Dined here on a Monday at lunch time. Crowd wasn't bad and we were seated and greeted immediately. It seems kind of like a beach bar themed restaurant that specializes in sea food dishes. We started out with an order of loaded fries and teas. Fries came quick and was plenty for two males who aren't afraid to eat. We didn't finish them. Loaded with cheese, bacon bits, ranch, HT special sauce and bacon bits. The tea was fresh made and was delicious. I had a burger/melt which had a 1/4 patty, grilled shrimp, grilled onions, sauce and cheese. It was big and piping hot when brought to the table with a side of cole slaw. Buddy had the crab patty burger. It was decent size with grilled veggies on the side. All food was phenomenal. He had been there before for drinks and remarked the atmosphere in the evenings is lively and the drinks at the bar are really good. read more

Hands-down Hot tails has the best crawfish! My mom and I went a couple of weeks ago and we sat at the bar and as soon as we sat down, we were served. The ambience is amazing and our waitress was also very informal and patient with us we knew we wanted to try the crawfish because we heard so many good things about it but at the same time we weren't sure because we're very picky about crawfish anyways I give the crawfish a 10 out of 10. I will definitely be back very soon! They were seasoned to perfect perfection, juicy big and not hard at all. For my drink, I tried the frozen rum punch and it was also a 10 out of 10 it was very fruity, but not overpowering. Definitely hit the spot with my boiled crawfish. read more

Service was quick. We came here for Lunch and this place was packed. They cleaned off a table for us in no time. We had 7 people. The prices are great. For my daughter and I, it was around 30$. Located in a shopping center. No issues with parking. When you walk in a person at the bar will ask to choose a seat and then they will come to your table. This is a recent change. Previously you would order at the bar. Staff was outstanding and attentive. Restaurant is clean with nice tables that are stocked with all the sauces they offer. We had the shotgun shrimp for appetizer. They are delicious and my daughter's favorite. I had the fried shrimp platter with fries. It was delicious. Fresh shrimped fried perfectly. A few years ago I stopped ordering fish sandwiches because I was tired of muddy, gross catfish. These folks have reminded me what I love about a good fish sandwich dressed with tomatoes and slaw (even if it is sloppy as someone else described - it is good enough to dig in with a fork if necessary). It's huge and yummy! Good soft bread, crispy fish, and creamy slaw. The menu has a lot of old standards in fried seafood, and a few extras (alligator, frog legs). Fried shrimp are big and done well, thick cut steak fries and thin cut onion rings are both good - although I prefer thicker onion rings, these are still good. Note: counter service - order at the bar, which is in the back. It's a bit overpriced for fried seafood and counter service, but if you need a fried seafood fix, this is a good place to get it. read more

Hot Tails has definitely converted me when it comes to the po-boy game. Hot, fresh, and overflowing with crawfish - it was the perfect bite! Swapped out the fries for these delicious string onion rings. We ordered the shotgun shrimp which was finger lickin good. Stopped by on a random Wednesday after lunch rush (1245ish). Did not disappoint. We shared a pork chop sandwich, onion rings and okra. I started with a cajun martini. Don't miss this!! Excellent. Was a little worried that chop would be tough but went with it because of the high reviews. It literally melts in your mouth. Great. Loved the THIN onion rings and hubs is sold on the okra. Joshua, our server, was wonderful. Took bread pudding to go on his advice. Looking forward to it for tonight. Definitely coming back to try other items on this menu but I'll stick with that martini. I got the Couyon Melt and it was by far the best patty melt I have ever tasted. The burger was moist and each and every topping complimented each other very well. The only thing I would prefer is being asked how I would want my burger prepared, they make them well done and I prefer mine medium. I will be back. read more

Long wait, forgotten, no food, frustrating! A family of 5 seated and ready to order at 6:15pm. Waitress served our drinks. Menus were paper copies and extreme filthy. Thirty minutes later the waitress returned to take our order. During the 30 minutes she attended to the table beside us that was seated after us, bring them both drinks and appetizers. Forty five minutes after taking our order she stopped by to tell us the kitchen was backed up and she didn't know when food would arrive. An hour and thirty minute wait and still no food. I canceled the order and asked what was owed for the drinks. It took her another 15 minutes to bring me a check. How can this happen? The place is not that big to fall that far behind, or lose site of the customer. Ridiculous! read more

We went with blackened alligator and crawfish bread to start, and both came out very fresh and fast. For entrees we did a bowl of seafood gumbo that was great, and an oyster rockefeller burger that was HUGE! Service was fast, friendly, and the restaurant and bathrooms were all very clean. I got got the Cole slaw ad on - don't - not worth the $5. The loaded fries were good but a little soggy. You'd expect that with clamshells bet it's better if you dine in. Was our Second visit to hot tails. This time was a pickup and we ordered a shrimp wrap, fish sandwich and a grilled cheese. This came out to $35. Definitely seemed a bit pricy but the wrap/sandwich came with fries and some sort of spicy canes sauce on the side. Which was good. Pros: sauce on side was good. Shrimp had great flavor. Fish sandwich was giant. Fries were seasoned well. Cons: everything was wet. The wrap and fish sandwich were both dripping from cole slaw and whatever sauce was on them. Idk who's idea it was to drench sandwiches/wraps with cole slaw but please please please let me help you: this isn't a good idea. Have it on the side and let the sandwiches stand on their own. The fish sandwich deserves a brioche type bun, not a hamburger bun. Another note for the owner: kids meals that come with spicy fries. What is this about? Have you ever been around a small child eating before? Don't throw a bunch of pepper on kids fries. That's insane. The chicken Tenders too. Kids don't want spicy food. They aren't going to eat it and you're just going to piss off the parents. Summary: Some really strange decisions here all around. I had high hopes for this place and was very excited to have a Cajun/creole Louisiana food place take over for a closed Sammy's but everything my family and I have tried from hot tails has been less than expected. Not good just okay I've been hearing great things and wanted to give Hot Tails a try. Went on a Wednesday night and was very confused immediately upon entering. For anyone who hasn't been before I'll give you the break down to prevent you from standing there confused for ten minutes like I did. You basically order at the bar and are given a table number. Seat yourself or maybe a waitress tells you where to sit (I saw both happening so not too sure there) and you serve yourself fountain drinks. We ordered a draft beer, ponchatoula punch, chargrilled oysters, a shrimp wrap and shrimp platter. I'll start with the good, the Ponchatoula Punch was surprisingly fantastic. I wasn't expecting it to taste so fresh and the fruit and garnish were a great touch. My shrimp wrap was okay but menu listed fried shrimp and they were grilled. Also kept getting a taste of pickle even though it was listed nowhere on the description and I couldn't find any in the wrap. Strange. The fries were all random sizes and didn't seem to cook evenly some being huge soggy steak fries and some were small crispy seasoned fries. Again strange and I had to pick through to find the cooked ones. My husband didn't complain about his shrimp but for a $22 shrimp platter I thought 7 fried shrimp and 2 bland hush puppies were a little insulting. The chargrilled oysters were probably the biggest disappointment. Basically just melted butter and a thick burnt crust of tangy cheese over 6 oysters for $17 The fountain drink situation was the worst part. The sweet tea tasted curdled and when I dumped it out and went for lemonade that syrup was clearly out because it was lemon flavored water. My husbands Coke was fine. And all this for a grand total of $96 for two people. Needless to say we most likely won't return and would have loved to have a great experience. This review is based on 1 visit, the fact that my sister drove 10 miles out her way in Ascension traffic, the catfish Acadie and the hush puppies. These were easily the best hush puppies I've ever had. I've had puppies that were just as well seasoned, but never that were this moist. You've all had those dry ass hush puppies and know what I'm talking about. These are so good they renamed them. The Acadie was heaven. Blackened to perfection and surrounded by rice on one side and etouffe on the other. Why, you ask? Maybe to protect yourself from burning your mouth by shoving this delicious stuff in your mouth. By the time I mixed it all together, it was perfect. Why take the time to write this review?
