Hot Pot Mini Workshop may become one of my favorite hot pot places! There were plenty of tables, and the inside is nice and clean. Came on a Saturday for lunch around when they opened (11:30am) and was the first to be seated. The waitress who helped us was sweet and explained how the diy works for the drinks. My party got the premade hot pots, which were the sukiyaki pot and the beef pot. Our hot pots came pretty quickly, during the waiting time I went to fill up my drink that came as a combo. There were many different choices, but I decided on the guava lychee slushy, which was so good, the lychee and guava complemented each other perfectly. You can also add your own toppings and how ever much you want, but I didn't since I just wanted a slushy. I also liked how big the cup is even for a small (24oz), and the price was very reasonable for that ($4.49) since a lot of drink shops are expensive nowadays. For the pot, I got the sukiyaki pot, which I liked a lot, the soup wasn't too salty and was sweet! The soup was also very hot. The udon that comes with it was chewy, and the beef was soft unlike some other hot pot places where the meat is dry. There was a good amount of beef too and I liked everything that was included in the pot, like the egg and blood sausage. The beef pot was good and flavorful as well! I would say the portion is just enough for one person, as I was very full after finishing my hot pot. I came here on a weekday with a friend and got the House Specialty Pot and build your own boba. Our food arrived promptly and the portions were pretty large. There was a variety of hotpot ingredients and the broth was pretty light. I also enjoyed the build your own boba- I got a fruit tea blend and liked the wide assortment at the toppings bar. Staff was also friendly and tended to our needs almost immediately (which could've also been because there were only two other parties with us). The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, and since the hotpot comes out on a self-heating raised pan, there isn't too much of an issue with the smaller tables. That being said, I feel like $18 is a bit pricey for hotpot and I have had richer/better seasoned broth around the SGV area. But if you are in the IE/Ontario area, this place is worth checking out! read more

This place is really good! I was actually shook by how good it was and would definitely be back! First off, they have a lot of hot pot options to choose from. They use to have sukiyaki broth but not anymore. You can choose from set pots or do a self serve option where you choose your own toppings and broth and pay by weight. Both are good options! It just depends on what you like. They also have self serve boba which is a huge plus!! They have some deals too like buy 2 drinks get 1 free or buy 2 pots get a drink free or something like that. That does depend on which day though. I ordered the curry pot which was quite good. Flavorful and had a lot of toppings. I did feel that there was less meat than many other hot pot places but that's okay. Price is decent considering you can choose your own toppings and self serve drinks. I had the Taiwan spicy. I had it extra spicy. It wasn't super spicy but very flavorful. Also got the combo and got the large winter melon boba. You can add as many toppings as you want with the boba. The winter melon tea was delicious. Just a too bit on the sweet side for me, but it was good. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Food came out fast. Not too long of a wait. The restaurant was clean. My only suggestion is park on the other side near Daphnes. There's a drive thru at Daves Hot Chicken and it causes traffic and might be difficult in backing out. The hot pot toppings were charged by pound. It was a bit confusing when we first enter but the server was able to help us out. I opted for the preset #1 with fermented tofu and pork slices. It was delicious! We also got the lamb pot and it was also excellent. Used to love boiling point but this place is so much better and more authentic (ex bp worker here lol). My favorite pot is the duck pudding pot, this is the only place that I can find good duck pudding, the duck pudding from other places are dry, stiff, and has a weird scent, whereas the ones here are jiggly like the ones in Taiwan. Also love the instant noodle here, they just taste DIFFERENT with more texture and egg flavor. Also, this place used to have customizable boba boba milk tea station, but sadly they got rid all the toppings now. HOWEVER, you still get a variety of options for the milk teas like Thai tea, milk green tea, milk tea, slushies, taro milk tea, etc. My go-to is the milk green tea and milk tea, they have a very unique flavor that I only tasted in Taiwan (another authentic flavor from Taiwan) . You can also build your own hot pot by chosing the ingredients you want and the quantity. They charged per pound. The self serve is clutch if you're like my mom and don't eat vegetables at all (smh). It's a minimum of 1 lb for self serve so fill up! You can take your leftovers home. I cannot believe how amazing this place is!! I had wanted to come here a few times but got intimidated by the word "workshop" . I didn't know what that meant and was afraid of finding out. I've had this place 3 times in the past month. So, I guess you know where this review is going...its delicious! I've ordered by phone and your food is ready in 10-20 mins. I've had the beef and lamb pot. Both are flavorful. If you are looking for a more regular pot then I suggest the beef. The lamb came with intestines. The pot is full and filling. I have not eaten here pre-covid so I am not sure if the portions are the same. You also get free boba during their promotion! Customer service is quick and good. The only odd thing is that I was given a coupon to return within a week and you get $2 off so I did that and handed her the coupon and she gave it back to me saying it expires tomorrow but she didn't take the $2 off. It was a pretty cold night, and we happened to crave for hotpot. We quickly found this place on Yelp looking for hotpot. The food was not bad, the fermented tofu hotpot almost hit the spot. The tofu wasn't as "stinky" as other Taiwanese hotpot which is a tiny disappointment. Almost all their hotpot comes with beef-base soup. I kind of wished they had some pork bone soup as an alternative. So I got the sukiyaki soup base but it came out a little on the sweeter side. My wife got the veggie soup it was ok not bad. We don't even live that close and yet we always find ourselves going out of our way to grab lunch here! Maybe compared to some big hotpot chains there is not a huuuuge variety of ingredients to add to your pot, but there is still a pretty decent selection. I have no trouble filling up with over a lb of fresh veggies, sliced pork and beef, meatballs, and fish cakes everytime. Today when I went they even had fish fillets. I'm not a quail egg person but my partner says they're good here, unlike at another (very popular) hotpot chain where they tasted old and gross. So, a lot of words to say the ingredients here are great quality. More importantly though is the broths are amazingly flavorful. So good that we ask for to go containers to take them home and make ramen in the leftover soups at home. Don't make fun of me! Highly recommend the tomato and curry broths, extra spicy of course. They are always running some sort of deal for a free or discounted boba with a hotpot purchase, so you can make your own drink afterwards as well. Another tip, fill your cup up with your favorite toppings, go home and pour it out into a bowl, and eat it with a spoon and fresh fruit like a Taiwanese dessert bowl lol. If you'd rather have dessert at the restaurant, the shaved ice bowls are a real bargain. You can get a couple of toppings free of additional charge with bottomless brown sugar syrup and ice. We love the comfortable, quiet, casual atmosphere here. The restaurant is always very clean and service is fast and attentive. Tables are cleaned immediately after customers leave and everyone wears masks and gloves. The waitress is very friendly, kind, and helpful as well. We've really been missing hot pot, especially with our go-to place still closed during the pandemic. Came across this small hot pot joint and decided to give it a try. And we've been coming back ever since. They're located in the Sam's Club plaza by Baja Fresh and across from Holiday Cafe - no issues with parking as the lot is huge. Right now they're doing take-out as well as outdoor dining. No tables are set outside, but if you pop your head in, the workers will get a table situated outside for you right away. Normally they would offer AYCE drinks with their happy hour hot pot pricing (2-5 PM on weekdays). But they're currently offering a 24 oz drink where you can fill with as many toppings as you'd like (with assistance from the worker). Everything is pretty COVID-safe - masks inside at all times. The workers will help you fill up drinks with toppings/tea and bring it out to you, etc. The first time that we visited, they served the hot pots in the to-go containers. Wasn't a great hot pot experience, but we both were craving Taiwanese hot pot. And the bowls came with AYCE rice. But they now give the hot pots in the classic woks with the fire underneath. Since the weather has been cooler lately, eating the hot pot with the soup bubbling has definitely made us super happy. I've tried the beef, picked mustard greens pot with lamb (substituted lamb for another meat), and the sukiyaki (each $12.99). Flavors are all on point with a ton of various ingredients. My favorite for now is the sukiyaki - soup is on the sweeter side, comes with a soft boiled egg, has udon - super tasty to eat with their soft white rice. If you're wanting a bolder, stronger flavor, I'd recommend the beef. You can't go wrong with the classic beef and there's fish balls, meat ball, corn, etc. I also really liked the pickled mustard greens - not a fan of lamb, so I usually substitute for beef or pork. But the flavor of the soup is more mild than beef while the pickled mustard gives some acidity to the overall meal. There have been some times where the meat was already quite dry when coming out of the kitchen, but everything else is so great that we weren't even bothered. They do usually throw in a piece of pork blood, but we usually ask that to be substituted with something else. And what makes the meal more awesome is that every pot comes with a 24 oz drink. Prior to COVID, you were probably able to mix and match teas, etc. But now, they let you try samples before you decide on which tea you'd want. Selections include osmanthus oolong, jasmine green milk, wintermelon, mango green tea, oolong milk, passion fruit green tea, honey green tea, almond milk, and milk tea. There's also some pineapple and strawberry mango juice if you want a dairy free option. And as for toppings - go crazy! Aloe, jellies (coffee, lychee, passion fruit, etc.), grass jelly, egg pudding, almond tofu, rainbow jelly, popping boba, regular boba - possibilities are endless. I've seen some people request a ton of toppings and have barely enough room for tea in the to-go orders. Teas are a little on the sweeter side, so I'd recommend some ice. Usually we're so stuffed from the hot pot that we save the tea for later - a nice treat to have when you're craving something sweet to drink. Jasmine green milk tea is my go-to, but the almond milk and mango green tea aren't too bad either. Not sure if this is a family establishment, but the workers are all super friendly and helpful. They definitely go out of their way to make sure the customers have a good experience eating the food. Really hoping that this business makes it through these times. They offer take-out and delivery as well if you're in the surrounding area. tl;dr - A new hot pot favorite for us in the Ontario area. Sadly have to give this place a two star after my last experience. The price has gone up a lot and the food amount has shrunk, where's my fish at? Either disappeared or swam away. They no longer give out the option for free glass noodles, only rice. So now on top of adding protein and veggies you also have to add the weight of glass noodles which is greedy and unfair. I left feeling hungry and had to hit up the taco spot to fill me up. Definitely not worth $25-$30 per person, better to get AYCE somewhere instead. read more

They had a tea station where they made the drinks free if you dine. I really liked that idea. They let me sample flavors before picking and boba toppings included. The pot is similar to the boiling point. I had the beef hot pot and there was way too many cabbage at the bottom more so than meat which is kind of weird since the name I ordered is beef hot pot. They should really even out the ratio meat to vegetable ratio. There was other stuff like a tofu, beef ball, mushrooms, and a random hot dog sausage. The soup base had great flavors. I'm not a fan of the pig blood that looked like a rice cake so do not forget to ask for substitution if you're the same. They had plastic utensils and disposable wooden chopsticks. We've been long-time customers who have had the unpleasant misfortune to watch a wonderful restaurant spiral to an unnecessary state. I'm guessing success made the owners too comfortable, so they've allowed the uncaring hired help to ruin their business. Tonight was our last visit. First, we were ignored by the staff while we waited to join the queue. There were two groups before us, 4 and 6. We were a party of 2, and there was a small 2 seat table available. My wife politely mentioned this to a hostess who told her, in a rude firm voice, said, "That doesn't matter. We seat people in order. Go wait outside. You can't stand inside." After looking at the sloppy state of the restaurant and unhappy frowns of the three severs, we decided waiting in the cold was better than eating there. Restaurant is very cute and cozy! It's like a subway but for hotpot and boba! You can make a diy hotpot or choose a pre made one from the menu. My girlfriend and I came here for our weekly date night. The place is gay friendly ‍! We were treated very well and felt safe and comfortable. Our server explained everything to us. For a diy hotpot you must fill a large metal bowl with at least 1 lbs of toppings to go into your soup. If you go over 1 lbs then it's extra. You also choose you soup base and the spice level. For boba you can pick from 2 sizes and you can add as many toppings as you like! You can add any teas or slushies. But it has to be able to be sealed. Refills are extra. The sauces are delicious they are at every table. Food comes out very quickly! Ours came out in less than 10 minutes! It is very hot temperature wise. So we used a small bowl to transfer some of the hotpot into. It cools the soup down quickly so you dont burn your tongue! It's makes it easier to eat. We loved this place! We will come again soon! I got the Spicy Beef Pot to-go. It was ok, not bad for the area though. It was more of a clear broth compared to Boiling Point with a good amount of flavor. Decent amount of food and veggies and they for sure didn't skimp on the enoki. Two complaints though - it wasn't even spicy (not even a small kick) and the to-go containers aren't made for soup! The Hot Pot is truly hot, the hostess lights a fire under your plate and your soup starts to bubble. The broth is really flavorful, and the seafood is mixed with vegetables. Tempted to give this place a one star as that would be my honest rating. However, 2 stars here since it's a fairly new and small business struggling amid Covid. Blatantly disappointed with this place from the quality of the food, the teeny amount of ingredients in the hotpot buried in gardens of napa cabbage, the bland and msg filled tasting soup, to the inattentive waiters who accidentally spilled the piping hot soup.
