I haven't had a seafood boil in years and hot n juicy absolutely delivered! I shared the get your feet wet combo with my cousin and we devoured it all. A pound of crawfish, pound of shrimp plus corn and andouille was perfect. We tried the juicy cajun sauce which the server explained to us was a classic Louisiana seasoning but made with butter instead of oil. It was thick and perfect for dipping! We went on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. Very casual ambiance, be prepared to put your bib on and get messy!

This is exactly what we want when we say we are craving a seafood boil. The seafood came steaming hot. The seafood sauce is that classic garlicky red color with a punchy mix of cajun-style seasonings. When you ask for hot, its actually spicy, which I very much appreciate! Our appetizer of fried calamari was fresh and fried to order. The squid itself was tender, totally worth a try because its so simple yet well done. The place has a classic build with a warm ship interior with kitschy seaside elements. The staff are welcoming even if you have a wait, trust you will feel taken of because they were the most attentive and gave great recommendations! The menu itself is also the best value for good quality seafood boil. Its located in such a good neighborhood of good eats. If you're ever in Adams Morgan, give it a try. It's close to the Metro so you can wheel yourself back home.

This used to be my favorite SPOT! Literally before Seafood boil places started to become popular, I would go here ALL THE TIME lol! Sorry to say , as of lately , everything has gone downhill -Food: Quality is not the same anymore! Shrimp be mushy a lot Drink: I stick to a Corona! The rest is horrible. Need a new bartender!!! -Service: a big turnover with servers ! For some reason, they do not stay long ! A time or two I received awesome service and other times, I get attitudes and no service ! However, I do love their happy hour prices!:)

I love this place for crawfish! I wish I can take the hot and spicy sauce with me home. The service is friendly and fast. It's packed usually so wait it a must. Since the process gets messy, you can take your own disposable cooking gloves. It's worth it!

I'm so thankful that the seasoning had absolutely 0 Old Bay in it. My party of 2 enjoyed the happy hour chicken wings, fried, ettoufee, shrimp basket, The Drool and catfish basket. This establishment has little overhead. Everything is plastic based. There were 2 waiters on staff. The cleanliness is questionable and we had a lot of gnats around the table

Let's start with the good...We came here on a Friday afternoon. We hadn't been here in about 3 years. We were surprised There was no wait, so we were able to be seated right away. Nati was our server, and he was so kind and patient. Excellent customer service. The hot n juicy, mild sauce is still my go-to. Delicious. The black mussels were cooked perfectly. The bad and ugly....#1they DO NOT devein the shrimp (removing the intestinal tract of the shrimp). You literally have to spend time deveining the shrimp yourself. There is a huge taste difference. Trust me. #2 Snow crabs were "market price", which the day we went was $46.99/lb. FORTY-SIX NINETY-NINE a pound. For about 2 clusters? Absolutely unreal. I remember over the years having to wait houuurrrsss at this place to be able to get a table. We used to come here faithfully pre-covid. Why? Because it was the only seafood boil place. Now, there's a boil spot on every corner in the DMV. So for the preparation of the food (specifically the shrimp), the price point, and the spaciousness...I'd definitely stick to my other fav seafood boil spots.

I have always loved this place and hadn't been here in about two years. I finally got to go again and it looks like the menu has changed a lot and the signature "hot n juicy" flavor has changed. The crab legs were cooked to perfection at least. It was good, but honestly not as great as it used to be. I would still eat here.

    Crawfish, so good!

Ate dinner here last night, ordered "The Drool" and was not disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.

Things have changed so so much at Hot N Juicy Crawfish since I first went in 2016. When I first moved to the DMV this was THE only place I went for seafood boil. I've been a few times since 2021, and each and every time the food and overall experience has been lackluster and subpar. The menu has changed so much that there are only two combination options now!!! And neither of them are enticing. This was unfortunately my last visit to Hot N Juicy. The service was bad - we got the wrong order, the cocktails are not great and most importantly the menu and quality of seafood has gone down.

    Rebecca H.

I came here for the seafood boil. I got the Drool experience which came with snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. The seafood was delicious and the hot n juicy sauce definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant itself is pretty casual and they have seating both inside and outside. Overall I had a good experience here.

Been wanting to come to this place for a while, finally tried it and it was delicious. Seasoning was good, not too salty. Would come back again.

    Catfish Po'boy with Cajun fries
    Jafreisy P.

Came here with a group of 9 and little later in the night. I got a Catfish Po'boy while others mostly got seafood boils. My Po'boy was good, but lacked adequate seasoning and salt. Catfish was decently crispy, lettuce and tomato was fresh, and the bread was good.....but as a whole the po'boy could have better solely based on the lack of flavor. The Cajun fries were really good though. Aside from my food everyone agreed it was weird that all of their seafood boil components (like the crab, mussels, etc.) were all split between bags lol. The food runner explained it was because different things cooked at different times; Fair enough--was just thrown off as I've never seen that at any seafood place before. Some of us had ordered margaritas and we all said that it was definitely almost too sweet. We all had different flavors, and I got the mango one. Despite it tasting good they could do with easing their hand of the syrup/puree. The waiter was....eh. And okay waiter. Didn't really visit our table often. No two minute check-ins (despite us needing them a few times) and mind you he only had two other tables. The atmosphere was okay. It's a bit chilly so I'd bring a little sweater or cardigan. The music they play was very random lol. Not sure if they're just trying to cater to everyone but I wish they would just stick to one type of music. I plan on returning to try the seafood boils as my peers liked them, but honestly not rushing anytime soon to do so.

    Shrimp Po' Boys

Pretty tasty shrimp boil restaurant in Woodley Park! I'm a big fan of restaurants like this, especially Lowcountry in Chicago. This restaurant is pretty good too! Really tasty po boys, great shrimp boils, and a fun atmosphere too. (love the bibs!) One place where this restaurant is lacking--and most reviews reflect this--is the service. We had to wait about ten minutes to get seated without anyone greeting us. It was hard to flag down a server too. I would come back here!

But they couldn't have been more welcoming. Truly set the tone right away. The interiors are beautiful--very chic, very date-night energy, though you could make it work for a family meal too. It's one of those places that feels elevated without being intimidating (despite my initial fears). Service was thoughtful throughout. They didn't rush us at all, even when our friend arrived a bit late--and she didn't order food, which sometimes gets side-eye at places like this, but not here. Zero fuss. Drinks were a great start. Solid local beer selection--cold and reasonably priced--and a diverse cocktail menu. My friend's julep apparently packed a serious punch and was excellent. Now, the food. We started with the bread service, and honestly--it slapped. The sweet potato baguette and biscuits were buttery, soft, melt-in-your-mouth good. Didn't even need the fig jalapeño jam or the cream on the side (and that's saying something). The oysters were a bit of a moment--grilled but served on ice, which threw us off for a second. Hot meets cold is a choice. But garlicky oysters with cheese? I'm not about to complain. For mains, we had the pork chop, catfish, and collard greens: * Catfish: Pro tip--get a bit of everything in one bite. The broth is on the saltier side, while the fish and other elements are more subtle, so it all balances out together. Really well thought out dish. * Pork chop: Massive. Perfectly fried, but about halfway through it did get a little monotonous. Came with fried Brussels sprouts (could've used more) and a polenta-style base. Solid, just slightly out of proportion with the sides. * Collard greens: Well executed. It's collards--done right, no complaints. We ended with the semifreddo, and I'm very glad we did. Not overly sweet, nicely balanced, and the nuts added great texture. A strong finish. Overall: great service, beautiful space, and very good food. Slight quirks here and there, but nothing that takes away from the experience. And yes--you can show up in a cap and still have a great time.

Because I've not found real Louisiana boudin anywhere else in the DC area, and because of the family's hospitality, I will give them 4 stars. The Jambalaya Shack is a catering business that was present at this past weekend's Breaux Vineyards Cajun Festival. They're from southern Louisiana, and seem to get invited to cater many of their events. They had jambalaya, corn maque choux, and boudin links. Because I was waiting on live boiled crawfish from another vendor, I decided to just share a link of boudin for $5. Their young boy said after I ordered, "Sure! You have to ring the boudin bell!" So I did, while his mother laughed and wrapped up a link for me. She made sure I knew how to eat it (I did), and I asked her if it was spicy or not (she said not at all...probably due to the DC clientele...but that they were good and that they shipped them straight from Louisiana). They also had an assortment of mild Cajun seasonings and hot sauces. It was not the best boudin I've ever had (that one goes to the Boudin King in Louisiana), but it was slightly better than the boudin I can get at the grocery store in Texas (but bigger). The Jambalaya Shack's also had good amounts of little liver pieces in it. I wish I had had hotter seasonings (cayenne chile powder would have been awesome) to spice it up with... I wish I had also tried their namesake jambalaya, but it was the chicken/sausage variety and other than the boudin, I was in the mood for seafood. I do think I was the only person I saw at the festival that tried the boudin (or probably knew what it was). Speaking of seafood, the other caterer's boiled crawfish was bland, and Jambalaya Shack was nice enough to let us have some of their seasonings. They saved the day.
