Ribeye po boy and onion rings

Excellent food and fast service. They have the BEST onion rings. Always crowded and parking can be tricky but they're quick and you can't beat the food.

Hamburger steak with carrots, peas, and bread! The price is very cheap too! Can't complain for a $10 dollar lunch. They also sell homemade packages of meat, sausages, seafood and so much more! Give this place a go!

4.75 is my rating. The customer service is top of the line. Everyone there seems to love their job and they display great energy (gotta love that). The crawfish is a must try and everything I've purchase from them was good. I wish the hours of operation was better on the weekend but they have their reasoning for that. The location is kind of ducked off but do yourself a favor and get over there asap. You will see what I'm talking about in terms of their customer service.

So what do you do when you find yourself in Gonzales and need to eat lunch? I don't know about you, but I consult yelp and look for a review from my good buddy Joel. Thanks to him, I had a pretty good lunch at Tee Wayne's one day. Speaking of Joel, he is dead on about the bread. Tee Wayne's does not use traditional New Orleans style po-boy bread. It's much softer than I am used to, but they still put out a quality product. On this trip I decided to try their ribeye po-boy. The bread was too soft, but what was inside was better than expected. The thinly sliced ribeye remained tender despite being so thin. The addition of cheese and sautéed onions really moved that sandwich to another level. Had it been on traditional bread, it would've been better, but it was still damn good. I also tried their boudin balls. Being a huge fan of boudin, I was a little taken aback when they were served with a side of ranch. But despite my reluctance, I dunked away. It's true what they say; you could dunk a shoe in ranch and it would still be edible. Even without the ranch they were pretty good and I'd recommend them as an appetizer. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome despite obviously being the only non-local in the place. If you find yourself in Gonzales and need a good sandwich, check out Tee Wayne's.

    Pork sauce piquante - excellent

Visited the other day while I was in the area and left extremely satisfied. I had the pork sauce piquant lunch special, which turned out to be the best sauce piquant I've ever had, even better than Suire's in Kaplan, which I thought nobody could possibly beat. Also tried the ribeye poboy which was delicious as well. I'll definitely return the next time I'm out that way.

HRB poboy... bad angle pic cause it really is piled... check the in the upper corner and you can tell
    Joel M.

Alright, I was wavering between a 3 & a 4 on this review...I find it to be a truer 3.5... why you ask (and even if you don't ask I'm telling you anyhow!)? The poboy is good with hints of greatness... it's the bread that's holding it back.... the shredded roast beef was tasty and they dressed it just right, coulda been a little wetter but the bread was too soft and pillowy.... now if they would have grilled it so it has that crispy outer layer into the soft inner I think this poboy coulda shined! If you've eaten enough poboys then you know what I mean by my bread statement.... However compared to my experience at Mike's Poboys with bread that felt like you were gonna pull your teeth out to get through it I'll take this place any day of the week and twice on Sundays! Open and roomy with about 15 tables, they serve bottled beer and soft drinks and more than just poboys. They also do fish and seafood baskets... Look to be open for lunch Monday thru Thursday cause they close at 2 PM but stay open till 8 PM Friday/Saturday... If you find yourself in the Gonzales/Geismar/Prairieville area and hankering for a poboy head down US 61 toward Baton Rouge make a turn on LA 621 and you'll find Tee Wayne's and maybe me cause this is gonna be my go to poboy place in the AP...

He said, "Next time you're in Gonzales, please stop by -- I'd love to meet you." So this past Sunday, Parker and I went in for brunch -- same time of day as before -- but this time we sat in the dining room, and the experience was completely different and absolutely wonderful. From the moment I walked in, Ava at the host stand smiled and said, "Oh, you're back!" and that right there is what I love about great front-of-house teams -- you feel remembered and welcomed. I asked if Jason was there, and it turns out Sunday is normally his day off, but he came in just to see us. That alone meant so much. He was warm, fun, genuinely hospitable, and made us feel truly cared for. And then Connor came by -- now sporting a mustache that somehow makes him look five years older -- but he recognized me right away and gave me a big hug. That kind of genuine connection says everything about the people who work here. Our server, Aaliyah, was phenomenal -- friendly, attentive, and always offering great recommendations with the best attitude. We started with Bloody Marys (which we loved), then ordered 3 pounds of crawfish, which also comes with corn and potatoes. It's early in the season, so they were lightly salty, but still absolutely delicious and perfect with the local draft beer we ordered (I believe it was from Parish Brewing). Such a great pairing. Parker ordered the half grilled shrimp with chicken gumbo, and I had the fried oyster po'boy with seafood gumbo -- mine was fantastic. His gumbo leaned a little salty, but overall everything was flavorful and satisfying. And then... Jason surprised us with king cake, just in time for Mardi Gras. He recommended strawberry and I also went with a classic because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to king cake -- and it was perfect. What really made the experience special was the atmosphere: families, couples, friends -- you could feel that this is a true community spot that people love. It was lively, warm, and full of good energy. Thank you, Jason, for going out of your way and turning a bad experience into an unforgettable one. Thank you, Aaliyah, for being such a wonderful server. And thank you, Connor (and that mustache ) for the hug and the warm welcome back. And thank you, Don's Seafood, for reminding me why this place is such a Gonzales staple. We'll definitely be back.

The Gonzalez, LA location is full of Cajun and traditional southern charm with a modern feel. I sat at the bar and got my Abita beer (my New Orleans go to) and a heaping plate of crawfish (standard 3lb order with corn and potato sides). Takes me back to growing up down south and well seasoned, not too salty or lip burningly spicy. Excellent size for early March as well (if you want mini lobster big, visit in early May). The bartender stayed attentive and made sure to get me the second Abita to wash it all down. Can't wait for my next trip!

So, I gave it a chance. We made reservations and were seated almost immediately, which was a great start. The restaurant was a little cold inside, the strawberry lemonade was delicious and the food overall was very good. The oysters were actually really good! I was especially excited that they let me try one I had never seen on a menu before, the BBQ oysters jalapeño. It was fun stepping outside of my usual order, I was glad I did. It was a rainy day, so we ended up getting pretty soaked coming in and leaving but that certainly wasn't the restaurant's fault. What really stood out was the service. Our waiter was incredibly accommodating, attentive and friendly, the entire waitstaff made us feel welcome. The restaurant was also clean, bathroom as well which I always appreciate.
