Its nice to still have a full service mens department here if you're shopping for formal mens wear - suits, shirts etc. I had such exceptional service here on a recent visit, I came in twice, the first time for my son, and as we were leaving my wife noticed a fabulous suit on sale and told me to come back next day to get it. We've been going to this Macy's for decades. With one notable exception, service has always been excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful, often helping ensure we got the best deal available. I don't know if it's changed, but tailoring was (is?) available on-site when you buy a suit (we never asked about tailoring for dresses) for free or nominal fee. The store has had some ups and downs the last six years (what store hasn't), but is usually clean and organized. They often run good sales, free shipping to store or home is available, and they usually carry a nice variety of clothes and some home things. Overall, we love our Macy's. Here's the one and ONLY nasty experience we had, over a few decades of shopping there. I'm really just relating an odd experience, not really knocking Macy's (although a few employees deserved some discipline and training after this): We once bought a man's watch. Not a cheapo, but not a particularly expensive watch, either. Call it $150 Seiko. The next day, I realized that the watch wasn't working, so we took it back. The clerk took the watch, went off for a bit, then came back with a manager who told me that the mechanism in the watch had been replaced with a very cheap alternative which wasn't working. Okay. That sounds very strange to me. I guess some people will do anything for a buck. But then, she accused me and my wife of having done this. As I said, my wife and I have been Macy's shoppers for several decades and shopping at this particular location for probably more than 25 years. We're points members and card holders and they have all this information in their system. We've never had or reported a similar problem with any product - there or anywhere else. As you can guess, at this point, we're also fairly older, well-dressed, well-presenting customers. There is just no objective fact that would point to me being a watch-mechanism thief. Frustratingly, we had to make an appointment to come back again, another day, to speak with the manager's manager. When we returned for that appointment, the manager's manager was not yet there, so we had to go through another round of accusations with another low-level manager who also accused us of the same. Finally, the higher-level manager came, and with some stern discussion, she apologized for the treatment and refunded our money. I have no idea how the watch got like that or why. There must be someone in the distribution chain who's actually making a business of this. But, if you think logically - unless you're in the mfg/distribution chain it makes very little sense to go to the hassle of acquiring appropriate replacement mechanisms and to set up your own business of selling them. It's a $150 watch. IDK, but what's the mechanism worth? $30? $40? Max. Maybe they buy or steal fake watch bodies for more expensive watches and use them there. Who knows. Most of the time, criminals could make as much or more money if they'd just put their same efforts into a legitimate enterprise. Regardless, this was a very strange one-off. I highly recommend this Macy's. Staff are nearly always polite, friendly and helpful. Some sales are great. Store is clean and well put together. Support local or it will disappear!! read more

Okay I might be over doing it by giving Macy's 5 stars.....but they always have styles to help me get out my comfort zone. Customer service is not my favorite. The cashier are entitled and all have a different way of handling purchases and returns. The manager of the store is stretched thin... but will take care of any misunderstandings with Excellent customer service... There was no one there when I went in to the changing room and when I left, she appeared saying I needed to bring the clothes out. She said I was trash and I should have known the rules. read more

Lies. They told me I would get 30% off. Double charged me for shoes. (Disputing this charge) Opened a credit card because they promised I would 30% off my full order if I did. This was just a straight up lie. They even wrote the amount down. Called the store. Explained and was hung up on. Called corporate they said they couldn't do anything. No discount at all. I went into Alderwood Macy's to the Estée Lauder counter. The lady at the counter was helping a customer, I waited maybe 5 minutes for my turn, not bad. When it was my turn I showed her what I wanted to purchase, she said ok. She then immediately proceeded to lean up against a display shelf and started to eat an apple. I was confused and asked her nicely if there was anyone that could get the item for me. She said she will when she's done eating. I told her I'm not about to watch her eat the apple. Came to return some jeans I had bought never used and the person at the counter kept harassing me and complaining about fake stains and threads I had to argue with him and show him there were none. He also started smelling the jeans very inappropriate trying to find any issue he could his name was kareem. He made me very upset and never even apologized. read more

came several miles to the store to pay my wives credit card bill. Because my wife was not present with an id or Macy's card, they would not allow me to pay the bill. Mind you, it is a community property state and if my wife passed away and a balanced owed, they would have no trouble asking me for the money. I had a receipt on me that they easily could have brought up the account and allowed me to pay. I was not trying to make a purchase just simply pay a bill. I for security reasons even stated I dont care if receipt is totally exed out just show the payment. I asked for the clerks manager and she acted miffed I would request that. Her manager came down and he immediately developed an attitude with me about me simply trying to pay my wives bill. I asked for his manager which upset him even further. No regard that I am and was the customer. His manager came shortly after I asker for it and her temperament was quite pleasant compared to what I had experienced so far from the clerk and first manager. Unfortunately she stuck with she could not allow me to pay without my wives id and card. That being said I don't like carrying a balance on any credit card especially Macy's being extremely high ridiculous interest rates. Simply wanted to pay a bill and I got nothing but attitude. I was there today just to purchase a swimsuit the lady in that dept completely ignored me.. she went around me at least 5 times didn't ask me if I needed help .. she kept doing whatever she was doing I felt complete ignore and not once ask me if I needed any help.. I will start with the positive - the only positive about this particular Macy's there is one good part of the store and that's the make up department. Tomoko is amazing, Alecx (sp?) is a gem. they know their stuff, or extremely customer service oriented, and they are pretty much the only reason I will travel 30 minutes to go to the store The rest of it is so unbelievably low class. We did upfront customer service for several minutes this morning while the customer service person chatted with a friend, completely ignoring me even though I saw her and her friend both look at me. Then she was remarkably unhelpful with a return, I will leave it at that But the real crap experience was the jewelry. I purchased a bracelet there several months ago and it broke. I went to see if I could get it replaced or fixed and was told things like "we don't fix fashion jewelry" by somebody who was barely looking up from her phone. Zero problem-solving skills in trying to figure out who made the bracelet, how to help etc. I even asked her if she could look online and she made it seem like that was the most inconvenient thing ever. Her boss said to look online and can you believe it... She found it in about one minute, printed out a list of all the stores that still have the bracelet, handed it to me and told me to call those stores to purchase a new bracelet. When I asked why I had to purchase a new one instead of having it replaced she looked at me and said "HONEY, we are not going to do that for you" seriously... Honey? I am a grown ass adult and she is in the service industry, who the frick does she think she is not only calling me honey but in a totally dismissive tone like that? I received a beautiful suitcase set from Macy's, but I was not excited about the solid gold color. The value was well over $300, but I specifically want pink, so I went to Alderwood Macy's, and they were sold out of the pink set, so I requested a cash refund to purchase the item at a suitcase specialty store, but I was told that they do not give cash refunds, only a credit gift card. Their customer service is going downhill like their business. Customer service staff need better training (maybe Macys don't care now). A service rep with a Ukraine or Russian accent had an attitude and showed hostile behavior against customer. Also if you order online, the package arrives at night and somehow is stolen because it didn't come earlier during the day where thieves usually are not around to steal, it'd be all on you. They won't bother to care for anything after your package is dropped off, Customer service said that. Amazon doesn't do this to customers and so Amazon is classy. I ordered my friend a birthday present - wanted to spoil her on her special day! I was excited for her to open it! It never arrived When I called I was told that my package couldn't get delivered because the address was a PO BOX. Why in the world it let me make an order that couldn't get delivered? To make matters worse - I accidentally put my friend's address as billing, so the rude agent in the phone refused to give me any information about it and said that my friend has to call herself. I asked for manager and they put me on hold for 40 minutes and then dropped me. What an awful customer service and unreliable company. Never again! read more

Well...I really don't have to add to the countless one star reviews, but I feel compelled. Mostly, I feel sorry for the employees who make a few cents above the current unlivable minimum wage. The low pay relects in their downtrodden dispirited attitude of not caring about doing their best. I experienced this off-putting attitide whenever I used to shop there. I no longer do. As one of the other reviews stated, the store DOES resemble a Ross. Messy and full of cheap goods. I was interested in buying a belt. I thought..."It's Macy's...the store will have quality belts." Wrong! All the belts were imported junk and were all poor quality as well as, over-priced. There was no one in the Men's Department to help me. Many of the Check-out areas had only one person and a line of people waiting...for their inconvenience. Due to the low pay, the turnover must be very high. The hand sanitizers I tried to use were all empty. What really surprised me was the way the employees were dressed. There must not be a dress code. I saw worn shabby Levis, wrinkled shirts not even tucked into the pants, scuffed shoes, and no one dressed in a professional manner. It's most likely because the low-wage exploited employees can't afford to buy nice clothes. They waste all their meager wages on food and rent. Obviously, there is a lack of leadership to create a dedicated esprit de corps among the troops There is no pride in working for Macy's. We, the customers, suffer. Macy's was once "THE place to shop". That ship has sailed...along with quality products, and dedication to working for a company that was once great. Just had the worse customer experience in a very long time. I understand companies are wanting to save money and more and more automaton. The customer service center is based over seas and is one of the worst. They are clueless of what a real Macy's shopping experience is. They speak in circles read scripts and "we understand your concerns and ask to to rest assured" I purchased a Ninja Foodi back in September today I noticed it came down fairly significant. I called and requested a price adjustment. I was told NO because it was over 10 days however if I wanted to return it and repurchase I could. I asked if there was any other options. She said no. I asked for a supervisor and was told nine are available. As a platinum member I feel the customer service and they way it was handled was awful. The agent was not prepared and only can answer what's in her scripts. Unfortunately I bet she's never even been in a Macy's Macy's you have to step to and begin to deliver better customer service. The shirt I bought was fine. Macy's online presence is a nightmare. They got my email when I paid for the shirt (in a store, not online), and since then I have gotten 4-5 advertising emails every single day for months. You can imagine what a mess that makes of my inbox. The emails consist of unreadable CSS gibberish, there is no working link to cancel or unsubscribe, and Macy's does not honor a mailed request to unsubscribe. I came in to get socks and I was going to go elsewhere to get shoes, but I decided to stop by the athletic shoe area in Macy's. There was a young man in his 20's who greeted me and when I showed him the paper with a list of shoes that my physical therapist recommended he asked what kind of foot problems I had. I was surprised he was so knowledgeable! He told me he had the same issue (with his ankles rolling in) and what shoes/brands would help. He helped me pick out a pair of Nike's that had a lot of support compared to my usual Nike Flexes that have zero support. Because of him, I spent $100 on shoes and socks that I would've spent elsewhere. His kindness and knowledge is what convinced me to shop there. I didn't find out his name, but he was tall, thin, with short blonde hair, I think blue eyes. My receipt doesn't say his name, but he charged my card at 2:33pm today on 9/20/19. I'm really looking forward to trying these shoes out at my job on Sunday, and I'm confident that they will help my foot pain. Thank you for your help bud! This review is for Miss Cheryl (badge says Cherie), who woks as a cashier/customer service representative that works at the return desk called "At Your Service". Between my mom and my five sisters, we probably buy at least $20,000 every couple of weeks from Macy's. For most of last year (and for good reason), the dressing rooms were closed and my family transitioned to shopping for clothes on Macy's.com. We live in Kirkland so Alderwood is our closest mall. Thank gosh we found a cashier/salesperson/customer service representative named Miss Cheryl/Cherie, Shopping for that many women during the pandemic was a nightmare. Still, Miss Cherie CONSISTENTLY, EFFICIENTLY AND PROFESSIONALLY, HELPED US PROCESS RETURNS AND EXCHANGES AND ORDER MULTIPLES OF OUR FAVORITE ITEMS. SHE was so amazing at figuring out which receipt went with which items and she even was able to order us multiples of the items we all loved. Just imagine, five girls at a cash register trying to order different sizes, return items and potentially locate things we might have never seen online. Miss Cheryl was so patient and kind...we were able to order another $600 in clothing every week or so because she agreed to look our collective "hot items up" and ship it to us directly. Miss Cheryl was never cross, short with us or impatient. Instead, she processed our returns quickly and took the five of us requesting items for delivery in stride. Miss Cheryl should be the manager of the Macy's Alderwood. We are the daughters of Jessica McClintock/Gunne Sax; we have all worked ten years or more of retail. It is only because of our cumulative experience and my sisters shared opinion that I feel 100% comfortable recommending Miss Cheryl for any position in management or customer service. If we didnt shop at Macy's, I am not sure where my sisters and I would shop. However, we all feel so fortunate and lucky to have a cashier and salesperson like Miss Cheryl helping us out at the Macy's Alderwood Mall!!! read more

I went last week and I went again today and the whole store has been rearranged and is very unorganized and hard to find anything!! The women's clothing racks are so full and very unorganized!! This location has nice sales associates but the store is in dire need of a redesign. From the outside parking lot you are not close to anything else, but spaces are always available out here. I find it odd that they sell Apple products in here but I guess it is becoming a one-stop shop. From the mall side you can easily access the makeup counters, Macy's most organized department. I prefer this Macy's to the one at Northgate because the makeup counter associates are friendly, down to earth, and helpful. I don't ever venture to the clothing department here as nothing really catches my eye. They offer coupons so often that I know I should do more shopping here, but something about their marketing just doesn't entice me over. With the ease of shopping online through the Macy's app I prefer to look there and then only come here if I need to exchange or return items. read more

I ordered over the phone (which a lot of the time that can be tedious or people can become impatient) but Erica made it fast and simple! I also received my brushes in a very timely manner! I live close by and this Macy's is "my" Macy, and I am there at least once a month. I have nothing bad to say about the store itself. I know Macy's is not doing great as a whole, but they still try to improve the store with renovations and change things up from time to time. I am appreciate that we still have a physical store to walk around, and try things on in Lynnwood. However, I am really frustrated with the check out process and cashiers here. The cashier stations never have enough people, usually they have two or more machines in one station, but only one, or no people working. I had the misfortune of lining up behind someone that decided to apply for the Macy's credit card on the spot. The cashier wanted the credit card quota, so she did not care when this process took more than 20 mins, and there were other customers lining up behind. She did not even acknowledge the fact that she was wasting other people's time. I tired to find another cashier but was caught in the situation of fearing to lose the spot and can't find anyone else. In my option, Macy's should really change the credit card soliciting process, or hire more employees. Maybe move credit card applications all to customer service station while giving individual cashiers credits. There is no good to make the paying process so frustrating. This will only create a down whirl spiral, to me, if it is hard to shop here, I will just spend my money else where. read more

I've spent many thousands of dollars over the last 25 years there, but when I tried to return an unused item 12 days over the 45 day window, they refused to accept it. Wow, I felt like a criminal exchanging a defective pair of jeans! They called a manager and they requested an ID! Although the item is only sold at Macy's and made for them, and the manager can clearly see the length is defective, he still managed to make feel like I'm trying to cheat them!! The funny part, the jeans is only $30!! The sad part; once I got home I saw the jeans I got had a broken loop. And now I'm afraid if I do another exchange I'll be stripped of my citizenship and deported to Antartica!! read more
