Before the last few months, the employees have been so kind and amazing. This month, something completely flipped. Somehow I have been scammed by this location twice in the last month? Recently instead of asking "You have rewards points, do you want to use them?" they started saying "Do you want a FREE snack/item?" and giving you a very small selection of items to choose. I chose a gummy worth 7$ and they used my 5$ in rewards without even asking and $2 of my money. I went back to ask what happened, but the employee just smirked and acted like he didn't care and told me "well the DM told me to say that". Another employee overheard, so i asked her about it. She agreed they were supposed to phrase it that way and not let us know we were using our stored points or our own money. The original employee I talked to said "I asked you if you wanted to use your rewards points on a snack and you said yes." and I immediately said "No you said 'do you want a FREE snack' then charged me for it." I understand they 'have to say these things' but he acted like I was insane and so did the other employee. I went home disappointed in this franchise I thought I trusted. I wasn't offered anything for the misunderstanding, not even an apology. I understand their probably not paid enough to care, but it just sucks and I honestly feel stupid. In better news, I love their items. I bought Official Murder drones merch and I absolutely adore the items I got. I just miss the old trustworthy employees. read more

I like to poke in here to look at their funko pop collection. This particular store is very well stocked in your anime gear. If you're looking for anime themed shirts, toys, trinkets, this place is worth a visit. If you're a funko pop chaser like I am, you definitely want to follow their instagram account becuase they post all their pops on there. They don't really post any other gear on their instagram stories at least. I would not recommend you come near closing. I tried going in before closing but there was a person at the door who stopped me and said they were closed. They were probably worried I would take a whole lot of time even though shoppers technically had time according to hours. read more

I like weird stuff and I usually find an item or two in Hot Topic. I came in here just before Christmas and was wandering around, looking for some stuff for gifts and didn't find anything that hit the spot. Can always rely on Hot Topic for a t-shirt. There were only two people working and they were slammed with the holiday crowd. Needed more people working. read more

The woman working this morning (2/3, opening shift; she was white and had pink or purple hair and saidd her name was Kailey) is not particularly fit for working retail- perhaps a commission job would be better, since she seems to enjoy antagonizIng customers. I didn't even want to come here, but I've never had a negative experience. Unfortunately it was the only place I could find the hair dye I was after. I went to check out and at first she simply said "and your phone number." I told her no, I didn't have a Hot Topic account. Her smile fades, "it's just for points." (And your sales metrics, I know the hustle.) I repeated that I don't want an account. I don't shop here. She continues to push! "You're shopping here now." She holds up my purchase with an accusatory look. I finally had to say to this obnoxious retail worker "Stop pressuring me. I'm not giving it to you." In absolutely no retail interaction should a customer request an employee to stop pressuring them. It should've ended at my first no. I get you probably get reviewed and evaluated based on phone number capture, but as someone who has actually worked commission sales, I would have never acted entitled to private customer information without their enthusiastic interest. read more

I frequent Alderwood Mall, and Hot Topic is definitely one of my most often stopped by shops because it aligns with my interests, as it does with very many people I'm sure. I've been going here since I was a teenager and have even worked at the mall for half a decade. This place definitely feels like a second home to me despite seeing many faces come and go as employees. From what I've overheard, there is new management, and while they handle their team really well and do a great job handling its social media, I just can't shake the fact that they're a white woman with dreads. It seems wildly inappropriate in the climate we work in that she comes to work this way, appropriating a culture that just isn't hers, when Black people around the country can't go to work in professional settings while rocking their natural dreads. I truly hope Hot Topic will rethink this person's employment or appearance. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for t-shirts we always love getting band t shirts here we got there 10 minutes before closing we were not aware the alderwood Mall was closing so early on as Saturday 8:00 p.m.! We were told they would be closing in 10 minutes then another employee told us that we were closing in 6 minutes and another said we were closing before they could tell us how long we interrupted them and said we had already been told THAN AGAIN a forth time by the first guy that gave us the 10 minutes, we could have bought our merchandise and been out the door by that time. I believe they were hounding us on purpose it was extremely rude and unprofessional I will not return to this location. I just like to add next door Spencer's was extremely nice to us and let us take a look at the t-shirts 4 minutes before closing without hounding us. I understand that they are trying to close and corral people out the door but we were literally going to be in and out. read more

I love the variety of fun things that can be found here. The challenge is that there are so many things packed into this small store that it can be overwhelming. On the plus side, all of the employees are super friendly and helpful and always make me feel welcome. I have found many fun Funko, Pusheen & Disney items here. read more

I don't come in here very often because I am not metal/punk or whatever other label that comes along with shopping here. I had ordered some stuff online, body jewelry and some little mermaid garb because...well yea. So they sent me some of there hot cash or whatever it is. Blasting death metal...people still listen to that? Ugh. The guy greeted me and then was rude the rest of the time. I didn't need help but don't be a straight up ass. I went to check out and he was super rude. 1st, no I didn't hear which register to go to since death metal is blaring. 2nd, I know you have to spend a certain amount to use the "cash." I thought that I was there but I was like $2.00 short, ok cool, I will just grab something, don't be an asshole, really guy. I will not be back to this store again, if I need anything, I will order it online. read more

Good that they're wearing masks and all that but it really says something about a business when they non-stop condescend to you about what your wearing or whether or not you're a member of their rewards program. Nobody in a retail job should shreik at the customers to grab another shirt because there's a buy2get1. If customers wanted to be shamed and berated, they would shop at Walmart. read more

The only other review on this page is by a person that has a nearly identical review for the same store at a different location. I'm not saying that isn't the person's experience, only that it's strange to me that would be the experience at both stores. I thought I would share my experience. I visit this location the most. I often end up browsing quite a bit because although I find a lot of the products amusing, I'm not actually sure that I should be spending money on novelty items. My experience has also been that staff members make me aware of sales and promotions but I haven't been bombarded. I appreciate hearing about them (even though the signage is also clear). I sometimes buy things here for my kiddo but have to say that I wish I were young enough at heart to buy some of the things for myself. Who doesn't need a TMNT t-shirt, Walking Dead funko, or Minecraft creeper mug? Oh, wait. I have all those things. I also buy accessories here and have loved the neon nail polish deals I've scored! read more

Come here for your punk and nerdery needs. The slogan "all about the music" isn't as true as it has been in the past. Yes they have a bunch of music tees, CDs & whatnot. But I remember walking in and the first thing I saw were the sweatshirts on the wall, band sweatshirts covering the wall up to the celing like moss. Now you will find Hello Kitty, video game characters, book nik-naks like Hunger Games, and of course book turned movie, Harry Potter. So personally, I like this place. I have for many years now. They don't always have everything I might be looking for but they have a pretty good selection of things. They have a lot of really cool belts, and there clearance section always has tons of shirts. Decent selection of body jewelry if you are just starting out and the necklaces are bold and simple. They have a bunch of wacky candy so that's always fun too look at and the buttons are my favorite. I couldn't leave the store without buying some, now I try to stay away from those containers so I don't tempt myself. & the" support the music" guitar picks and totes are great. If I go the Alderwood mall, I always peek my head in atleast, and go in most of the time. read more

1.) Don't ever get ear stretching tapers/whatever from here. The brand "Morbid Metals" or whatever the hell it is, is all jacked up on their taper sets. First 14g I got was bent and all messed up. Second 12g set the taper was smaller than the jewelry it came with. Had a really hard time trying to fit the plugs in after the taper due to the fact that the taper was smaller. Didn't really have any problems with the 14g set but... Horrible quality for the $16.50 I spent on them. I don't think they're supposed to be bent in all different directions lol. So unless you want to stretch your ears right and not fuck them up, don't be a dumbass...don't buy from there. 2.) I have bought stuff from this store in the past, and I have ordered online at their website too. For a non-collected (return by not picking up) item, the purchase contract says they will refund the money charged, which never happened in the case of my purchase. I inquired about this multiple times and also complained to their management. Their management is worse than the store staff, and I never got my money back. Not a store I would recommend to friends. read more

Wonderful staff!! Went in to find a breaking bad shirt, and was happily shown about 5. Really the nicest staff in the mall.
