I bought a hot tub years ago because it was the only therapy that helped me deal with agonizing pain of injuries and chronic arthritis. We always had a hard time getting it serviced on Long Island, because the manufacturer was out of Connecticut. Never anyone locally available. Until we found Hot Tub Specialists. The hot tub had turned off, and refused to kick back on. The weather report was projected a dip over Christmas below zero. I thought all was lost. Then I spoke with Lori. Initially it was going to take some time, but she and Jack managed to fit us in before the holiday. He came by and in no time at all, he replaced the heater (yes he carries parts!) and he methodically reviewed the whole tub and got us back in gear. My aching bones are so thankful for Lori & Jack at Hot Tub Specialists. I LOVE supporting family run businesses - especially locally based. Stay away from this company. Jack and Lori refuse to provide warranty and product part information. They installed a new board for $733.00 last year and it needs to be replaced just a year later. I needed them to provide what manufacturer and part number along with warranty information and they don't return calls. When speaking to them, they have no problems telling you to go somewhere else rather than solve the problem. The next step is a complaint to the BBB. read more

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with these guys, I can't believe there are negative reviews! After a bad experience with another company, I was recommended these guys and called Lori to discuss my hot tub leak. She was very helpful in explaining the timeline of having someone come out to assess the issue and costs involved. Jack came out and was very knowledgeable on what could be causing the leaks in my tub (that the other company did not fix) and guess what...HE FIXED IT! He took the time to show me where the leaks were coming from and what he was going to do to fix it. Hot tub repairs are not cheap, but Jack and his guys got the job done in a matter of hours, whereas the company I had been using before took WEEKS to come back between visits and still had not fixed the problem. An animal, most likely one of our dogs, got under our hot tub and did severe damage. I called at least five companies and none would take the job, wouldn't even come look. I was ready to give up and gave it one last try, I called Hot Tub Specialists and I was told "We can fix it". Jack and his crew came out, in the pouring rain as I remember and repaired the tub at a fair price. Hot Tub Specialists have been the only ones we consider calling when our old tub acts up. They are responsive, competent, and extremely fair. I cannot recommend Hot Tub Specialists more enthusiastically. read more

Called requiring a part I purchased to be installed. Not a big job at all I just don't like to play around with wires and water. I explained I was desperate to get the tub operable as I an hosting a huge party days away. Nope. Won't take the job because I purchased the part (from the manufacturer). I explained I wasn't looking for a warrantee just a skilled installation. Nope.... couldn't care less about it. To add insult to injury, I'm located in the same town! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I hardly ever give reviews but I had to warn people about this company. I wanted an ozone generator installed and was told I would be charged over $300 for the part plus $189 for the labor per hour and I would need a mixer for $55. I asked several times for the model number of the ozone generator they were going to order for me so that I could look it up online and read about it as well as check reviews about it. Either Lorie refused to answer or she kept saying that it doesn't have one, that the manufacturer wouldn't give her a model number. I checked the manufacturer site she mentioned and saw that the one she mentioned was discontinued and another one was its replacement. When I asked her about it she refused to answer. I could hardly get her on the phone and had to text multiple times when a simple phone call would have sufficed. Many times my texts were unanswered. The first time they could come out was 3 weeks away. By the time I got some information from Lorie, after multiple texts and many unanswered calls, she finally put me on their schedule and now I had to wait 4 weeks. The day before they were scheduled to come I asked once again for the model number. She claimed she didn't have one- I said you have the part in your possession now since Jack is coming to install it tomorrow so I figured you could give me a part number. She told me to go online. I told her I did and all the parts do have model numbers and I didn't understand why she couldn't give me one. Then she asked why do I need a model number. I told her so that I could look up the reviews. Her next text was that I should find another company to do the job! I think she knew that I was getting wise to the fact that they were ripping me off- the part they wanted to charge me over $300 was $116 and I could easily install it myself! No one knew what a mixer was but they wanted to charge me $55 for that as well $189 per hour for labor. I asked to speak to Jack directly, also called the other numbers I had and never heard from Jack. He's the boss so he obviously knows full well that he is ripping people off bigtime. Lorie is horrible and obviously privy to the fact that the customer is being overcharged to the point of being practically highway robbery. I had been using this company for over 15 years- I'm afraid to think how much they may have ripped me off for all of these years. Thank God I asked for a model number, otherwise I couldn't have become aware of the fact that they were horribly overcharging me. read more

I can't give a review on their actual "work" because customer service and Lori who answers the phone is so horrible.. they didn't even come to my home to repair my hot tub.. after waiting three weeks for an appointment.. the repair person had a personal issue and couldn't make it on our designated day.. so they rescheduled it for two days later but I had a early morning appointment which they were not willing to accommodate on the rescheduled date.. I was not able to wait all day. (this is after she argued with me several times stating that she didn't even want to send someone until i had a cover.. however I have it enclosed in a gazebo so there is no need to have a cover for the time being) after trying to explain again that I couldn't be home all day waiting and after waiting 3 weeks i didn't think i should have too.. she stated that i should find another repair place and hung up.. when i called back to say that i was going to leave a review on her .. she called back my employer asked the address.. then called me on my cell and said she was going to leave derogatory remarks about my employer.. Horrible, sloppy service! They charged my over $900. to fix a leak in my hot tub. Guess what? After taking more than 2 weeks to replace a motor, the hot tub continued to leak! When I called them back shortly thereafter, they insisted on additional payment! Their work was sloppy also-- they left dark black stains on the hot tub shell and they left my deck a mess with muddy shoeprints! They also insisted on providing a credit card number prior to coming to the house so that they could charge for giving a repair estimate! I would NEVER recommend them!
