This place is amazing it's a very fun little course that is easy to play I had a great time with my family and even somehow managed to get a hole in 1 on hole number 11!! If you ever come to Big Bear you need to check this place out it's fun affordable and family friendly!! I highly recommend trying this out even if you're an avid or amateur mini golfer!! For my wife and I this is a must-do. We love the old course. Yes it has seen better days but who hasn't? Friendly, shaded and fun.

We had noticed this cute little course several times and decided to visit. It was not busy at all and a very relaxed atmosphere. The trees looming above provide shade throughout the course and a cozy vibe that you really notice throughout the 18 holes. While some holes are pretty basic, many are quite complex and keep the game interesting. Really enjoyed the time I spent here, I would definitely come to putt putt here again. read more

What a wonderfully fun experience to do miniature golf in such a stunning setting! All the tall, beautiful pine trees surrounding you to block out the days hot sun was perfection. 18 holes and they're all challenging and fun! I thought the greens were kept nice and tidy and found no problem as in some of the other reviews. Karen was just wonderful. Very friendly. Parking can't be challenging on a busy day, but I highly recommend this activity and miniature golf course! So much fun! read more

It's kind of sad, because this place has so much potential! First off, the prices are very reasonable. The parking lot is small, but it's usually not busy there. Being outdoors, they're obviously only open when there's no snow on the ground. Their operating hours are very limited though. The worst part is the condition of the course. There were pine needles and debris EVERYWHERE, and tree roots were disrupting some holes. Again, this place could be so awesome and fun, but it feels like the ownership doesn't really care that much. read more

Great spot! I was worried about the heat but there was plenty of shade and a nice breeze. Teenagers had fun and enjoyed the different levels of difficulty. There are a variety of different colored balls to pick from and variety of putters. 18 holes with a score card featuring helpful hints on the back for each hole. I believe it was $8 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under. Apple Maps shows as temporarily closed but they were open. Karen was so nice and helpful. I would recommend bringing some water. There was a large party ahead of us but we were encouraged to play out of order so we didn't have to wait. Will definitely be back! read more

We visited hot shot mini golf in the early afternoon, (they're open 12-5) and we loved it. It cost $6 per adult, CASH only to play a round. We are always looking for new mini golf places so we knew we had to check it out. The holes had a lot of character and were very challenging. There was plenty of free parking at the location. Unfortunately it started to rain during our game, but we decided to stick it out and we were glad we did. Several other groups stopped playing in the middle of their game, but it didn't rain that long. There are a lot of funny signs along the course and a good mix of holes with hazards that make it challenging. I even got a hole in one on the volcano hole! We'd definitely play another round if we come back to big bear and highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area. read more

Fun and well worth the cost. We had a family outing to play a round and had loads of fun. Some of the holes are a bit worn, but we are not professionals, just a family looking for some fun! Only thing that would have made this better is if they sold ice cream bars for the kids! Would recommend as it's a real value and great fun! read more

We've passed by this golf course many times while we are visiting Big Bear. we decided to give it a go last weekend. From the outside it looks very small and like it doesn't have much going on which is probably why we would pass by it every time but to my surprise the prices were reasonable and the holes were fun. I called the message for Hot Shot and the woman on the recording told me that they stop taking golfers at 5 PM. Our party of nine showed up at 4:37. The young man was loading his truck and said that they were closed because there was already people on the course and it would take too long to finish. There was legitimately three people playing golf and we told him what the message said and he said sorry we're closed and then proceeded to pack up his truck and got in it-Leaving golfers on the golf course. If you're open till 5 PM and you recording says you're open to 5 PM you need to be accurate and honor your time. He also said that since we were a large group he didn't want to wait for us to finish. Came with my significant other (we are mid twenties) and my dog during the summer when we had a few hours to kill before heading out. Second game was discounted, and I literally ended up on the pine-needle floor howling with laughter at my incompetence at hole 3. The owner's were polite and left us to our game. OK, they don't even have a proper scorecard. I asked for one and got a blank index card. But it is a decent and relatively cheap diversion. Who will enjoy it? Kids. [X] Yes. We noticed Cosmic Golf last year when were up here for our annual weekend in Big Bear, and made sure we would do it this year. We arrived late on Friday night. I looked it up and found out it was open until 1200 am! When we arrived and there only a few other people there having a great time. Sasha and Paige were very friendly and personable. They got us prepared to play giving us several choices of putters and various selection of colorfully painted golf balls. The entire golf course was painted with florescent paint. Glowing in the black lights there beautiful patterns, shape, images and accents on permanent fixtures that highlighted their definition. We had an incredible time on the compact 18 hole miniature course. At the end of the evening when we turned in our equipment, we had a nice conversation with Sasha and Paige. They gave us a history on the course, and suggestions for other activities and places to eat in Big Bear. Since we are amateur Ghost Hunters, we inquired about any reported haunted locations. The old miniature golf finally reopened with new owners/management. A young couple with their child and baby alongside have taken over running this cute little miniature golf course. It's the very same as before, under shady, tall pine trees, tucked into the edge of the forest but right off the main boulevard- complete with pine needles that often must be removed before any precision putting. It has all the old fashioned elements including a log cabin, the ant hill, and a castle along with cute handmade signs warning about bears playing through.. One of our must "go to places" every time we come up to Big Bear. Very happy to see it's still open and very happy to see a small local family running it. read more

Ok, let me start by saying my son and I used to love this place. Best night time entertainment in Big Bear. We come up every year for a week and would spend at least 3 to 4 nights playing here. Now, new owners who seem to be gambling on this place. I went with my son on Tuesday no one was there except for the owners and an old couple finishing up there round. I asked if they still do the cosmic golf. They told me in a defeated voice that the previous owners took the black lights. I said to myself wow that was poor negotiating buying this business. We still played a round and had fun. But as we played my son and I were bummed that we couldn't come back in the evening and have our usual fun. It is weird to come to a business and see a family of four with a newborn huddled up in a tiny Shack not big enough for two people. Let me say my first experience with the new ownership was very dry. My son wanted to go back the very next day. The owners seem surprised that we came back the following day. My son and I did not make it past the third hole when they're six seven eight year old son decided to follow us and continuously interrupted our game. I eventually had to let him know to please stop talking while we were playing. The owners, his parents were nowhere to be found. I let the young child know that we were playing and it was hard to play when he was talking all the time. Then to my amazement the father the owner and his son decided to run all over the entire course and play pretend guns. My son and I had to wait several times so that they can continue to play their game on their property. I understand that they're young couple and young business owners I hope my review opens their eyes to the problems that they are creating themselves. I fear that one of the oldest miniature golf courses in the country is probably going to end with the new owners; hopefully upgraded or sold. Overall the course is cute and the employee was friendly, but this course is missing the mark. Is it "Cosmic Golf" or "Hot Shot Golf"?This is one of the first miniature golf courses in the country and has been there for 70 years. You need a creative consultant;here is a start: GO WITH THE VINTAGE/RETRO/HISTORICAL MOUNTAIN THEME. Strip it down to it's roots. From the road, we have always thought you were closed. The fences and curb appeal need some attention. It looks a bit run down. The holes are creative, but the wearing of the paint really makes the place feel run down and left in the past. Either paint it fresh the beginning of every season or sand blast the paint down to the original red/pink dyed concrete. Replace the greens or completely remove the greens, clean up the concrete underneath, and just use greens/ carpet/ rug at the start of the hole. Also, if your not going to use rubber starting mats/ tees, then at least buy the same kind for each hole for a more uniform look. The best one was the reused fake grass because it looked nice and held the ball on the slope. Rename jail house to dog house; it looks like a dog house. Use all the space you have. There is about 1/4 of your lot unused on the south side. You have plenty of electric, there are not too many trees in the area. You could add a weekend food cart or mini events (I saw the extra drive-in gate). You could create a native forest garden. You could create a extra back 9 hole course and charge more $ for 27 holes or less $ for only 9 holes. Make a more comfortable place for your employees to sit- out of the wind. Lastly, some pipes in music would be nice since the course is on BB Blvd. We loved the built up rock areas and the holes that go underground and roll out below. The history is amazing. Hot shot miniature golf in Big Bear is one of my families favorite things to do. We usually go right around dusk to get our clubs and get settled. As soon as it gets dark, the neon lights turn on and the whole course is lit up with amazing colors. That isn't even the best part, the best part is the lady that works there is seriously the reason we come every year. As soon as you get there, she gives you a brief history on the course and is always so enthusiastic about it. She was even nice enough to take a couple of pictures for my family and I. I am amazed that every year the service gets better and better and I'm glad big bear has people like her working there. read more

During our trip to Big Bear Lake this weekend, my friends were yearning for miniature golf Sunday night. Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain was already closed for the evening so we drove to Hot Shot Miniature Golf instead. Having read Yelp reviews warning us of their incorrect operating hours beforehand, we expected the worst when we showed up at 7pm, and sure enough, it was closed despite Yelp listing it's open until 11pm. We arrived just in time to see another family standing outside with heartbroken children. Vowing never to see another crying kid outside Hot Shot Miniature Golf, I took a photo of their sign listing their hours and uploaded it to this Yelp page. Time will tell if their hours will change again. As for us, we ended up at FunPlex, but that's a tale for another day. read more

Visited: August 15, 2013 This place is REALLY cool!!!!!! I had always wanted to do cosmic golf and we stumbled on this place on accident. It was $10 a person. I thought the price was perfect. It wasnt too much where we felt we got ripped off. I think it was worth it. We arrived around 9 and they closed at 11pm. We had 4 in our group. It was nice that it wasnt really busy. Usually any mini golf Ive been to weve had to wait or hurry to the next hole because of people waiting but we totally took our time here and it was so nice! There are 18 holes and they werent too creative so I think they could do so much more but theres not much to do on a thursday night out in big bear thats outdoors so it was really cool that we actually found something. The only thing that bothered us were the bugs. which isnt their fault but make sure you put on bug spray or something if you play at night. Also, the music needs updating, it gets annoying. Overall: Fun, something different and entertaining, no crowds, great price. Its cool enough that I would recommend it to people visiting big bear lake read more

What a great place to get away and spend some quality family time. My kids and I live in Apple Valley and love taking a day trip up to Big Bear and stopping by HSMG. It's inexpensive and the owner is so nice. The last time my kids and I came, we were looking to get away from the 100+ heat in the desert. We ended up coming up on a day where it poured rain.
