Came for the dishes instead of hotpot this time and they did not disappoint. All the plating was great and the waiters were attentive making sure we had everything. One dish I would recommend is Xi'an Cold Rice noodles, it's an appetizer but was on par for a dish. The proportion was on the larger side and it had a perfect spice, all I have to say was it was delicious and for $9.95 you cannot go wrong. The dan dan noodles were good, but I would say the cold noodles were better. The golden buns were also great, a classic dish that is always loved with a great crisp. We did get the wrong sushi roll, unsure if they misheard us or if they thought we pointed to a different one but I'm glad they did because the Thunder Roll was delicious. I think it was the yellowtail that was on top that tied everything together, it was just really good. I've never....EVER....been WOW'd by a Chinese restaurant as much as I was WOW'd by Q Restaurant. We were recently in Boston for a couple days and were looking for a restaurant with good Chinese food. The concierge at the hotel had one recommendation: Q Restaurant. The five of us made our way to Q, not having the slightest idea what to expect. It was a Friday evening so we naturally anticipated having to wait for a table. We didn't. We were taken right in and seated towards the back of the restaurant and almost immediately greeted by our server, Johnny. Johnny was, in a word, AbsolutelyFreakingAwesome. He was funny, he was helpful, he helped us navigate the GINORMOUS menu...and he was generally very cool. He also kept our drink refills filled. I'm not exaggerating when I say the menu was ginormous. I'm guessing 12 pages with every possible kind of Chinese(ish) food you can think of. Sushi. Hot Pots, Traditional Chinese. Sashimi's (I'm always glad I don't have lisp when I write that word). Dumplings...everything. There were five people in our party and we can be a handful. Just deciding on an appetizer can be a task, so we ended up with 3 or 4 that we shared amongst us. For my entrée I decided on Beef with Hot Peppers (not knowing how hot those peppers were going to be). I don't recall what everyone else had. Johnny said that the Beet with Hot Peppers was his favorite item on the menu. Our entrees came out about ten minutes later and everything looked and smelled absolutely delicious. I couldn't wait to dig into my entrée. Chopsticks in hand, I dug right now. Yea...those peppers were, indeed, hot. VERY hot. Good, but VERY hot. The beef was very tender and tasty. I could handle some of the peppers, but not all...and that's saying something because I LOVES me some hot peppers. Our entire party loved our entrees and we had an absolutely awesome time during our visit to Q. I haven't went here for a while and few weeks ago, I notice their happy hours (buy a drink and get two appetizer for half price). I believe it was 4-6 everyday or weekday. (check with them.) The overal experience was great! but bar only for happy hour. That said, I checked their menu and they have GuiZhou soup base in which I was surprised because I was at Guizhou last summer and I love their sour soup base hotpot. I decided to tried it today with friends. We were mostly chatting plus its been a while so I cant quite tell if it is authentic. That said, one thing for sure, quality was great! The only down side is they don't have that unique beef from Guiyang to match the Guiyang Soup base. The meat and selection may not be exclusive but pretty good quality. Oh and even they are not buffet style, the time for dining is still one and half hour. We were sitting at the booth area. I like it but it is a bit small for me. This was my boyfriend and I first time getting hot pot! We did this on the whim around 8:30. The host squeezed us in and sat us at the counter top which was fine with us!! A reservation is recommended! You could see the chefs making the sushi! Everything smelled amazing. The waiter we had was so helpful!! He explained what broth was and what it was used for. Went for lunch, my daughter got 3 hand rolls which were very good. They have a system where they have plastic wrapping in the hand rolls and it is removed before you eat in order to keep the seaweed crispy. Very appreciated and well thought out. Though it's important to note that the validated parking is cash only, but it's good for 4 hours, which is much longer than we spent here. We had two broths, one spicy, and one herbal. Came here on a weekday for a work happy hour with a reservation, however the place was pretty empty around early evening time - we probably could've done without the resy, but it was nice having a guaranteed table. The ambiance felt very modern, sleek, and clean - definitely felt upscale as well. The menu had a good mix of various Asian dishes; we didn't get hotpot, but I've heard pretty solid things. We ended up going with their happy hour-esque deal which was discounted apps as long as we ordered enough drinks - with a large party, that was pretty easy. We got a sushi boat as well as several appetizers which made it very easy to fill up. Everything was very solid. I enjoyed all of their appetizers - my favorite was probably the scallion pancake and crab rangoons. Sushi was also very good, albeit a bit expensive. This was the perfect place for us, since it had hot pot, sushi, and other asian dishes to meet all our cravings, and managed to execute well on all of them. We started with the sashimi sampler (7 pieces for $15), which was fresh, delicious, and a great texture. Would recommend. We also got the spicy cold noodles starter, which was cooked to the perfect soft texture with spongy tofu and flavorful spicyness. Would recommend. For hot pot, we got 1/2 clear basic broth and 1/2 guizhou red suantang, which was a spicy tomato-based broth. It was definitely pricier than all-you-can-eat hot pot places, but the ingredients were good quality and delicious. Would recommend. I made a reservation but wasn't hungry enough for the hot pot so we sat at the bar instead. The bartender was super friendly and quickly asked us what we would like and gave us our waters. I got the Mai tai to start and we ordered tofu pad thai with no sprouts and the steamed soup dumplings. The food runner brought out the pad thai with sprouts and the bartender quickly sent it back to make it right. The Mai tai was tasty and pretty. The soup dumplings were nice and juicy. The pad thai however, was not very good. As you can see in the photo, there was next to no sauce. There was a tiny bit all the way at the bottom. I definitely don't recommend the pad Thai. For my next drink, I got the Lychee-tini which was slightly sweet and lychee fruity. The bartender recommended I get the Dragon Lotus as his favorite drink and I'm so glad I took his recommendation.
