I came here earlier this week for my cat Ninki who needed a dental cleaning with extractions, and I could not be more pleased with the experience. We drove 8 hours from Sacramento and were originally quoted $1800-$3200 for the dental work. We left the vet here in Tijuana paying around $300! The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Dr. Alejandra was very knowledgeable and caring while treating Ninki. She took the time to explain everything and answered all of our questions. The entire process was super easy and quick. I had an emergency with my 6 year old chihuahua. After taking her to multiple different veterinarians in San Diego and spending hundreds of dollars and being told she was better I decided to give Tijuana a try. I arrived on a Monday morning at 10 am without an appointment hoping that she would be seen, she was under stress since she was once again not feeling well. I checked in at the window and they had a full clinic, I was told they couldn't see her without an appointment but luckily someone had canceled at 12pm. I told them I would wait. While waiting my chihuahua had a seizure and they rushed her inside right away. They took care of her and she had the best care she had ever had. We spent the following week taking her for labs, ultra sounds, and follow ups. For once's I was told what was truly wrong with her. Dr.Karina saved my Chiquita's life. If it wasn't because I was there that day she wouldn't had made it alive. Dr.Karina really cares about her job, she isn't like other vets that are only after money. They don't argue back they love you unconditionally and all they wanna do is please you and in return all I wanna do is take care of them love them and then enjoy them when I had to send my Chihuahua Over the border. Meds are pricey here, so i usually just go to local tj pharmacy. also their vet exams got pricey too quickly compared to others around. otherwise, all drs, speacialists and receptionists are fantastic. labs/ ultrasound, xrays prices are very fair. very clean hospital too and is close to border. i mainly request dra. alejandra for all my dogs and she is fantastic, patient, very nice and i trust her 100%.. shes very professional and is veryyyy thorough with any medical concern/ explaining treatments. her animal handling skills are also top tier. My dog was fine as you can see in the first picture, same day of that picture my neighbors dog came in to play and while baking a cake and talking to my friend I didn't see what exactly happened, but obviously we can assume what went on, the other dog was bigger and by roughly playing she probably pawed my dogs eye, and after they left I looked at my dog and knew right away something looked different. Decided then to schedule her an appointment at Hospivet where I had been using as a vet for past few years but she never had anything major just check ups, which now have put me in thinking of all the unnecessary things they made me pay for those past visits. As a concerned dog mom, I did my research before coming in, but already knowing what happened I just expected they would concern based on what I have stated, which basically was, my dog had been pawed in the eye by a bigger dog, which clearly you can see her lower lid a bit detached and her third eye lid coming out a little, what would I assume they would do is a check up to see pressure, possible a scratch on the cornea anything along these lines, and obviously a treatment based on another dog who had caused some trauma on her eye, like a eye drops some simple, but no, they decided to skip all the first things first and started raising my concern to a mass tumor on her head which obviously would cost me and make them more money than a eye drop treatment for a possible inflammation to the affected area. Please use your common sense which isn't so common nowadays anymore and do not bring your dog here. I cut them off as soon as they started talking about a possibility of neurological problem so I don't even bring that energy to my life or my dogs life, and walked away. You can tell when they listen to you and when they are trying to sell you on something bigger and possibly unnecessary!!!!! And I say this because, if she had never played with another dog, sure I could take that in consideration as it was one of the possible things which came up when I googled about dog eye trauma, but the first possible reason was exactly what I supposed it would be and that's me not being a veterinarian!!!! So my point is they were trying to treat for what it was but for what they would make more money even if it would cost unnecessary situation like a supposition of a mass tumor in my baby's head I am going with my instincts and washing through with saline solution and I am trying to find a reputable doctor to check for what the cause is like an inflammation to the eye which is simply treated with an eye drop without putting my dog throughout unnecessary stress, and whatever else could create too, since it's in those situations which could have been avoid a loss of pet with a surgery that was not needed. When they realized I was smarter than a 3rd grade and cut them off, and that bullshit was not cutting it, they let me go without even trying obviously because they realize that crap wasn't gonna cut with me. We had a great experience today getting our dog's teeth cleaned (and one extraction) at Hospivet! We were driving from San Diego and worried about what the experience would be like. Well, it was perfect! The office has parking, is super clean and modern, and the doctors seem very caring and speak English very well. Driving around Tijuana is a bit crazy but we did it (not without lots of honks directed our way!) and found a couple of fun restaurants to go check out while we waited. I think its best to book your appt mid week so you don't run in to weekend travelers. I would have paid well over a thousand dollars in San Diego for a treatment that cost me 275 dollars with medications included. And I think this place was just as professional if not more so. Thank goodness! I live in San Diego and my toy poodle needed a dental cleaning, they quoted me about $1,500USD. Crazy! And that was without knowing if he needed extractions (which he did not). I started looking into TJ and came across Hospivet. Dr. Alejandra was so nice and took her time with my baby. I took care of his dental cleaning with anesthesia, an evaluation with microchipping, nail clipping and ear cleaning for less than a fourth of the original quoted price in San Diego! I cannot recommend this hospital, staff and vets enough. Like most people, I was very nervous and scared to bring my dog across the border for veterinary services but I am so glad I did and will continue to do so. My Dad's 10 year old Chihuahua was in serious need of teeth cleaning. I called 3 weeks prior and received the exact cost, the breakdown of the procedure and how that day will go. I had no surprise costs added exactly what they quoted me I paid, even with the hypotheticals. I called 2 more times in between then and the appintment and I always received amazing costumer service. The day of the procedure we did have a hard time getting to the clinic, I was able to call them before opening hours and they assisted us. The hospital is on the same street as the sentri line, so it is heavily guarded and no one can get in unless they are there for sentri. The staff spoke to the cops on speakerphone and they let us through. We paid for expedited blood work and once he got the OK he had his procedure done. It was a lot quicker than expected. For those that are on the fence or nervous, go for it, it is the best experience I've had and will always recommend it. read more

After searching so many vets in California for my dogs teeth problems having to remove some teeth and have a cleaning I was getting quotes for 4-5k which I don't have so we looked into vets in Tijuana we had decided to go to Hospivet. Was very pleased with them. We had an appointment at 1pm but we got there when they had opened at 9 and they were able to take us in early. Everything all together came to about 350. We're so glad we took the risk with Hospivet! Like everyone else we were nervous & skeptical crossing over the border for vet care but we're very happy we did. Scheduling was easy (although in Spanish, I'm unsure if they speak English), booked an appt for our dog who had 2 fat masses on his back and on the SAME DAY, we went out for the FIRST visit, had a consultation & scheduled surgery that same day to remove them. He got lab work, surgery, and meds all on our first visit to Hospivet. We just got back from having taken him again to get his stitches removed and again, we're very pleased with them. Our quote in the states was well over $4k and we spent less than $600, well worth the trip if you're on the fence. Also, border agents didn't ask us for any documentation both times for our dog although we were prepared with vaccination records, CDC form, and microchip forms. The absolute worse and heartbreaking vet experience EVER! I was trying to save a life of 2 month old kitten who was born without a tail with Atresia Ani. I was quoted for $2,500 in US and it was out of question as I couldn't afford it. The doctor's advice was to euthanize her but I couldn't do that. My other cat's echocardiogram that was done in the past at other Mexican vet clinic was 6 times cheaper that in US. So I took my little girl to Hospivet in Tijuana for a consultation and I was very happy when they offered to do a surgery for $464 + $185 for blood test and x-ray . I still had to borrow this money but that was something I could afford to pay overtime. I was told the surgery will be done the same evening and I can come back and pick her up in 3 days. I paid $649 and specifically asked if that is a total amount or there can be any other charges. I was told that I will be contacted to approve if there is anything else that will require additional fees. They called me shortly after I left and said they couldn't do a blood test because my kitten is to small. I was surprised because I've done blood tests for kittens who were only a few days old , but OK. They also said that surgery will be done next day instead of the same evening. After surgery they were updating me on how she is doing and said that pain medication is needed which costs $25, I said OK of course. Next day when I thought I'll be picking my kitty up, they informed me that some stitches came off and need to be redone wich will cost me $121. I said OK. They said they want to keep her longer because of that.. Then It was a weekend and they said the doctor isn't there and they will let me know on Monday when I can come to get her. When i asked on Monday morning I was told the doctor will let me know later. In the evening when it was already to late to go from Los Angeles to Tijuana and make it before closing they said I can come. So , they kept my baby for a week instead of 3 days. I came next morning and I was SHOCKED when receptionist presented me with extra $1,000 bill. I had only $200 of borrowed money with me to cover pain medication and extra stitches. I was told that it is a hospitalization fee. I was trying to speak to their representative explaining that I should be informed in ADVANCE but NO ONE I spoke to before surgery said a word about any hospitalization fees. And if I knew I would never agree to that as I can not afford it. He said that I SHOUD HAVE KNOWN and ASSUME without anyone telling me anything that I have to pay for hospitalization!!!! And it's $125 per day! I said that I simply can't pay as I don't have that money buy they didn't care. I left WITHOUT my little kitty because i couldn't pay them, I haven't even see her and couldn't say bye. At this point it all seems like they were doing things on purpose to keep her longer, a week instead of 3 days and I guess that is their way of taking advantage of pet owners. Please, take your precious fur babies somewhere else, Hospovet will give you hope and affordable prices just to do everything possibe to rob you of your money as much as they can later when there is no way back for you. I only can PRAY now THAT THEY WON'T KILL MY LIITTLE GIRL!!. She needs another surgery in the future. I pray for her to end up in a good home with a loving family who will take care of my baby, that is all that matters. I've done what I could for her and I hope the surgery had helped her. As most others say the quality of the service compared to the US is substantially better. I will gladly take the day to make my way over here then bring my dog to a vet in the US again. The pricing is extremely fair with their over the phone estimates being almost spit on. I maybe paid $20-30 more than what the estimate was over the phone and that was I'm sure just the costs of the medicines. The doctor is so sweet and comes out to explain all to you while having a very thorough nurse as well. US experience: My dog was told he had rotten teeth and gave me antibiotics and on his way until I could afford surgery being at minimum $700 + $350 per extraction. The surgery would've ended up costing me $2,800. Hospivet experience: did lab work, pre-medicated for surgery (telling me they really tried to get infection under control and help any pain if there was any) and did a fast cleaning before sending him off for the week. Came back for surgery and was kept for almost 6 hours with surgery and observation. I really like the fact he wasn't rushed out! The medical team at Hospivet SAVED my cat, Mamba, preventing me from having to euthanize him. Before I start my review, I want to give special thanks to certain staff members. Irma, the receptionist and who usually works at the front window, was extremely kind and loving. She always had a such a warm and gentle smile. Monce, who spoke the best English, was great at communication and was so humble. Dr. Mara was the one who initially spoke to me about Mamba and checked him out. She was so great at explaining and kept humbly apologizing for not being better at English, but she was amazing and such a sweet girl. I was the foreigner in her country, so she had no reason to apologize. She seemed young, but she loves and genuinely cares about her pet patients and I do not have a doubt she did the best for my Mamba. Dr. Melissa also took care of Mamba and the both of them constantly communicated with me over Whatsapp, providing daily updates and answering all concerns as well as sending pictures and videos. To start, Mamba began vomiting 5-7 times a day and was lethargic, not eating/drinking/pooping/peeing. I live in Los Angeles. I took him to an American Vet in LA, paid $700 just for them to tell me nothing was wrong with him and his bloodwork and xray were fine. I took him home and started syringe feeding him and trying to motivate him. He continued to be weak, anorexic, and vomiting 5x for three more days before I had to take him to critical care because the first vet looked at him again and said he was going to die. The second ER hospital I took him to admitted him only after I agreed to pay $5000 for intensive care for 2 days and ultrasounds. I had to open another line of credit for CareCredit to pay for it. They called me saying he has an obstruction in his lower intestine. Stated they can refer me to a surgeon that would charged $8-10,000 for surgery, NOT INCLUDING inpatient recovery stay after which would cost THOUSANDS more. She said if I can't afford it, I should euthanize him for $200 but she doubts we can find anyone last minute to do surgery on him for cheap. I cried my heart out, having to decide between making myself bankrupt and saving my baby boy. I discharged him at 4AM and drove him straight to Mexico after advice from my friends. I took him to two clinics that refused either because of specialty or being at full capacity before they referred me to Hospivet. I came and right away they took Mamba in. Dr Mara came out to speak to me and said they will do more tests to confirm where the object was. After five hours, we learned that the ER hospital in LA was also wrong about where the object was. The object was in his stomach, not intestines. I already paid $6k just for a wrong diagnosis in America. That day, they admitted him and I paid $100 deposit for the surgery, which they quoted would be $200-$800 estimate, A STEAL compared to US. And I paid $315 for two days of intensive care, blood work, xray, and ultrasound, also such a good price. I asked the vet how likely that Mamba could pass during surgery, and they said its a pretty simple surgery. There's no reason it should've costed that much in America, lol. I left Mamba in Mexico and returned to LA. The next day Mamba had surgery and they continued to monitor him for 7 days, communicating with me on WhatsApp and telling me how his progress. Mamba refused to eat the whole time he was there because he was stressed, but they forced him to eat and gave him fluids. They decided he would be more motivated at home with me so I was able to pick him up a week after I dropped him off. Dr Mara explained to me the five medications they were sending him home with and how to medicate him, 2 were antibiotics, a antiseptic spray for his wound, and 2 were for stomach ulcers and anti-vomiting. They directed and showed me where the cheapest pharmacy to get two of the medications. I paid for the rest of my bill, for a total of $1300 for 5 days inpatient, repeat bloodwork and imaging, and it included the cost of surgery. In total, I paid about $1700 for everything, compared to the $15k+++ I would've paid. In return, I got EXCEPTIONAL care, LOVING staff, and cat that has returned to his loving self. I communicated with staff a day after coming home because Mamba still refused to eat and they adjusted a medication and provided recommendations on how to make him more comfortable. I was scared I would have to take him back if he continued to not improve. I syringe fed him puree food and water. He had nasal irritation from the nasogastric tube that I suspected was keeping him from eating/drinking so I put a humidifer near him. He woke up the next day and began being cuddly, eating, and grooming himself. I sent this update to the team and they were so happy since they were really concerned with their decision to send him home, since he wasn't progressing at the clinic without me. To this day, I credit Mamba's survival to Hospivet's team. read more

We decided for My 15 yr old dog, Coco (still recovering), to have her Lung Tumor removed 9 days ago (as of this writing) at HospiVet after 6 sessions of Vinorelbine chemotherapy was ineffective to reducing Coco's tumor at a local VCA hospital in Carlsbad. It has been a very long harrowing journey since we learned of Coco's Large tumor back in Dec 2021,...the cough killed all her energy and joy in life and it also made life stressful for us as we didn't have many solutions for such rare cancer Having bounced around different hospital areas and googling research on Canine Lung Tumors, I needed to try and expand treatment facilities and I was fortunate to have been referred to here from close friends of friends The entire medical staff were thorough, Dra Priscila, Lulu, Rodriguez, and 2 Veterinary Surgeons (Dr Madrigal) had performed incredible support to help my dog for such an invasive procedure. We had bloodwork, Ultrasound, Radiographs, CAT/CT scans, and Echocardiographs recorded before approval to begin surgery Dr Priscilla is very thorough in details of my dog, and providing me an honest opinion (I asked what would she do if it were her dog). I am always looking to her expertise and guidance to help navigate my care for a geriatric dog I also want to thank the Dr Lulu who watched overnight for Coco's recovery And especially the 2 Veterinary surgeons Their experience and steadfast support of difficult health issues is reassuring ADDITIONAL TREATMENTS- I retuned to HospiVet about 1 week later for what appeared to be Hypopoyon / Uvetis - some form of edema was floating in my dogs eye, as I saw creamy fluid (in the anterior space of her eyes) covering her Iris. The emergency hospitals local here in SD were very busy so I needed to urgently find a solution as these are serious problems. I was prescribed a dilator , and antibiotic's and after 2 days the fluid is out of her eye - Thank you again for your help TIP : see if there is a direct line to the Veterinary support staff, im unable to reach them by email or primary phone line because they are busy so I've been asking local ER hospitals in San Diego for help I don't know much about getting back to the US border but avoid Friday. It can take almost half a day to get back to US side on regular and ReadyLanes and you don't want your Pet in the car for that long read more

I brought my 80 lb pit bull down from LA to get him neutered and examine a lump he had on his chest. They were very transparent with their prices over the phone and I had no extra fees or surprises when I arrived. The initial day, I did bloodwork, consult, sent a sample of the lump to the lab and determined it was a malignant tumor. 2 weeks later We were able to remove the tumor and neuter him during the same surgery. I am so grateful I found this place in total it was about $400 for everything [prices vary by weight] The day of surgery I was able to purchase a surgery pass through them that allowed us to take the surgery lane across the border. Post surgery, he was great he was still energetic and did not seem in pain, sutures healed very well. I purchased cleaning spray, pain meds, antibiotics from them, they offered the e-collar at extra cost but instead used one we own. Surgery follow up, I decided I didn't want to drive to TJ to get the stitches removed and instead did so at my local vet. I am so grateful to have found Hospivet. We recently adopted a yorkie that was in need of veterinary attention. She was used to breed previously so needed to be spayed as well as having multiple hard tumors on her stomach that we were suspicious was breast cancer. She also has never had a teeth cleaning and had rotted teeth. We were scared away from the prices in the US so after searching Yelp and Google I felt confident taking her here. She got everything she needed here. Teeth cleaned, 7 teeth extractions, ear infection treatment, blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound, cardiogram, tumors removed/tested and spayed. I'd probably have to take out a 2nd mortgage if we did this in the states. All this for under $1000. They are professional and very thorough. Her scars have healed very well and we are happy to report the tumors came back non-cancerous. Dr Lulu and her staff rocks!! FYI they are not the fastest. Taken my dog Shypee here (via recommendation) 1.5 miles away from the border- because I wanted to have second opinion if she has a heart murmur. Her vet doctor lulu is very helpful and swee. She explained me throughly what is really going on with shypee and the step by step needed to get her healthier. Now shypee is taking medications and will be having her teeth cleaning by december 23. People here are friendly and you can tell they care for our animals and also the place is really clean. My dog shypee doesn't get nervous when I take her here. My dog is alive because of this place! They did everything they could at a very reasonable price. Our dog had to stay over a week and I felt very comfortable leaving him here. They were attentive and kept me informed on his recovery. He ran into complications due to his illness not the vet and this when they did all they could and thanks to them our dog is living his best life. I will definitely return if needed. I recommend this place to anyone. I was recommended here by my mother in law who's dog had a intestinal blockage just like my dog. I came here because in the US they quoted me $1200 for a heart exam after hearing a heart murmur in my Pomeranian. It was roughly $200 for the exam and $200 for 6 months worth of heart medication. This is the absolute best vet!!! All of the staff are wonderful! We love Dr Pracilla! She is so smart and so good at explaining things to us about our two dogs. Both our dogs have been having a lot of issues. One dog is having liver issues and the other pup is having kidney issues. Dr Pracilla is a internal medicine doctor who specializes in these conditions. We truly feel so thankful for this place. So far our pups have needed a lot do tests to help diagnose them. We have fixed a lot of what they are dealing with and still doing some more test but we are on the right track. This stuff just takes time between changing diets and waiting on test results but we are getting there! We drive from San Diego and we would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great vet! You can trust these doctors. They are all very honest and they truly care about your animals. Dr Pracilla speaks great English and there is a very nice receptionist that speaks great English as well. Extreamly upset took my daughters dog for eye surgery and she was almost killed and left with a brain damage she had already had her first eye removed a year ago with no problems at all with another vet in Tj decided to try them because my previous vet recommended me to them for some eyedrops when we had problems with the first eye decided to give them a try because they're super close to the border and I started recommending a lot of people. I wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing so I wanted to give it a try. Worst thing I had done should've gone back to the same vet that operated her the first time. Another thing I asked if they can tell me who did the surgery and the girl that gave me my dog back told me that she didn't know who did the surgery how are you not going to know it's obvious that they know. we asked the girl if she knew why the first time she had no complications and this time she had this problem and she started giving attitude and super unprofessional getting all offended because we were asking they decided to keep my dog five days extra they didn't know how to explain correctly when I picked her up, she had a diaper on and was completely irritated around her privates read more

I've been coming here for the past 5 years and I am ALwAYS impressed by their level of care and professionalism at an 1/8 of the regular cost of seeing a vet stateside. AND they are right off of the Sentri line so for those of you with Sentri you can drive in and out in a matter of minutes. Plus there are great places to eat and shop while your beloved fur baby is being properly treated. They're following all COVID restrictions and make you feel super safe. It's a big NO! They took my pup away for an hour, ran tests without telling me, tried to charge me double (they said it was an emergency visit while the scheduled appointment was next day at 4pm), and bluntly told me that they they will put a note on our account not to provide us good treatment going forward. They don't allow you to go with your puppy claiming covid protocols (it's November 2022), and never ask for permission when performing tests. However; you don't know what they are doing, as your pup is completely out of your eyesight. They used to be good, but now they are rude and money focused. Feels like a factory. My 9yr old chihuahua mix developed a little lump on her chest and I took her to the vet here in the states and they told us she needed surgery right away and once the surgery was done they would let us know if it was cancer or not. They were charging us an arm and a leg and I had heard of Hospivet thru TikTok and decided to go for a 2nd opinion. So happy we waited to go to TJ, they saw us right away and it turns out the little lump was just a lump of fat and my fur baby can live with it and no surgery needed. This place saved my dogs life they treated her as their own and not just a patient she came in with an obstruction from eating a hexagon shaped rubber ball , the doctor was very well experienced and knew what they were doing prior to bringing her in I had an emergency visit hours before in a VCA in Cali and they did x-rays as well and only found two rubber pieces and quoted me 9k for emergency surgery something seemed off so I grabbed my baby and drove straight to TJ that night I arrived in the morning and they worked on her immediately took X-rays did blood work before surgery to assure no complications and they found way more rubber pieces on the X-rays than the doctors here in VCA Santa Monica did some in her stomach and large intestines they had her in intensive care post surgery for 5 days sent home with medication all of that all for not even a fourth of the very ridiculously expensive surgery cost VCA quoted me. I'm so thankful this place exists they are absolutely angels on earth thanks to them I was able to afford saving my girls life now here she is celebrating her 2nd birthday read more
