What a HUGE difference it can make from one location to another. After the HORRENDOUS, DISASTROUS incident that I had at the Hot Wings Cafe earlier today, I drove all the way to the Sherman Oaks location to eat the same food that I was going to order at the Glendale location. I am still very angry and slowly my anger is subsiding. Walked in and got a very warm welcome from a guy named Joseph and wanted to know if I was eating in or getting food to go. I told him I am eating here and Xavior brought me a menu and I was seated instantly. This location does not have a patio so I sat inside. I ordered small 12 pieces bone-in Chicken Wings that came with celery sticks & carrots. It also came with ranch, BBQ and mild sauce. $17.95. Being so hungry and frustrated from the other location, I also got their Philly Style Steak Sandwich/the works that came with sautéed onions, green Bell Peppers, sautéed mushrooms & Provolone cheese ($13.95). Food tasted very delicious. Hot Wings were crispy, tiny pieces. Finger licking good tasty. Both Joseph & Xavior checked on me twice to make sure everything was ok. I also got a Mango/Nectar juice. It was a bit sweet for me; but, I watered it down with some ice. Asked for extra celery sticks & ranch dressing and within a second or 2, it was already on my table. The total came out to $41.25 and Joseph got the tip he deserved! Restaurant was very clean, including both bathrooms. Has a small parking space in the back but mainly street/metered parking. Overhead music playing todays hits, along with few TVs were around me. Enjoyed my food and this location very much!! Has 4 locations. Melrose, Glendale, Pasadena & Sherman Oaks. Wings are usually pretty good here. Fries/onion rings can be a hit or miss in terms of freshness/greasiness. What really bothers me is that they are extremely cheap with their sauces. Only one sauce per order no matter the quantity of wings. An 8 piece includes one ranch or bleu cheese, but so does a 16 piece (when it should include two logically). Even if you buy a $10 order of onion rings, it doesn't come with any sauce, just ketchup that you have to specifically ask for which isn't even name brand ketchup. I understand some people are unrealistic and ask for an excessive amount of sauce that they never end up using and it goes to waste, but damn one sauce is pretty cheap. They could also include a bit more carrots/celery with an order of wings but its just a tiny pinch they throw in. Carrots and celery are dirt cheap anyway. read more

There are sufficient flat panel television monitors properly tuned for the sports enthusiast. My two servers were quick to get me seated and take care of my order. I asked for the Spicy Chicken Works. As soon as I took one bite, I was temporarily blinded by the avalanche of flavors. That was when I realized my eyes had rolled all the way to the back of my head. They have a large dinning area with both booths and tables. Great for large groups. Sports on all TV's which are a good size and easy to view from any seat. Now for the food. My husband and I love their hot wings. The flavor is great! The wings are the perfect texture. They have a huge menu so you can definitely get more than just wings. They have burgers, sandwiches and more. We also had their fried zucchini and OMG! They are by far the best we've ever hard! They are nice and firm unlike most others that get to mushie. Their veggie plates are so yummy and crispy. The wait staff is great. Rene in particular is beyond spectacular! We will never go without a refill on your drink. He is on it! The food here is great l, it's actually one of my favorite wing spots in the valley. Small wings that taste like real chicken. The boneless ones are fire too! My rating is based on service or lack there of. It's like a ghost town I'm always borderline halfway in the kitchen before I find someone to take my order or get anything. There's never a server easily accessible for extra napkins, drink refills, more ranch, etc. it's a waiting game that takes away from the quality of the food. During my visit there was 3 servers and while friendly they were gone a lot and unavailable when we needed them. The part that was frustrating is it wasn't even crowded... besides our table there were only 4 other parties present. The The vibe is like any other sports bar, tvs around, and music playing. I also went with my family and I wasn't particularly fond of the music blasting to not have the curse words censured. I kept having to distract my young kids in hopes of them not listening to the profanity. There's street parking available out front but be mindful of the signs. The reviews here really run the gamut. I discount all the reviews of lousy service because I've never been there and don't know from the service and I know customers can be just as persnickety as restaurant help. So, I thought I'd just add my experience ordering via door dash. I have had some truly nauseating experiences with wings from elsewhere lately, but at 10:00 last evening I was hungry and wasn't getting to bed until three, so Hot Wings Cafe was still open. I wanted something fast and simple so I ordered some boneless wings and ranch dressing. Here are some things to know - I don't do hot, hot is not my thing in terms of spice. Otherwise, I get heartburn and who needs that at three in the morning? Not I. So I ordered the wings naked, i.e. no sauce. That's they way I like my wings, naked and no sauce. I could say something pithy here, but I shan't. Anyway, they arrived quickly and were the perfect snack. They were tasty as all get out and I think we all know how tasty all get out is. The ranch was good and I was happy and a happy me is the ticket. I will definitely try the naked drumettes next time and perhaps some other items. But if you're looking for naked things with no sauce, I can recommend Hot Wings Cafe. read more

To the owner of hot wings Café, it is time to stop using Styrofoam to go containers. The Styrofoam container was deformed the moment the employee handed me the bag inside the restaurant which happens because of the hot fried food. Okay, I've been going to HWC for decades. Started as a regular at Melrose location, now live in Valley and use Sherman Oaks. Hadn't been in a while. Last night, picked up 16 hot, 16 lemon pepper, and fries. The flavor of the wings is still incredible. Tastes great. BUT!!! They've switched to the smallest drums and flats I've ever seen. When I say small, I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY SMALL. Insulting small. They should be embarrassed to charge what they charge small. Small enough that I'll never go back small. Smaller than a pack of Splenda a ketchup pack small. Prices can't go up while size shrinks so severely. Do better HWC. read more

Date: May 1, 2023 We live right behind in the vista Del Monte apartments and always pass by this little joint. I'm not the biggest fan of wings but I do enjoy them occasionally so we decided to check it out. Brought the two little ones by on a Monday night around 7pm and there were three other families dining in as well. They have a bunch of seating both boots and regular chairs. Their menu is completely online or if you want to see a physical one they have it at the bar counter. We ordered 14 boneless wings - half lemon pepper (way way way too salty) and half barbecue (actually liked this one. Not too sweet or saucy) and replaced the veggies with French fries. Hubs got the traditional wings with curly fries and we ordered a Philly sandwich to share. Sandwich was pretty plain but they gave us a huge bowl of Au Jus which was pretty good. The waitress did come check in on us a couple times, however it was always the wrong times. Like she just put the food down and two seconds later asked how it was. Or when we first sat down she immediately wanted to take our order and then asked again 2 mins later. Appreciate the attention but please wait a little bit longer. They also take a 4% card fee so bring cash if you don't want to get charged a fee. Wish I knew that before paying because I didn't see it until I went up to the bar counter. This is one of my fave wing spots in LA out of 3. Specifically, because party wings are NOT supposed to be fatty and large. I would give ZERO STARS if I could. The manager here is despicable. My experience in the past, was decent. Today, however, just blew me away. I come here atleast twice a week. I ordered onion rings for the first time. They came out like warm and not hot and fresh as the wings we ordered. I paid it no mind until the bill came and I asked if I can get them taken off. The waiter and another guy was by the register laughing and appeared to be flirting. I asked her to bring our bill please and I wanted the onion rings off. She gave me a nasty look and walked away and asked the manager. Here's were things go off the rails.... He come by and asked why did I want them off. I told him they were not traditional onion rings and they were not good, in addition to them being lukewarm. He gave me the back and forth about his reasons for not taking the 8.00 onion rings off. I mentioned how often I come, and the customer experience should be better. He treated me as if I wronged him or perhaps took what I said about the onion rings too personal. He then walks away in the middle of me talking after I suggested I will pay the whole bill and never return. He then come back and say he doesn't want my money and he feels "attacked" that I had my opinion about the onion rings. To say the least, AVOID this place at all costs.
