I'd rate this as a 3.5 if I could too, but since I would recommend this over other Chinatown restaurants I'll side with the 4 for now. Decent food for a decent price of $23 per person, what more can I say? Pick what soup you want your foods cooked in, check off the items you want to eat from a list, dump them in the broth, wait, and feast! Best with a group of four or more. The first time I went I had the Chinese medicinal broth (it's not better, just with herbs thought to aid your digestion). I can't believe they don't have one of these here near me. If you don't know what hot-pot is, its Melting Pot Asian Style with much more choices and so much more tasty. You choose the broth (we got herbal and spicy) and then you tick off what you want on a sheet. You take the uncooked food and dunk it into the soup until its done and then enjoy! The meat, egg, and vegetables all came out fresh. This place is better going as a group. This is not a typical buffet where you get up and fill your own plate. Instead, they'd give you a sheet to check off whatever you want. I went with my bf first time, didnt know how it works, so we just checked off a few items, thinking after we emptied the plates, they would automatically bring us another sheet, nope, I had to ask for it which made us felt awkward 'cause it looked like we ate so much, but who cares, we give them money so they should give us food lol. 1 star is the lowest I could rate this place, otherwise I would give it 0. I don't know why I keep coming here, as every time I end up here I find myself disappointed in every way possible. The service is terrible, after we were seated and ordered once, the server never came back. This wouldn't be a problem if the place was actually busy. This place also isn't the cleanest, as we walked in a couple bugs were walking across the table we were about to be seated at. The price is also definitely not worth it. I am not going to write much so this is what happened as we parked our car and walked towards the HOT pot place i went pass a Japanese hot pot place named Shabu Zen which was smelling awesome since i had to go check the menu out and then when i went in the Hot pot place it smell weird not bad but weird. So my mind kinda got stuck on Shabu Zen So we ordered our food and only got veggies and not meat. concept wise it is nice , we go the mala broth which quite spicy and very tasty. The veggies and noodles were of good quality. Problem is i cant decide if i liked or not . Though not going back there again for one reason and that is price. 51.00 bucks for two for veggies only is very steep so next stop is def shabu zen which is half the cost though it is not unlimited like Hot pot. Good food but poor service. My waitress walked by me multiple times and didn't stop by. I had to get up myself to grab the order sheet (4 times!). Each time we ordered --- they brought out like half the things we selected. (Each time 2 meat and 1 veggie - despite that we ordered like 6 meats and 3 veggies - which is why I had to grab an order sheet 4 times). Our hot pot sauce ran out and she walked by multiple times without refilling it. Finally, we were done and we asked for the check. I waited about 30 min before we got out check. I went there with some friends, it was all of our first time at this place. The food was good and the staff was friendly but the service was as mediocre. More than halfway through our meal I notice a roach was on our table and crawls over our silverware and up my can of soda. We were all displeased and disgusted to the point we didn't finish our food. We alerted our waiter who nonchalantly walked to my seat and smushed the roach and walked away. About 20 minutes go by of us not eating and waiting to see the manager. If you just want to eat a lot, and are less sensitive to flavor, here is a great place. But no matter the hot pot or Korean barbecue, they are all so-so. I have been to this place for twice. Few things I do not like: 1. the dipping sauce is so bad.... they use the same sets of dipping sauces for both hot pot and barbecue. Come on, if you do not have a nice broth. The dipping sauce is the KEY to satisfying/tricking hungry stomachs. 2. Some of the side dishes (appetizers) are no fresh.... I love wood ears. But their wood ear appetizer may have been in the fridge forever, the wood ears are hard and had no flavor. goodness, do not try that. 3. I think there are plenty of buffets (good buffets) in Boston. In here, the flavor really does not match the price. Things that are good: 1. Huge space. Three floors in Chinatown, each floor is huge. You can see how profitable hot pot business is in Boston in the early years. If you do not like to wait and want to be close to downtown. here is great! 2. the raw materials are quite fresh. I've been here three times so far in 2023 and I'm always polite, but I find that I always get looked down upon when I enter. This is due to racial differences but I still understand and I don't hold that against them. Frankly, I'm okay with being treated however as long as the food is great and I am charged fairly. This restaurant will upcharge if you are not Asian, will refuse to bring out all the food you asked for, and mock you for asking for spicy broth, or plum juice (my personal experiences). Most recently, I was charged over 80 dollars for just myself and my friend for hot pot. We just asked for one order of chicken, imitation crab, spam, cuttlefish balls, cilantro, and a couple of other things, but we were only given a few of what we asked for (mind you we only can eat around one round, we are petite [and we don't waste food]). I tried many times to support this business instead of going to a larger chain-type but I think this was the final slap in the face. I hope that other people can have a positive experience here but I have not. Like I said, I don't care how I am treated as long as I am receiving the food I am asking for and that I am not being unfairly charged. However, this establishment not only treats people outside their race like crud, but they also refuse to give you food, and WAY upcharge you. I went here earlier today and the service was just awful. The waiter did not refill the water I always had to call him for something, not once did he ask how everything is and on top of that the waiter forced me to tip him. So I feel like I am not obligated to tip if the service was bad, I did not tip him anything after I put down the check he ran over to the check, looked and ran over to me and forced me to tip. I can see why this place has mixed reviews, but I've been here a few times and each time I've had a pleasant experience. The first time I came was after a Pats Super Bowl parade. It was super busy as there were so many people who came after the parade. The staff did the best they could do, and was as attentive as you can expect them to be. You really just need to understand the difference between servers that are bad and servers that are busy due to an influx of customers. The second time I came was around midnight, after a Celtics game. This time wasn't as busy, so the service was excellent. Onto the food - there's a huge variety on the menu. You have the option of selecting from different broths (you can even choose two broths and they split the pot). The broths are merely okay in my opinion - they could be more flavorful. The spicy broth is my favorite. There are different kinds of meats, veggies, seafood, and the sauce is delicious. AND IT'S ALL YOU CAN EAT! The prices are great for what you get (especially lunch pricing). I live about an hour away and I'd much rather drive here for hotpot than try a sub par place. read more

They do not give you the option to make your own sauces like most places do and they instead provide you with a type of peanut/soy sauce concoction. The food can take a while to come and you have to constantly ask them for additional sheets. Often times, they would not bring out everything that was on the sheet. With so many better hot pot places in the area, I probably would not come back again. The food wasn't overly fresh, the broth wasn't anything special, service was slow, and price was mediocre. Great spot for all you can eat HP! The place is always packed and busy. The waiting time isn't all that long. Their Korean BBQ part isn't that great. It's more of a Chinese fusion. But hey, it's unlimited meat so I can't really complain about that. Their HP dipping sauce is the best sauce around. I love their prime sirloin and even better that it's all you can eat. Okay, let's get down to business. As much as I would love to give this staple restaurant of Chinatown a 5-star review, I think they only deserve a 3-star. My group and I were extremely lucky to have came in before 4PM (that's when they start charging dinner prices). With that being said, lunch was pretty cheap, should've been less than $18 per person, but we ended up paying $20 per person because tip was added in. In my opinion, I don't think they deserved that much tip, because of the service we got. After we ordered and got our food items, we still had to wait an extra 10 minutes for our drinking water. That should've been given right away. I usually stay away from water at Asian restaurants, in fear of things floating around in my cup, and that fear came true. There were bits and pieces of things in my water, and I stopped drinking my water after that. We also weren't given the same plating, meaning that one table got all the utensils, while my table didn't, even though we had asked for them. The wait staff wasn't that great, and they seem to ignore most requests that you have when it came to refilling drinks/broth/food items. As for the food, it was average, nothing that made me want to order more and more. The vegetable portions were huge, especially the Chinese Broccoli, too big. The plus side of it was that we didn't have to finish everything, like of the other buffets where they make you finish all your food or else you pay double. Overall, my experience was meh this time around. But if you're craving for some hot pot, and you're in the area, this would be the place to go to. It is decently priced, but if you're being cheap like I was today, you get what you pay for; decent food, gross water, and horrible service. 3/5 read more

One of the best services in Chinatown. They are very considerate and treat you as a valuable patron. There are 3 floors that you can dine in. The choices for hot pot is great as well as the soups.
