I have been a fan of Hot Topic since I was in high school. I wish I could give this store 5 out of 5 stars but over the years the store has become a bit trendy. I loved the raw gritty feel of the music and the clothing in the 90's. But now the store has turned to a more Pop Grunge vibe. I still like the store but don't nearly buy as much stuff as I used to. Maybe I am just missing the old days. Stop by and check out the eclectic merchandise for yourself. You just might find a few items that you could use or wear. read more

Hot Topic smells. Does it smell to you? Is it all that latex and cheap plastic? Who knows. I avoid going into here at all costs! Cute funny postcards or stuff like that. But not worth it having to smell that strange smell and hear disturbing music. read more

I am writing this review because I received great service from the manager, Michael. He helped me make an exchange on an item that was on sale/clearance that I technically wasn't supposed to bring back at all. He was very helpful and considerate, I appreciated him bending the rules so I could exchange a skirt that was a gift. Their return policy is posted all over the place and when I originally made my purchase I was notified as well. I wouldn't normally shop here, and this location is rather small and the front seems to be almost cluttered with stuff, but not because it's dirty or unattended; it's just packed with merch. I came during a weekend that almost every store was having a huge sale, otherwise Hot Topic is overpriced and most of their clothing runs small and is geared towards a younger crowd (the women's clothing is really more junior's sized and some items are just ridiculously small period). read more

I personally don't shop here. The stuff here just isn't in my taste. However, my best friend is a very toned down, casual Goth. I was able to find a nice, black trench coat here with lace in the back. She liked it because it was "similar to Lolita", but wasn't so flashy that she couldn't go out in public wearing it. They do have some nice, toned down stuff, but the majority of it is way to out there for me. Kinda border-line creepy. Still, if you have friends that like unique, dark clothes, this is the place to go! The workers are friendly, and very easy to talk to. They're always having sales here, so it's very easy to find a good bargain if you look hard enough. read more

I used to frequent this location when I was into the whole "punk" scene and dressed in band tees and all black. I'm still a fan of the music, my fashion sense has just changed. However, I still find myself going here. I usually purchase body jewelry (which are ALWAYS buy one get one) or other things. I really like the deal they have where you get the recent new release of a music cd plus a tshirt for $20 but I've never actually found myself purchasing it. I love it when they do a special sale where everything that is on clearance is an extra 50% off. The staff is always friendly and there to help you when you need it. They don't follow you around trying to get you to buy stuff like at other stores and they remember me when I go in. I like going here and I will continue to when I feel like getting new plugs or a band tee! read more

Michael the manager helped me out as much he can in finding out if the earring set I wanted to purchase was nickel free since the package and site didn't say. He called another hottopic and used his personal phone to find out for me. It wasn't a big deal, but I appreciated his efforts. I was to start off saying I love Hot Topic! But the last few experiences makes me not even want to go into this store again. Some of the people that work there are so judgmental. Just because I do not "LOOK LIKE" someone who would not listen to some bands or someone who would not even know them, do not treat me like I am stupid. on our trip to valley fair yesterday, i saw this really cute lenore t-shirt at hot topic so my husband bought it for me :) lenore's so cute... whenever there's a hot topic at a mall, we'll take a peek to see if they have little apple dolls, but we rarely buy anything from hot topic. they had some miniature little apple dolls, which were pretty cute, and just one regular sized one that's from the new collection. i also liked one of their hello kitty t-shirts but they didn't have it in my size... read more

ever since the renovated look i think i like hot topic more now than i did before. they cater to many styles than just "punk, rock, alternative, etc." being pretty diverse dipping into otaku you see more hello kitty and japanese anime there which i think is a marketing scheme to make them more edgy, kind of. haha the store is well lit compared to the past, and id say at this location the staff is more inviting and friendly. they always ask how im doing or if im looking for anything. once it was 5 minutes before closing and my friend called to see if they had the Vampire Weekend cd in which they did, and she asked if they could hold it for her while i ran to go purchase it before the mall closed. i made it a little after closing time and they were more than welcome to help me. thats great service! read more

Coolest, random t shirts! I want them all. I love their earrings, they are so bright and colorful. And they always have the latest movie memorabilia like Harry Potter and Twilight stuff!! This is a very unique place from the decor, merchandise, and staff. I have never had an issue with any of the staff members out of the dozens of times I've come here. Im not sure what happened to this place. All i know is I used to buy white face paint and powder here(this is also when I was trying to file my real teeth into fangs *sigh*) when it was at the Vallco location, and every gothic child ventured there to feel accepted. I think the whole "rave" fad helped turn it into the popular store it is now. People used to walk by and run away fast. "Hot topics is not punk rock." LOL That song is funny to me b/c Hot Topic is celebrating 30 years of punk rock. I agree this store's style has evolved to not be as gothic as it used to be. The first thing I ever bought from this store was 13 years ago for these skater T-shirts that my friends and I bought in middle school with graffiti writing all over it. I think back to how ugly it was and WTF we were thinking! LOL. At that time I remember seeing black/burgundy crushed velvet dresses being sold at the stores. The brand Tripp offers corset styled tops and armwarmers and skirts. Their clothes has DIY look w/out actually taking the time to DIY. They sell a lot of band merchandise from metal bands to punk or emo bands. From AFI to even Eminem. I remember when Davey Havok posed in some of their clothing on their site. Like the song says they have everything from Hello Kitty Ipod cases to Led Zeppelin air fresheners. It's ridiculous but they have to cater to the 12 year old school girls that shop here, too. read more

I usually don't shop here, but they have a wide variety of band shirts and a lot of childhood shirts like pokemon and hello kitty. If you can't find some vans I know they carry some, but they seem to only have the typical kinds. If your looking for accessories this is a good place to get necklaces,phone charms, sunglasses, key chains. I mainly go there because they hold hello kitty shirts and what nots. read more

Was honestly a little disappointed. Went into the store today and asked how Hot Cash and wasn't given a clear explanation and looked at like I was an idiot. Also the girls that work there need a complete attitude adjustment. Just because your manager is on lunch doesn't mean it's okay for you to have a bitchy attitude and be rude to guests. After having experience in retail, if you can't handle then you shouldn't do it. Which is what I noticed about those girls. I hope the manager put all of them in their place. read more

This Hot Topic by far is the best one I have been to. The staff is always nice, and they dont just ring you up and ignore you. They ask you if they can help you find something. They always interact kindly with coustomers, are very gay friendly. (i have not always had that with people in stores) so I highly reccomend this store to everyone!!!!! read more

Normally when I hit up a HotTopics its usually a quick run threw. Nothing too new, nothing that I really need. Just seeing what's new more or less. Today just so happened to be a day when I figured it was worth a shot to see if they had a specific Pop figure. The old hag witch from Snow White. Now when I first heard about this thing coming out I had to get it. Sure, I could have gone threw amazon, but I wanted to be the one to pick it out from the pile. When I came in; as usual for Pops it's in the far back. Go back there and start looking around.... there's so many of those things its usually at least a 20-30 min search to find the one you want if it's a rarer one. While looking around I decided to skip the middle man work & just ask at the counter. The very amazing & sweet girl named Sofia offered to swing by & help me out. I explained how this was something I've been waiting for sense I first heard about it coming out. Dealing with a family loss & this character meaning something special of said person made it even more special. She within seconds ran to the front area (I didn't even think to look up there because the pops are usually all in the back area) & grabbed me a fresh brand new one. Cue crying on this poor girl I just met. Super emotional moment because this is what always was my late mothers' thing when it came to Disney stuff. This old witch. While sobbing like a prat this worker made this store feel more like a totally safe place to just be a human & not be judged. I can't give enough high praise to this girl for not only helping with making a person dealing with a recent death, but also reminding me how this store used to be back from the days in the 90's. I will be coming back, I will be telling everyone I know to come to this location. the only reason I am giving 1 star is because they have really cute belly button rings and sometimes a good novelty item. This place is horrible. i refuse to go there anymore! I am small, blonde, "preppy looking" woman, and every time i go in there i get the infamous eye roll. i got used to that, but this PARTICULAR time, the sales person was over the top rude. I was browsing the store casually and a girl comes over to me and asks "is there something you want?" and i said "no just looking" and she returned to the counter and began laughing and whispering with her coworker, which i assumed was about me. I literally JUST made this yelp while talking to a friend about how I will never return to this store. Since I was younger this hot topic has always been a pretty scene store. And over the years it has gotten worse and worse. One thing I could always rely on them for was their t-shirt selection. Especially the fact that they would order online for you if it wasn't in the store. A few days ago I stopped by to pick up some gifts for a friend and a shirt for myself. The girl working the counter was RUDE!!! She completely ignored me at first. After searching through the 100s of Justin beiber and miley cyrus shirts I asked her where I could find a white zombie shirt. She said "not here" and went back to talking with her friend who was obviously not shopping for anything. So just to make sure she knew I meant business, I asked her if she had a recommendation of where I could go to find one. And she told me "nope" then once again returned to her friend. My friend asked if she could see some of the body jewelry and she sighed so loud I thought she was going to pass out. Very poor customer service. I've heard of this store discriminating against people for being too preppy. Or not "cool" enough But this was ridiculous... She continued talking to her friend as she opened the jewelry cabinet. She had no interest in helping us or making a sale. Apparently I should be more hipster if I wanna buy a septum ring for myself here. And if I don't listen to skrillex or aoki I shouldn't step foot in this store. Needless to say I turned around and walked out without purchasing anything and I will NOT return. this is a long overdue post, i have been shopping at this store for years now. This store might seem very out of place and weird to shop at, but i can assure you that it's an amazing store. The staff there are all very welcoming and friendly and i can always start up a conversation and find what i need. Maybe it's just me personally, but music is a very big part of my life and this store is very music orientated. I can always find new CD's and lots of shirts. the quality isnt bad either. granted it's not the best quality you can find but definitely worth it, and the always have tons of sales going on. if you're in for a change of style definitely check it out. read more

I've been here many times in the past, and although the music is loud and the employees are louder, it's usually not enough to keep me from shopping. However my most recent visit will likely be my last. I tried to return an item I had bought, but did not have a receipt. Understandably I was only offered store credit. The store had a special offer going on where they offered 25% off any item. Because of this offer they told me they could only give me 75% of my purchase in store. I spoke to the long, black haired manager and was told "it's just not your day today." I took my item and left. I'm not interested in being spoken down to or taken advantage of because of some shoddy business practices. read more

Well, for the first time there, they had head banging music, and inpolite pierced and tattooed salespeople. There was ONE clerk who I hated. I was with my friend Cheyenne, and when I saw an awsome pair of jeans that were a cool shade of green that I never saw, I told Cheyenne: "Look Chey, green!". The clerk said in a rude tone, "Look! Yellow! It's a color!" He was like, mocking me. Well, anyway, now I try to avoid him and occasionally buy skinny jeans from there. BUT, the prices are WAAAAAY outta line. Their jeans are $40-50 and shirts $20-40. Unbelievable, when I can get the same jeans from Forever 21 or Papaya. Definitely my last visit there!!! This store is dark and confusing... but so fun! Every fandom fan from middle schooners to software engineer PhD's shop here to find t-shirts, jackets, costumes, jewelry, and everything else one can imagine. I love this hot topic. I've been coming here since the 90's and it's a guilty pleasure. People always love my rock shirts and I make sure tell them I got it at hot topic because I know they look down their nose at that, as if it matters in the least where you buy your rock shirt. Anyway, the thing that makes this hot topic so special I'd the staff. They have all been there a really long time. I love Nick and I think the fact that they are all goofballs makes it totally fun. It feels like they are all into music and enthusiastic about the products. Anyone should be able to see that. I disagree with some of the negative reviews definitely. If I have one complaint, it's that they run out of the more common sizes. There was a motorhead shirt I really wanted and they had it in stock for a year but they never had any mediums. read more
