Love Hot Pot? This is the place. I'm an avid hot pot fanatic, this is one of the few areas in the IE that meets the standard. You will find an easy-to-follow line that provides all ingredients necessary to create a delicious soup. You can even customize your drink with toppings (boba, lychee, and jelly) this is all great and delish! I will say, $18 per pound of food is quite easy to lose track of, choose your ingredients wisely! One of my family's go to spots in the Ontario area! Building our own hot pots is always so much fun, and I love how everyone can get a meal customized to their tastes and preferences, with preset options too. The BYO boba bar also looks cool, though I've never tried it. I liked how the hot pots are served on the burners so that the food and broth stays warm and fresh throughout the entire meal, unlike most malatang places that serve it in a bowl. I would suggest you order off the menu but I am picky so it was a nice place to be able to order a diy hot pot for myself and my husband order off the menu. Broth was flavorful. Wish the self serve station had more options to pick from that the other preset menus have for example lamb meat and certain veggies, but overall the fish balls and pork was good. Also I wish they had regular sized eggs and not quail egg. I loved that you could sample all the different teas that is self serve. Only thing I didn't like was that servers didn't really check on you and when we first got there felt a little ignored and it was our first time and nobody was explaining how the self serve option worked or attended to us. This is one of my first times leaving a review because I normally only do in a really good or really bad situation. And this place is SOOOOO good. I their broths are amazing and all food is cooked to perfection! You have a choice between build your own (which i got) or a pre-set pot for people looking to try some new things. Our pots were cooked super fast which was perfect after getting our drinks. WHICH ARE ALL YOU CAN DRINK!! As someone who drinks more tea than eats rice, this just became my favorite spot. This is a good place to create your own hot pot and boba drink. This time we got the sukiyaki and the miso hot pots with 3 create your own drinks. The combo man was about $20 a person which was ok. The create your boba is a great value as the drink was pretty big and you could mix and match your toppings and drinks. The hot pot was pretty standard and would meet your craving for it. I liked it. A slightly different kind of hot pot place. You can either build your own pot and you'll be charged by the weight. Or they have a nice choice of preset hot pots. They put a little flame canister under the pot to heat it up. Unfortunately there's no way to turn it down so if it gets too hot you can just ask them to put the flame out. My friends made their own, but I got the preset Lamb hot pot. It was good! A good portion amount. I finished it but I can see 2 lighter eaters sharing one pot. The broth was very tasty. I only got the mild but it still had a little spice to it. Will probably get medium next time. They also have a neat little boba station where you can make your own. Hot Pot Mini Workshop was a cool experience but nothing that really wowed me. This place is similar to Boiling Point, Tasty Pot, Red Flame, and ZZ Hotpot. The only difference is that you can build your own. You can choose the ingredients that goes in it or you can just pick one of their creations. We choose to make our own. All of their ingredients are located by the register. They had most veggies and most of the popular meatballs. For meats, I remember them having pork, beef, fish, and shrimp. Many of the items were frozen. They also had ramen and your meal comes with either rice or vermicelli. There is a minimum order of one pound. A pound is $16.99. I had a hard time filling up my bowl because a pound was much more than I can eat. But I took quite a bit home after I was full. There were a variety of broths to choose from and you can pick your level of spiciness. I went with the Taiwanese spicy flavor with mild spice. It was good but I wish I got it spicier and I wish it had a little more flavor. The pork and beef meat I got were chewy and tasted too lean for my liking. But everything else was cool. Pricing was affordable. Oh, and they do charge extra if you want more rice. Our food came out quick after being cooked. They bring it out to you with a flame underneath that they can put out if you like. Parking was easy since there is a lot out in front. read more

My friends and I came here primarily for the DIY boba station. They had a buy 2 get 1 free deal when we went which worked out perfectly for my group of 6! This was my first time going to a place like this so the concept was interesting and fun to be able to pick your own flavors of tea and toppings! There aren't the most tea flavor options but they do have all the solid ones and you could mix anything together and try any combinations you'd like. You fill up your cup and go back to the counter for them to seal it up for you! The tea itself was decent but for the price and how much you get, I'd say it's worth the try and we got no ice as well so we would get a more bang for our buck! Tip is to not actually make your own pot cause it'll cause a lot more than when you order the premade ones and just order extra sides. Good food and good service. They can be slow in general but are very nice about it when you follow up. It's a small place so it can get crowded quick. They have ceiling fans that bother me cause the lights flicker. Always use their garlic sauce for dipping! Their garlic sauce is not super consistent but always yummy at least! False advertising, they say $17 a pound and has to be 1.2lbs. I was at .92 I had to get more toppings once I added more toppings it came out to 1.26 lbs and I got charged $31. I asked how did it come out to $31 if it was $17 a pound then she says oh it's $21 a pound now, but it's NOT LISTED anywhere. The receipt does not show any breakdown of the charges just one charge and that's it. Please be cautious when eating here. read more

I really enjoyed Hot Pot Mini Workshop's concept, as oftentimes, I feel overwhelmed at AYCE hot pot restaurants. Hot Pot Mini Workshop made it easy for me to pick and pay for only the ingredients I wanted, and they even have promotions from time to time. The hot pot ingredient bar doesn't feature the freshest ingredients, as a lot of them are frozen and the greens tend to be slightly wilted. The ingredient bar is a little cramped and cannot accommodate too many people at once, but the line moves relatively quickly. The boba topping ingredient bar was extensive -- there were multiple flavors of popping boba, jelly, and other toppings. The drink selection was wide as well, and they even provide unsweetened green and black tea to help bring the sweetness of the drink bases down. This place has been on my to go list for a while and i'm so happy i had the chance to go! It's tucked away in a plaza before entering the freeway! I love the self serve style! Found Hot Pot Mini Workshop on Yelp! My friend and I "yelped" it in the cold outdoors after a day of snowboarding, after we decided hot pot being a good idea to warm us up! We were so excited for it, and Hot Pot Mini Workshop exceeded our expectations! Everyone was happy. We arrived around 2 pm after the lunch rush so we were seated right away. The team member was very kind in explaining us how to order the menu by 1. Picking a build your own Hot Pot or a pre-set Hot Pot 2. Choosing a side- rice or noodles 3. Adding a drink or not. My friends and I all wanted boba and just so happens- there is a buy 2 bobas get 1 free deal. She was so kind enough to suggest that for us and help us save a little money. The build your own concept for boba definitely was fun! You get to pick your own toppings (however many variety of toppings you'd like) and your boba tea (milk or non-milk based). Then, just take it to them to seal it up! My #1 House Special With Fermented Tofu was a winner. It was a satay broth and had all the fun toppings I like in a hot pot. It's definitely one to try! My friends both got the #4 Meat Lover Beef Pot - which is the same as #3 but with MORE meat slices. We both ate all of the hot pot down to the last bite. Everything was amazing! I especially loved the sauce they give you on the side - you can dip all your hot pot items in there for a flavorful kick. I think the concept of quick hot pot, as opposed to all-you-can-eat hot pot is good for those who don't have 2 hrs to waste. I ordered to-go the do-it-yourself hot pot. I chose from about 10 ingredients and placed into a metal bowl to weigh once I was done. You are required to at the very least, get a pound's worth. My first try at weighing had me coming up short of the 1lb so I added a few more beef slices. I didn't get a photo of the "buffet" area, but from what I can remember they had: cabbage, bok choy, frozen tofu, some kind of green leaf, dried ramen noodles, fish ball, seafood, corn on cob, and shrimp, pork, and beef freeze-dried slices. Not very many options if you are vegetarian. I chose the medium spicy soup base. They took my bowl and proceeded to "cook" it in the back. I probably wouldn't get the noodles again because by the time I got home, they were soggy from sitting in the hot broth. It would have been nice if they gave you the broth in a separate container, so that you can add your ingredients to it once you arrive at your destination. I ordered two drinks. They have a special where you can buy 2 (Lg) drinks and get the 3rd free. The size of the cups are great. They are huge, which makes the prices understandable. You get to choose your own toppings, such as: boba, crystal boba, brown sugar boba, egg pudding, popping boba, jellies of all types and flavors, etc. then you chose your drink (no refills) from a wall of about 6-7 different fruit teas and milk teas. The flavor of the soup was lacking. Didn't really have much depth of flavors. The spiciness was just right at medium. The vegetables were cooked well, but the 20-minute drive probably made them more wilted than I'd like. The beef slices really took on the flavor of the soup base, which I thought made them tasty. I think that I was to go again I'd get more meat and less vegetables. read more

Do NOT eat at this restaurant! Terrible service and zero responsibility! I ordered takeout from this place, and it was a complete disaster. First, their soup was so hot that it melted the plastic lid, causing the soup to spill all over the bag. When I told them, they refused to take responsibility or offer any solution. To make things worse, I ordered a hot pot, but because the soup had spilled, I basically ended up with a hot pot without any soup. And yet, they still wouldn't admit their mistake or do anything about it. How does a restaurant mess up this badly and not even try to fix it? Absolutely unacceptable! We walked in there as first customers thinking that the food would great and excited to eat because we were starving. Hostess that's working told us to step outside because it's dangerous to stay in there because it's hot. She asked us how many people and we said 4 but she clearly sees that there are 4 of us and I'm carrying a baby. We waited a while and they even seated an 11 person party before us when that party is not even complete! Even with that experience we still decided to wait because we wanted to try the place and trying to be optimistic. The same hostess called our name and looked like she barely saw us for the first time. She pointed at the baby and said that "Oh! You have a party of 5" What?!? She's the same lady that saw all 4 of us. She started explaining that we can't do that and we have to put 5 for our party. That human being is tiny! She's not even going to eat! We've been to countless restaurants with this same baby and we never had to add her as a part of our party. My mom was starving so she's already mad.
