(After dreading the owner's reply, I had to change the review to 1 star. I started reading all past reviews on Google and Yelp and you can clearly see the attitude through all her responses. This confirms my dog was really depressed from the grooming experience. Dog owners- please trust your dogs more than fake people out there.) Update: the next day I checked again and realized 2 of my dogs'' ears hairs were not even groomed at all. They barely just cut off the part where you can easily cut off and leave the bushy/hard to clean part as they are. Horrible! I know they won't refund my money but I want to make sure people see this review so they won't throw away their money here. The dogs were mostly shaved down and not really any grooming at all but was charged full grooming prices for 3 dogs. I asked for poodle head top but they were basically shaved off. One of the dog's ears hair length were cut short but had chunks of uneven long pieces. The dogs were covered with dusts on their skin so I don't think they were shampooed at all. The dogs ears' hairs were groomed this time because I had to ask. My 3 dogs look so ugly after the groom just in time for the holiday. The tips were also automatically default to 25% so I paid $370 for 3 dogs to be shaved down with uneven chunks, not fully cleaned skin plus they all look horrible for the holidays. You can tell the groomers are not experienced then they shouldn't charge me full price. My female dog is a hyper dog but she came home depressed and slept all day. Poor baby. read more

They have implemented without notice that your charged a fee if you don't pick up your dog in the window which is an hour after they are done. A bull s**t Doggy day care fee. Where they just leave your dog in a cage.. Firstly the sign at the counter says if your late they will charge you $8 for 4 hours. Today I was charged $16!! And I was texted at 11:30 am so I picked up my dog right at 2 pm!! I'm sure they will change the sign now I am writing this! You can't expect for someone to pick up their dog within 1 hour of grooming when you don't tell them when they will be done. Especially during lunch time. Do not bring your pet here! I've been bringing my dog here for awhile now, but his latest visit in Sept. 2019 changed that completely. He got a deluxe groom as usual with a haircut, bath, and the expression of the glands. He wasn't showing any unusual signs of inflammation or irritation on his rear end when we left the groomer, but within 4-5 days, his rear gland was completely inflamed (about the size of a golf ball). We had to rush him to two animal hospitals late Thursday night. The doctor confirmed that my dog's rear gland was about to rupture and something like this most likely occurs from a grooming that wasn't done properly. Even his vet confirmed this. I sent the owner of Hot Dog Grooming, Diana, a furious email the next day with the doctor's notes and the hospital bill. She tried to blame me and point the finger at me when she was the one to be held responsible? After that email, she was unresponsive to my phone calls. She only reimbursed me for the grooming, but not the entire hospital bill. She is not to be trusted with your dog at all. read more

Extremely RUDE! The first time I called and asked about pricing the first thing that comes from the chicks mouth is the prices are online. I'm rather tech savvy and normally I go online for pricing before I ever call. However every time I go online the website is not working so I was forced to call. The first time I took my Pom was for a bathe. It was mainly to see if he liked them. It appeared he did but he came back a little aggressive. He was barking at everything in site. That's not like him. Normally, he's super friendly. I asked them to expose his anal glands and trim down the hair on his stomach. The guy told me it'll be extra. I was okay with paying it; however, when I got home I noticed it hadn't been done. After that experience, I was looking for another groomer, but I decided to call today just to check the pricing of a full groom. Tried using the website it wasn't working from both yelp and google. The first thing she says after I asked the price is the prices are on the website. Clearly, if I could access the website, I would've went there first. So, I told her I've called once before and she said the same thing and I tried going online but the website wasn't working for me from either yelp or google. While I'm saying this she's talking all over me saying well if you called the last time I told you that it's still the same as I said before. At this point, I started to hang up in her face. She could've just said the price and proceeded to tell me afterwards for my convenience the prices are listed online. There's tons of groomers all over Houston and they're not even the best. I took our dog here for the first time last year and while the owner had/has as funky stank attitude, I let it slide and assumed she was just overwhelmed or having a bad day. The job done was impeccable. When I brought him in a second time, same stank attitude from owner, he threw up at their door out of fear and sheer terror. I had to drag him in. I thought it was just something he ate and just let it go. When I brought him back a third time, same reaction from my dog, minus the vomit. He was violently shaking at their door out of absolute terror. I decided absolutely NOT and we left immediately. I live in the area, so today I popped in to ask if I could purchase a roll of paper towel since my husband borrowed car this morning amid the coronavirus epidemic vs riding the bus, thus my not being able to drive to a store. The three I walked to were either out or closed. The front desk rep couldn't even have human decency and compassion enough to offer a few sheets. Even though I offered to pay. Just, honestly evil. I have been going to this establishment for years. Diana's concern and consideration of my dogs were phenomenal and I grew to really care about Diana and the salon and felt safe leaving my dogs there. Diana's family grew and she was not there as often and things began to change. Bear in mind that I used to live basically across the street from Hot Dog and 3 years ago moved to a completely different side of town but made the trek to Hot Dog for my dogs baths and grooming. The last time I took my dogs in for grooming something happened that was not the end of the world but really disturbed me and I wanted to discuss it with Diana. When they brought my dogs out to the car I failed to notice that one of my 12-year-old dog's front paws was actually through the head opening (along with her head) of her harness and did not notice until I got them out of the car at home. I had to cut the harness off of her. I called to tell Diana what happened and to warn her to be careful even when she is busy because that could have resulted in something worse. I gave the girl who answers her phone the story because suddenly Diana was not there. The response I received was about as uncaring as could be imagined. The response was "well, we groom thousands of dogs and things happen". She did not ask once if my dog was okay. I was upset when I called. I was furious by the time I hung up. I called and called and left message after message for Diana but never received a return call. Yesterday I showed up at the location and was told by the same girl who was behind the call that made me so angry that Diana had a family emergency and had not been in in weeks. I tried to explain to this girl how poorly she handled the calls and her response was "I said what I have been taught to say by my superiors". Really???? She then told me I could talk to Diana's husband, Daniel, who is the general manager and gave me his phone number. I called and go voice mail so I left a message. No response. So after many years of loving this dog grooming salon and the owner, I will not go back. I hope that Diana is okay. I worry that I could never get in touch with her. If she is okay, she should have simply handled this and we would never have gotten to this point. At the very least, she needs someone at the front desk who understands the word "empathy". read more

i think i have found my forever groomer for my doggo! i used to take my dog to get groomed at petsmart until he came home with a super deep cut on his leg, so i never went back. hot dog grooming however is very good with my dog. the moment you walk in, the waiting area is super cute and feels very welcoming. the employees is very nice. i like that they show me pictures and ideas of how i would like my dog to be groomed. at petsmart, they would always shaved my dog instead of styling him, so he comes home looking like a rat, but here they style and cut him very nicely. i always get the full package they offer which includes, cut, groom, bath, cleaning of ears, and nail filing. my dog was long overdue for a grooming, yet they managed to clean him up very nicely in a reasonable time all for only $50 (not including tip)! i am highly satisfied with this place. depite it being a far drive from my house, i will gladly take my dog back from now on! read more

I've been bringing my Goldendoodle, Cairn and Shihtzu mix here I just realized for over 2 years. This made me realize I really need to recommend this groomer! They have always followed my directions and the dogs look great. One of my dogs can be a crazy nipping nightmare and they have succeeded in grooming him and he had been able to be more calm when getting groomed. I was sooo excited to bring my dog here for a bath and dremel nail trim but was sadly disappointed. I spoke with Diana the day before my appointment and I was so impressed with her customer service I knew for sure I was bringing him to the right place. When I asked how much the total would be she quoted me $60 but would give me a $5 dollar discount since it was my first time. I was extremely grateful because I am used to spending around $65-75 at PetSmart and feel that is too much for a basic bath. My dog's nails also grow extremely fast so I need a groomers that I can bring him in bi-weekly. She had asked me his weight and I told her about 55-60 pounds. When I brought him in he weighed 64 pounds and because of his weight class my new total was $75 (without tip). I let the gentlemen who checked me out know that Diana (who turns out is the owner) assured me it would be $55. He went in the back to speak with her and she didn't even have the decency to come out and speak with me personally but said it will remain $75 because of his weight. My dog enjoyed his time here. The staff was super friendly and he was taken care of. However, he did not enjoy the shampoo that was used. He literally scratched himself so bad from the top of his head to his nose that it was bleeding. I had to take him to the vet and spend $150 for a cortisone shot and pills to get rid of the reaction. I paid $50 to have him groomed, and I thought because the price was a little high for just a wash and dry that the shampoo would be good quality. read more

My Little Dog has a love hate relationship with his groomers, but not this visit. MLD looks best when his coat is shaved and on this visit which was our first, they did not disappoint. His coat needed to be shaved a little shorter and MLD willingly went back to have this done. We will be back for another day at doggie spa day. read more
