I've only been here a couple of times but I'm impressed with how consistently helpful and cheerful the staff is. I have been ordering items online and picking up at the store. Since I'm terrible with visualizing correct sizes I did ask one girl during my last visit if they had the Disney Marie or Up travel duffle bag so I could see if I could check out the dimensions in person. She went to the back and searched for awhile and only was able to find the Marie one. I think I like the vibe of BoxLunch more than that of their sister store Hot Topic which I used to shop at all the time. There are lots of Disney, Sanrio, and Studio Ghibli which are my favorites. The prices are slightly higher at BoxLunch but I do think they are geared towards a different demographic --- think more family focused instead of teens. Just be aware if something says it's low stock at the store there is a high chance your order will be canceled if you choose to pick up at store. It happened to me twice. I wish I could have written this review sooner I just really wanted to recognize the girl who helped us out this day. I couldn't find her name but the only detail I remember was she has a Sanrio cinnamon roll sticker on her badge. She was super helpful in pulling out the buy one get one free Harry Potter bags off the rack. She was super friendly and very helpful with making sure we received our points. I came here on a whim, and I saw they had the Mean Girls bag clips where it's a surprise what character you're going to get. I really wanted Regina George, but most of all, I wanted Damien saying, "She doesn't even go here!" Claudia, who is a Mean Girls fan and works here, went out of her way to help me pick my characters. I did not get Damien which I really wanted, so Claudia bought a couple of Mean Girls clips for herself, got Damien, and was willing to trade!!! This is a nice cute novelty store of pop culture, whereas other places like Ahhs and Spencer's Gifts often have borderline risque and more adult themed merchandise, I'd say Box Lunch has more of a family friendly atmosphere and lots of nice licensed items, with a focus on the whole "comic con" culture of super-heroes, anime, sci-fi and such. Been here a handful of times since they joined the ever-changing Del Amo mall. You can find this store on the 2nd floor, right next door to Din Tai Fung. I like that they have so many unique items here. Most of the time, I don't buy anything because I just don't have the space for all their cute things, but I love to browse and see what they have. My main reason for this review (perhaps slightly overdue) is to praise the great customer service here. A while back, I was looking for the Lilo and Stitch blind bag keychains. I had gotten one at another location in Irvine but wanted more. I called in and, to my dismay, they didn't have any available and weren't sure when (or if) they would get them in. Franz was so helpful and kept in contact with me over a couple weeks whenever they got their shipments in. Thankfully, they finally got a bunch in and I was able to buy them. She went above and beyond to help me out. I'm still so grateful. Cute little store with awesome customer service! read more

This store is full of adorable items. They carry apparel, mini backpacks, wallets, blind bags, and collectible figures. They have a better selection in store than online. Whenever I go there the employees have always been very nice and conscientious. And with all the stuff they carry the store is very well organized. But sometimes it's easier to shop online and pick them up at the store because this store is very small and it's difficult to browse when it's busy. read more

What a gem this place is, it's basically a Disney/toy store for the grown ups. I order the cutest and coolest stuff I didn't even know existed on their website and pick up in store or return to store for free. My kids have to drag me out of here.. Only downside is this store is so small it does get packed like sardine on busy days and the "lunch" money cannot be used with other discounts/promotions so it's often useless for me. read more

So let me start off by saying that I am a well experienced boxlunch shopper. I've been to just about every boxlunch in Southern California and yes, I always have nice experiences, BUT, boxlunch Del Amo is my home. Everytime I walk in, they make me feel like family. Ember, Karen, Jon are the 3 see the most and shop with the most but the just the whole store is so friendly. Everyone is very helpful and very accommodating as is all box lunches I've shopped. What I think sets this store apart from Everyone else is 1 how well Everyone works together, their team is tight and they trust one another and it shows. 2 this store, even with limited amount of space always finds a way to display everything without it looking so cramped or crowded. Honestly, no matter how far I move from this store, I will always take the extra miles to shop here and its because of the atmosphere this team has created! Keep up the awesome work guys! read more

This is the second time I have come into this boxlunch and have gotten a rude sales associate. I come in here all the time. I spend a great deal of money at boxlunch and two times I have dealt with rude and passive aggressive sales associates. I did not know that after 7 days you couldn't return or exchange pops. I was not angry, I was actually really understanding about the situation. My cashier (Kiran) was so nice and wanted to offer me a discount for the inconvenience and it wasn't that big of a deal but the lady standing right on the other register. She had brown curly hair that was tied back and glasses. On my receipt it shows two sales associates helped me so I'm going to assume that this girls name is Ember. But (Ember) was completely rude and passive aggressive. She told me that there were signs everywhere that said that you couldn't return pops after 7 days and it was on the receipt and I should have read that. Who says that to a customer. This is the second time and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. So uncalled for and no need to be rude. I'd understand if I was rude or angry but I wasn't. I said it was fine and it wasn't a big deal. I honestly am at the point where I won't be returning to this boxlunch. Work on how you speak to customers or fire the employees who don't speak right. read more

I specifically sought this store out on my last visit to Del Amo because I'd heard so many good things about all the cool/cute stuff they sell. I'm not sure if other locations have better merch but i was really unimpressed with this one. I didn't feel I saw anything different from what's at Hot Topic or Disney/Warner Brothers store. I also feel there is much more exciting Pop culture merchandise to be found, but I could be spoiled by all the items I find at local cons and on Amazon. It was also pricey for what they did have. I managed to look over the entire store before an employee said hi and asked if they could help with anything. Not because they were busy with other customers but because they were busy talking with each other. I went in yesterday because I was having issues with the online site. I ran into Ember, who was folding some clothes at the time. We bonded over my Twenty One Pilots hoodie and talked about music. (Friendly staff that actually makes an effort to get to know/ relate to their customers is why I love this store so much!) ANYWAY. I told her about my problems with the site, and she got me the number for customer service. She also suggested that she could order it online through the store and she could have it shipped to me. My boyfriend and I visited this location yesterday just to check out what was new and we were greeted by a very friendly associate named Nikki. When we entered she made sure to inform us of the many different in store promotions. She checked in on us a couple times as we browsed around (I tend to take my time here as there is just so much to look at). When I came around to look at the loungefly backpacks she checked in again and we started chatting about the different styles we each had. She was engaging and genuinely loved the product. I was having a hard time deciding which one I wanted and she suggested the Coco one as it is a Box Lunch exclusive and it always sells out.
