I have a 'love hate' relationship with this place. When it first opened a few years ago, it was run by a sweet old man who didn't speak English but seemed to understand it because my order of lamb over rice with red and hot sauce, was always on point and I'm pretty sure it was authentic halal. Service was VERY slow, but I learned to call ahead, which helped a bit. Then I noticed 2 young guys there, same story with the good food, slow service. As of the last few months, D'Italia the pizza place from down the street, has moved in and taken over. They have both signs over the door and on the menu. The food is always good, but sometimes I get a packed plate for my money, other times not, sometimes they put white and red sauce when I ask for it, other times they forget one or the other, usually different pricing for the same order. Today was a day they forgot the red sauce, thankfully I had some sriracha at home but it's not the same. The order came to just under $12 and the dish was PACKED, my last visit it was $15 and there was a lot of room in the container to fill. Parking lot was a complete mess, that's almost always a guarantee. The same guy who ran D'Italia and was fast and knowledgeable, is also running this place and seemingly like it's always his first day on the job, along with everyone else working there. I also don't know how accurate it is to say their food is 'halal', which to me doesn't matter but it may to someone who is strictly halal. The parking lot is still atrocious at least they paved it, and there's not even anywhere else close to park if you can't get in. So my advice here is to proceed with caution..if you catch them on a good day, you'll love it, otherwise, you might not want to return. PS, the phone number posted on Yelp and of you google them, is disconnected but the one on the menu in the pic I posted is working. PPS, I hear from an avid fried chicken eater that theirs is not good, nor was it before D'Italia took over. I have stopped by here twice in the past week. I have ordered their Shawarma with chicken and lamb on top of rice and lettuce. I really like this combination. I am originally from the Bronx and I used to buy this combo a lot. Growing up in the Bronx, this food was available at almost every street corner. I recently discovered that it was available in Ossining. The food is good and very tasty and comes with hot sauce on top. I don't like hot sauce so I request both the white sauce and barbecue sauce. For me it's a blast from the past that I enjoy. And I'm glad I found it. Just be aware if you order, extra chicken or even extra lamb in the meal it could push the plate of food up to 20 bucks. It's good I like it so I gave it four stars. I have not tried anything else on the menu. I intend to go back and try other items. read more

I really have no idea how to rate this restaurant. Apparently we committed the cardinal sin by asking a question! We asked how many times did they change the fryer oil, and how many times did they actually clean the fryer not just top off the oil. We just got an unpleasant email from Yelp warning us about our"tone." i'm not even sure if it's about this restaurant because yelp didn't mention anything but are allegedly bad tone. I thought the mission of this site, At least in part,was to review restaurants and to be able to ask questions. I know that fryers are almost exclusively used with hydrogenated oil which is not a healthy thing, but if you only eat it once in a while it will do you no harm. By once in a while we meanI about once a month.We didn't think this question was out of line especially on a site that is designed to critique, applaud, or express one's dissatisfaction with restaurants we usually right about restaurants because we are recovering chefs. As my sister always says no good deed goes on punished. I find this ironically true. unfortunately we have no way of knowing which restaurant we asked because yelp won't let us see which question we asked to which restaurant. I think the question is eminently reasonable. Apparently this site does not. The only reason I write here free, And I have gotten paid plenty for writing in the past when I was working, is to help other people understand my grasp and my and my husband's personal opinion about restaurants. I really don't understand why y'all sent us that unpleasant email. If they wish us to continue to write for free, as we were both restaurant consultants and professional chefs in New York City before we retired then I asked this site not to send any more unpleasant emails about our so-called " tone." we know for sure that we have save some people from getting horribly sick by writing about some restaurants and juice bars that did not use even the basic hygiene that one is trained to do as a professional chef in New York City. There is of course one has to take and is mandatory. One has to pay for it as well. Things may have changed since we were both order to do that but I'm glad they did and I'm glad I paid for it. It teaches you how to keep food safe for yourself and for your customers so that you never ever make anyone sick. They may not like your cooking but I know for sure that I made no one sick ever in the 25 to 30 years that I worked in New York City as a professional chef under other much more famous and brutal French chefs Come to think of it I really don't think we even reviewed this restaurant. It's a good question to ask however when things are fried and deep-fried. The changing and cleaning of the frying machine is paramount to clean conditions and excellent hygiene which we all must strive for especially during a national and global pandemic. I don't understand what the problem was, and at this point I don't care. My husband is extremely aggravated at the situation and he didn't even want me to respond in anyway shape or form. I felt the need to. I feel the need to try to protect my neighbors even if I don't know you because I am well-versed in kitchen hygiene . Finally came here today! Ordered Tikka chicken rice, falafel with rice and salad & lamb rice platter. Omg, it's like the halal cart in the city! Freaking delicious and flavorful. I tried Kennedy's in Peekskill, almadinah halal and Yonkers halal. This is closest and the best halal in westchester! All three we ordered was legit! Started going here very shortly after they opened, the 2 guys working there were overly nice but I was never sure how well they understood my order, although I always received the correct stuff. Waiting for an order did take a very long time. So then I started calling ahead, that helped cut the wait time. As of the last several months, there is a young guy there who understands perfectly. I still suggest calling ahead. The worst part about this place is the parking. There's rarely more than 2 parking spots available and I'm not really sure why since there's only 3 shops in the strip of stores and none are ever busy. We've order from here a few times now and each time they've never disappointed. The gentlemen who run the business are so so nice, the food is so good, and the prices are amazing. I decided to try this place for lunch the other day after passing it a number of times and seeing it had very good yelp reviews. I'm now starting to wonder if Covid 19 has started to infect Yelp reviews too!!! Our order was ready when we arrived and the man at the counter was very friendly...You can see into the cooking area in the back when you pick up the food and I would say it doesn't offer a lot of positive first impressions as it looked unsightly. I grabbed our takeout (5 piece fried chicken and a chicken Tikka w/ Rice.). Was home 5 minutes later and immediately started eating the fried chicken as we were excited to see what all you fellow Yelpers have been raving about. Immediately I was disappointed by the color of the fried chicken...it was really dark and strangely colored. It looked like the fryer oil hadn't been changed in forever which gave it a really bad color. Not great second impression. I then picked it up and it was soggy feeling, but it was takeout fried chicken so I had to have some expectation that sitting in a box would negatively impact that aspect of the experience. I bit into it and it had no flavor other than burnt greasy oil. It was disgusting. My wife and I each took one bite and had the same reactions. We threw the five pieces of "fried chicken" in the garbage. I actually did not originally intend on ordering the chicken Tikka, but I did based on reviews and because I wanted to make sure we had a backup in case the fried chicken was a fail. I'm glad I did, because the chicken Tikka over rice was actually pretty tasty. It was overpriced at $11 for what you get, but taste wise it was pretty good. It's too bad that the fried chicken was as bad as it was because it's hard to find good fried chicken around these parts, but if you are going to have it in the name of your restaurant you probably want it to be good. Sorry just a so-so experience. Anyone from Queens will be sorely disappointed with their gyro. While tasty, very small and I felt overpriced at $7. You'll need two iF you are over 10 years old. Other than the gyro I think the rest of the menu is typical fried food fare. Weird that they don't offer real chicken wings rather than the boneless nugget kind. Nice people but it can be very frustrating to order on the phone (had to repeat at least 4 or 5x) as english is not their first language.
