Really just a great experience overall. Sometimes tourist town restaurants miss the mark, but Java Joe's isn't one of those. We loved it and are looking forward to coming back!

Our server Lisa was so warm and friendly (as if she was your mother) and took great care of us! Got the parmesan topped whitefish with creamy mushroom soup and coleslaw. The mushroom soup was creamy and hearty. I liked the coleslaw - just the right amount of sweet and sour for me. I enjoyed the fish very much. We would have gotten some desserts but we were so full. We did see that the cheesecake slices were huge! Would definitely recommend this place!

To place a carry out order, you must come inside and sit down at a table, then tell your server that you want to place a to go order. Lisa was helpful, told me the order would be out pretty quickly, and she brought me a glass of water for while I waited. I ordered the mackinaw burger with onion rings, and hot ham and cheese with fries. I also ordered a coconut cream pie and a Dutch cherry pie slice. All of this was to go, and she packed it up and brought me carry-bags for it. The coconut cream pie was good. The Dutch cherry was ok but, I have had better. The French fries were good--crispy and lightly seasoned. The onion rings were large and hot/fresh, but they are battered (I prefer breaded), and they are pretty greasy. The burger was nice sized and cooked well done, which I like. It came with cheese, lots of pickles, relish, lots of mustard, and just a little ketchup. The hot ham and cheese was okay. I chose white bread rather than rye or wheat. The bread was not special--seemed like white bread you'd buy at any grocery in a plastic wrapper. There's an up-charge for the onion rings. I say skip that and get the fries. For the 2 sandwiches, 1 with fries, one with onion rings, and 2 pieces of pie, my bill was $51.36 before any tip added on. I get that it's a short season up north here, so I expect everything to be a little pricey. If the burger had a bit of char and came on an upscale bun, if the hot ham and cheese came on a thicker toasted bread, I'd say ok. But for what we got, it was overpriced.
